In the (infamous) 1974 Rainbow Room footage at the 0:50 mark, she mentions she's about to go to Europe to film a new movie. Anyone know what happened?
What movie was Joan Crawford supposed to film in Europe in 1974?

Probably none. It's just something an old, out of work star in 1974 would say.

I was thinking maybe "Murder on the Orient Express", Ingrid Bergman's role.

I read that Miss Crawford was considered for the movie, "Butterflies are Free" for the mother role, Mrs. Baker. She would have marvelous. Eileen Heckart played the part. She was superb! She won a supporting actress Oscar for the role.

Crawford was offered Ma Kent in Superman and the role that Olivia de Havilland eventually took in Airport '77, but was too ill by that time to accept either.

I like how she says "They don't write movie for ladies anymore." Of course, she meant "older" ladies, but caught herself in time before it slipped out.

She was still getting offers for little things like documentaries or radio programs, so it's possible she'd had an offer but turned it down after seeing those photos of herself the next day. It was just a couple months later that she had her bad fall, which sealed the deal as far as never working again.
