‘Don’t touch me’: CNN panel goes off the rails when Kayleigh McEnany accuses Charles Blow of ‘sinister motivations’…
Charles Blow tells Kayleigh McEnany "Don't touch me" in heated Don Lemin segmeny
by Anonymous | reply 95 | June 26, 2020 1:13 AM |
Guuuuuuuurrrl.
I don't blame him. She's repulsive.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 17, 2017 4:15 PM |
Segmeny is a fantastic word. I'm not being sarcastic; it's fun to say.

I always cringe when combating pundits touch each other on shows like this. Women seem to initiate it. It happens on Bill Maher'a show all the time.
"Bitch, did I invite you to touch me?? Then keep your icy grip to yourself!!"
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 17, 2017 4:23 PM |
CNN needs to dump these ridiculous debate panels. They can have debates, but use politicians, policy experts, guest journalists, or organizational representatives, not these paid, yapping pundits.
I am sick of seeing Jeffrey Lord and all the rest doing their spinning and deflections.

Charles Blow don't play that

Yes, Don Lemon's show is a disaster and he needs to fix it. But I suspect they like all the drama because it boosts the ratings.

I agree. Sorry but I thing Blow overreacted. She shouldn't have done it but his response was way over the top.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 17, 2017 4:52 PM |
I tweeted to both CNN and Anderson Cooper yesterday begging them to show Jeffrey Lord the door as he is nothing more than an insult to anyone that has over a 90 IQ. I intentionally omitted mentioning Kayleigh as she nothing but an aerated 2-dimensional bimbo.

Charles Blow is a brilliant writer
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 17, 2017 4:54 PM |
I don't know how anyone watches CNN these days - haven't watched in years. They knowingly give platforms to hyperbolic, lying, low-lifes like this woman (and the orange shit). How exactly are they in any way being informative or elevating political discourse when these are the types of people they insist on employing? I mean what you're saying by hiring these types of people is that you want to be the Jerry Springer of news networks when you're looking more for a combative discussion than a fact-based, intelligent one.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 17, 2017 4:55 PM |
CNN must feel that these panels with people screaming at each other draw in viewers and are profitable. The Trump surrogates are worthless - Kayleigh McEninny is a special waste of molecules.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 17, 2017 5:21 PM |
I have to say I agree with most on this thread. But, (R210), when Anderson Cooper finally asked Jeffrey Lord the question I've been waiting for anybody to ask him, (paraphrasing), "Is there anything Trump can do that you won't defend?" , I cheered.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 17, 2017 5:27 PM |
R12 It was hilarious on SNL when Kate McK/KellyAnne Conway mentioned McEnany in the Fatal Attraction take-off.
"Do I look like Kayleigh McEnany?"
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 17, 2017 5:29 PM |
Kayleigh is annoying. She's VERY passive-aggressive and does the typical Trump turd supporting thing. She'll deflect, pivot, spin facts and then get offended when people react to her. I do think Charles kweened out and overreacted but he's very dramatic and I don't blame him for blowing up on her ass.
I actually like the debate panels because as terrible as the Trump tv turds are, the Trump turd supporters watching at home think just like them. It's fun seeing them get embarrassed and shut down.
Andre Bauer is the male version of Kayleigh

[quote]Kayleigh is annoying. She's VERY passive-aggressive and does the typical Trump turd supporting thing.
I only know of her from the occasional clip that comes up every so often of her where her desperation to be famous no matter the means, is obvious.
Every time I see her, I'm reminded of the woman from the "Black Hole Sun" video. Her smile is so "Stepford wife." She could say the most repulsive thing, and that dumb, fake smile is plastered on her face.

Charles Blow over the top? You think, R9
His writing has become one giant unreadable screech about Trump. It reads like something a bunch of high school students write to protest the mean new vice principal.
He's never been one of the Times' stars, but he's become a parody of himself. (Though he seems to keep many Times readers happy.)

CNN is definitely the Jerry Springer of news networks. Disgusting, and it's why I don't watch it. Well, that and Wolf Blitzer.
MSNBC is the best. Say what you want about Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann (and really, what are you gonna say about Maddow? She's too smart? Something about her looks?), they have the best commentary. I don't know what I would do without Maddow, O'Donnell, and their regular guests like Malcolm Nance and David Corn, et al.
Yes, this Blow guy overreacted. There's a black people discussion group on Facebook called Kinfolk Kollective, and they're so glad he reacted how he did. I mean, he's right to hate her—she's absolutely vile and had no business touching him—but I've seen it time and again with certain people totally overreacting by people touching them in the nicest, most innocent way. I'm not talking about a caress or grabbing or touching on genitals or breast or face. Ugh.
This is why they call us snowflakes.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 18, 2017 12:08 AM |
The thing is, off camera, I think they almost all do get along (the regular circus acts on CNN.) Blow isn't a regular and is very intense (or a drama queen.) And he lives in the distinct bubble of the NYT all day so you know he has no perspective about the real world at all.
Still, Kayley and Lord (I think he is far worse than her) offer no value at all. They transcend yoga twisting facts into spun bullshit. But CNN is basically talk radio on TV now. Do they have the capacity to really cover any news outside of DC or NYC?
To his credit though last night AC got exasperated with Lord and flat out asked him if there was anything he wouldn't spin into a Trump triumph. Lord just giggled like he does. It is what CNN pays him to do. Play that part esp later at night when they know fewer people watch. The substantial commentators seem to be on early evening. Lemon rarely has anyone other than his trained seals, barking on cue.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 18, 2017 12:30 AM |
R31 they did face off last night on Don's show. It didn't get super testy but Charles was talking over Paris lol Paris was trying not to show his frustration. Charles was rolling his eyes when Paris spun things too. They were talking about Trump asking April Ryan to set up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. Paris gave the typical idiotic answers and Charles wasn't accenpting them

THANK YOU!
I thought I was the ONLY one that hated these panels. The problem is that the moderator NEVER challenges the Trump surrogates. I think that this format only helped divide the electorate even more. This isn't a debate. It's just a platform to spew sound bites. Yes, I supported Hillary but the spin by Jeffrey Lord and Kayleigh McEnany was just too much!
I don't know who I dislike more; Jeffrey Lord, Kayleigh McEnany, or that bitch Paris Dennard. I can even tolerate Cory Lewandowski more than I can any of those three.
Now, as for Miss Blow... TOO MUCH DRAMA! He's the one that gets on my nerves!

R35 "The problem is that the moderator NEVER challenges the Trump surrogates."
My feeling is they don't think it's necessary. Most of what they say, especially Dennard, is so ridiculous it's just not necessary. Lemon says everything with his facial expression. At times you can see he's just holding back the laughter. And sometimes he doesn't hold it back. Surprisingly, yesterday Anderson did challenge Jeffrey Lord. He asked "is there anything Trump can do that you won't defend?"
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 18, 2017 1:06 AM |
I can't stand Lemon with his grimaces and giggles and self references... he wants to be the sassy black chick side kick but he just looks like a fool. He makes Anderson look like a great mind of journalism. If Don wants to prance he should get a talk show or second chair with Kelly.

I follow you, R41. But, I view your statement like I view this past election. We take things for granted. Let me explain;
I just finished drinks with a colleague. He is late 40's or early 50's. He's a family man--2 kids in college, wife,... middle class, and professional. What I heard from him shocked me! Just let me say it was as if I was listening to Sean Hannity live. He just regurgitated all of those conservative sound bites. There's no debating with these type of people. There is no education learning curve. They believe what they believe. Any deviation from that is just noise to them.
I listened as he went on about that disaster Trump press conference. He thought it was great! So, my point is that these panels do nothing. It doesn't open the minds of the viewers. If anything it they only reinforce what people already believe.

You wrote you were shocked at your friend, yet you should have been less shocked considering what you've been seeing on the CNN panels. Those Trumpetts are for real. Now that being said, Charles has also been posting about how much better he looks since he has been working out for the last 2 years. He also added an Instagram pic of his 3 smart-looking children. He is very entertaining these days. He also is getting gayer by the second.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 18, 2017 5:11 AM |
R48, I agree. And you know what, MSNBC does it, too. Late the other night after Trump's press conference they were talking about it and it said "Breaking News: Trump Holds 77-Minute Press Conference" or something like that. Something about the conference. Well guess what, MSNBC, it's not STILL a breaking news story at 10:00 at night! There isn't more to learn about it, the details aren't still coming in. It's a done deal.
It's insulting to the intelligence of even a slightly discerning viewer, and it's blatantly done for ratings grabs.
Off topic but since he was mentioned upthread: does anyone else wonder if Corey Lewandowski is hung?

Blow's reaction was perfectly fine. There's no reason for people to touch you while they're talking to you while in a professional environment.
This is them at their job and not sitting in some bar. It should be perfectly clear for people to respect each other's personal space and act in a professional manner. What's wrong with Blow asking McWhatever to act like a professional? At work!

by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 18, 2017 2:29 PM |
The problem is, they aren't conservatives. They're irrational Trump supporters. There are no intelligent, calm Republicans willing to defend Trump. It's indefensible, he goes against a lot of conservative core beliefs ($$$) and he's a friggin' wild card- anyone with integrity isn't going to defend him with their good name, when tomorrow he might drop the N word on live tv.
So we get Kayleigh (Jesus Christ what a name) and Jeffrey. Making America great again.

NO, ban both Republican (Trump) and Democratic party pundits. Maybe have them as guests on occassion, not multiple times a day, every day. When one can confidently predict what each may say, the tactic is way overused.
I'd rather see Congressman or Senators debate or something similar. I am all for both sides being heard and having an atmosphere of fairness.

He was right to say , "don't touch me and then attack, belittle me", to her. Then Kayleigh went on and on with mischaracterization of the encounter and of him. She was definitely being very passive-aggressive and baiting him with that gesture. He objected and she played innocent and upped the ante by being affronted and playing a victim! Charles Blow was sexually abused multiple times while growing up. He has written a memoir and he talked about the abuse on "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross.

by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 19, 2017 6:08 AM |
I saw that when it aired. I thought it was about time Lemon put that jackass in his place. They are told beforehand the topics that will be debated. Dennard refused to yield, he refused to stop pivoting. I was aggravated way before Don Lemon.
McEnany, Jeffrey Lord, even that other guy do show signs of intelligence at times. Dennard is as dumb as they come. He's an insult even to Trump supporters.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 19, 2017 6:15 AM |
[quote]Dennard refused to yield, he refused to stop pivoting.
PLEASE STOP using the word "pivoting"! It's called LYING!
In my opinion, this is the problem with our politics! We think of our politics too much as a sports game. "Who's winning"; "Who scored this or that point". We really deserve better than this. These Trump surrogates are never really challenged on all of the mess they say. Their strategy is quite obvious; Speak authoritatively and weave in a twisted point of what a previous, (usually President Obama) Administration has done. Kellyanne Conway, Paris Dennard (like who is she? What's are story?), and Jeffrey Lord are the worst at doing this.
I believe that the other side should be heard. In fact, I rather enjoy hearing about he alternative view. But, when nothing more is being done than obfuscating the truth or just outright lying, these people need to called on all of it!
The words that I've come to hate: "Pivoting", "Alternative Facts", "Dithering", I'm sure there are a few more but by using these words and terms only seeks to normalize LIES.
