Why is so much gay porn about straight guys having gay sex?

It seems like almost all gay porn is about straight men having gay sex.

You see it on "amateur" sites like Sean Cody and Corbin Fisher where straight guys are paid to try gay sex and the more successful ones learn to really like it-- CF even talks about the "CF Education" (Whether these guys are actually straight or not is irrelevant--that's the narrative these sites are pushing.)

Next Door Studios (men.com et al) still does old school scripted scenarios, but their scenarios are all about straight guys too-- whether it's sucking off the landlord to get a break on the rent, a frat initiation stunt or two married guys having a "little secret" between them. NDS does a lot of seduction scenes too, where the "straight" guy is initially unwilling but the gay guy wins him over.

CockyBoys is the only studio that seems to actually admit the guys are gay, and it oddly enough has a huge female following, but much less love from gay men.

Theories? The usual one is that most of us develop our first crushes on straight guys and never get over it. The other is that gay porn appeals to closeted men.

What do you all think?

by Anonymousreply 107April 16, 2021 12:42 PM

Gay men want guys that are most of all masculine and manly. There is still a widespread perception that openly gay men are less masculine and manly, or at least, not the hot Alpha males people want. So porn depicts the fantasy of straight men possibly being available to fulfill the Alpha male fantasies of gay men

by Anonymousreply 1June 23, 2017 2:29 PM

Porn is about fantasy. "Straight" guys who really want to have sex with other guys (or who can be enticed into it) is a big fantasy.

by Anonymousreply 2June 23, 2017 2:31 PM

I agree R2, but why do you think that is?

It sort of plays directly into the right wing homophobe trope that gays really just want to convert straights and shouldn't be allowed in locker rooms, schools, etc.

by Anonymousreply 3June 23, 2017 2:32 PM

it's the fantasy of gay men to get what they cannot have: Straight people's approval to the point where straight men have sex with the inferior gay men class. In a perverse way it's part demeaning straight men (as fuck toys) and being accepted by straight men.

by Anonymousreply 4June 23, 2017 2:34 PM

NOT "SURE" --BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE MORE THAT FEATURES HOT BLATINO GARBAGE MEN!! AND HOT HOMELESS. BLESS,BILL

by Anonymousreply 5June 23, 2017 2:34 PM

This is asked all the time, but that's alright.

A large portion of gay men hate themselves. They view themselves and other gay men as sickly, weak, subservient, less than human, prostitute-ish, inferior-everything negative, unattractive and unappealing.

They view straight men as masculine, attractive, violent, virile, powerful-everything good.

That's why some gay men are so interested in white supremacy or Islam, it's not the ideology so much that they are attracted to, it's the men they attracted to. The masculinity they exude. Christianity is sissy-ish. The Virgin Mary? Mary, please.

It's an attraction. A lot of gay men find gay bashers or gay murdered attractive. It's all linked: Straight men are violent. This homophobic "gay for pay" porn reviles gay men, it's all disconnected and passionless. It's violent and homophobic (ironically). A lot of gay men have psychological problems. Hopefully that goes away with time, but I don't know.

by Anonymousreply 6June 23, 2017 2:35 PM

Come, come, because some straight guys are very cute. The more the merrier.

by Anonymousreply 7June 23, 2017 2:41 PM

The many CF and SC scenes I've seen have good-looking guys enthusiastically having hot sex.

I don't care how it's marketed, just that it's good-looking men. Not that they are "seduced" or paid to do it.

The CF and SC scenes are much more GAY than Nineties "gay" for with Lex Baldwin and Jeff Stryker who refused to kiss another man, barely touching them.

The guys in CF and SC are always tongue-kissing and acting very into it.

People can create whatever scenario in their mind that turns them on, of course. But it could also just be what you see on the screen is what is appealing: hot men kissing and fucking. Not hot "straight" men. Hot MEN kissing and fucking.

by Anonymousreply 8June 23, 2017 2:46 PM

A lot of gay-identified men take on attributes associated with women, or to put it more crudely, act like "fa*s." While acting like sassy drag queens and "gurls" may be funny to some, it is not attracted to the vast majority of people attracted to men, including bi and gay men. People fantasize about the construction worker, the football player, the basketball player, the Italian Stallion, the black Alpha Male, the dumb jock, and the mechanic, but very few fantasize about the male florist, male beautician. Unfortunately, gay male culture is not very masculine and reinforces stereotypes that gay men are not manly. Consequently, bi and gay men often seek men who do not identify as gay and are detached from gay culture. Just look at all the personal ads and apps where men are seeking "nongay men" or "straight4straight" or "bros4bros." Masculinity is the prized goal, not necessarily heterosexuality.

by Anonymousreply 9June 23, 2017 2:49 PM

What about the old Fratmen? I think they were the best. Some of those gorgeous guys must have have had a straight streak in them. One of those gorgeous wrestlers, Nash, has married a woman and has a baby. Not that that means anything.

by Anonymousreply 10June 23, 2017 2:51 PM

Reality of sex with straight men: premature ejaculators, no concern for their partner's experience, non-reciprocating with bad breath, poor hygiene and skid marks in their underwear. They also never train their legs.

by Anonymousreply 11June 23, 2017 2:52 PM

That's complete bullshit R8 and you know it. The underlying premise of SC and CF is that you're watching straight guys trying gay sex for the first time and learning to enjoy it. They in no way try and hide that either.

I agree with you 100% R9. The whole femme gay culture, which dominates DL, is baffling to me and doesn't click with the "straight men are hot" aesthetic of gay porn. It seems many of them go out of their way to feminize themselves and then wonder why they can't find partners and are rejected by other men.

by Anonymousreply 12June 23, 2017 2:55 PM

Even masculine gay men are hated here R12.

by Anonymousreply 13June 23, 2017 2:59 PM

How can it be Tom's first time after the 23rd scene? Or Cade or Harper or Stu or BRANDON?

I'm not "hiding" anything. I'm telling you why the scenes are hot: it's two HOT MEN together. The second that first tongue goes into the other guy's mouth, there is no, "Whoa, man! I'm new to this!" It's just two HOT MEN having sex.

by Anonymousreply 14June 23, 2017 2:59 PM

The idea is that they are straight men, R14. Not HOT MEN FUCKING. If that was their marketing tactic, their site would struggle or fail.

by Anonymousreply 15June 23, 2017 3:03 PM

[quote]Why is so much gay porn about straight guys having gay sex?

It's a role play fantasy. "duuude, you spilled your beer on my shorts! you got me all wet, bro! I better take those shorts off!"

by Anonymousreply 16June 23, 2017 3:08 PM

Well the femme gay men seem to hate the masc ones and claim that being "masc" is just an act. R13

I'm not unsympathetic to the femme guys--I can't imagine how tough growing up must have been for guys like that--there's a thread on here today about some guy who is traumatized by going to his HS reunion because some bully who used to call him "fag" and beat him up will be there.

It's just that there's a huge disconnect between femme culture, which, like it or not, has become the dominant gay culture, and what most gay men seem to consider sexually attractive. It would be as if straight women were all chubby and hairy and wore baggy robes, and then wondered why they weren't attracting any guys.

by Anonymousreply 17June 23, 2017 3:08 PM

Yes R16, that's fairly obvious.

The question is why is that particular role play fantasy so hot?

by Anonymousreply 18June 23, 2017 3:09 PM

[quote]I agree [R2], but why do you think that is?

Because as a gayling, you are attracted to MEN, not gay men. You are attracted to the powerful masculine image of a man, and want this strong and decisive man to have sex with you. As you get older and hook up with other men who want the same thing, your desires and priorities shift.

by Anonymousreply 19June 23, 2017 3:10 PM

R15, I get that you can't get past marketing to watch a video.

But it is possible to watch a scene for the hot men and sex, not for whatever the marketing is about.

In 15 years, those scenes will be on a free site somewhere with no marketing and what will those future viewers see? HOT MEN having SEX.

by Anonymousreply 20June 23, 2017 3:10 PM

Because lots of gay men have the fantasy that all men are gay or they can "flip" a straight guy.

by Anonymousreply 21June 23, 2017 3:12 PM

Fem dudes love masc guys. The personal ads attest to this. There is reason why masc4masc and fem4masc are things, but fem4fem is not

by Anonymousreply 22June 23, 2017 3:12 PM

No, r17. Stop blaming "femme" gay men. The majority here dislike masculine gay men too. It's not the "masculine" they dislike, it's the "gay" they dislike.

by Anonymousreply 23June 23, 2017 3:12 PM

R20, how did you even find or become interested in Sean Cody or Corbin fisher?

by Anonymousreply 24June 23, 2017 3:13 PM

DL is an aberration from the real world because the old fem dudes here are bitter they never got the the hot masc they desired. They resent that and lash out at all the adoration masculine buff guys receive. DL has a lot of bitter elders who despise that which is popular. For this reason, No one views DL as indicative of the norm.

by Anonymousreply 25June 23, 2017 3:14 PM

True enough R25, but wouldn't you say that DL reflects the "gay community" too-- people who are "professional homosexuals" and live in WeHo and Hells Kitchen and the like?

That tends to be what people see/think of when they think of gay men-- not the regular guys who just happen to be into other guys.

by Anonymousreply 26June 23, 2017 3:18 PM

"Just happen to be into other guys"? No.

They just happen to be into straight men ONLY.

by Anonymousreply 27June 23, 2017 3:20 PM

R24 GOOD Question!

I looked at one of the MANY Brandon threads on DL and thought he was gorgeous. Simple as that.

Not his life or his alleged straightness or anything like that enticed me or had me thinking about "Straight Men Being Seduced!". Just a photo of a HOT MAN.

I saw his photo, thought he was hot, went to SC and there he was. And his scenes are definitely Boyfriend Porn. And then there are dozens of scenes starring other HOT MEN like Daniel, Pavel, Stu, and even JAREC.

Same thing with Cade on CF. Saw a thread on DL, liked his photo, went to CF, and there are several hot scenes with Cade fully into it with other hot men, no forced seductions or anything.

Never paid attention to marketing. Just saw the photos of those two guys which led me to others.

by Anonymousreply 28June 23, 2017 3:22 PM

But, R28 are you into any openly gay male porn stars?

by Anonymousreply 29June 23, 2017 3:23 PM

Part of the straight guy fantasy is about being accepted by the straight guy who symbolizes all the straight men( father, brother, classmate, etc.) who rejected the gay man. A great many gay men never get over the rejection by straight males. So the idea of conquering a straight guy hits a deep desire to prove that the rejection was a sign of a deep desire of the straight men. A better fantasy would be two men discovering their own desires and going forward. But many of these sites are run by old, fat gay men who probably never got the respect, men, or sex they desired. And it sells. As gay men see themselves more in the daily world - in various manly forms- that fantasy will hopefully take a back seat. But porn is so boring and lacking in creative thought that it can't get off the toilet of self-hate and rejection.

by Anonymousreply 30June 23, 2017 3:26 PM

Thank you R30-- that's the kind of thoughtful response I was hoping for. What you say makes a lot of sense

by Anonymousreply 31June 23, 2017 3:30 PM

R26, yes. DL is a slice of a large and growing gay/bi/fluid male community. We know at least 1/5 of men who watch male porn identify as "straight," and that is likely a major underestimate because of stigma. Also, we know many gay and bi men are not DL "professional gay" types, so while DL is part of the gay male scene, it's far from definitive.

by Anonymousreply 32June 23, 2017 3:31 PM

It's true that gay male culture and community feminized its men, which while arguably politically liberating, tends to make them less attractive to many

by Anonymousreply 33June 23, 2017 3:32 PM

R29 WHO is an "openly gay porn star"?

All I care is that they are good-looking and are into the sex with other men.

Um... Morgan Black, Landon Conrad... Cliff Parker... Hank Hightower, Kyle King, Dale Cooper...

by Anonymousreply 34June 23, 2017 3:35 PM

Where is this planet where all straight men are hot, beautiful, muscular, masculine Titans?

Some of you wretched kaweens really do need to get out into the real world. If straight guys are so wonderful, why are almost half of them getting divorced? And if you ask the wives of the other half, these guys are insecure momma's boys who want everything done for them.

And if they're so great in bed, why are always women bitching about how awful they are in the sack? R11 nailed it.

by Anonymousreply 35June 23, 2017 3:36 PM

Try an experiment: GO on Craigslist, Adam4Adam, or Jack'd and post an ad. Keep the pics and content the same, but on one ad, identify yourself as "gay;" in another ad, take out the word gay but don't identify your sexual orientation; and on the third ad say you are "straight." Guess which ad will get the fewest responses.

by Anonymousreply 36June 23, 2017 3:39 PM

I know a guy (he isn't particularly fem) who gets an insane number of hits when he adds two letters to his Craigslist ads: CD. The guys are often very hot, too.

by Anonymousreply 37June 23, 2017 3:44 PM

R34, thanks. And, who's an openly gay male porn star? Men who are openly gay, of course. đŸ™ƒ Glad you're into them. Thought maybe you were just into "straight" men...ahem...MEN.

by Anonymousreply 38June 23, 2017 3:45 PM

Exactly R36.

by Anonymousreply 39June 23, 2017 3:45 PM

Really OP? Are you so confused that gay men find the idea of getting some hot straight guy to "go gay" an enticing fantasy?

Please bitch, it is pretty obvious.

by Anonymousreply 40June 23, 2017 3:46 PM

R38, I was throwing shade on trash like Rogan Richards and others who use the word "Gay" but then rave about the pussy they just got and how they need some more.

"But I'm GAY GAY GAY!"

by Anonymousreply 41June 23, 2017 3:48 PM

It's pathetic R40.

by Anonymousreply 42June 23, 2017 3:48 PM

There have been studies that verify that identifying as gay greatly decreases responses on social apps and dating forums.

by Anonymousreply 43June 23, 2017 3:55 PM

100% R36

When I used to travel a lot for work, I'd create CL profiles about how I was a straight guy with a girlfriend he was going to marry but wanted to try gay sex before I settled down.

My inbox would blow up with responses, and I'd have my pick of very hot guys, many of whom claimed to also be straight and on the DL. (I figured if I was bullshitting that I was straight, they often were too.)

Regardless, it sure got me a lot of hot dick from guys who, whatever their actual orientation, were not the least bit femme.

by Anonymousreply 44June 23, 2017 4:00 PM

Straight sells. Effeminacy is bad for business.

by Anonymousreply 45June 23, 2017 4:03 PM

OP, you mention Cockyboys but there's also Helix Studio, Austin Wilde's Guys With Sweatpants, Tim Tales, the Raging Stallion Studio, Bareback Studio Treasure Island Media, Bareback Studio Raw Fuck Club, German porn studio Cazzo, etc. better known to feature gay men. If torrent sites are any indication studios like Cockyboys, Helix Studio, Tim Tales, Guys With Sweatpants are as popular (if not more) as the Sean Cody or Corbin Fisher sites.

by Anonymousreply 46June 23, 2017 4:04 PM

Some gay men are effeminate, and because they are the most openly gay, they define and propel gay culture. Closeted and mainstream masc gay men recoil at male effeminacy, but they are too timid about gay identity to define it. It's a conundrum

by Anonymousreply 47June 23, 2017 4:05 PM

"Gay" will be gone soon, so the world can rejoice. It'll be SLBT. It's starting with Chechnya and the Mengele experimentations parents and doctors are conducting on feminine gay children to alter their gender and turn them into "girls"! It's a brave new world!

by Anonymousreply 48June 23, 2017 4:05 PM

I love the fluid and "open" straight bros movement

I guess Helix Studios is dead and doesn't know it.

It's the end of gay men, that's for sure!

by Anonymousreply 51June 23, 2017 4:10 PM

Most of those studios are second rate R46 and get guys who weren't good looking enough for the SCs and CFs.

GWSP may have some openly gay performers but most are still of the "straight guy having gay sex" variety

And Helix is all about twinks and borders on pedophilia.

by Anonymousreply 52June 23, 2017 4:10 PM

[quote]Most of those studios are second rate

Says who, you? What makes you an authority in that matter?

by Anonymousreply 53June 23, 2017 4:12 PM

Because he's a masc4masc fluid straight bro, of course.

by Anonymousreply 54June 23, 2017 4:13 PM

It's wanting what you can't have and believing you can "turn" somebody.

Straight men do it to lesbians, straight women do it to gay men, and gay men do it to straight men. Lesbians seem to be the only group that don't participate in this.

by Anonymousreply 55June 23, 2017 4:14 PM

R50. That's for the old creepy dudes. It's declining in popularity. See thread on most popular male porn categories

by Anonymousreply 56June 23, 2017 4:15 PM

[quote] Says who, you? What makes you an authority in that matter?

They pay a lot less then the SeanCody/CorbinFisher/NDS league.

Pretty good definition of "second rate"

by Anonymousreply 57June 23, 2017 4:17 PM

Because they don't use "straight", R53. Why are you debating that homophobe on a gay gossip site? Lol! Spare yourself the grief.

by Anonymousreply 58June 23, 2017 4:17 PM

Those sites don't a lot either R57.

by Anonymousreply 59June 23, 2017 4:17 PM

r57, so your are, what, the accountant of the gay porn industry?

by Anonymousreply 60June 23, 2017 4:18 PM

He thinks they pay thousands to these guys. If that was the case, the IRS needs to get involved.

by Anonymousreply 61June 23, 2017 4:19 PM

Yes, I am the Chief Accountant of the Gay Porn Industry.

I have a staff of four and we log all the pay stubs and collect taxes.

For studios like Corbin Fisher which supply benefits, we manage that too.

All these studios pay surprisingly little money, even less so nowadays that streaming sites like MyVidster are killing their business. But CF and SC still pay double what a TimTales pays

by Anonymousreply 62June 23, 2017 4:21 PM

Does anyone under the age of 50 even pay for porn these days?

by Anonymousreply 63June 23, 2017 4:21 PM

Do you want to see a flaming queen in your porn?

"Straight" (usually) guarantees that won't be there, even if it is BS (when a gay guy is pretending to be straight and the lisping is still in full force.)

And usually straight guys are hotter. The straight guys in straight porn are more attractive. It's easier to watch them (and ignore the vag) than to find a genuinely HOT and masc gay guy.

by Anonymousreply 64June 23, 2017 4:22 PM

[quote]If that was the case, the IRS needs to get involved.

Don't joke with that. Look what happened with Rentboy Dot Com. In Trump's America I doubt it takes much to go after Sean Cody's Brandon.

by Anonymousreply 65June 23, 2017 4:22 PM

In Trump's America I doubt it takes much FOR THEM to go after Sean Cody's Brandon.

by Anonymousreply 66June 23, 2017 4:22 PM

R64 is the asshole you're curious about OP.

by Anonymousreply 67June 23, 2017 4:23 PM

R55, Lesbians certainly DO have the fantasy of "turning" the supposedly "straight" women.

Of course, all women are really Lesbians anyway, so it's not that hard to do apparently.

by Anonymousreply 68June 23, 2017 4:23 PM

Because straight men are unobtainium for gay men!

by Anonymousreply 69June 23, 2017 4:26 PM

And nobody will debate with R64 or R48 because they agree with them.

by Anonymousreply 70June 23, 2017 4:26 PM

That was quite funny OP / r64.

I imagine you have Mike Branson's law firm on speed dial.

by Anonymousreply 71June 23, 2017 4:26 PM

r71 here. My apologies. I was referring to OP / r62 (NOT r64).

by Anonymousreply 72June 23, 2017 4:28 PM

We're not allowed to discuss our relationship with Mr. Branson's law firm. That is, if we even have a relationship, which I'm not in any way confirming

by Anonymousreply 73June 23, 2017 4:31 PM

The trend is for these dudes to no longer claim they are straight. Now, they either identify as bi or just claim they have "no labels" or are "open/fluid." The Gay for pay myth has been debunked

by Anonymousreply 74June 23, 2017 4:36 PM

R70 - what would be the point in debating anything. It's not like someone can tell me what to jerk off to & dictate my opinion is on the matter. I must not be alone given the market for this porn and what people posted about claiming to be straight on craigslist. Are straight guys objectively better looking in terms of facial features? I don't know... but so often I'll see a HOT straight masc guy with some cow frau and just think - damn if he was gay he'd own the fucking city. It's almost unheard of that it goes the other way.

by Anonymousreply 75June 23, 2017 4:44 PM

It's not really about looks unless you are talking about masc appearance. It's about masculine persona and vibes

by Anonymousreply 76June 23, 2017 5:00 PM

A knight shining armor will always have more appeal that that helpless bitch up in the tower.

by Anonymousreply 77June 24, 2017 12:01 AM

Straight men are the knights?

by Anonymousreply 78June 24, 2017 12:03 AM

hmmm

by Anonymousreply 79June 24, 2017 12:03 AM

Porn is a highly skewed representation of sexual preferences. While it's not the only reason this trope is perpetuated, laziness comes to mind - initiating the straight guy is an easy fantasy for studios to repeat. Studios want things in easily-made, easily-marketed categories, which is why change is slow and complexity doesn't have a place in gay porn. Look at another popular category: the incest or pseudo-incest gay porn with all the stepbrothers, stepfathers, uncles, and mom's boyfriends. It sold, and studios started cranking out more and more of it with minor variations. Building from a taboo is an easy basis for porn. Does it mean that gay men don't want to fuck people who aren't related to them?

I would say that a certain masc stereotype is prevalent across categories of gay porn, but less so than in lesbian or straight porn. Outside of fetish porn, you don't see butch lesbians, or women who aren't rail-thin with huge tits and talon-like fingernails. Porn across the board has weird ways of highly exaggerating gender, but at least you do see some queeniness in mainstream gay porn.

by Anonymousreply 80June 24, 2017 12:54 AM

People widely desire the football player, Marine, personal trainer, firefighter, lumbersexuals, flexing aesthetics men, bad boys, and construction worker. Very few fantasize about male ballet dancers, male nurses, and hair stylists.

by Anonymousreply 81June 24, 2017 1:05 AM

I follow an Instagram account that has sexual pictures of men run by a gay guy who is so vociferously anti-masc4masc. Yet the majority of his pictures are scenes from Sean Cody and CF. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

by Anonymousreply 82June 24, 2017 1:13 AM

indeed bruh

by Anonymousreply 83June 24, 2017 1:17 AM

When I see these guys kissing like there's no tomorrow, it is difficult to believe that they're straight. Kissing is the most intimate thing two people can do.

by Anonymousreply 84June 24, 2017 1:20 AM

Why even discuss that like it's even possible they are straight? It's not reasonably arguable. Gay porn fans are the most gullible people on the planet

by Anonymousreply 85June 24, 2017 1:23 AM

It's not gullible, it's that they revile gays. It's easy to figure out.

by Anonymousreply 86June 24, 2017 1:24 AM

I'm 100% correct at R6. It's all linked. I was thinking, "why do so many gy men like this gay for pay shit? Why do they like Islam so much? Then I read article about gay men's love of "masculine violence" and it all made sense.

by Anonymousreply 87June 24, 2017 1:26 AM

[quote]When I see these guys kissing like there's no tomorrow, it is difficult to believe that they're straight.

Agreed. These G4P models who date women are likely bisexual. This is why I find it utterly ludicrous when bisexuals blame gay people for biphobia and bi-erasure. The only people that are holding back bisexuals and erasing their existence are the bisexuals themselves who claim to be straight because they only date women.

by Anonymousreply 88June 24, 2017 1:32 AM

Duh, we know they are actually bi

by Anonymousreply 89June 24, 2017 1:33 AM

DL is known for so much bi denial.

by Anonymousreply 90June 24, 2017 2:00 AM

It's a reflection of how this place skews old and out of touch

by Anonymousreply 91June 24, 2017 2:10 AM

No one ever talks about the Kinsey Twos.

by Anonymousreply 92June 24, 2017 2:28 AM

Kinsey is archaic, not relevant today

by Anonymousreply 93June 24, 2017 2:35 AM

Things are changing though. The problem was that a lot of gay men grew up with that idea, or ideal, of what a (real) man is supposed to be and it's not some fag going down on another guy. Out of this self loathing the worship of the ideal man was born to follow and beg for his / their approval. But nowdays gay men have access and the option to love and accept themselves the way they are and have their own identity without having to see themselves as inferior. Gay porn, now more than ever, celebrates the gay sexual identity in a "from confidents gays for confident gays" sort of way.

What other countries without ssm will be influenced by this?

[quote]Pron of the 80s was much more gay affirming than it is now.

Was it? The biggest star was gay4pay Jeff Stryker and the audience went supposedly batshit crazy when he *gasp* took another guy's dick in his mouth after, what, dozens of releases? And straight guys were bottoms, because they couldn't keep hard long enough to top.

I am curious to find out what made gay porn so much more gay affirming.

I find it pretty difficult to believe that 80s gay porn was more gay affirming than all the stuff you get on the internet these days. Traditional Gay Porn Studio porn (Falcon Studio, Raging Stallion, Treasure Island Media, Michael Lucas Entertainment, BelAmi, etc.) Internet porn studios (Sean Cody, Corbin Fisher, Chaosmen, MEN, Guys With Sweatpants, Cockyboys, etc.), Amateur porn on cam sites and tumblr, Eastern Europe gay porn, not to mention all the fetish porn, etc.

In the 80s there was a rather limited acces to gay porn. Fewer releases (compared to present day), limited access to gay porn releases compared to present day (porn movie theatres, rental stores, sex shops, mail order catalogues), fewer stars and models compared to present day.

Exactly. The mythological gay for pay porn state ruled the 80s. Not only did he identify as straight straight, but he Also did not kiss, suck, or rim his bottoms. He often was aloof and detached

Even men like that who willingly fuck other men always have "real" relationships with women. That's what makes it homophobic: the fear of anything more intimate with another than just a furtive sexual encounter. That's why so many American gay movies are so unsatisfying: they're just bad porn crossed with bad soap opera.

[quote]Exactly. The mythological gay for pay porn state ruled the 80s.

They were the ones who weren't dying of AIDS. That's also fueled the fantasy of gay man being able to attract a man who has never been with another man and thus is less likely to be infected.

It’s about perceived masculinity
