WTF? He is the Fantastic Beasts star. Just finished film 2.

Well, I guess doing a "children's franchise" is better than not eating. And doing recycled J.K. Rowling, well, let's just say that Daniel Radcliffe has been there and done that.

Children/recycled whatever - Fastastic Beasts grossed 812 million. He is absolutely fine and just beginning $$$

by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 10, 2017 3:59 AM |
Fastastic = Fantastic of course :)

I guess even after her Oscar win, Meryl had to take on some schlocky movies. But kiddie shows won't get you an EGOT.

Sad trombone sound for the OP.

She was wonderful as The Danish Go-Round!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 10, 2017 4:22 AM |
I guess doing a franchise brings him security. Soon enough he'll be begging for character roles at scale.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 10, 2017 4:16 PM |
A bit of period biopic overload slowed him down in the drama department, I think. If he re-emerges, a nice, suburban present-day drama might be good for him. I would like to see him as an abusive husband or maybe a guy who has to do some shady business dealings to stay in the game.

He’s doing his money maker pictures. If an actor gets into a Franchise like Harry Potter they make vast amounts of money in royalties. This lets them pick and choose what other work they do.
Winning an Oscar isn’t really a license to get well paid work. In fact, nowadays a lot of actors who win Oscars don’t do anything spectacular after.

Cancel Eddie Redmayne bc he worked with Johnny Depp
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 15, 2018 12:23 AM |
To continue his career trajectory, he needed a hit film, and Fantastic Beasts provided that. He couldn't continue just continue doing prestige films forever: He needed to be the lead in a hit film (his last hit was a supporting role in 2012's Les Misérables).
All actors have to consider taking on these roles in studio films to maintain their visibility and relevance. I'm pretty sure most people at a similar level of fame as him would kill for the lead in Fantastic Beasts as it will provide him with string of hits for several years to come.

I remember him from that horrible movie where he was fucking his mom (played by Julliane Moore) and killed her.

Lots of actors do credible stuff first and then get hired based on their credible career to give the blockbuster franchise some whiff of credibility.
I am sure Eddie cries all the way to the bank, because OP considers him a has-been by now.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 16, 2018 8:44 AM |
R12, Adele would be great as Nancy but I think Eddie Redmayne is a little too old to play Oliver.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 16, 2018 8:48 AM |
R20, actors don’t make royalties and I seriously doubt Eddie Redmayne gets a percentage of the gross, especially on a pre-sold JK Rowling franchise. The upshot for him is visibility and enhancing his Q rating which will at least ensure him future work on tv.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 16, 2018 8:53 AM |
Did you just say actors don't make royalties?????? [R31]
They're called residuals, but...um...yeah

R20 is right Daniel Radcliffe did well with the HP franchise his net worth is $120 million, He can pick and choose his roles now or never bother working again.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 16, 2018 9:37 AM |
He's a rich toff who fancied acting. He's probably buying a third house or something.
