I have a friend (former co-worker) who is like this. She has tats everywhere including neck and chest; tongue, nose and other piercings; forked tongue; Elvin ears; and a snowflake carved into her forehead. Her longtime boyfriend has a Mohawk and ear gauges, and I don't know what else as I don't want to know.

He's a web designer with his own company, and she is a freelance writer/editor, so it isn't always necessary that she look office appropriate as she works from home. However, I'm sure it still impedes her ability to get work, and ensures she probably gets most of her jobs (him, too) within the subculture. (I know he did work for Buck Angel.)

She is super sweet and I'm not about to criticize her choices, but inside my own head and not for her consumption, I cannot help but think what she really needs is intensive counseling, and that all of this is... signs of something seriously wrong.
