Eddie Redmayne

What happened to Eddie Redmayne's career? Last we saw him, he was playing that Danish transsexual. Haven't heard from him since. Is he ovah?

by Anonymousreply 45January 16, 2018 7:07 PM

WTF? He is the Fantastic Beasts star. Just finished film 2.

by Anonymousreply 1July 10, 2017 3:48 AM

Well, I guess doing a "children's franchise" is better than not eating. And doing recycled J.K. Rowling, well, let's just say that Daniel Radcliffe has been there and done that.

by Anonymousreply 2July 10, 2017 3:52 AM

Children/recycled whatever - Fastastic Beasts grossed 812 million. He is absolutely fine and just beginning $$$

by Anonymousreply 3July 10, 2017 3:59 AM

Im in his ass

by Anonymousreply 4July 10, 2017 3:59 AM

Fastastic = Fantastic of course :)

by Anonymousreply 5July 10, 2017 4:00 AM

I guess even after her Oscar win, Meryl had to take on some schlocky movies. But kiddie shows won't get you an EGOT.

by Anonymousreply 6July 10, 2017 4:01 AM

Sad trombone sound for the OP.

by Anonymousreply 7July 10, 2017 4:13 AM

She was wonderful as The Danish Go-Round!

by Anonymousreply 8July 10, 2017 4:22 AM

I guess doing a franchise brings him security. Soon enough he'll be begging for character roles at scale.

A bit of period biopic overload slowed him down in the drama department, I think. If he re-emerges, a nice, suburban present-day drama might be good for him. I would like to see him as an abusive husband or maybe a guy who has to do some shady business dealings to stay in the game.

Eddie Redmayne and Adelephant are in talks about starring in a forthcoming musical film of Oliver!

by Anonymousreply 12October 10, 2017 5:10 PM

He was hysterical in Jupiter Ascending

He’s doing his money maker pictures. If an actor gets into a Franchise like Harry Potter they make vast amounts of money in royalties. This lets them pick and choose what other work they do.

Winning an Oscar isn’t really a license to get well paid work. In fact, nowadays a lot of actors who win Oscars don’t do anything spectacular after.

by Anonymousreply 22January 15, 2018 12:06 AM

Cancel Eddie Redmayne bc he worked with Johnny Depp

by Anonymousreply 23January 15, 2018 12:23 AM

To continue his career trajectory, he needed a hit film, and Fantastic Beasts provided that. He couldn't continue just continue doing prestige films forever: He needed to be the lead in a hit film (his last hit was a supporting role in 2012's Les Misérables).

All actors have to consider taking on these roles in studio films to maintain their visibility and relevance. I'm pretty sure most people at a similar level of fame as him would kill for the lead in Fantastic Beasts as it will provide him with string of hits for several years to come.

by Anonymousreply 24January 15, 2018 1:46 AM

Even Cumberbatch hopped on the Marvel train. That's just the reality of today's Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 25January 15, 2018 4:15 AM

r23 fuck off

by Anonymousreply 26January 16, 2018 7:06 AM

Barbra wanted him for Catherine the Great a film that will never happen.

by Anonymousreply 27January 16, 2018 8:07 AM

I remember him from that horrible movie where he was fucking his mom (played by Julliane Moore) and killed her.

by Anonymousreply 28January 16, 2018 8:35 AM

Lots of actors do credible stuff first and then get hired based on their credible career to give the blockbuster franchise some whiff of credibility.

I am sure Eddie cries all the way to the bank, because OP considers him a has-been by now.

by Anonymousreply 29January 16, 2018 8:44 AM

R12, Adele would be great as Nancy but I think Eddie Redmayne is a little too old to play Oliver.

by Anonymousreply 30January 16, 2018 8:48 AM

R20, actors don’t make royalties and I seriously doubt Eddie Redmayne gets a percentage of the gross, especially on a pre-sold JK Rowling franchise. The upshot for him is visibility and enhancing his Q rating which will at least ensure him future work on tv.

by Anonymousreply 31January 16, 2018 8:53 AM

Did you just say actors don't make royalties?????? [R31]

They're called residuals, but...um...yeah

by Anonymousreply 32January 16, 2018 9:02 AM

He has a tremendous future being a circumcised English actor!

by Anonymousreply 34January 16, 2018 9:16 AM

From all I can see, he seems like a decent person --- beyond his celebrity.

by Anonymousreply 35January 16, 2018 9:21 AM

R20 is right Daniel Radcliffe did well with the HP franchise his net worth is $120 million, He can pick and choose his roles now or never bother working again.

by Anonymousreply 36January 16, 2018 9:37 AM

He's a rich toff who fancied acting. He's probably buying a third house or something.

by Anonymousreply 37January 16, 2018 11:32 AM

His ass is Efronesque

by Anonymousreply 38January 16, 2018 11:38 AM

If there's one person I want to punch in the face for no apparent reason is this guy. He seems so phony I can't even explain it. I'd love to punch Tom Hardy in the face as well, but he's an asshole so theres that.

by Anonymousreply 39January 16, 2018 11:39 AM

Rita Tushingham stole all his roles.

by Anonymousreply 40January 16, 2018 11:44 AM

R26 It was a joke!

by Anonymousreply 41January 16, 2018 4:58 PM

He has an Oscar. I'd say h can rest on his laurels for as long as he wants.

by Anonymousreply 42January 16, 2018 5:02 PM

He can rest on my face.
