It can be exhausting, or - my experience - you can get injured and have to stop working out for a period of time. I had knee surgery and for almost a year I was unable to work out at all, or (more recently) to the level I had been. I'm starting to get back to the workouts I did before, but I know it will take a while for my body to catch up.
