Michiel Huisman - a luminous guy on screen for once.

Nicolaj Waldau-Costeau - Damn. He's so fucking fine. I watched Gods of Egypt for the eye candy that Nicolaj provided.

by Anonymousreply 51June 5, 2017 12:00 AM

Clive Owen. So sexy and brooding, and a good actor, too.

by Anonymousreply 52June 5, 2017 12:06 AM

Angela Bassett holds the screen even when the script fails. Even in small roles, she makes me wonder what her character is thinking and how she is gauging the situation.

Bette Davis has such an overwhelming presence that she commands my full attention. Even into her 80s, her health ruined and her face partially paralyzed, she remained a force on the screen.

James Cagney could blend menace with sympathy like no other, and he did a number of middling films.

Doris Day has a brightness that carries her through miscasting and poor stories.

[Cagney and Doris Day were a surprisingly good pairing in Love Me or Leave Me.]

Elizabeth Taylor made a quite a few flops, but I find her endlessly watchable, not just for her beauty, which famously faded, but for her magnetism.

María Félix, who has a thread running now, dominated the screen and keeps me focused on her no matter what else is happening.

I would be up for watching these actors and many other favorites. I love the combination of finding familiarity while looking for something new.

by Anonymousreply 53June 5, 2017 12:10 AM

Jason Statham, in pretty much anything.

Jeremy Renner. I even sat through Hansel and Gretel.

Michael Fasbbender, in anything except that Jobs movie.

I can't stand Blanchett, I was appalled by her famowhoring of PSH's death for her Oscar PR tour, of which she didn't deserve anyway. I also think she is overrated and not nearly as talented as she thinks she is.

Toni Collette is a far better actress!

Definitely Frances McDormand. Armie Hammer and Jon Hamm.

by Anonymousreply 106November 26, 2017 10:22 PM

Tom Riley and Jonathan Bailey. I watched The Collection for the former and Hooten and the Lady for the latter. Both were dreadful TV series that I can't imagine anyone green-lighting. Yet I watched every episode. Happily, both actors have been in much better shows elsewhere.

Totally agree with Frances McDormand. She should be in everything.

by Anonymousreply 107November 26, 2017 10:49 PM

Patrick Stewart Cate Blanchette La Belle Michelle (P) Clancy Brown James Marsden Robin Williams Winona Rider Julie Andrews Angela Lounsbury Doris Day

Interesting question.

by Anonymousreply 108November 26, 2017 11:20 PM

Alan Rickman and Peter O'Toole.

Two actors who were totally mesmerizing in whatever film they were in. I wish Rickman had played Schindler in Schindler's List - LN was fine but Alan would have been amazing in that role.

by Anonymousreply 109November 26, 2017 11:34 PM

Brendad Ickson

by Anonymousreply 110November 27, 2017 12:44 AM

R34.

The producer of her first movie told her—

'The camera doesn't like you. It makes you look like a snuggle-toothed pigmy. Go away and come back in 40 years.'

by Anonymousreply 111November 27, 2017 12:51 AM

Simone Simon--Best known for the original 'Cat People,' she's not an outstanding actor or a ravishing beauty, but I've seen most of her English-language films, and a few of her French ones.

Another Simone Simon film was 'The Curse of the Cat People,' which included child actor Ann Carter. She only had an 11-year career and most of her roles were small, but she seemed so self-assured. Robert Wise, whose first directorial credit was for 'Curse,' praised her for her professionalism. She only has 18 credits on IMDb and I've seen most of them.
