What are the rules for entire threads to be deleted?

Cue this thread for deletion in...3...2...1...

Completely arbitrary. Sometimes content. Sometimes enough trolls F&Fing it. Sometimes DL 3PM glitch. Archived threads often disappear into the ethers for no apparent reason.

I did notice all reference to the I am Jazz show have been eliminated as well. No more threads in the archives, no more in recent posts.

Is DL taking a stand on trans issues, officially now? No more posts of any kind related to gender reassignment? Or is it that one issue?

It sometimes seems that an aggressive PR person can get a thread removed.

So why are all jazz jennings threads now gone? Coincidence? There were 5 or 6, and just now, when the chickens were coming home to roost so to speak, and the parents were being made to realize the idiocy of hormone roulette, all discussion canceled.

I've noticed this more often too. It seems a bit random as the deleted posts and threads are far from the most offensive. While F&F button provides a certain level of participatory democracy, it also allows those with a heavy FF finger to be the censors.

The people corcerned about the T push have a right to be as it is homophobic and this is a gay website . The trans subject is heavily censored at most mainstream media sites so some people get very triggered when they read the uncensored opinions on this site.

the deletion of threads has always been slightly random

For more than a few months, any thread related to a certain C.omunale case was being deleted and nobody could understand why, although more recently, it made a bit more sense.

Threads often get deleted because the OP posts something that seems innocuous but when you go inside the thread you realize it was posted just so the OP can use it to start racist ranting inside. Kind of a bait and switch.

Well this recent jazz thread was good because only now is the show getting to a discussion of the long term effects of hormone blocking and micro-penises and especially, the defensiveness of the mother in claiming their decisions in regards to jazz's transition were the best ones they could have made and look at her, she's beautiful. And oh yeah, suicide.

While there ARE discussions on reddit that pertain, this was the most open and honest one and I'd hate to think it woulde censored by the buiness arm of TLC.

Yes , DL has a higher level of critical thinking (and wit) that should be valued.

Whenever I come across a thread I find it interesting or think I'll reference later, I'll click save as html. That way I have it forever.

I don't think TLC wants to censor anything, R43. They want to create buzz around their show so people will watch it. Just like with the Duggar family, they pretend to be treating the situation with respect but they are all too eager to reveal the family's strangeness to generate ratings.

During the show's first season, the editing was very favorable to the family and the whole trans topic. Of course, Jazz was younger so things were simpler.

But now Jazz is almost a legal adult and is starting to look like a train wreck in the making. The mom seems unbalanced and the dad always looks uncomfortable on camera.

The show has educated people about trans issues but I don't think viewers are reaching the conclusion that the trans community had hoped they might. The show demonstrates why young children shouldn't be transed.

This trainwreck of a thread (and its related thread, that the OP linked) was left up, even though the same OP's thread was deleted the prior day.

Young gay and lesbian lives are being destroyed by parents who want 15 minutes of fame. Jazz's mom wanted to be on Oprah and have fame through her young son, which she achieved to a degree. But once the TV series and attention are over, Jazz will be left a broken person facing a lifetime of loneliness. Horrible!

I think that if a thread threatens the existence of the site or will cost someone a chunk of change for whatever reason, it's deleted.

I recently started a thread about a minor internet celeb. I’m pretty sure that person found the thread and requested deletion (either themselves or via their legal team). It makes sense and I think the person should have the right to do so.

I take it as a compliment. It means my thread became *that* popular 😊
