David Ogden Stiers

Gay or not a gay

by Anonymousreply 18May 5, 2018 6:49 PM

Gay. He came out a few years ago.

by Anonymousreply 1May 30, 2017 4:24 PM

And sadly he was closeted for a long time because it was made clear to him that his voice over work would suffer if it was known that a gay man was doing the voice.

Back in the '70s, when Stiers was mostly doing theater in NY, it was hardly a secret. He wasn't exactly "out", but neither was he an unfamiliar face at places known to appeal to closeted men. Even though I knew who he was, I never let on the few times he came into my room at the Beacon. He wasn't handsome, but he was hotter than you'd think, and he definitely had plenty of experience.

I love all his work for Disney. Always suspected he was gay, though... I mean the way he voiced Ratcliffe and Wiggins? Come on.

He was out before he died. Though it was known in circles years beforehand that he was "David Ogden Queers."

by Anonymousreply 5May 30, 2017 6:32 PM

He's alive, I tell you, R5,! Be very afraid!

by Anonymousreply 6May 30, 2017 6:34 PM

He's not dead.

by Anonymousreply 7May 30, 2017 6:36 PM

He's still alive.

Larry Linville, whose character he was brought in to replace, died in 2000. Linville was probably straight considering his five wives...or maybe that was the problem.

Anybody see him in The Magic Show?

Oddly enough, I did, R9. What a pile of crap!

by Anonymousreply 10May 30, 2017 10:35 PM

One of the longest-running shows that's never been revived (and probably never performed by regional theaters.)

by Anonymousreply 11May 31, 2017 5:26 AM

Gay (and dead)

by Anonymousreply 12March 4, 2018 3:34 AM

Gay and now totally dead

by Anonymousreply 13March 4, 2018 4:04 AM

When he came out in 2009, Stiers said he wanted to find a partner, settle down, and go public with their relationship. I haven't read anything about a partner in his passing, so sadly it seems that didn't happen for him. đŸ˜”

by Anonymousreply 14March 4, 2018 8:11 AM

WTF OP. He publicly came out in 2009. Get with the times, or turn in your gay card.

by Anonymousreply 15March 4, 2018 8:35 AM

Then why isn't he gay on Wikipedia? Try and add it, you'll be insta-banned for doing so.

by Anonymousreply 16May 5, 2018 6:09 PM

r16 Add a source and complain to the management if you're banned again.

by Anonymousreply 17May 5, 2018 6:42 PM

It’s in old threads somewhere, you Alzheimer whores. He was out. He had a partner til he passed away.
