i thought he was hot in the cider house rules. i read the book before seeing the movie, mostly because tobey's picture was on the cover of one of the paperback editions. he didn't age well at all. the contract marriage to the daughter of the head of universal didn't help.

That is bullshit, it gives reasons why and yet it says other with the exact same issues don't have problems. That's like saying, Tobey can't get a role because he looks young, but other actors who look young can. That explains nothing.

He was almost fired from Spider Man 3 (or was it 2?) and replaced with Jake G. for reasons I can't remember.

Spiderman 3 wasn't his fault. When the rebooted it, he was thought to old to continue on.

Sounds like he was type cast as Spiderman, casting directors can't imagine him doing any other roles.

He's a shallow person with limited interests. Apparently he spends most of his time gambling, shopping, and picking up on underage girls in European clubs.

He is weird looking. Nobody wants to cast a middle aged man who looks like a wrinkled teenager.

Another of the past generation's "actors" who was well-known for a bit more actually for their somewhat interesting sounding name, than for their true acting skills (or lack thereof), methinks.

Maybe he made so much coin from Spidey that he said fuck it, I'm just gonna live my life. Or maybe he went bald and got fat.
