"Midnight Texas"

The first 4 minutes are great.

Two leads are freakin' HOT.

Anyone else watch? (currently watching on DVR)

by Anonymousreply 228May 3, 2020 10:53 PM

I watched parts of it. I do think the lead is really cute. Who else did you like?

by Anonymousreply 1July 25, 2017 3:13 AM

Ugh. Vampires.

by Anonymousreply 2July 25, 2017 3:13 AM

The guy who rented him the house, R1...

So the tattoo guy and the guy who does nails are a gay couple? It was kind of insinuated, but not said out-right.

And R2, there's A vampire. It's not a show about 'vampires'.

by Anonymousreply 3July 25, 2017 3:34 AM

Nice flopping bulge in that scene with him in nothing but his grey boxer briefs.

by Anonymousreply 4July 25, 2017 3:40 AM

It looks interesting. Going to watch it later.

by Anonymousreply 5July 25, 2017 3:40 AM

I loved Francois Arnaud (Woof) in The Borgias and I like movies about weird, little western towns, so I'll be watching.

The supernatural stuff, I dunno. We'll see.

It's better represented in books because it is hard to do with subtlety. If the effects are too outlandish it becomes absurd.

by Anonymousreply 6July 25, 2017 3:41 AM

Variety ripped it to pieces.

by Anonymousreply 7July 25, 2017 3:46 AM

Yeah, I don't care ... I'm loving it.

by Anonymousreply 8July 25, 2017 3:56 AM

Whose the blonde angel? He's hot!

I've seen him before but can't recall.

by Anonymousreply 9July 25, 2017 4:09 AM

Dylan Bruce is in this and I want to be balls deep in him. That is all

by Anonymousreply 10July 25, 2017 4:15 AM

Ooooh! Cesare from The Borgias. Be still my heart.

by Anonymousreply 11July 25, 2017 4:16 AM

Two hot guys so far.

by Anonymousreply 12July 25, 2017 4:27 AM

R11

Yeah.

by Anonymousreply 13July 25, 2017 4:28 AM

A talking cat?

by Anonymousreply 14July 25, 2017 4:53 AM

Yes, the cat talks, and better yet ... his name is "Mr. Snuggly." But he isn't. He's an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 15July 25, 2017 4:56 AM

It's weird but I like it and will keep watching. I'm intrigued. Jason Lewis has aged but still looks hot as a gay angel.

by Anonymousreply 16July 25, 2017 5:00 AM

Watching it right now. Would like a slower pace for the supernatural stuff, but yep, Arnaud is still hot and looks good within a Western locale, so unless it becomes absolutely intolerable, I'll watch again.

by Anonymousreply 17July 25, 2017 5:38 AM

He plays a gypsy from a long line of gypsy psychic/scam artists.

by Anonymousreply 18July 25, 2017 7:00 AM

r7 Just how I hard I want to rip up Jason Lewis' hole :)

by Anonymousreply 19July 25, 2017 5:14 PM

The trailer looked awful and A.V.Club ripped it to shreds. Seems like what True Blood would have been if it wasn't for HBO and Alan Ball to elevate the material, even if just stylistically.

I'll still watch the first episode to decide for myself.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 20July 25, 2017 5:23 PM

I watched it, even though the commercials and trailer looked pretty crappy; I learned not to be so quick to write off new shows after almost giving up on Hannibal and Legion on first look. Anyway, it was so rushed - I know these are based on books, but the writers put in too much info for non-readers to absorb. Also, it is such a low-rent True Blood ripoff and the cast seems to be sleepwalking.

I zoned out about the time they found the dead woman in the river, but perked up for a few seconds when it appeared that the blond guy was with the Mexican dude. I guess I'll have to tune in case some gay stuff happens (which is the only reason I tune in to the horrible show "Will" on TNT).

by Anonymousreply 21July 25, 2017 8:42 PM

Hardly, R21. I'm a non-reader (didn't even know it was based on books) and it was fine.

by Anonymousreply 22July 26, 2017 3:23 AM

R9 The ever adorable Jason Lewis, of course.

by Anonymousreply 23July 26, 2017 3:48 AM

It's like an upgrade of "Passions" mixed with a little "True Blood". Well done.

by Anonymousreply 24July 26, 2017 3:51 AM

So I watched the first episode and I don't know if it was the extremely low expectations I had going in but it was... pretty good? Sure, some of the acting and the dialogue are second-rate, but that goes without saying on a throwaway network show.

I was expecting another Wynona Earp disaster where I had to stop watching after the first ten minutes but I didn't zone out once here. It's just some good old mindless entertainment that might not look anywhere near as good as True Blood but has better pacing and none of that cliffhanger stuff that makes one go nuts eventually. Don't get too attached to it as I don't see another season in this show's future. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Also, Manfred Bernardo is the name of the lead in this show. That's it; that's the joke.

by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2017 11:47 PM

It's NBC. I definitely don't think it has another season in it. I'll be shocked if it finished out its first season.

That said, I'm liking it. It's entertaining, fun, and (for such a derivative concept) relatively original in its execution.

by Anonymousreply 26July 27, 2017 12:02 AM

Yeah, that it's on NBC is the most surprising. That show has SyFy written all over it. Canada, cheap, nerdy sense of humor. The premise kind of reminds me of SyFy's Eureka of a town filled with science geeks.

by Anonymousreply 27July 27, 2017 12:26 AM

I wish it was on SyFy or CW or some other network. It would likely last longer. NBC isn't kind to shows that aren't instant hits, generally.

by Anonymousreply 28July 27, 2017 4:45 AM

Paul from Orphan Black. Yum.

by Anonymousreply 29July 27, 2017 5:29 AM
Also, it is such a low-rent True Blood ripoff

Well, it's based on books by Charlaine Harris, who wrote the books True Blood was based on, so...yeah. I'm pretty sure the book series was a flop.

by Anonymousreply 30July 27, 2017 6:23 AM
Paul from Orphan Black. Yum.

Has he shown cock yet? He had his butt out in Orphan Black but I want to see the dick.

by Anonymousreply 31July 27, 2017 6:27 AM

How many shirtless or nude scenes does Dylan Bruce have?

by Anonymousreply 32July 27, 2017 6:44 AM

I just finished watching the pilot and the show wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews made it to be. Although I guess the reviewers have seen more than just the pilot. In any case I enjoyed it a lot and I could clearly tell the show isn't as shitty as some of the shows on SyFy etc. It did help that the lead and Dylan Bruce are so sexy. Too bad they most probably won't go gay since I assume the angel(s?) got that covered.

Variety pretty much said some of the actors are terrible yet at least in my eyes acting wasn't really different from other tv shows. I'll definitely check out what happens next week.

by Anonymousreply 33July 27, 2017 8:55 AM

I watched it again, and it was actually even better on second viewing. Lots of nice forward references I didn't catch the first time.

by Anonymousreply 34July 27, 2017 2:56 PM

The actors all look like they know this won't get a second season. Has Arnaud done anything else of note? He's been trying for a while, hasn't he? Do you think this show on his resume will limit his opportunities going forward? I'd love to be the casting couch that got to soak up his loads.

And I have to say, that talking cat looked spectacular. I was honestly shocked at how good it looked.

by Anonymousreply 35July 27, 2017 3:12 PM

Fuck a duck, Peter Mensah has a banging body for an old guy (for any guy, actually). How does he do it? Is he a vamper IRL?

PS "Keep waving those feathers"

by Anonymousreply 36July 27, 2017 3:22 PM

R32 None so far. And he's the worst actor of the bunch.

R36 Yeah, great body. And a much better one than the angel guy. Who would have thought that was possible back in the day when he was porking Samantha in Sex and the City?

by Anonymousreply 37July 27, 2017 3:39 PM

It needs to be on cable. This cast needs to be naked

by Anonymousreply 38July 27, 2017 3:42 PM

Canada, yes, but actual shots of Dallas as well!

by Anonymousreply 39July 27, 2017 3:48 PM

I agree with the critics on this one, I thought it was pretty bad. However, it did win its time slot Monday, handily defeating the debut of ABC's Somewhere Between and a rerun of Scorpion. Its 0.9 rating eclipsed all but The Bachelorette and American Ninja Warrior for the night.

by Anonymousreply 40July 27, 2017 4:19 PM

Men.com needs to do a shitty gay porn version of midnight texas

by Anonymousreply 41July 27, 2017 5:59 PM

Everything looks like gay porn when Dylan Bruce is in it.

by Anonymousreply 42July 27, 2017 6:01 PM

r42 God If I had one shot at that ass of his I would be set for life!

by Anonymousreply 43July 27, 2017 7:43 PM

R42 He has been blessed with the absence of both range and screen presence. Usually, it's just the one. I swear there's a parallel world right next to ours where Hillary won, Dylan Bruce is a gay porn performer, and everything is okay precisely because of those two circumstances.

Everyone involved in this production - himself included - [italic]must[/italic] be aware that he wasn't hired for his acting chops. So there's really no excuse for him [italic]not[/italic] to be delivering his lines shirtless at all times. Just show us yer tits, Dylan, and DL alone will make certain this gets another season!

by Anonymousreply 44July 28, 2017 12:12 AM

r44 jesus fucking christ i'm with you man.

by Anonymousreply 45July 28, 2017 12:12 AM

They should have a show where Dylan Bruce plays the main character and he is allergic to clothes

by Anonymousreply 46July 28, 2017 12:14 AM

I would love to spaff all over those tits (and face)

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 47July 28, 2017 12:28 AM

r47 I love how you remembered the face

by Anonymousreply 48July 28, 2017 1:06 AM
He has been blessed with the absence of both range and screen presence.

While I don't view him as a new Sir Laurence Olivier things are hardly that bad. He's a capable enough actor and at least for me he always makes the characters he plays interesting. Yes, it's partly because of his banging body and that pretty face but he does have screen presence otherwise as well. And I don't mean his butt but since he's shown it let's take a minute to admire it.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 49July 28, 2017 1:07 AM

He is fucking perfect! I usually go for a darker look, but he is just wow.

by Anonymousreply 50July 28, 2017 1:48 AM

that ass! I want to eat it like it's prime beef

by Anonymousreply 51July 28, 2017 1:49 AM

I cannot fathom how anyone can say it's bad.

It was a lot of fun.

by Anonymousreply 52July 28, 2017 5:00 AM

R49 I disagree; he's beyond awful.

But who needs actual talent when your butt looks like that? I would suck his soul out of that ass.

R52 It's made for pennies and the cheapness factor is what's probably turning the critics off. That, combined with plain writing wouldn't get any show high marks in the era of peak TV. Whatever, I'm still enjoying it. Feels... comfy.

by Anonymousreply 53July 28, 2017 7:13 AM

I think what helped the pilot was the introduction scene (at first I thought the lead was an escort) and the male eye candy. The special effects are good as well.

by Anonymousreply 54July 28, 2017 9:20 AM

Back when Dylan Bruce was on As The World Turns, he appeared at the annual Broadway Flea Market. I was getting my picture with him in the photo booth and they handed him something to autograph and he dropped it. He bent down to pick it up and his ass rubbed against my hand. It was hard as a rock. Very nice guy and he smelled great.

by Anonymousreply 55July 28, 2017 11:44 AM

R55 You're so precious and that story is fucking hot.

by Anonymousreply 56July 28, 2017 12:35 PM

Never trust a man with two first names. And I am unanimous in that

by Anonymousreply 57July 28, 2017 3:03 PM

r58 what about your pussy?

by Anonymousreply 58July 28, 2017 9:52 PM

Let's get the guys shirtless more often, and this will be must-see TV.

by Anonymousreply 59July 29, 2017 6:50 PM

Anyone else watching? Sadly, there has been only a little of Bruce tonight.

by Anonymousreply 60August 1, 2017 4:33 AM

Honestly, this show crams like three episodes worth of plot into each episode. SO MUCH HAPPENS. Seriously, any other show would have been on episode six before it got to this point. It's like drinking from a fire-hose.

But it's fun.

by Anonymousreply 61August 1, 2017 4:37 AM

I kinda love this show.

by Anonymousreply 62August 1, 2017 4:59 AM

I thought I would turn it off after 10 minutes. The show was fun! Yes and so many hot guys.

by Anonymousreply 63August 1, 2017 5:08 AM

I do think it's a fun show. Nice light summer fare. It's nice to have a scripted series instead of the endless game shows and reality programs that populate the airwaves. Now I have something to look forward to the next few Monday nights until it ends. Hopefully it does well enough in the ratings that NBC decides to bring it back next summer.

by Anonymousreply 64August 1, 2017 5:15 AM

I finally watched the pilot tonight, and then episode 2 and thought it was entertaining enough to keep watching. The men are incredibly hot and I love that there's a gay male couple in the mix. I'll keep watching.

NBC and SyFy are both owned by Comcast/Universal so it very possible that this will show up on SyFy.

by Anonymousreply 65August 1, 2017 5:38 AM

I was going to let it go them I saw next week's preview. I like Zachariah.... he's the native sheriff on Longmire, I think.

by Anonymousreply 66August 1, 2017 6:03 AM

I'm finding it quite fun, and just do not get the critics calling it 'bad'.

But because I like it, like "Almost Human", I assume it'll get canceled soon.

by Anonymousreply 67August 2, 2017 2:49 AM

Dylan Bruce sure tests the strength of the buttons on his shirt, doesn't he?

by Anonymousreply 68August 2, 2017 3:47 AM

Two episodes in and they're already pulling that "24 hours earlier" writing schtick that the audiences [italic]always[/italic] love. It added nothing to the story but why not have it anyway, right?

This is so fucking campy and cheap and I can't stop rooting for it because of that.

by Anonymousreply 69August 2, 2017 1:57 PM

Francois Arnaud is the sexiest guy with a perfect body. The show is terrible. Has the worst, cheapest CGI. Writing is the same level crap that the Twilight series had, acting is blah. This kind of shit has been done to death. I hope it fails massively.

by Anonymousreply 70August 2, 2017 2:02 PM

Has anyone read the books?

I have a vague terrible feeling that Jason Lewis' Mexican boyfriend is going to go all "Quantico" and be a fake gay who is really part of the Evil in Midnight and that he is really keeping an eye on the angel and plotting against him (and really straight).

Shitty history has made me very jaded when it comes to TV Gays.

by Anonymousreply 71August 2, 2017 2:07 PM

R70 You know, there was a shot of him lying on the couch in the second episode, with a close-up on his face, and I thought to myself, this man is absolute perfection. I'm shocked that he's 32 yet apparently has no nasolabial folds whatsoever. Lucky bitch.

Yeah, the show has no depth and zero stakes. That woman who carefully locked the Reverend into that hole started shooting at his weretiger form [italic]the moment[/italic] she saw him, without a second thought. That's incredibly bad writing.

And I take back my point about Dylan Bruce being the worst actor of the bunch. That Reverend... is something else. He looked directly into the camera when delivering his lines and they didn't even bother doing a second take. Because they couldn't afford it.

by Anonymousreply 72August 2, 2017 2:16 PM

I think the show sucks, but the second episode lost only a tenth of a rating point from the premiere episode, so that's good news for those of you who are enjoying it. If it stays relatively stable, it should finish out its run and maybe even earn a second summer season.

by Anonymousreply 73August 2, 2017 3:19 PM

R70 is so wrong about everything I have to imagine he's a Trump supporter.

by Anonymousreply 74August 2, 2017 6:11 PM

I was the one who was concerned the spooky stuff wouldn't be subtle enough. Yeah, it's so UNsubtle that it can be enjoyed on a camp level as someone said above if you just get into it - especially the blue eyed vampire and his gun-toting sidekick bringing down the were-tiger/ preacher man.

by Anonymousreply 75August 2, 2017 6:42 PM

See, that's the thing I *like* about this show... any other show would have dragged out the reveal of the Preacher guy as a "were-tiger" for WEEKS and MONTHS. This show gets it over with in the second episode.

by Anonymousreply 76August 2, 2017 10:28 PM

R74 is the biggest cunt ever. Even Vadge bows down to her putrid, diseased labial folds.

by Anonymousreply 77August 3, 2017 2:49 AM

R77, you're projecting again.

by Anonymousreply 78August 3, 2017 3:15 AM

r77 Are you OK?

by Anonymousreply 79August 3, 2017 8:21 PM

Meanwhile Dylan Bruce's dong. Is it as luscious as his arse?!

by Anonymousreply 80August 3, 2017 8:21 PM

If they do a shirtless guy scene in every episode, it's guaranteed to get a second season!

by Anonymousreply 81August 6, 2017 3:43 AM

I watched episodes 1 and 2 a few nights back. I liked it despite the awful CGI and the annoying vampire with blue eyes. The ghost grandma is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 82August 6, 2017 3:48 AM

Okay, my question there towards the end: "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST CLOSE THE DRAPES?"

by Anonymousreply 83August 8, 2017 2:53 AM

Right, R83??????

The angel is a hottie.

by Anonymousreply 84August 8, 2017 3:56 AM

I fucking love this show despite its flaws. So many hot guys.

by Anonymousreply 85August 8, 2017 4:35 AM

I love it but we should enjoy it while it lasts. Fucking network TV.

by Anonymousreply 86August 8, 2017 11:38 AM

Several shirtless guys.

Still a fun show even with some of the obviousness of the plotting and the stupid curtain thing at the end. No idea why anyone would take a shot from an enemy before the enemy drank. I mean DUH.

Nice/interesting back-story though.

by Anonymousreply 87August 8, 2017 2:59 PM
I love it but we should enjoy it while it lasts. Fucking network TV.

It's a summer show. Seasons might mean nothing to you binge-watching Millennials, but for the rest of us it means low-budget, low-value entertainment with little hope of being renewed.

by Anonymousreply 88August 8, 2017 7:17 PM

I'm wondering how this would have played in the days of "Buffy".

Gotta say, I don't think I've watched network TV in decades, so they got me to tune in in real time . The Monday time slot works perfectly. It's before the week really kicks in and you can't be bothered.

by Anonymousreply 89August 8, 2017 7:41 PM

Midnight held steady at a 0.8 rating this past Monday, consistent with the Monday before, and down just one tenth from its debut episode. The Bachelorette and American Ninja Warrior were the only network shows with higher ratings Monday.

by Anonymousreply 90August 9, 2017 12:17 PM

Since this is NBC, and they let Milo show his ass, hopefully we can get a little brief nudity before the season ends.

by Anonymousreply 91August 9, 2017 12:29 PM

much better than the cunstant housewives, evening dumb game shows and stupid UNtalent shows. so what if its True Blood light? it is fun, love the mens and lets see some ass AND DONG! keep it nbc...you have very little else worth watching.

by Anonymousreply 92August 9, 2017 12:44 PM

Arnaud has a bit of a middle-age spread going on in his midsection and it drives me wild! His legs and ass are pure muscle, though. The Sookie knock off he's porking is a full three to four levels below him on the attractiveness scale and it's a bit bizarre seeing them make out. There's zero chemistry between them as well.

The black vampire actor has an American accent, but also an English one, and an Australian one as well? How does that work then? Did they mean to give off the impression that he's well-travelled?

How do you think Charlaine Harris felt when saw this adaptation for the first time on screen, especially after True Blood? But I guess money don't stink, so she'll be fine, the hack.
I feel a migraine coming on.
You don't [italic]really[/italic] have a migraine, do you?

Some of the worst writing on TV right now. And I love it!

by Anonymousreply 93August 10, 2017 2:28 PM
The Bachelorette and American Ninja Warrior were the only network shows with higher ratings Monday.

High praise indeed!

by Anonymousreply 94August 10, 2017 2:34 PM

R94, that those shows have any ratings is just proof of the decline and fall of American society.

This show is pure cheesy fun thought.

by Anonymousreply 95August 10, 2017 11:17 PM

The guy at the beginning who got eaten first... was sofa king hot!

by Anonymousreply 96August 15, 2017 4:42 AM

Why didn't the hot guy tell the girl he stood up that his house had been ransacked?!? That's annoying.

He was obviously concerned about a hidden underground bunker being found... wonder what's in there.

by Anonymousreply 97August 15, 2017 4:48 AM
He was obviously concerned about a hidden underground bunker being found... wonder what's in there.

Since he seems such a cheesy do gooder I wonder if his secret is some sort of Jekyll vs. Hyde thing where he hides an evil alter ego?

by Anonymousreply 98August 15, 2017 9:18 AM

I wonder what his abnormality is.

by Anonymousreply 99August 15, 2017 10:04 PM

I just wish someone would teach the obviously straight guys playing the gay couple how to kiss. That was embarrassingly bad.

by Anonymousreply 100August 15, 2017 11:58 PM

Right? On par with Malek.

Still, the show is fun enough for a Monday night.

by Anonymousreply 101August 16, 2017 3:36 AM

Goddammit. Some stupid ninja reality show ran long, so my DVR only recorded half.

And they make you wait two weeks before making an episode available for streaming. So I guess I have to just wait for a couple of weeks to see it, goddammit.

WTF.

by Anonymousreply 102August 22, 2017 4:03 AM

They should have changed up from the books and made Manfred gay.

by Anonymousreply 103August 22, 2017 4:09 AM

Don't blame the ninja show. (Didn't you watch for the hunky guys participating?) It was Twitler and his damned address that messed up the schedule.

by Anonymousreply 104August 22, 2017 4:11 AM

It's NBC so it will be canceled

by Anonymousreply 105August 22, 2017 4:18 AM

Midnight, Texas is based on the book series of the same name by author Charlaine Harris who also wrote The Southern Vampire Mysteries, the novels which were adapted into the True Blood television series.

by Anonymousreply 106August 22, 2017 4:24 AM

Has anyone read the Midnight books? Are they any good. The Sookie Steakhouse books were not great, but at least they were entertaining.

by Anonymousreply 107August 22, 2017 4:28 AM

I love how fast the stories move on this show. It reminds me of early Vampire Diaries before the originals came and never left.

by Anonymousreply 108August 22, 2017 11:59 AM

Just watched the first episode liked it

by Anonymousreply 109August 22, 2017 2:14 PM

Manfred is a ridiculous name.

He looked cute when he let his jilted bride into his body. The mannerisms were totally indicative of an upset young woman. . They should let him do more of that.

Alistair! Get a kick out of that actor always playing some demonic bad guy.

Glad those racist assholes are all dead. At the hands of a black vampire, no less!

by Anonymousreply 110August 23, 2017 12:07 AM

I want to eat him. Now.

by Anonymousreply 111August 23, 2017 12:15 AM

"Oh my beeswax, the cat talks" Hee. They shoulda gotten Leslie Jordan to do the voice. It would've been a hoot

And that poor armadildo. Precious little citizen

by Anonymousreply 112August 23, 2017 3:01 PM

Finally saw the episode (came available on On Demand today). I have to say, while the plot advanced at light-speed ... it was the weakest episode of the season so far. Not nearly as fun as previous ones.

Did love the bit about the cat, and the armadillo, R112... best moments of the show.

by Anonymousreply 113August 24, 2017 1:55 AM
Manfred is a ridiculous name.

I assume it's a normal name in Germany.

R111, Bobo is certainly one hot fucker. I loved Dylan Bruce in Orphan Black but his character was basically a psycho. I stopped watching Orphan Black after two seasons so no idea if he really was. I'm just enjoying him way more as Bobo.

by Anonymousreply 114August 26, 2017 1:05 AM

Wow... really good episode tonight. A bit predictable, but still, loved it.

by Anonymousreply 115August 29, 2017 3:05 AM

The end of this episode was actually decent as opposed to camp. (See? The succubus from the last ep was right!)

by Anonymousreply 116August 29, 2017 2:43 PM

Please consider giving this thread a WW so it gets ungreyed. I can't believe people are so petty and FF threads they're not interested in instead of blocking them. Like, how spiteful can you get?!

by Anonymousreply 117August 29, 2017 5:38 PM

What does FF mean?

by Anonymousreply 118August 29, 2017 7:53 PM

R118 Flames and Freaks (the red button next to WW). Should be used on abusive and trollish posts and threads. Instead, many these days also use it to remove threads they find annoying. A thread that receives enough FFs gets hidden, which means users with more delicate settings will never get to see it at all.

I have the most undelicate settings, and I no longer see it in the main feed, only in the watched panel. Fucking cunts

Aw darn. Connor turned out to be the serial killer (and not his Dad). But the show is pretty good except a few CGI problems (like the scene where Connor and his sister are driving).

by Anonymousreply 121August 29, 2017 8:27 PM

It was so obvious that Connor was the killer. But I still like the show. It's a fun diversion. And the Angel showed who he is and used "his light", as he described it. He also said "they" would be coming for him if "they" knew there was a fallen angel around. Looks like next week another fallen angel will be coming for him.

There's enough mystery to the show and its characters that I'm intrigued to find out more. I hope they keep it a summer series and do a few more seasons. It's nice to have something to watch Monday nights during the summer.

by Anonymousreply 122August 29, 2017 10:27 PM

Thanks to everyone who pitched in their WWs and brought this thread out of the greys!

I feel like Arnaud is the only one doing serious acting in this show and the rest are either laughable or incapable. I mean, what the hell was Connor's dad doing when he was sad there at the end? Has that actor ever seen anyone cry before?!

When was it established that the angel's boyfriend left town? Did I miss that or was it just never shown? That [italic]was[/italic] his boyfriend he was calling at the end of the episode, right?

I'll never get over the mismatch between Arnaud and his girlfriend (can't even remember her name). No chemistry there whatsoever.

by Anonymousreply 123August 30, 2017 12:03 AM

I thought the angel's boyfriend was a horrible actor and so glad he's gone...it's could also be they don't want to push the "gay" angle too much or don't want to continue to pay his guest star salary. Jason Lewis was originally supposed to be guest star status but then got bumped to series regular - he still looks smoking hot! Don't understand why the director had Creek - the traumatized sister - drive the Angel and Vampire back to town in the truck when the two guys could have driven (Ha!) and why Jason had that hideous shawl wrapped around his gorgeous bod when they got out of the car. And yep, the majority of the acting is really bad but I like it - nice eye candy, moves fast, and check your brain at the door fun.

by Anonymousreply 124August 30, 2017 12:12 AM

LOL, R124, definitely check your brain at the door fun! Great description. With so many TV shows trying to be dark and moody, it's nice to have something light and frothy. A sugary, airy confection, but satisfies your sweet-tooth.

by Anonymousreply 125August 30, 2017 12:16 AM

Right [125]! Part of the fun is just how horrible the acting and dialogue can sink to! It's getting a 0.9 in the ratings so there's some hope it'll come back next season - all the male actors should be shirtless all the time to help ensure a return . Also, [123] for the *thankfully* absent boyfriend, in the Succubus episode Jason Lewis mentioned he was at a "Nail Convention" (no gay stereotype here!) but yep, last episode he just blurted out that he sent him away. Maybe the boyfriend is a demon and Jason fell in love with him so that's why he's fallen. It's actually a nice balance after watching Game of Thrones and Twin Peaks :-)

by Anonymousreply 126August 30, 2017 12:38 AM

Love this fun mindless show more and more. Terrible acting mostly but that is true for most genre shows. Love all the hot guys too. This show is better than the novels. Now if They would up the budget for some sets! And teach some of those fish to act.

by Anonymousreply 127August 30, 2017 1:26 AM

I'm undecided as to whether this show is a guilty pleasure, or just a plain old pleasure.

I like it.

I'm admitting it.

by Anonymousreply 128August 30, 2017 1:34 AM

Now if only a certain small sub-segment of a particular fandom would tune in for the gay angel, they could leave my favorite tv show alone.

Plus this angel is way hotter than the other idiot.

by Anonymousreply 129August 30, 2017 1:38 AM

Looking at the next episode promos it's a female bounty hunter angel that comes after the HOT ANGEL..writers missed a golden opportunity to have two shirtless hot angels go at it! Don't they realise their audience is gay men and straight women?!?! Morons

by Anonymousreply 130August 30, 2017 5:51 AM

SOO TRUE! Straight men do not watch shows like this. Get those hot men shirtless and get them in shorts, jockey shorts too! Show hairy legs and armpits, nips, cute butts. That angel could ask for anything he wants from me. This is a fun series that makes you forget the world for an hour. We need other series like this, just fun without a message.

by Anonymousreply 131August 30, 2017 11:32 AM

I'm pretty sure everyone involved in this show sees it as a serious drama where they should be doing it as campy fun! Bobo should be in booty shorts and nothing else in every scene and everyone acts if it's perfectly normal. HOT Angel and lead guy just walk around shirtless and all their scenes should be in the Midnight gym - though given the budget it's probably in the back of the diner with a couple of milk jugs but that's fine as long as they do a lot of bends, squats and military presses lol

by Anonymousreply 132August 30, 2017 11:56 PM

Was True Blood a show aimed at a straight male demographic? I don't think so. I'd guess it's the same with this one. But with NBC I bet there are a few restrictions on how camp (aka. gay) the show can be.

by Anonymousreply 133August 31, 2017 8:34 AM

This week's episode was so ridiculous. I'll keep watching though.

by Anonymousreply 134September 5, 2017 4:51 AM

th gay angel was on sex and th city with the old hag . samantha ho. He is still hot but looks 60!

by Anonymousreply 135September 6, 2017 4:13 PM

I think the angel is a total hottie but, omg! Every time I see him I want to reach inside my tv and put his hair up in a scrunchie!!!

Hate, hate, hate his unruly locks!

I wonder what visage the demon had when the angel fell in love with him. Cause dude be ugly as hell.

by Anonymousreply 136September 6, 2017 4:22 PM
Has anyone read the Midnight books? Are they any good. The Sookie Steakhouse books were not great, but at least they were entertaining.

I read the first two and I liked them a lot. That's why I was really looking forward to this show for almost a year. The writing is similar in many ways to the [italic]Sookie[/italic] books.
I think the angel is a total hottie but, omg! Every time I see him I want to reach inside my tv and put his hair up in a scrunchie!!! Hate, hate, hate his unruly locks!

I [bold]love[/bold] unruly locks. *sigh*

by Anonymousreply 137September 6, 2017 11:56 PM

They really need to work on the affection and especially the kissing. I've never seen two more blatantly straight men try to do a gay kiss that they so clearly don't want to do and just utterly fail to be even remotely convincing.

Still, love the show. I mean, it's terrible, but it's so much fun. And the lead guy is really hot.

by Anonymousreply 138September 7, 2017 2:28 AM

Arnaud is pretty great in this. That Southern Twang in his voice when he was posessed by him Grandmother was pretty good. The show itself is pretty basic but the casting is great (almost on a Gotham level).

Bowie, the Angel Bounty Hunter, was played by Breeda Wool. She played the closeted Lesbian contestant, Faith Duluthn, in the first season of Unreal.

by Anonymousreply 139September 8, 2017 5:14 PM

Arnaud is actually a good actor and seems to be the only one on the show giving a quality performance. He is sexy as hell, too. I love all the underwear shots.

by Anonymousreply 140September 8, 2017 11:32 PM

So.... Good episode. Only two more left.

Next episode is on Wednesday for some reason, then the finale in a week.

by Anonymousreply 141September 12, 2017 5:15 AM

Mindless fun. I hope it comes back next summer. The only thing I hate is the Creek character. She is such a bore and a bland actress.

by Anonymousreply 142September 12, 2017 12:38 PM

Exactly, R142.

She is so, so bland! I don't like her at all for Manfred.

He should be with that curandera woman, Fiji.

No angel again this week. At least I won't despair over his ugly ass, unconditioned hair!

Is the grandma really gone for good? I liked her.

by Anonymousreply 143September 12, 2017 6:40 PM

Yeah... losing the grandmother is upsetting. I really liked her. But of course, she has to move on eventually.

by Anonymousreply 144September 13, 2017 1:17 AM

I was hoping she gets some big exit like sacrificing her energy or something to defeat some baddie. But I guess that means she is at peace now.

by Anonymousreply 145September 13, 2017 1:23 AM

Don't forget... another new episode tonight!

For some reason.

by Anonymousreply 146September 14, 2017 1:49 AM

Is it some fucking vampire/zombie shit? So fed up with that.

by Anonymousreply 147September 14, 2017 1:51 AM

(rolling eyes at R147)

No zombies. Only one vampire (save for one episode which had an entire pack).

by Anonymousreply 148September 14, 2017 1:52 AM

Next week is the finale!

by Anonymousreply 149September 14, 2017 3:21 AM

Loved it. I wondered how they were going to get two more episodes out of the show before the end, and now I know... and that was well done.

by Anonymousreply 150September 14, 2017 4:09 AM

That was great!

Poor Fiji.

by Anonymousreply 151September 14, 2017 5:57 PM

Can you catch up on this series anywhere?

by Anonymousreply 152September 14, 2017 10:03 PM

On Demand, I imagine.

by Anonymousreply 153September 14, 2017 10:55 PM

Fiji did a great job playing her younger self. She seemed at least a decade younger and 15 pounds thinner. Not quite sure how she pulled off the latter.

by Anonymousreply 154September 15, 2017 5:57 AM

It's on hulu and the NBC app.

by Anonymousreply 155September 15, 2017 2:49 PM

Well she wears all flowy, loose material, kinda hiding her figure.

Now we know why 😳😳

by Anonymousreply 156September 15, 2017 4:31 PM

Whom did they sacrifice? The cat's not dead. Manny's not dead. I call shenanigans

by Anonymousreply 157September 15, 2017 8:26 PM

We didn't see the cat after Manfred woke up again. Or Manfred and Fiji misunderstood the spell and the one asking the question has to be "dead" in order to be able to ask the question and receive the answer.

by Anonymousreply 158September 15, 2017 8:59 PM

Um... the main character died. DUH. Did you pay any attention at all??

by Anonymousreply 159September 15, 2017 11:35 PM

He died but he got better.

by Anonymousreply 160September 16, 2017 6:26 AM

Love the cat.

So, is it being renewed? It's silly and the episodes feel rushed, but it's amusing.

Imagine if HBO or Showtime had picked it up, we'd be seeing some male butts.

by Anonymousreply 161September 16, 2017 8:55 AM

Well?

by Anonymousreply 162September 17, 2017 2:44 AM

Finale tonight!

by Anonymousreply 163September 19, 2017 2:00 AM

a wedding; how cute; and a nice teaser for season two (we hope).

by Anonymousreply 164September 19, 2017 2:34 AM

Seemed a little easy, but hey, still a fun show and I still hope it gets a new season.

by Anonymousreply 165September 19, 2017 3:13 AM

Right? It was wrapped up nicely.

A lot of sex, too, but just a kiss for the angel and the demon... Half hidden by that damn unruly hair.

Hopefully it does come back.

by Anonymousreply 166September 19, 2017 4:17 AM
Hopefully it does come back.

The ratings for the finale tied the series high and matched the premiere ratings.

Apparently people started tuning in as the season progressed.

NBC kept Grimm on the air for years. It looks likely because of that, this will get another season.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 167September 19, 2017 11:16 AM

It was wrapped up a little to quickly. It was treated like any of the other one day bad guys. But I loved that they did the "If he wants a virgin, let's fuck" solution. I hope it comes back but they need to recast boring Creek and the boyfriend of the Angel. He's to bland.

by Anonymousreply 168September 19, 2017 1:31 PM

Where the hell did that Creek actress come from?

Good Jesus she's horrible and non-descript. Boring and bland.

If she's supposed to be the audience I hope we're a hell of a lot more interesting than that.

by Anonymousreply 169September 19, 2017 1:45 PM

I wish the gay lovers weren't so obviously two straight guys who have no idea how gay men show affection.

by Anonymousreply 170September 19, 2017 2:19 PM
Where the hell did that Creek actress come from?

She was on "Parenthood" as the Bravermans' lesbian daughter.

by Anonymousreply 171September 19, 2017 4:58 PM

Finished this yesterday. So bad.

Of course they used the mother of all tropes for the finale: a straight couple has to have sex in order to save the world. In other words: there's nothing more detrimental to the fate of humanity than a woman who's never been penetrated. Also, "It needs me to die" is such awkward phrasing to my ears for some reason.

I'm glad the grandma is no more. She's tied with the preacher for being the worst actor in the cast. Is she even accredited as an actor or did they just pull someone off the street?

R136 Those aren't even locks, it's just strawy hair that needs to be cut off immediately. He's too old to be rocking his Sex And The City hair; it makes him look like an old angry lesbian.

R169 It actually makes me upset that they would pair Arnaud with someone so plain and bland and expect their relationship to be believable. As an aside, she desperately needs bangs like no one's ever needed bangs before. Either that or a personality transplant.

by Anonymousreply 172September 21, 2017 7:04 PM

R172: It was upsetting primarily because his character was so wrapped up in her that it wasn't that believable. Cesare and Lucrezia (on The Borgias) were very believable even before they took it there.

by Anonymousreply 173September 24, 2017 7:38 PM

R172, seriously, I mean this with love, get over yourself.

(smh)

by Anonymousreply 174September 25, 2017 12:06 AM

He's entitled to an opinion, besides. I was the one who made the points about the dudes' hair and the boring, bland creep or creek, whatever.

by Anonymousreply 175September 25, 2017 2:50 AM

Any word is this was picked up. I haven't heard anything.

by Anonymousreply 176October 19, 2017 11:45 AM

Good news, everyone! Franny/Manny will be back to mole about in the second season. Oh, my beeswax, indeed

by Anonymousreply 177February 15, 2018 3:35 PM

I hope they show a lot more ass in the 2nd series

by Anonymousreply 178February 15, 2018 4:59 PM

I'm glad it's coming back, put I'm even really happy that the really boring female love interest for the main guy is not coming back.

by Anonymousreply 179February 16, 2018 1:12 PM

I thought about his crapfest just now because it's the perfect summer show to watch while your brain is all frazzled from heat and sangria. Unfortunately, Reddit tells me NBC decided to air it in the autumn. Boo! That's like airing Glow during wintertime, just wrong.
Additionally, two cast members from Season 1 — Sarah Ramos and Yul Vazquez — will not be coming back as series regulars. The hope is for them to appear as guest stars, reprising their characters. Because of the long gap between the time the show shot its first season and was renewed for a second, I hear the options on at least some of the actors had lapsed. I also hear Ramos was courted to come back full time.

Oh, happy days! The worst two things about this show are no more. Why the fuck they would court her to come back is beyond me. I do wonder how the new showrunners will impact the show; Lord knows this garbage can only improve.

Manfred is fucking gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 184October 29, 2018 1:54 PM

^^^ that he is. Having Franny run around in his chonies was a nice touch. Unforch the ratings are in the turlet, and Cancel Bear is all but calling it.

by Anonymousreply 185October 31, 2018 6:49 PM

Yul Vasquez is the preacher? I liked his character...will they be killing him off I wonder?

by Anonymousreply 186October 31, 2018 7:03 PM

I was shocked it even got a second season. All the shit I like usually gets cancelled.

by Anonymousreply 187October 31, 2018 7:17 PM

r183, Boss, da buuush, DA BUUSH!

by Anonymousreply 188October 31, 2018 7:19 PM

I like the show. It's slightly edgier than a feel-good show on Lifetime.

by Anonymousreply 189November 1, 2018 1:57 PM

Who else is watching with me?

by Anonymousreply 190November 10, 2018 1:52 AM

me

by Anonymousreply 191November 10, 2018 1:56 AM

Wow. Another hot episode with Dylan Bruce "naked" in the shower (damn you, steam!). Josh Kelly is a great addition to the show as Walker hitting on Joe. Only realized in this episode that I know Josh Kelly from UnREAL. Of course they had to come up with a stupid reason why Bobo and Fijy had to break up.

by Anonymousreply 192November 10, 2018 3:33 PM

Manny and the wifey are totes gonna bone, right?

by Anonymousreply 193November 16, 2018 7:08 PM
Unforch the ratings are in the turlet, and Cancel Bear is all but calling it.

The show did well as a [bold]summer show[/bold] but they're killing it by putting it on during the regular fall season.
Wow. Another hot episode with Dylan Bruce "naked" in the shower (damn you, steam!).

That's the other problem with this show being set in the True Blood universe it would thrive on cable or streaming. NBC is never going to let it go all out.

by Anonymousreply 194November 17, 2018 1:27 AM

The writing feels so clumsy, almost teen show like, at times. Like the writers learned how to write for the show from George Lucas.

by Anonymousreply 195November 17, 2018 5:10 PM

We know how powerful Figy is, why doesn't she remove the curse HERSELF.

She is be the most powerful citizen of Midnight.

And enough with Manfred sucking in ghost smoke.

Expand his powers.

And the red headded wife who looks like the Viberzi actress, you KNOW she has something up her...sleeve...

by Anonymousreply 196November 17, 2018 6:14 PM

Wow. Total drama! And of course the twist that probably everybody saw coming of who is the other twin.

by Anonymousreply 197December 17, 2018 10:34 PM

Angel kills his demon lover of a thousand years after lover demon found out that the angel hooked up with a common, human demon hunter.

by Anonymousreply 198December 17, 2018 10:38 PM

Creek came back only to get murdered (probably by Patience).

by Anonymousreply 199December 17, 2018 10:39 PM

Why did he clip his own wings? So he's just done being an angel now?

by Anonymousreply 200December 17, 2018 10:40 PM

The whole Fiji gone bad witch storyline is just terrible. I mean I get that the show needs drama at all times, but imho Parisa Fitz-Henley can't pull it off.

by Anonymousreply 201December 17, 2018 10:42 PM

I am shipping Fiji and Manfred. Bobo is way too man for her.

by Anonymousreply 202December 17, 2018 11:05 PM

I love this show. I can't explain why. It's campy fun. With hot guys.

by Anonymousreply 203December 17, 2018 11:50 PM

More Josh Kelly please... less chick drama with Patience/Hipatia. Manfred isn't the hottest guy on the screen when gay cowboy Josh is gracing the screen. Damn, Kelly is one sexy ginger. 😍

by Anonymousreply 204December 22, 2018 6:55 AM
imho Parisa Fitz-Henley can't pull it off.

I disagree, she may not be consistent, but she was really good in that scene where she discovered the trickster. Probably because the scene was low key.

by Anonymousreply 205December 22, 2018 9:20 AM

It’s canceled.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 206December 22, 2018 9:45 AM

Thank god R206. I caught part of the episode where the redheaded chick and mixed chick were trying to summon something. I couldn't help but be distracted by the redheads forced British accent. Just.....no

When that's how ur episode starts , I know the rest has to be bad.

by Anonymousreply 207December 22, 2018 9:48 AM

Fuck off, R207. The show was fun. I'm surprised it got a second season, so I'm thankful it did. But I'm still disappointed it's been canceled.

by Anonymousreply 208December 22, 2018 3:21 PM

So the season finale, next week, is the end of the series?

by Anonymousreply 209December 22, 2018 10:48 PM

Apparently so.

It says they're still shopping the show around for another home, but frankly, I'm not hopeful.

by Anonymousreply 210December 23, 2018 2:34 AM

The show just got incredibly complicated in the last two episodes.

I can't imagine anyone picking up this mess.

It is turning out to be a soap opera worthy of a Timmy "Passions" martini.

by Anonymousreply 211December 23, 2018 6:17 AM

Well, at least they sewed up ALL the loose ends.

by Anonymousreply 212December 29, 2018 4:22 AM

I'm going to miss this show. For sure.

by Anonymousreply 213December 29, 2018 4:46 AM

Figi ended up a Good Witch.

by Anonymousreply 214December 29, 2018 4:58 AM

A fitting end to the series I guess... but it's annoying that it ended on a cliffhanger we'll never get any resolution to.

by Anonymousreply 215December 29, 2018 5:32 AM

So the series ended with the Midnight Knight walking into town.

Never thought that Kai would be the good guy.

by Anonymousreply 216December 29, 2018 4:50 PM

It's annoying as fuck that they canceled it. If they'd left it as a Summer show, it would have done so much better. But they buried it on Friday nights and wondered why the ratings fell. Studio dumbasses.

by Anonymousreply 217December 29, 2018 5:01 PM

And Bobo gave the foreshadowing that the soul of the someone not met was going to be their child's.

Oh, those Monkey Paw, Loki, Devil's Bargain hi-jinks...

by Anonymousreply 218December 29, 2018 5:30 PM

I will miss those hot studs.

by Anonymousreply 219December 31, 2018 2:10 AM

I gonna miss it too. That trickster actor was some good-ass casting. He's creepy AF. I think this is one of those shows that should have gone straight to Netflix or Hulu instead of a major network. Like Constantine, Dracula, Hannibal, Exorcist, Damian, etc. These networks just don't seem very supportive of these types of shows.

Yeah, there are some hot dudes on this show. Shit, ALL the dudes are hot. Especially, Josh Kelly.

by Anonymousreply 220December 31, 2018 10:24 AM

I really loved this show. Just mindless fun with the best eye candy on TV. Hopefully a cable network picks it up and gets the cast as naked as possible.

R220 You are right, they didn't support it. Leaving it off the air for over a year and then dumping it on Fridays.

by Anonymousreply 221December 31, 2018 1:49 PM

I have never seen so many hot men kiss so deeply on a show.

The Angel, the Demon and the Demon Hunter should be on Pornhub...

by Anonymousreply 222December 31, 2018 4:33 PM

Oh well. Just had the finale in the UK. Going to miss it. Fun, sit and wallow entertainment (it's not going to get picked up - it's not a superhero show)

by Anonymousreply 223January 3, 2019 9:13 PM

Francois Arnaud needs a new project. I love him and he's a good actor.

by Anonymousreply 224January 3, 2019 9:23 PM

I'm guessing there's a zero-point-zero-zero-one chance of some other place picking this show up... sad. I think it'd be great on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon Prime.

by Anonymousreply 225January 4, 2019 6:27 AM

Lifetime would probably take it, but cut its budget and say no to the "gay" stuff.

by Anonymousreply 226January 4, 2019 9:25 AM
I have never seen so many hot men kiss so deeply on a show.
