Today I'm listening to a Pointer Sister's playlist. Some of the tracks include: "Goldmine", "He Turned Me Out", "Yes We Can", "Automatic", "Dare Me", "Neutron Dance", etc. I loved Ruth, June & Anita Pointer back in the day.
Such amazing vocalists with unique sounds and styles that blended together perfectly. "I'm So Excited" is still one of the best dance tunes ever!

I loved those bitches music. I even liked Bonnie.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 18, 2017 8:08 PM |

I liked that song with the chimes Bonnie released after leaving the group.

Cause when we kiss, FIRE!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 19, 2017 1:37 AM |
Ha! Bonnie Pointer performed at our local gay bar one night and she was FUCKED UP! She preferred to let the 20 minute version of Heaven must have sent you (on cassette!) Run on and on while her dancers looked confused!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 19, 2017 1:48 AM |
Poor Bonnie. She bailed just as her sisters caught fire. Only one minor hit with her sibs (Yes We Can Can), then she left and boom...He's So Shy, Slow Hand, Fire, I'm So Excited, and of course...Jump.

Their music has a unique exuberance that will make you feel good even when you feel rotten.
"I'm So Excited"
"Happiness"
"Save This Night For Love"
"Bring Your Sweet Stuff Home"
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 19, 2017 3:20 AM |
I love "neutron Dance" and listen to it when I'm really down
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 19, 2017 3:41 AM |
If You Wanna Get Back Your Lady was a great song and should've been a big hit for them.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 19, 2017 3:56 AM |
The Pointer Sisters did one of the most fun shows I've ever seen, at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas when Siegfried and Roy were on break from their usual residency there. I've loved them ever since.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 19, 2017 4:12 AM |
OK, the Blues Brothers show at the old Universal Amphitheater was also pretty amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 19, 2017 4:18 AM |
I love the Pointer Sisters. My (dead) friend used to say "They're so trashy". Pissed me off...
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 19, 2017 1:21 PM |
Totally fun music.

Bonnie was so shitty. I'm glad she left and went solo early in their career.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 19, 2017 2:14 PM |
Those bitches had great hair.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 19, 2017 3:33 PM |
I liked June (R.I.P.) Pointer's 2nd solo album "June Pointer" in 1989. Anita's solo album "Love For What It Is" was ok in 1987. I really liked the single "Overnight Success" from the album.

June was a lesbian. Porn star Nikki Sinn said she lost her virginity to her when she was in her teens.

Don't be silly. A girl can't lose her virginity to another girl.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 19, 2017 4:24 PM |
R29 There has never been a porn star called June Pointer or a porn parody about them. It's been discussed on here before that June was a lesbian.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 19, 2017 4:35 PM |
This is one of the first songs I remember by them:
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 19, 2017 4:45 PM |
june wasn't a lesbian and there is/was a porn june pointer.

True story--the first time I ever put a dick in my mouth, "Slowhand" was playing. I was 14, but the song had been out a few years. My best friend and I had been experimenting for a year or so, but that was the first time we tried oral. Good times!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 19, 2017 9:05 PM |
True story, I became gay because of the POINTERS
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 20, 2017 12:21 AM |
It was rumored early on that they were actually the Pointer Brothers.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 20, 2017 2:47 AM |
I love their song "Twist My Arm" from CONTACT.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 20, 2017 11:29 AM |
I love all of the fourties stuff they did
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 20, 2017 12:00 PM |
I like the 40s shit they did but they mostly did the 40s look with contemporary r&b. I know their 2nd album had several 40s style songs on it though
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 20, 2017 12:03 PM |
I l ike the song "Hot Together".
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 20, 2017 12:04 PM |
R40, I loved it. "Salt peanuts", "little pony". So sexy
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 20, 2017 12:06 PM |
"Salt Peanuts" and "little pony" were NOT sexy. They were stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 20, 2017 12:07 PM |
totally sexy big band jazz, you're an idiot
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 20, 2017 12:48 PM |
it is not sexy to yell "salt peanuts" over and over so fast it sounds like you're saying "salt penis".
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 20, 2017 2:04 PM |
I was surprised to hear from Ruth that they were all such coke-heads back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 20, 2017 2:36 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 20, 2017 5:51 PM |
I love their music.
I mostly knew them from "He's So Shy" and their 80s stuff, but I also fell in love with their older stuff when I heard it, especially "Fairytale," which is amazing, and "Jada." Love their older stuff now.
But this one still gets me, hits my heart. It just brings back those childhood sunny summer days, that feeling of positivity and beauty and hope. It's lovely, and it brings a happy tear to my eye when I hear it.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 20, 2017 5:56 PM |
yum!!!
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 20, 2017 8:14 PM |
The Pointers admitted the "Automatic" vocals were styled after Stevie Wonder.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 20, 2017 8:16 PM |
r56, i thought the music was styled after Prince.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 20, 2017 8:57 PM |

For years, I couldn't stand to hear "Jump" since it was SO overplayed, but I was at a party recently and it came on..I enjoyed hearing it.

They need a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 20, 2017 10:28 PM |
I love the Pointer Sisters. Although this was the beginning of the end, I even enjoyed their flop New Jack Swing album "Serious Slammin'".
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 20, 2017 10:48 PM |
Loved serious slammin, right rhythm, and only sisters can do that.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 20, 2017 11:02 PM |
I like that they all got their turn on lead vocals. Didn't June do a duet with Bruce Willis?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 21, 2017 2:27 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 21, 2017 2:28 PM |
You can see them sing in a video
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 22, 2017 2:58 PM |
Dayum they had some jacked-up teeth early in life. Stereotypical eating corn on the cob through a knothole.

It was overplayed because Procter & Gamble used it to sell Bounce fabric softener and bought ad space for it practically every show on TV watched by fraus, including but not limited to the soaps. They also used The Four Tops' "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" to sell Duncan Hines brownies.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 23, 2017 12:37 AM |
A couple of them posed nude together for Penthouse or some other men's magazine. I never saw such sad looking tits, especially on the buck-toothed one.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 23, 2017 12:59 AM |
Love them! Ruth Pointer wrote an excellent autobiography a year or so ago. Among other marvelous things, Ruth is a sincere and true ally to the LGB(T) community.

by Anonymous | reply 89 | March 26, 2017 1:44 PM |
yeah, r89. It was over years before. June died in 2004 or 2006. Their last album was in 1993.
