Greg Berlanti breaks the record for the most TV shows on the air at the same time

Arrow (CW) , Black Lightning (CW) , The Flash (CW) , Legends of Tomorrow (CW) , Riverdale (CW) , Supergirl (CW) , Deception (ABC), Blindspot (NBC), You (Lifetime) and Titan (DC Digital service).

Does any of you watch them ?

by Anonymousreply 97July 27, 2018 2:16 AM

No. I wish he'd create another Brothers & Sisters instead.

by Anonymousreply 1May 14, 2017 12:19 PM

One: Riverdale.

by Anonymousreply 2May 14, 2017 12:20 PM
Does any of you watch them ?

Lol, nope. But good for him!

by Anonymousreply 3May 14, 2017 12:24 PM

Good for the guy. I don't watch any of those shows.

by Anonymousreply 4May 14, 2017 12:24 PM

I only watch The Flash.

by Anonymousreply 5May 14, 2017 12:25 PM

Haven't seen an episode of any of them.

by Anonymousreply 6May 14, 2017 12:27 PM

I watched 2 seasons of Arrow. Eye candy.

by Anonymousreply 7May 14, 2017 12:29 PM

Jesus Christ, that is just a river of complete and utter shit. Does anyone actually WATCH these shows? I thought gay men had cultural taste. Apparently not.

by Anonymousreply 8May 14, 2017 12:33 PM

I don't and something tells me they're all terrible. But more power to him.

by Anonymousreply 9May 14, 2017 12:47 PM

I used to watch his superhero shows but not anymore.

Happy for his success though, great to see gay men in power.

by Anonymousreply 10May 14, 2017 12:52 PM

Does?

Anyway, Arrow and Flash. I wanted to watch Legends, but gave up after 3 episodes.

by Anonymousreply 11May 14, 2017 12:56 PM

I watch all his CW shows. They vary in quality, with Legends being the worst by far. But for the most part they're not bad guilty pleasures.

by Anonymousreply 12May 14, 2017 1:12 PM
Greg Berlanti breaks the record for the most TV shows on the air at the same time

Some of these shows are not on air yet and just in the pre-production phase like Deception and Black Lightning. IMDB claims Titans is a movie project and not a TV show btw. And other than OP's link there's no info about about Liftime's You.

I wonder which actors from his shows has he hooked up with.

by Anonymousreply 14May 14, 2017 1:58 PM

R14 - Isn't that a prerequisite for being cast?

by Anonymousreply 15May 14, 2017 2:08 PM

R15 Aside from a few jokes about Stephen and Colton.....

by Anonymousreply 16May 14, 2017 2:11 PM

R13 he's really good looking in that picture

by Anonymousreply 17May 14, 2017 2:25 PM

Never heard of him. Who?

by Anonymousreply 18May 14, 2017 2:47 PM

Who says you can't have it all?

by Anonymousreply 19May 14, 2017 2:57 PM

r18 must be new here.

by Anonymousreply 20May 14, 2017 2:58 PM

Or R18 does know him and isn't a fan.

by Anonymousreply 21May 14, 2017 3:00 PM

Blindspot was interesting the first season, but after that... I watch Supergirl occasionally. I liked Everwood. That was a good show.

by Anonymousreply 22May 14, 2017 3:05 PM

Supergirl fans don't seem to be a fan of season 2.

by Anonymousreply 23May 14, 2017 3:07 PM

At least OURS are all on major networks.

by Anonymousreply 24May 14, 2017 4:27 PM

Ooh, was he involved in Everwood? That was a good show. Can we also thank him for Chris Pratt?

by Anonymousreply 25May 14, 2017 6:40 PM

Miss Berlanti likes to pay for rough, dominant tops.

by Anonymousreply 26May 14, 2017 6:45 PM

No, but then I'm an adult.

by Anonymousreply 27May 14, 2017 7:13 PM
Happy for his success though, great to see gay men in power.

Yet he hardly has any gay (male) characters on any of his shows! He has a ton of lesbians though, of course. Can't let down the straight fanboys and their jack off fantasies!

by Anonymousreply 28May 14, 2017 7:36 PM

R28 I don't think real lesbians appeal to straight guys

by Anonymousreply 29May 14, 2017 7:40 PM

Here's an article from 2013 where Berlanti talks about all the gay (male) characters in the shows he's either written or produced.

Dawson's Creek, Brothers and Sisters (Scotty and Kevin), Political Animals (with Sebastian Stan as the gay son), Everwood and its coming out episodes.....etc.....

I agree with the first part but lesbian characters also tend to have fans who are also...........lesbians.

Is this the guy from the other thread that likes to get fisted by young rough trade?

by Anonymousreply 34August 15, 2017 12:52 PM
From writers and executive producers Berlanti and Sera Gamble (The Magicians), You is based on Caroline Kepnes' book and is described as a psychological thriller. The 10-episode drama is a 21st century love story that asks what you would do for love. When Joe (Penn Badgley), a brilliant bookstore manager, crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes an obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle — and person — in his way. Mitchell will play Peach Salinger. With vast resources and family money, Peach is the controlling queen bee of Beck’s (Elizabeth Lail) inner circle of privileged friends. She has her sights set on Joe, in a way that feels oddly adversarial with Beck.

Good luck.

by Anonymousreply 35August 15, 2017 1:02 PM

I watch Riverdale. But I may get tired of it.

Berlanti did not create Brothers & Sisters. That was Jon Robin Baitz.

by Anonymousreply 36August 15, 2017 1:09 PM

Nope, not a one.

by Anonymousreply 37August 15, 2017 1:13 PM

I watch none of them.

(No offense intended.)

by Anonymousreply 38August 15, 2017 1:13 PM

I miss Brothers & Sisters, especially Kevin.

Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 40August 15, 2017 9:06 PM

Aren't superhero shows for teenage boys, R40?

by Anonymousreply 41August 15, 2017 9:27 PM

Greg's smile is really cute. Smiles like that get the dick.

The Sally Field Programme was my shit.

by Anonymousreply 42August 15, 2017 9:47 PM

Only Riverdale. Kind of fed up with superhero shows at the moment. Loved Everwood. The show had Gregory Smith, Chris Pratt, Mike Irwin, and Steven Mcqueen. What was there not to like?

by Anonymousreply 43August 15, 2017 10:27 PM

I like Riverdale. The rest are crap that my partner watches solo.

by Anonymousreply 44August 15, 2017 10:46 PM

Another fan of Everwood here (it also had Treat Williams, R43). I could not possibly care less about Berlanti's superhero shows or Riverdale, but that's just me. (Hey, Robbie Rogers, if you ever break up with Greg, call me!)

by Anonymousreply 45August 16, 2017 12:14 AM

I had no idea he was a writer/producer for Dawson's Creek.

by Anonymousreply 46August 16, 2017 12:01 PM

So he totally grave up on producing adult, Quasi - relevant tv shows? Congrats i guess.

by Anonymousreply 47August 16, 2017 12:21 PM

He's on fire!
Divine intervention has come to CBS in the form of a drama pilot order for Greg Berlanti and “Gotham” scribes Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt.
“God Friended Me” revolves around an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he’s friended by God on Facebook. The proximity to the Holy Spirit makes him an agent of change in the lives of those around him. [Because atheists can't possibly be motivated by non-divine intervention?]
The pilot hails from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV. Lilien and Wynbrandt penned the script and Marcos Siega will direct. Sarah Schechter, head of Berlanti Productions, will executive produce along with Berlanti.

Oh great, yet another perverse atheist conversion trope to make the Christians feel good. I definitely won't be watching.

Are you fucking kidding me? That's pretty much the same story arc from Badgley's character on Gossip Girl!

by Anonymousreply 50January 24, 2018 12:06 PM

I watch The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Riverdale.

I watch The Flash (even though I still insist the Iris/Barry relationship is creepy and incest-adjacent), and watched a couple episodes of Legends, but that's it.

by Anonymousreply 59January 24, 2018 2:23 PM

R59 I don't watch The Flash. How is the relationship creepy?

by Anonymousreply 60January 24, 2018 2:28 PM

r60, I am not r59, but I think he means that Barry and Iris grew up like brother and sister after Iris' dad takes Barry in (Barry's mother gets killed and Barry's father is accused of murdering her and lands in prison for it).

by Anonymousreply 61January 24, 2018 2:33 PM

Of course they have a kid.

by Anonymousreply 62January 24, 2018 2:34 PM

So much shows and nothing to watch.

by Anonymousreply 63January 24, 2018 2:34 PM

R61 Thanks for explaining.

by Anonymousreply 64January 24, 2018 2:39 PM

I does not watch them.

He does all those DC superhero-soap opera shows with all the queer/frau baiting casts right?

by Anonymousreply 65January 24, 2018 2:57 PM

We have more gay representation than ever. Why aren't the actual shows better than they are?

by Anonymousreply 66January 24, 2018 3:23 PM

r66, because they are watered down to appeal to the mainstream / more demographics than just gays.

by Anonymousreply 67January 24, 2018 3:45 PM

I'm interested in "You" because I read the book and the sequel. I just wish it wasn't Penn Badgley in it because he is insufferable to watch.

by Anonymousreply 68January 24, 2018 3:46 PM
Jesus Christ, that is just a river of complete and utter shit. Does anyone actually WATCH these shows? I thought gay men had cultural taste. Apparently not.

Aren't you a fount of charm and positivity!

by Anonymousreply 69January 24, 2018 3:50 PM

No I doesn’t

by Anonymousreply 70January 24, 2018 3:57 PM

LEGENDS is really awful, in spite of having some good actors (Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, Arthur Darvill who was the preacher on BROADCHURCH). I couldn't make it past 4 episodes.

by Anonymousreply 71January 24, 2018 5:32 PM

Too dark and broody. Too much soap opera.

Riverdale has the most laughably melodramatic Confirmation ever put to film.

by Anonymousreply 72January 24, 2018 5:44 PM

R71 I dropped it after three episodes but people say it really found its character in the next season and now it's great fun.

by Anonymousreply 73January 24, 2018 6:17 PM
Too dark and broody. Too much soap opera.

That's what most cw shows are unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 74January 25, 2018 1:59 PM

I watched the first season of Arrow.

by Anonymousreply 75January 25, 2018 4:34 PM

R71: Victor Garber's screen career is really inconsistent. I hated the remake of [italic]Annie[/italic] he was in, but he was good as Sid Luft. [italic]Titanic[/italic] I can take or leave, honestly.

by Anonymousreply 76January 25, 2018 4:37 PM

My opinion of Garber is based primarily on his stage work His film/TV work is uneven, but clearly he's doing shows like ALIAS, etc. for $$$.

by Anonymousreply 77January 25, 2018 4:40 PM
[R66], because they are watered down to appeal to the mainstream / more demographics than just gays.

And that's why it's hard for me to get into it. I want nothing but movies by gays, for gays, about gays that are 100% gay on both sides of the camera with no pandering to heterosexuals whatsoever.

by Anonymousreply 78January 25, 2018 4:51 PM

no.

by Anonymousreply 79January 25, 2018 5:32 PM
I watched the first season of Arrow.

I think i got half way through and just couldn't be bothered. Too many flashbacks.

by Anonymousreply 80January 26, 2018 3:13 PM

R80, yeah, all that island stuff didn't interest me at all. I stuck with it through the first season, then missed a couple episodes in season two and never did get caught up. I keep hearing that season three of Arrow was really bad.

by Anonymousreply 81January 27, 2018 3:27 PM

The CW is for teenagers.

by Anonymousreply 82January 27, 2018 3:29 PM
Only Riverdale. Kind of fed up with superhero shows at the moment. Loved Everwood. The show had Gregory Smith, Chris Pratt, Mike Irwin, and Steven Mcqueen. What was there not to like?

I watched one year of Riverdale, until the actors began to seem mired in their perceived sense of fabulousness. They no longer seemed like characters, just actors going for the social media feelz. And I am no social media feelr.

I loved Mike Irwin and Steven Robitaille. Wish Berlanti would star them in a show as two gay guys. No vampires, though.

by Anonymousreply 83January 27, 2018 3:33 PM

You'd think that the law of large numbers would guarantee that at least one of them were not mediocre. But, you'd be wrong...

by Anonymousreply 84January 27, 2018 3:42 PM

by Anonymousreply 85January 27, 2018 3:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 86January 27, 2018 3:45 PM

I've tried Flash, Arrow, Blindspot, and watched the entire first season of Riverdale. It's all crap.

by Anonymousreply 87January 27, 2018 3:48 PM

I hope Black Lightning does well.

by Anonymousreply 88January 27, 2018 5:13 PM

Victor Garber was responsible for Elle Woods‘ #metoo moment...
