Matt Dallas on Howard Stern denying he was gay in 2006 - long lost audio found

By chance, I tracked down the full audio of the Howard Stern show, which aired way back on 8/21/2006, where Matt called in for an excruciating 15 minute attempt to deny claims by Perez Hilton that he was gay. I clipped the relevant audio and uploaded it to Youtube. You can tell very quickly that Matt wasn't very convincing and it seems he was put up to it by his publicist. Of course, now Matt is out and proud, married to a man and they have adopted an adorable kid...Enjoy!

Well, KyleXY was a kids' show, and the truth would have upset so many people. [html removed]

by Anonymousreply 1March 28, 2017 3:11 AM

I remember this interview, I watched "Kyle XY". Had read here about Matt Dallas being gay and that he was in a relationship with Jonathan Bennett.

This interview was such an embarrassment.

by Anonymousreply 2March 28, 2017 3:13 AM

Who cares. He's out now and that's all that matters.

by Anonymousreply 3March 28, 2017 3:37 AM

R1 What does the [HTML removed] tag mean?

by Anonymousreply 4March 28, 2017 3:52 AM

Whoever made that video didn't even know how to spell Dallas.

by Anonymousreply 5March 28, 2017 3:52 AM

It was a typo - shoot me...

by Anonymousreply 6March 28, 2017 3:55 AM

He's really trying to butch up his voice there, too.

by Anonymousreply 7March 28, 2017 3:58 AM

R7 The funny thing was you can tell Howard and Robin aren't buying it - I love Robin's comment about "Kyle KY" and Howard even lowers his own voice at one point to mock Matt...Howard gives him a lot of chances to engage in str8 male bro talk about hot chicks and banging girls and Matt just barely fake it. I felt bad for the kid...

by Anonymousreply 8March 28, 2017 4:04 AM

He lived in my building in Los Angeles. Sort of a strange guy but very handsome. Everyone knew that he was gay. At least he never tried to hide it in his private life. This was back when Kyle XY was either still on or right after. I was not familiar with the show at all until becoming familiar with him. He was kooky but nice.

by Anonymousreply 9March 28, 2017 4:06 AM

His appearance on Kathy Griffin's show was a dead giveaway...Other gay cameos - Lance Bass and Jonathan Bennett (who used to date Matt)

R4/OP it was angle bracket eyeroll angle bracket, which was naturally interpreted as an opening tag and removed.

Did Matt break up with Johnathan Bennett to be with Blue?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 13March 28, 2017 4:14 AM

He was roommates with Jaimie Alexander btw.

by Anonymousreply 14March 28, 2017 4:15 AM

I still think Matt broke up with Jonathan because he was unwilling to come out. Meeting Blue probably helped him realize that he couldn't stay with him any longer.

by Anonymousreply 15March 28, 2017 4:16 AM

Matt was dating Bennett when he first met Blue and Blue was dating someone else.

by Anonymousreply 19March 28, 2017 4:19 AM

R15 Supposedly Jonathan can't keep his hands to himself or his dick is his pants - he has apparently slept with most of gay hollywood. Hell, even that douchebag YouTuber Travis Bryant broke up with him because he was "giving out handjobs at the Abbey..."

by Anonymousreply 20March 28, 2017 4:22 AM

I still cry everytime I watch this video...

by Anonymousreply 21March 28, 2017 4:41 AM

R10 That is pretty gay. I love how Howard Stern and Robin weren't buying his being straight.

by Anonymousreply 22March 28, 2017 4:47 AM

Does he still act? Like what does Matt do for income?

by Anonymousreply 23March 28, 2017 5:07 AM

[quote]... the truth would have upset so many people.

That's the same reason I got aquitted

by Anonymousreply 24March 28, 2017 5:13 AM

R23 Well I wouldn't necessarily call it acting but he has appeared on TV shows, like that cooking channel show for bad cooks. If you watch his YT channel, he is constantly leaving for acting gigs so he must be getting some work, no matter how D-list it is, it still brings in the money...

by Anonymousreply 25March 28, 2017 5:14 AM

I love their Youtube videos. I wish there were more gay Youtubers like them out there.

by Anonymousreply 26March 28, 2017 5:17 AM

OP's embarassing clip should be played every time some troll claims Zac Efron/Louis Tomlinson/Fill in the blank is straight "becayse he SAYS he's straight! He has no reason to LIE."

by Anonymousreply 27March 28, 2017 5:31 AM

Matt's been filming some low budget films lately. He spent the last couple of weeks in LA staying with Jean Luc Bilodeau while filming.

by Anonymousreply 28March 28, 2017 5:33 AM

I think he and Blue Hamilton were having problems and they adopted the kid thinking it would repair their relationship.

by Anonymousreply 29March 28, 2017 5:45 AM

R29 is one of Rosie's kids.

by Anonymousreply 30March 28, 2017 5:52 AM

Big things are happening according to their latest video. At least we know it's not Matt's penis.

by Anonymousreply 31March 28, 2017 4:06 PM

R31 Seems like they may be moving but they just renovated their house - maybe they are flippers :) I think Blue is the more dominant one in the relationship - that ass smack didn't even phase Matt so it wasn't his first :)

by Anonymousreply 32March 28, 2017 8:06 PM

They've talked about moving to Colorado or New York. I think New York is out of their price range. I bet they're moving to Colorado or found a better house in Arizona.

by Anonymousreply 33March 28, 2017 8:10 PM

Blue has said many times he wants to go live in the woods. He grew up in the country in Colorado and wants it for his son.

by Anonymousreply 34March 30, 2017 7:13 AM

They're apparently relocating to LA, where Matt has several projects pending. He has been commuting back and forth, staying with his old friend and co-star from Kyle XY, Jean-Luc Bilodeau.

by Anonymousreply 35April 6, 2017 2:57 AM

Did Matt and Jean-Luc ever fuck? That would have been hot.

by Anonymousreply 36April 6, 2017 3:00 AM

Yes, but probably not. Jean-luc is apparently straight.

by Anonymousreply 37April 6, 2017 3:04 AM

They sold their house but they don't have a new place yet. They could not have been looking too far away though because Blue said he was searching for places all day every day.

Funny about all this. I realized I was gay back in '73 and you know I don't know that it was that traumatic for me. Telling people was hard but not so hard I would make up elaborate stories. I guess I was lucky but you'd think the last ten years would have been a whole different ballgame....

by Anonymousreply 38April 6, 2017 3:29 AM

I can't blame the kid. He was young, had his own show with a once in a lifetime chance to make a hit and establish his acting career. Though, he probably should have focused on improving his acting instead, starting with not crinkling up his forehead constantly. It made him look like an alien.

by Anonymousreply 39April 6, 2017 3:37 AM

R39 I also applaud him for coming out but he cannot realistically blame that on the current state of his career.

He came out because his career stalled. It didn't help. Let's not blame the poor horse because it died and didn't get him where he wanted.

Coming out = good

Coming out after everyone knows = desperate

by Anonymousreply 40April 6, 2017 5:14 AM

Leave him alone.

by Anonymousreply 41April 6, 2017 5:16 AM

He was a cute actor who caught a good break with a decently accepted show. His show ended. What he does after that fact is not really only up to him but falls to luck and also a ton of hitting the pavement on his part. Let's face it - it often requires a whole lot more as we know. His story is the same as the gargantuan encyclopedia written by the millions of actors before him - it's a tough business. Even actors who catch a big break are not guaranteed a career after. (Insert cast members of almost every hit sitcom or drama from the beginning of television here)

by Anonymousreply 42April 6, 2017 5:35 AM

I love Matt Dallas but I think a part of the reason his career hasn't really gone anywhere is the fact that he's not really that great of an actor.

by Anonymousreply 43April 6, 2017 5:40 AM

Does Blue have a job?

by Anonymousreply 44April 7, 2017 4:51 PM

^^^^Blue Hamilton is a songwriter and performer. He's on iTunes.

by Anonymousreply 45April 7, 2017 7:04 PM

R45, that can't be bringing more than pocket change to their household.

by Anonymousreply 46April 7, 2017 10:01 PM

Check out Blue's Supermoon, Stoned in Ojai, or the fun novelty Plaid Pantalones. All on the Radio Flyer album.

by Anonymousreply 47April 9, 2017 7:52 PM

So Howard is helping him prove he isn't gay? People forget how anti-gay Stern used to be.

Maybe one of his daughters is a dyke now.

by Anonymousreply 48April 9, 2017 8:07 PM

This is the house they just sold (3/30). Blue bought it for $150k in 2011 and did most or all of the work on it himself (with Matt's help).

I like it. The updates are simple and don't look something everyone else does.

by Anonymousreply 50April 11, 2017 2:52 AM

2011 was a perfect year to buy and particularly in the Phoenix area (not a fan myself, but boy was did it go from boom to bust in a period of 3 or 4 years back then). It was amazing what you could pick up for nothing. 2011/early 2012 was definitely the time to buy in LA too. If only I could turn back time. I was happily renting a $2600/month very nice apartment when many very sleek, very nice condos and townhomes in Hollywood Hills East and Studio City were short selling for $300/350K. They now sell for $900K plus IF they ever come on the market. Hindsight is always 20/20. Blue's home is very tasteful and attractive. I think that it still needs a few updates, but it certainly is a perfectly fresh, neutral canvas.

by Anonymousreply 51April 11, 2017 2:59 AM

R51, you're telling me. I was eyeing a dirt cheap condo in the Valley during that time. It needed a ton of renovations but I could have scraped together the money if I tried. It's now worth 2 1/2 times what it sold for back than.

by Anonymousreply 52April 11, 2017 3:02 AM

Fuck - so true R52! It is best that I try not to think about it. I tend to get bitter and want to slit my own throat over my stupidity. At the time, I loved where I lived, was very busy with work and not feeling up to a move, selling stock for a downpayment and or undergoing renovations (some of the units that I looked at didn't really need all that much either). Let's hold out for the next real estate BUST - I know that it is coming soon, but fear that LA will not be affected as detrimentaly as it was the last time. Damn I need a drink.. LOL

by Anonymousreply 53April 11, 2017 3:13 AM

R51/53, I agree, the upcoming bust won't be as bad as the last one here. Although I am hoping otherwise. HA! I'm so jealous of my co-workers who bought when the market was at the bottom.

by Anonymousreply 54April 11, 2017 6:22 AM

I wonder how many threesomes happened in that house before the kid came along.

by Anonymousreply 55April 11, 2017 6:28 AM

I lived in the same building on the same floor with Matt and while I never kept a close eye on him (honestly, I was not all that infatuated) - I never saw anyone coming or going from his place at all. He mostly hung out with his girlfriend (girl who was just a friend) and that was about it. Nice guy and nuttier than a fruitcake. But, yes - very friendly and seemingly celibate for all intents and purposes.

by Anonymousreply 56April 11, 2017 6:43 AM

Matt said before he started dating Blue he was reluctant to do so because he considered Blue a total slut.

by Anonymousreply 57April 11, 2017 7:58 AM

[quote]he considered Blue a total slut.

Jonathan Bennett is also a complete manwhore.

Face it Dallas, you clearly have a type.

by Anonymousreply 58April 11, 2017 8:03 AM

R56 In what way was he "nuttier than a fruitcake"?

Wore white after Labor Day?

Actually enjoyed Aplets and Cotlets?

Dressed up in kooky outfits?

Voted for Republicans?

by Anonymousreply 59April 11, 2017 8:13 AM

Who the hell would fuck Blue? Matt has a tiny dick so he doesn't have a lot of options. Blue is just ugly as fuck.

Please post your picture for us r60.

Tell me about it.

by Anonymousreply 62April 11, 2017 9:47 AM

Jealous much R60?

by Anonymousreply 63April 12, 2017 2:14 AM

R59, he was spastic, ADD, made crazed "faces" while talking, often danced verses walked and was hard to hold a conversation with as he was all over the place with his talk track and wildly roaming all over the place eyes. That said, he was a very sweat guy, a wonderful neighbor and his female gal pal was lovely and chatty when she was out walking her beautiful little dog. She was strikingly attractive and I learned later on that she stared in quite a few tv shows and movies. Beautiful girl. And...he is a beautiful boy. Crazy but wonderful nonetheless - all in all, he is a really good person from what I could tell.

by Anonymousreply 64April 12, 2017 2:41 AM

I don't see how anyone can call Blue ugly. He's not as handsome as Matt but he's still a good looking guy. I think he's sexy.

Sans doute. But the way he looked circa Mean Girls, he surely had his pick of men. Bennett picked ALL of them.

Hell, you're only young and hot once so I'm glad if he enjoyed his (all too brief) good looks.

by Anonymousreply 69February 3, 2020 5:08 PM

It's a shame he had give that embarrassing interview. I would love for Matt or any hot guy tell Howard: "Gay, as in taking it the poop chute? Is that what you mean? Hell ya! I love a hard, thick 12" inches thrusting in and all night long! You want me to hook you up? Is that why your asking?"

by Anonymousreply 70February 3, 2020 9:55 PM

I remember listening to this live and was furious. His interview is grotesque: "I guess" I would kiss a guy in a movie role, I don't know.... What a piece of shit.

I despise homophobic people in general but admit I am especially hard on homophobic gay men. If you are gay and deny that you are gay, you are anti-gay. If you are hiding it, you are shameful, shame-filled and a coward. I understand there are exceptions: teenagers who will get kicked out of their homes, people living in countries who face jail or execution, etc...I grew up in the deep south in religious schools in the 80s and early 90s and could (and did) easily "pass" in high school. But once I was out of my home town and living on my own, of course I came out. Because I am not a homophobic piece of garbage.

by Anonymousreply 75February 4, 2020 9:48 PM

He caved to pressure. He's not a monster. And his avowed heterosexuality lasted less than five minutes. He's also very out as one of two gays dads to an adopted son. He's not the enemy.

by Anonymousreply 76February 4, 2020 10:09 PM

His avowed heterosexuality lasted more than a decade into his adult life, into his 30s. He's not the "enemy" in the same way that anti-gay politicians (e.g.: Schock) are. But he is super lame and did his part to damage (beyond just "not contributing") gay rights and acceptance with the ridiculous act. Same with Ricky Martin and his vile "I'm a red blooded man" how dare you accuse me of being gay nonsense. I hate that people who actually sacrificed and risked something are carrying these dead weight douche bags who did nothing to help the cause and actively did things to hurt it. But I guess it's all OK now because he has a husband and a son, living with legal and cultural protections that would NOT EXIST if all gay people were sniveling, cowardly, anti-gay snits like him. It's very much parallel to those Fox News bitches who rail against (or at least do not openly support) feminism and gender equality (e.g.: Gretchen Carlson) but yet they enjoy the protections of laws that feminists have been fighting and sacrificing for over a century.

by Anonymousreply 77February 4, 2020 11:08 PM

Nah, Matt Dallas was not working against gay rights or making jabs at gay people. He made a mistake. Perez Hilton was also an ass for drawing jizz on every minor closeted Hollywood actor's photo. Hilton thought he was being cute while reducing other gay people to "jizz guzzlers."

by Anonymousreply 78February 4, 2020 11:19 PM

I see, a mistake. So he "accidentally" pretended to be straight for more than a decade, into his 30s? It was intentional and it was based on anti-gay bigotry and cowardice. "Internalized" homophobia is still homophobia. If a black person walks around in white face due to shame at his skin color, that is a "jab" at all people of color. Perez is gross for calling a two year old ugly, among other reasons, but he was absolutely in the right to report on the personal lives of gay celebrities so long as he was doing the same for the straights. Both mainstream and more gossipy press outlets would eagerly post about heterosexual affairs, drug addiction, domestic disputes, whatever. But they would almost never (until gawker came along, thank god) report the fact that someone is gay. That was just a bridge to far, that is just too terrible to report. It should be reported like any neutral fact about a person: graduating from State U or having blue eyes or whatever. You don't see the inherent anti-gay bigotry in that disparate application of journalistic standards to heterosexual vs. homosexual people?

by Anonymousreply 79February 4, 2020 11:34 PM

Perez didn't target heavy hitters, only up and comers. There was no bravery in that.

by Anonymousreply 80February 4, 2020 11:52 PM

Matt pretended to be straight for a decade? While being pictured all over town with Jonathan Bennett? He had two brief attempts at appearing straight - the Stern interview, and posing with Blu Cantrell.

by Anonymousreply 81February 4, 2020 11:53 PM

[Quote] If a black person walks around in white face due to shame at his skin color, that is a "jab" at all people of color

What's the gay version of white face in this scenario? Bearding? Dallas did not beard for a decade. What he engaged in is nothing compared to the likes of Travolta.

by Anonymousreply 82February 4, 2020 11:55 PM

[Quote] It should be reported like any neutral fact about a person

When is gossip neutral? Until someone shares that information, it doesn't become a fact. Dallas wasn't married to a man yet. He couldn't have been, of course. Marriage equality had yet to be passed. Perhaps you might take a second to consider how much has changed even in the last ten years. These changes have empowered people, including Matt Dallas.

by Anonymousreply 83February 4, 2020 11:57 PM

[Quote] You don't see the inherent anti-gay bigotry in that disparate application of journalistic standards to heterosexual vs. homosexual people?

No one is descriminated against for being heterosexual. I take the "there's a seat at the table" approach. I don't throw hissy fits if someone is not out. And I absolutely do not class the Matt Dallases of a decade ago as the same as the Larry Craigs or Aaron Shocks.

by Anonymousreply 84February 4, 2020 11:59 PM

It was a verifiable fact that Matt Dallas was gay well before he came out in his 30s in 2013. I have taken more than a second to consider what has changed in the past ten years and in my own small way I contributed to those changes starting 25 years ago when it actually took a bit of courage and risk to come out in some parts of the country. Were everyone to take the Matt Dallas/closet coward approach, not much would have changed over the past ten, twenty or thirty years. But great that he can contribute to homophobia and then enjoy the protections that others stood up for. Agree he is nowhere as scummy as Craig or Schock because he did not mount legal or political campaigns against gay people. Totally different category: cowardly and homophobic but not pure evil like Schock or Craig. Not the same at all.

by Anonymousreply 85February 5, 2020 12:03 AM

[Quote] I contributed to those changes starting 25 years ago when it actually took a bit of courage and risk to come out in some parts of the country.

Were you working as a fantasy figure for women at the time?

by Anonymousreply 86February 5, 2020 12:06 AM

[Quote] great that he can contribute to homophobia

That's a pretty unfounded charge. He never made any antigay comments. He didn't act disgusted at the suggestion he was gay.
