Is he gay?

r1 Bad plastic surgery, and talk about his boyfriend.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 31, 2016 11:39 PM |
Sometime back in the righties he was rumored to have stopped a concert to yell at the audience for making too much noise and being a distraction to the band. Bit of a Basil Faulty complex.

Real Men is one of my favorite songs from the 80s.
Somebody post a link to the worst concert thread. TIA!

R4 Make that "eighties" not "righties." Damn autocorrect.

I used to see him at the Strand all the time.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 31, 2016 11:50 PM |
I remember him talking about a foreskin problem and having to get circumsized as an adult.

He dated a tranny in the 80s. Must be bi at the very least.

Loved his song "Steppin' Out" but honestly I don't know a single other thing he has done.

Back in the 80's Joe and his band put on a very memorable concert. We went to see the opening performer. Everyone was ready to leave when Joe Jackson was about to come on stage. I convinced our crowd to stay. His was an outstanding performance. Everyone was glad we stayed for Joe Jackson too.

When I was reading the post about him on the worst concerts thread, at first I thought the poster was referring to Michael Jackson's father and I was confused about when he ever had a musical career of his own

I've never seen him live. I used to listen to Body & Soul on my Walkman when I would go running. It really is a great album.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 1, 2017 2:09 AM |
He did the soundtrack for the Debra Winger film Mike's Murder and then the filmmakers decided to go with John Barry's score. Both are great.

"Look over there!.. Where?" Is She Really Going Out With Him was his biggest US hit. 1978 or 79.

Joe Jackson always reminds me of a guy I had a fling with back in college. He'd play Joe Jackson music and we'd smoke weed. He was "straight" and we used to have a really fun time over the course of a few years. Wish I knew where he is now.

Does Joe Jackson have a partner?

I was too, r18.

I love “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” Love it. And the other hits, too.

His debut album, "Look Sharp," is great, every one of the songs.
(My favorite song on the album: "Look Sharp.")

We have a friend in common. He is-- or was, I haven't heard an update -- partnered with a eunuch. I don't know much other than that. I was a little horrified when my friend told me that, I didn't ask any questions.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 15, 2018 8:32 PM |
yes r29! I fucking love him too and hadn't even thought of 'Look Sharp". He has so many great songs.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 15, 2018 8:49 PM |
Oh and "19 Forever" was my song! "wouldn't it be a drag to be like them? they're gonna sell out every dream but I won't get fooled again, cause I'm gonna stay 19 forever..."

I saw Joe Jackson several years back at a small venue in San Francisco. Good show.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 16, 2018 2:06 AM |
Fantastically talented!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 16, 2018 2:38 AM |
He is or was bi and, I think, terribly conflicted about his sexuality.
Now 63 years old....wow

R29 "One More Time" is my JJ jam. The bass line is amazing, seriously.

Fuck off, R26 and R27. There's absolutely nothing wrong with his face.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 16, 2018 10:14 PM |
I've got all Joe's hit singles although he was kind of a 1980's thing. He was kind of an odd duck.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 16, 2018 10:22 PM |
I've got Joe's famous Look Sharp album with the white shoes on it. He said that they really were his shoes but he's lost track of what happened to them.

Joe Jackson is English and has received 5 Grammy nominations.

I have his single I'm The Man which was taken from his second album. Just played the song the other day. catchy tune.

Studio and live versions of "You Can't Get What You Want" are epic. He has more than a few memorable songs.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 17, 2018 3:26 AM |
He's an activist for "Smokers' Rights". That seems a little gross and creepy to me.

Always loved Steppin’ Out, but after watching some of these other videos I suddenly realized that it’s Joe Jackson who is being parodied by Dana Carvey:
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 17, 2018 3:41 AM |
I have loved Joe Jackson since I was a kid and saw "Mad At You," "Real Men" and "Breaking Us In Two" on MTV. He came through my area a couple years ago and I dropped everything and rushed to see him, cuz I only heard about it a couple hours before the show. It was amazing, moving, breathtaking. I was choked up repeatedly throughout the set.
Fast Forward (no pun intended, that's his latest album title, and name of the tour) a year. I go see him again, a few hours away in New Jersey. Different leg of the same tour. Same tour. Same band. Same songs. Same order. Same set list.
Only this time, Joe is reading the lyrics to every song off of an iPad as he sings. Every song, he touches his iPad screen to get to the next song lyric. He missed a few keyboard cues because he was scrolling down on the iPad to get to the next verse, etc. He messed up some basic lyrics on a few songs because of this multi-tasking between the iPad-ing and the keyboards and singing. He was so dependent, and it was so cringe, I came away thinking that he had developed Alzheimer's between the first and second leg of the tour. I mean, there's no explanation. It was plain weird.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 17, 2018 3:55 AM |
That is fucking weird r47! And these songs are 30 years old. Man, I hope he's not early Alzheimer's but what a strange story!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 17, 2018 3:57 AM |
That Carvey bit in no way resembles him. What an odd thing to say.

R49 - Go watch the “Is She Really Going Out with Him” video at R21 and get back to us .

R45 So, he's for freedom. How is that creepy and gross? You sound like a 1984, gross creep.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 17, 2018 5:26 AM |
He has to have been in love or he couldn’t have written “Number Two”. Great song. Saw him in Minneapolis in 89 or 90. I thought it was a good show.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 17, 2018 5:37 AM |
R52, there are limits to that "freedom" when those who claim it engage in an activity that directly affects other people's physical health.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 17, 2018 5:57 AM |
r54 why does what he's saying hurt you? he didn't say that you were through, always something breaking us in two...
