Was confused when he turned up in LA LA LAND; he's just famous enough that I thought he would have a larger role. Looked great, BTW.

Interesting career in film and TV... it has the feel of what would have once been called "journeyman". You can see him a good film like "That Thing You Do" (he was excellent and adorkable), then is on stage in NYC playing closeted actor in "Little Dog Laughed". Later he plays a cop who goes corrupt on TNT's "Southland" and he in the first season (or was it two seasons) of the incredibly cheesy zombie show "Z Nation". And there he is surprising audiences as Emma Stone's husband in LA LA LAND.

I don't know him, but the career feels interesting and varied. I believe he's been married for years, has several children.

He had a recurring role as the governor of NY on "Law and Order," until Jack McCoy brought him down.

Please don't forget that he played Oscar-nominated Meryl Streep's son in One True Thing!

Funny that, I heard the title song from [italic]That Thing You Do![/italic] on the grocery store PA the other day, reminding me what a great song that was, what a good movie that was, how cute the boys in that band were, and how embarrassing it is that a mid-1960s pastiche was a better-written song than what was actually on the radio concurrently.

I just saw Tom in a holiday movie before Christmas (yes, yes, one of THOSE holiday movies). He is such a handsome man with piercing beautiful eyes. I immediately decided he was prime husband material!

I think he's a great actor, and very good looking. But, I wonder if he's just not super aggressive? Or has a mediocre agent? I see other people and I have no idea why they're as popular as they are. I do remember a long time ago some actor was asked a question like that, and he basically said that you either have to be related to someone, or already have tons of money, or be super aggressive. He just said he liked acting, and would go after parts, but wasn't doing like some actors he knew and busting his ass to get up every morning at 4:00, and weekends, and calling people all the time, etc. He jokingly said he was sort of lazy or something to that effect.

You may be right R22. maybe he just doesn't want to play the game to be a major "star" and is perfectly happy with being a steady working actor. According to IMBD, he has 10 films or TV episodes in the works for 2017-2018.
