I just realized the census data puts California 3rd (behind New Jersey) as the state with more Italian Americans. That is clearly untrue. The census is not counting that there are a lot of Italian-Hispanics in California, even if those Italian Americans identify more with Latino culture. They are still Italian Americans. California is definitely closer to New York and definitely above NJ.
