She is but nobody pays attention to Paleo Gays...
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 31, 2016 7:18 AM |
For the same reason she was asked to leave the set of "the Facts of Life," I imagine.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 31, 2016 8:04 AM |
Love her.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 31, 2016 9:06 AM |
She was mean to Toto. Otherwise, I liked everything else about her.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 31, 2016 10:08 AM |
Loved her coffee.

An eensy weensy case of typecasting

No glamour, bravado, pizzazz,no books by overbearing brats, too much green paint, She was mean to gay icon Judy.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 31, 2016 10:41 AM |
A gay icon has to have had at least some physical attractiveness at some point in their lives.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 31, 2016 11:08 AM |
R9 Liberace was never beautiful honey....not even close. Camp yes beautiful no. So was Margaret Hamilton.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 31, 2016 11:26 AM |
She was ugly enough to be a lesbian
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 31, 2016 12:34 PM |
Closeted despicable Liberace was never an icon except to old ladies.
To gay men he was a lying joke.
Gene Tierney
Judy
Joan...
OK I'll give you Bette Midler though there seems to be some evidence that she's a homophobic miserable person at least on DL and loves the money delusional gays throw at her.
And if you're going to insist on Liberace he was considered handsome in the 50s by many people though I'm not one of them.

I must admit that I was routing for the Wicked Witch of the West and felt bad that she was dissolved.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 31, 2016 12:41 PM |
She deserves automatic icon status for dressing her troops like doormen at the Russian Tea Room and putting the flying monkeys into those little bellboy outfits with the pillbox hats.

r13 = Deanna Durbin

Miss Hamilton famously was one of the kindest, meekest people in Hollywood (and New York, where mostly lived. Her son is still alive.
Here she is in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

That's because most of the gays here are carboholics and the only rainbow they've gone over lately is the Skittles rainbow.

She wasn't dissolved. She was LIQUIDATED!

I've heard hat she was very well liked in Hollywood
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 2, 2017 8:16 PM |
R2 and that reason is?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 2, 2017 8:27 PM |
He had lots of wavy hair
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 2, 2017 8:48 PM |
r21 was for r12.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 2, 2017 8:49 PM |
If Van Johnson can be handsome so can Liberace.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 3, 2017 3:14 AM |
She scared the shit out of me as a kid. Margaret Hamilton as the Witch is scarier than Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers combined.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 3, 2017 3:51 AM |
r16, I saw her with Jean Simmons. She was delightful.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 3, 2017 4:13 AM |
Margaret Hamilton was brilliant in her 'Oz' role; so many quotable, memorable lines, delivered superbly.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 3, 2017 4:33 AM |
But what about Billie Burke?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 3, 2017 4:39 AM |
She was an old bitch who to her credit paid off the debts of her late husband. She was marginal but at least had a sense of ethical responsibility about her.

Margaret and Mary Wickes had a decades long relationship.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 11, 2018 3:17 PM |
SHE WAS AND IS A GODDESS.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 11, 2018 3:29 PM |
I was 5 the first time we watched "The Wizard of Oz" on TV, and when the Wicked Witch came on the screen I ran out of the room.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 11, 2018 3:29 PM |
She played the best role in Wizard of Oz
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 11, 2018 3:32 PM |
Back in 1979, when I was a young gayling, I saw Miss Hamilton at a charity event at St. John's University. The audience got to see "The Wizard of Oz" (she sat two rows in front of me) and afterwards she spoke and answered questions. The entire audience fell in love with her. She was absolutely lovely, inside and out.

R15 Deanna Durbin had nothing to be jealous of. She was bigger box-office than Judy Garland, hadn't a drug problem and lived twice as long as she did. Judy was the one who was jealous of Deanna, making nasty jabs on Jack Paar. When frenemy Judy called Deanna when she was performing in Paris complaining about things, Deanna said "Are you still in that fucking business?"

Margaret Hamilton not receiving an Academy Award nomination for her brilliant Wicked Witch of the West creation is one of the biggest injustices in Hollywood history.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 11, 2018 3:40 PM |
Oh, but plenty of folks who have Oscars aren't as well remembered as Maggie Hamilton. Do people talk about Katina Paxinou that much?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 11, 2018 3:44 PM |
I can't believe she wasn't nominated for a Supporting Actress Oscar. Her Wicked Witch was brilliant.
According to Bruce Vilanch, who worked with Hamilton in the 70s, she was a big ol' dyke.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 11, 2018 4:44 PM |
She'll be remembered for that Lin-Manuel Miranda musical about her.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 11, 2018 5:00 PM |
Her cameo on Mr.. Rogers’ Neighborhood (where they demonstrated how she dressed in costume to play the witch) was sweet, because it obviously was done as damage control for preschoolers who were traumatized by The Wizard of Oz, although her appearance on Sesame Street (where she played the witch in full character) was yanked because parents complained.
She seemed like a nice meemaw who liked to help her Hollywood friends and deserves a medal for appearing on that abominable Paul Lynde Halloween Special. (That must be where she met Vilanch.)
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 11, 2018 5:02 PM |
^^^ Meemaw, are you Sheldon Cooper, or is that really a thing in Texas?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 11, 2018 5:22 PM |
