That's what's behind the attempt at radical transformation of America's demographics. Poor, stupid, immoral people are much more likely to embrace socialism/communism/revolution

Yeah, no.
Wonder how many Berniebros voted for Turnip with the idea that their vote would help precipitate the Revolution.

Every Communist country in history has been anti-gay, and their recent overtures to alphabet soup propagandists makes me think they, too, want to ritually mutilate gay people.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 16, 2017 1:26 PM |
China today still calls itself Communist and is still anti-gay. They just censored all gay content on the internet. They won't even let you use DataLounge! Is this what you want, OP, you fucking fascist?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 16, 2017 1:33 PM |
Nice try, nazi bots.
We know that you nazis believe that everyone who isn't a nazi must be a commie. But that's because you're soooooo incredibly stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 16, 2017 1:38 PM |
Communism and Nazism are two sides of the same coin. Remember the Nazi-Soviet pact.

I am not in favor of communism but people get triggered to easily by the word communism. They tend to equate communism with totalitarianism because all nations that have had a communist form of government have also been totalitarian and extremely corrupt.
Think of communes, a community of people living together, sharing common interests, often having common values and beliefs, as well as shared property, possessions and resources. That is also communism and where the name communism comes from.
I don't favor communism because it lacks the needed component of incentive. There is no incentive to be more productive because you gain very little from the added effort. The laziest person gets the same as the hardest working.
A combination of socialism and capitalism works the best and rewards people for their effort while providing a safety net.

It's so curious to me that Marxist/ Communists can wave the hammer and sickle banner around with impunity and social acceptance even though its an emblem of brutality and genocide(resulting in millions upon millions of deaths) yet those who fly the swastika (AS THEY SHOULD BE) are denounced and cast out of society. I guess that's due in part to the fact that academe(at least in the social sciences) has been, for the last 50 years, infiltrated and taken over by neo-Marxist and incipient Communist ideologues.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 27, 2017 2:33 AM |
The US is already a socialist country.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 27, 2017 2:36 AM |
The "modern hard Left" is just the same as the OLD Communist,Stalinist, Maoist one. A murderous, authoritarian socio/political ideology responsible for the deaths of a hundred million people. I'ts just been re-branded as "postmodernism" and instead of using the terms "proletariat" and "bourgeoisie", we now have "oppressor" and "oppressed".
But please don't think homosexual men are one of their preferred "marginalized" groups.
Many global Communist and Marxist organizations disapprove of homosexuality. They find it strange and unrelatable and a distraction from their mainstream political aims. Up until recently the Revolutionary Communist Party USA's official policy was
"the elimination of homosexuality" and the "rehabilitation of homosexuals".
The Communist Party of Great Britain is also uncomfortable with the concept as it see's it's working-class, masculine identity as "incompatible" with homosexuality.
The Castro regime declared homosexuals "a deviation incompatible with the revolution" and criminalized it. Many gays along with other cultural "undesirables" were sent to concentration camps where they were brutally treated. Castro followed the model enacted in the former Soviet Union which, from Stalin and throughout the Cold War, was equally punitive and murderous to gay men.
These stories are just the tip of the iceberg but the point is to demonstrate that just because heterosexual, neo-Marxist/Socialist activists, academics, politician - s,intellectuals and their acolytes in the media seem to stand against "oppression" be aware that to them oppression is a hierarchy and gays are not the favored group to throw the weight of the movement behind. If anything gays are looked upon as a messy distraction from their attempts to mainstream their social/economic political goals.
If we look at history there ARE undeniable examples that might explain the reason we still see a lot of hostility towards gays and homosexuality on the hard Left. Just because these guys claim to champion the underdog, remember, they're just MORTAL MEN and are subject to the same prejudices, cruelties, hatreds, authoritarianism and murderous impulses as what we see on the far right. People are people and the more extreme any given identity group may get the more they start looking and behaving like what they CLAIM to stand in opposition to. It's called the "horse shoe theory".
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 27, 2017 2:36 AM |
This reminds me of an office in Dublin I walk past that on it's window has a picture of Che Guevara superimposed on a rainbow flag. The Guevara who led Cuba while gay men were herded into concentration camps. Gays for Communism may as well be Jews for Hitler the end result for us is the same.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 27, 2017 2:39 AM |
R39. There is no such thing as a “modern hard left”. That’s just alt-Right propaganda. They have a habit of projecting their own excesses and faults onto others.

Dear OP, (Tania, formerly of Hillsborough, CA) you posted this 3 weeks ago.

by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 20, 2018 3:14 AM |
I used to think so when I was young and beautiful, but now that I'm an old crone I've thought again. Many of the better ideas of Communism such as free medical care, free education or job security and an end to unemployment are pretty much attainable under the present system. The closest the US was to a Communist revolution was during the Great Depression of the 1930s and although they polled the largest number of votes during that time, it hardly came close despite a certain amount of labor unrest and strikes. The 1960s, for all its protests with some calling for revolution, was largely an expression of the need for greater civil rights coupled with a growing opposition to the war in Vietnam, IMO.

Kind of like how a Republican form of government was easy for corporations to overrun too. There is a solution but nobody is brave enough to propose it.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 16, 2020 7:52 PM |
Has OP or any of the advocates for Communism talked with those who have lived under it?
Cuba eliminated unemployment. After 6 months those still unemployed under Castro were put in prison.
Under the Social Democrats after 3 weeks of unemployment benefits workers were given a menial labor job. Almost all quickly found a much better position more suited to their skills.
A former USSR worker laughed at ANTIFA protesting when they didn't get paid their promised wages. Under Communism he said, one was lucky to get a dry sandwich and a small bottle of water in exchange for a full day's hard labor.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 8, 2020 2:24 AM |
Just another mendacious, weak minded attempt to yoke "communism" with "socialism" in the public mind. There is no communism any more.... and while Cuba's socialism (and to a lesser extent countries like Venezuela) has some similarities to old communist state, the social democracies of Western Europe do have ideas which the USA desperately need.
So, no, faux Boris, not here, not now. But do we want to be Denmark or Norway, well hell yeah, it's time.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 8, 2020 2:28 AM |
You're still glorifying white European economic theories to an uncomfortable degree.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 8, 2020 2:31 AM |
im cuban and communists think that homosexuality is a product of capitalism. communism and socialism is just a form of facism, in fact, countries such as hungary and poland give a lot of money to families depending on the number of children they have, these facists have a lot of social programs to benefit the "family institution" and are very similar to christian groups.
im a democrat and I will never vote republican but it is important to be aware that there are radical left groups that have been trying to take over the democratic party and other social movements such as BLM.
I still dont know why those freaking communists dont go to cuba and live there instead of being so oppressed buying the latest iphone and car of the year. if they like it so much then get on a plane and fucking move to a communist country and live your dream, but if course, it is easier to be a communist enjoying the comforts giving by capitalism.

R61 I disagree with much of your argument and assessment, but here's one point, especially in a digital space like DL: those forces in Hungary and Poland that are reactionary, and against marriage equality, and foster blatant, and sometimes violent, bigotry against gay people - are exactly NOT the socialists. They are (to oversimplify) crony-capitalist Catholics, with roots in white supremacist fascism.
The countries most accepting of gay people are the scandanavian socialist countries, and socialist Netherlands.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 8, 2020 4:27 PM |
r62 people seems to give socialism different meaning, for all practical porposes socialism is pretty much communism. netherland and scandinavian countries are capitalist countries with a sound democratic institution. poland and hungary are pretty much the same as china
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 8, 2020 4:53 PM |
R63 If you think communism and socialism are the same, there is no point in having a conversation. Socialism in Scandinavia: high taxes, both corporate and personal, in order to fund free education (including post-secondary), free universal health care, free universal childcare, guaranteed personal income, state support for the arts, centrally controlled economy with privately held enterprises welcomed, if guided- and free elections.
Again, read about Orban in Hungary and Duda in Poland... they are the absolute opposite of democratic socialism. Authoritarian, Christo-fascist.... the Catholics who fought against communism for many decades behind the Iron Curtain now rule as corrupt dictators who generate support demonizing immigrants and gay people.
