Anne Rice wants Matt Bomer to play Louis in her Vampire Chronicles TV show

What a great idea!

by Anonymousreply 144July 20, 2018 3:47 AM

I'd watch!!!! However, the vampires would need to be more sexual not just sensual.

by Anonymousreply 1December 2, 2016 2:00 AM

And she thought Tammy was too contemporary and all American to play a decadent bi sexual French aristocrat sucker ?

by Anonymousreply 2December 2, 2016 2:01 AM

I think the article left out part of the title of the TV show. It's actually called The Golden Girls' Vampire Chronicles with Matt Bomer playing Morothy, a tired old vampire squatting with other tired old vampires in some abandoned retirement home while writing his tired old memoires looking back at his former glory (of course his younger self will be played by someone much younger looking).

by Anonymousreply 3December 2, 2016 2:01 AM

Vampire shows are so ovah.

by Anonymousreply 4December 2, 2016 2:02 AM

Louis =Jared Leto

by Anonymousreply 5December 2, 2016 2:20 AM

Love her! She's a big ol' fag hag.

by Anonymousreply 6December 2, 2016 2:21 AM

It will be better than AHS!

by Anonymousreply 7December 2, 2016 3:38 AM

He's way too old.

by Anonymousreply 8December 2, 2016 4:20 AM

He's 39 and looks a few years younger.

He's fine.

However, he's already got another tv series he's about to start shooting.

by Anonymousreply 9December 2, 2016 9:27 AM

Pity R9. Worse things have happened.

by Anonymousreply 10December 2, 2016 10:32 AM

R10 There are plenty of pretty boys waiting in line for a role like this.

by Anonymousreply 11December 2, 2016 10:42 AM

From your lips, ahr fowah.

by Anonymousreply 12December 2, 2016 11:53 AM

Yeah, he's probably not available, but it would be a nice role for him. Not sure how The Last Tycoon is going to work out. The pilot was a little slow.

by Anonymousreply 13December 2, 2016 12:11 PM

I can't think of anything that screams "frau" quite like all that vampire crap. Do you chicks all have unicorn posters over your beds too?

Just transition already, and get that "Twilight" tramp stamp before time and gravity turn your muffin top into a patio umbrella

I can't believe it's taken Matt Bomer this long to get cast as a gay vampire.

by Anonymousreply 15December 2, 2016 12:39 PM

Is Louis really gay? I always thought of him as asexual. Just watching not doing.

by Anonymousreply 16December 2, 2016 12:45 PM

He is more or less gay

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 17December 2, 2016 12:51 PM

This TV show better have a lot of gay kissing and fortification....unlike the hetero crapfest that is the Vampire Diaries.

by Anonymousreply 18December 2, 2016 12:55 PM

R2 - that's my issue with Rice's vampires. They are sensual, but asexual. I see a lot of homoeroticism, but no sex. Same as her books and movies.

by Anonymousreply 19December 2, 2016 2:33 PM

Enough.

by Anonymousreply 20December 2, 2016 2:39 PM

Isn't her son gay and also an author?

by Anonymousreply 21December 2, 2016 2:40 PM

Yes. Christopher Rice

Matt Bomer is too old Louis is meant to be 25. It's got to be Douglas Booth for Lestat though he's the right height and age.

Douglas Booth in Great Expectations

by Anonymousreply 25December 2, 2016 3:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 26December 2, 2016 3:27 PM

W&W for r23!!

by Anonymousreply 27December 2, 2016 3:35 PM

who should be Lestat?

by Anonymousreply 28December 2, 2016 3:37 PM

oh Douglas Booth would be good

by Anonymousreply 29December 2, 2016 3:38 PM

Douglash Boosh.

by Anonymousreply 30December 2, 2016 3:39 PM

Hi, Lizsha!

by Anonymousreply 31December 2, 2016 3:45 PM

I would love having the beautiful adjacent Douglas Booth as Lestat.

by Anonymousreply 32December 2, 2016 3:46 PM

I'd probably go for Maximilian Befort to play Louis

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 33December 2, 2016 4:36 PM

He's already played Gay in Romeo's

by Anonymousreply 34December 2, 2016 4:41 PM

Another Matt Bomer film - masc enough for you, R14?

by Anonymousreply 36December 2, 2016 4:43 PM

Anne Rice wrote a one-off Vampire novel titled "Pandora," about an ancient Roman woman who was turned into a vampire, and she's still around today. It was a great story, and I would love to see that one as a movie.

by Anonymousreply 37December 2, 2016 4:44 PM

IMDB for Maximilian Befort. He's also going to be in SSGB after Christmas

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 38December 2, 2016 4:45 PM

Well whoever gets cast can't be any worse that Brad Pitt was in the film - he was pretty, but amateurish and wooden. Not that Cruise's attempt at Lestat was any better.

by Anonymousreply 39December 2, 2016 5:17 PM

Biggest casting problem is going to be Armand anyway? He's meant to be 17 and Louis is his lover!

I suppose Ezra Miller could get away with it if he muscled down a bit?

by Anonymousreply 40December 2, 2016 5:21 PM

Just what I was thinking R4. Even back then I never understood the fuss gay men made over Anne Rice. I tried reading one of her books. It was terrible. I drove a stake through its spine.

by Anonymousreply 41December 2, 2016 5:29 PM

R40 - I am still pissed that they put that shitty looking rig on Antonio's head and hid his beautiful curls in IwtV. Who's fucking idea was that?

Ugh - do not want to see twinks playing the vampires. I don't care how cute they are. We had that with the horrible Queen of the Damned.

by Anonymousreply 42December 2, 2016 5:33 PM

rig = wig

by Anonymousreply 43December 2, 2016 5:35 PM

The Vampire Armand has quite a lot of gay sex in it.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 44December 2, 2016 5:36 PM

R44 - but he was a boy.

by Anonymousreply 45December 2, 2016 5:40 PM

He wouldn't have been regarded as a boy at the time the novel is set. Girls were often married at 14

by Anonymousreply 46December 2, 2016 5:44 PM

But he is a boy to the viewers and readers... I am glad Armand is older in the movie.

by Anonymousreply 47December 2, 2016 5:46 PM

They aged up Lucrezia Borgia (and used a much older actress) in the Borgias TV show as well, she was only 13 when she married Giovanni Sforza. It made a bit of a nonsense of the whole storyline.

I'm not sure that TV or Film should censor the narrative to meet modern standards?

by Anonymousreply 48December 2, 2016 5:57 PM

Plus 14 is still the age of consent in a lot of Europe today.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 49December 2, 2016 6:03 PM

Bomer looks like a vampire already. Perfect casting. He looks very young for his age with makeup he can be made to look even younger. This is not a tacky vampire teen story. The fans of this franchise are grown ups, x-gens even baby boomers.

by Anonymousreply 50December 2, 2016 7:13 PM

r41, I threw the first book out after page 60 or so, back in the '80s when everyone was cumming in their pants over these books. Horse's Ass Lit.

by Anonymousreply 51December 2, 2016 7:18 PM

Is Douglas Booth gay, too?

by Anonymousreply 52December 2, 2016 7:19 PM

[R50] Anne Rice does clearly identify the characters age. Lestat was around 23, Louis was around 25 and Armand was 17 when they became vampires.

As vampires they do not age. They remain the same as when the received 'The Dark Gift'

by Anonymousreply 53December 2, 2016 7:46 PM

Thank You R50! ITA. I would love to see Bomer in the role.

by Anonymousreply 54December 2, 2016 7:51 PM

R53: Well, since Rice wants Bomer in the role, she's obviously changed her mind about their ages since writing the books. Good.

by Anonymousreply 55December 2, 2016 7:55 PM

There was a hot scene in Interview With the Vampire when Lestat turned his friend Nicholas into a vampire. When Lestat turned Nicholas, their crotches were rubbing together, and Nicholas was rock hard. When Lestat bit into his neck, he ejaculated and Lestat could feel the wetness in his own crotch. I jerked off to that scene so many times as a teenager.

by Anonymousreply 56December 2, 2016 8:08 PM

R55 Maybe she has? But in makes a nonsense of Armand & Lestat's back stories?

by Anonymousreply 57December 2, 2016 8:14 PM

R56: Yes - Hot! I also loved the scene in the movie when Lestat turned Louis. It was analogous with an orgasm in intensity.

by Anonymousreply 58December 2, 2016 8:14 PM

Even Ryan Murphy recognized that Bomer was simply to old to play a character like Louis when he cast him as a fading beauty vampire in last season's AHS.

These characters should go to actors in their mid-20s.

by Anonymousreply 59December 2, 2016 8:28 PM

@R59 you full of BS. He was anything but fading beauty. Remember "jawline for daaaaaays"? Donovan was turned when he was very young. Bomer was a bit too old for that role imo.

by Anonymousreply 60December 2, 2016 8:35 PM

The ENTIRE POINT of the role was that Donovan was an aging beauty who was cast aside by The Countess for a younger stud. How dense are you?

by Anonymousreply 61December 2, 2016 8:37 PM

@61 Here's a piece of advice. Don't comment on a show you did not watch/get. The ENTIRE point was that the Countess was obsessed with an old lover Valentino, the younger stud was a doppleganger that is all. Donovan was ageless vampire. So aging was never an issue you dud.

by Anonymousreply 62December 2, 2016 8:48 PM

I'm so ready for this. Bomer would be perfect as Louis. He looks younger than his age and he's hot as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 63December 2, 2016 9:11 PM

[quote][R2] - that's my issue with Rice's vampires. They are sensual, but asexual. I see a lot of homoeroticism, but no sex. Same as her books and movies.

Yes her vampires can't have physical sex if I remember correctly; there were a few exceptions, though. Still The Vampire Chronicles is one of the most homosensual book series I've read. When I first read Interview with the Vampire when I was around 20 it was like visiting a fantastical gay fever dream. I yearned to be a vampire, wanted the power they had.

I've read all Chronicle novels and even if they are a bit cheap and trashy I still enjoyed them hugely when I was in my 20s. I did like the latest novel that came out a couple of years ago and even if the hunger was not there anymore I still enjoyed returning to that world.

Matt Bomer is getting a bit old. He's gorgeous and has intensity that certainly works with vampires. Douglas Booth is pretty but at least in Jupiter Ascending he was as exciting as a wet towel.

by Anonymousreply 64December 2, 2016 9:19 PM

Isn't there a huge sex scene in 'The Tale of The Body Thief' between Lestat and David Talbot?

If you like vampire sex scenes read The Vampires Series by Michael Schiefelbein, Begins with The Crucifixion, moves to Rome and continues to present day - very hot sex scenes with a vampire

R65: Lestat's spirit was in a living human body. So it was Lestat's spirit, but not his body. Lame. I hated that story. I want Lestat and Louis having sex in their own bodies, but having marble bodies that can't get an erection and all ruins that fantasy.

by Anonymousreply 66December 2, 2016 11:04 PM

R65: Thanks for the suggestion. Is True Blood any good? They have sex right? Any homo sex?

by Anonymousreply 67December 2, 2016 11:06 PM

You couldn't have Douglas Booth as Lestat and Bomer as Louis - Louis is supposed to be more naïve and much younger in terms of vampire years and experience. Better to reverse them or get someone older than Booth for Louis.

Harry Styles would make a great Louis - he looks edible when his hair is long. Those big green eyes.

by Anonymousreply 68December 2, 2016 11:11 PM

i thought about Harry Styles but haven't seen him act yet ? So I suggested Maximilian Befort, Harry could be an option? Bomer as Louis would need a 40 year old Lestat which would need a 35 year old Armand (same as the film) It doesn't work!

And fucks up the Lestat and Armand back story. Is Anne Rice re-witting all of the novels?

by Anonymousreply 69December 2, 2016 11:35 PM

I like the Max Befort idea better than anyone else mentioned so far, R69.

by Anonymousreply 70December 2, 2016 11:37 PM

R69: It is not that difficult. Just make everyone older... Done. They did it before and can do it again.

by Anonymousreply 71December 2, 2016 11:38 PM

It's a bore darling. I'm outta here.

by Anonymousreply 72December 2, 2016 11:38 PM

They are asexual but highly sensual. This is making me curious to read the book. That is a fascinating idea. Their orgasm comes from drinking the prey's blood not by coitus. This could be so fucking awesome. Hope Matt says yes to this.

by Anonymousreply 73December 3, 2016 12:00 AM

Love this thread!

Just bought the PLat Realms of Atlantis Tuesday; we'll see how it is. Prince Lestat was pretty good, though the whole idea of constantly powering Lestat up is getting a little old. I love the introduction of all of the new (old) characters though. The twins were wasted like a motherfucker though, kind of a letdown after their amazing backstory in QotD.

As far, as the TV show, I'm not quite a fan of the idea in general. Vampires are played out, especially vampires on TV, especially sexy Vampires on TV. And there's no mystery, as we know the plot. It's going to only get one season, I'm afraid, if it's even picked up.

OTOH, I am 100% behind Douglas Booth playing anything. R52, I'm pretty sure he is gay, as he hasn't been romantically linked to any women. Ever. Even is IG likes are incredibly asexual, no ends double taps of swimsuit models like mot hetero guys I know. No half naked muscle twinks either though, I guess.

Matt Bomer does look extremely young, so that's promising and his name might be needed to even make a pilot. I'm ambivalent.

by Anonymousreply 76December 3, 2016 12:21 AM

Harry Styles? Douglas Booth? Are 12year old girls taking over this thread lol? Anne Rice is looking for actors not your personal crushes. Also some of you here might be better of watching a vampire porn video.

by Anonymousreply 77December 3, 2016 12:24 AM

Harry Styles? this is for grown ups, the kids already have Twilight. Give us mature actors. Bomer is perfect as Louis and maybe Lee Pace as Lestat.

by Anonymousreply 78December 3, 2016 12:45 AM

So, let's again cast people in their late 30s to play people perpetually stuck in their 20s? That's difficult to support.

by Anonymousreply 79December 3, 2016 12:49 AM

@79 Anne Rice wants Bomer and she's writing the pilot, she will probably make the characters older.

by Anonymousreply 80December 3, 2016 12:52 AM

Harry Styles? Jesus fucking Christ... NO.

by Anonymousreply 81December 3, 2016 12:53 AM

The real age of actors almost never matches that of the characters. That's why movies are called make believe. Anyone can be made to look older of younger with makeup, acting, writing. The maturity level on this thread is that of 10year olds.

by Anonymousreply 82December 3, 2016 1:18 AM

R82 = George Lucas

by Anonymousreply 83December 3, 2016 1:21 AM

If you've read any of the later Lestat novels, he does actually have sex with women. He pleasures them and drinks their menstrual blood. Gross, I know. Rice's later novels just got more and more insane. I can't even remember which one the Vampire Chronicles is. Is it the one where Lestat becomes a rockstar?

by Anonymousreply 84December 3, 2016 1:25 AM

Ew R84! We are interested in the male vampires pleasuring each other.

by Anonymousreply 85December 3, 2016 1:29 AM

That never happens in any of the books, R85.

by Anonymousreply 86December 3, 2016 1:31 AM

I know R86, but that is where the interest lies.

by Anonymousreply 87December 3, 2016 1:35 AM

Your interest, nobody else's and certainly not Rice's. She was all about a little gay frisson between Louis and Lestat, but in later books Lestat becomes a rabid heterosexual and even swaps bodies with a human so he can experience sex. He has sex with women, needless to say.

by Anonymousreply 88December 3, 2016 1:38 AM

R88: Hey Miss, you're on a GAY site. The men here want to see Bomer or whoever else with a man - not fish. Piss off!

by Anonymousreply 89December 3, 2016 1:41 AM

R88, anyone saying The Vampire Chronicles (a book series btw, not a single novel like you thought) isn't more gay than straight is out his mind. Or hers. You seem to be trying to make people dislike Anne Rice. Yes Lestat is bisexual, I honestly don't ever remember him being completely gay.

BTW, R84/R86/R88 has about a hundred posts in a Larry thread. Are you female?

by Anonymousreply 90December 3, 2016 1:46 AM

San Heughan would be a great Lestat.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 91December 3, 2016 1:50 AM

So which book in the Chronicles has Lestat as bisexual, considering most of the time he isn't sexual at all and is just interested in blood? Very many of the VC books don't even feature Lestat or have him in a subsidiary role to another bizarre creation.

Do share your expertise, stalker troll @R90.

by Anonymousreply 92December 3, 2016 1:50 AM

Lestat and Louis literally kiss in every novel, and exchanged for the hundredth time "I love you's" at the end of Prince Lestat, maybe Louis responded with something more along the lines of "my heart is yours...". At any rate, it's def not platonic. Lestat ain't hetero.

He's been banging women, but he'll always come home to sullen Louis. I guess he may physically connect with women, as was the norm for that time. But he almost sees them as play things and has a far deeper emotional relationship with men. He's not even really THAT close to Gabrielle, TBH.

by Anonymousreply 93December 3, 2016 1:51 AM

Plus Lestat was sharing a bed with Nicky when they first went to Paris, and was infatuated with Armand, who used to get his blood/dick sucked by Marius lol

by Anonymousreply 94December 3, 2016 1:53 AM

Preach R93/R94!

by Anonymousreply 95December 3, 2016 1:54 AM

R92, why is it so important to you that Lestat isn't totally gay? You sound like a female shipper who can't stand her crushes liking women. And 'stalker troll'... lol. If you post dozens of Larry posts don't be surprised if you get called out on them in another thread where you seem to have some weird anti-Anne Rice agenda. She never had to make her vampires gay or bi, but she did.

by Anonymousreply 96December 3, 2016 1:57 AM

Hello, Ms Rice! I just want you to know that I played the lead in the Kirbyville Playhouse re-imagining of the movie, "Yentl." That's practically in Branson, MO! The Hollister Journal said I was convincingly manly.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 97December 3, 2016 1:57 AM

Okay, so in the Tale of the Body Thief (the fourth book in The Vampire Chronicles) Lestat actually gets the chance to have sex when he swaps bodies with a human. He has sex with a girl, Gretchen. That's the only sex he has in The Vampire Chronicles. I rest my case.

You are welcome to try and find an incident where he has sex as a human with a human man. I'll wait.

(extract from Wiki: Lestat nearly dies after becoming human again—his new body is wracked by pneumonia, which he ignores during a tour of Washington D.C. in the middle of winter. He is saved by the care of a nun named Gretchen. He enjoys a short love affair with Gretchen before she returns to South America, where she works in a convent, and Lestat sets out in search of his body.)

by Anonymousreply 98December 3, 2016 2:05 AM

R98, anyone claiming that Lestat is totally straight is an idiot. He's bisexual and like I said that has been the case from the start. It's possible he was straight before becoming a vampire but I don't remember his origin story. Why does it matter to you so much that he is not totally gay? It's the world Anne Rice created and you just have to accept it the way it is.

by Anonymousreply 99December 3, 2016 2:16 AM

how did we get from Lousi to Lestat?I thought this thread was about Louis. In the world of Anne Rice books the vampire use sex as a means to an end, to get the victims. It makes sense that they don't discriminate when it comes to sexuality. Louis is hetero before getting turned. He becomes more like Lestat after, using sexuality in any way possible.

by Anonymousreply 100December 3, 2016 2:22 AM

That happens once in the books, R86.

Can't remember which book but he does that exact thing. I thought it was gross as hell.

GAWD DAMN! I cannot think of ANYTHING more played OUT than Vampire ANYTHING at this point!

The themes are so simplistic, and done to death! Can't anyone think up something original other than going back to this trope again, and again endlessly! If you've ever read "Bram Stoker's Dracula" you know how groundbreaking and satisfying a read it is, so nothing derived from it stands a chance really. The writing is that vivid and exciting.

What would be the time frame before Anne Rice will be ready to produce her show? Is it possible that Bomer could do it after he finishes a season of The Last Tycoon? That's supposed to start filming in Jan to be shown starting in June.

by Anonymousreply 111December 3, 2016 12:16 PM

Doesn't Anne Rice have some books about witches that also feature the vampires? That might add a different aspect.

by Anonymousreply 112December 3, 2016 12:19 PM

There are 12 Vampire Chronicle books and some of them are obscure and really badly written. The best ones are those at the start of the series, the first that's already a film, then The Vampire Lestat, in which he becomes a rock star and The Queen of the Damned in which he drinks the blood of an ancient female vampire in a sexual rite and grows mega powerful.

by Anonymousreply 113December 3, 2016 7:00 PM

"She keeps a portrait of him in her home."

Now we know who's responsible for all the Bomer threads here! Hi, Ann!

by Anonymousreply 117December 3, 2016 11:28 PM

Why not, R115?

I thought The Witching Hour was an amazing book.

Epic in its scope and the way she traces the Mayfaif family back for generations? It's awesome.

It does get freaky and weird when they start birthing those bizarre creatures in subsequent books, but, you know, whatever.

Or is it because of the incest? 😝😝

by Anonymousreply 118December 3, 2016 11:47 PM

I really liked The Witching Hour too. I devour books and needed something for a nine hour flight and that one was perfect - epic, as you say.

I liked the idea of re-reading it, but it's not on Kindle for some reason and I gave the original away. I read Lasher and Taltos too - they were bizarre, but oddly compelling. I don't know how millennials would cope with 13 year old Mona having sex and then giving birth to a taltos three months later. Maybe that's why they're e-books.

by Anonymousreply 119December 4, 2016 11:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 120December 5, 2016 3:57 PM

Whatever happened to his playing Montgomery Clift in a bio-pic? Is that still a thing?

by Anonymousreply 121December 5, 2016 4:02 PM

R119 The Witching Hour has no real gay content (that I recall) but is a good thriller (especially when the immortal vampire soap opera got tiresome).

They guy at HBO who optioned it was fired so its presumedly dead. Lombardo was really big (too big perhaps) on gay content and I don't think his successor is.

Wasn't Bomer supposed to be a transvestite in a Ruffalo film? Was that scratched also?

by Anonymousreply 124December 5, 2016 4:28 PM

The Transbomer has already been discussed enough on DL

Monty Clift is not happening? what a bummer.

by Anonymousreply 126December 5, 2016 7:25 PM

She is too old to play Monty anyway.

From IGN, an interview with a mega producer Alex Kurtzman who was set to produce a film version at Universal:

Author Anne Rice recently revealed she has regained the screen rights to her Vampire Chronicles book series, a film adaptation of which had been in development at Universal Pictures with Alex Kurtzman producing. (Rice's Lestat tales Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned were previously brought to the big screen.)

In making the announcement on her Facebook page, Rice said she wishes to see The Vampire Chronicles adapted as a TV series instead to allow for a "Game of Thrones style faithful rendering." I recently had the chance to interview Kurtzman and asked him about Rice's revelation and whether he was still involved.

"We're still in conversation with her. Josh Boone wrote a wonderful, wonderful script and we're just talking about what universe feels best for it. Features, television," said Kurtzman.

He continued, "Here's really the only question. How do we stay authentically true to Anne's work? That's the only question. What format is the one that's going to allow for her to do that in the right way. How do we tell the stories in the way that Anne needs them to be told? That's all any of us care about."

After The Body Thief, the Chronicles become increasingly bizarre, obscure and unengaging. Too many new characters which aren't properly developed.

Lestat in human form impregnated two women and had children, who appear in Chonicle 11, Prince Lestat.

[bold]Bryan Fuller & Anne Rice Team Up For Vampire Chronicles TV Show[/bold]

[quote]You landed Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. What's the long-term goal for that property?

[quote]We bought 11 novels as part of the Vampire Chronicles initiative. Bryan Fuller is working with Anne Rice and [her son] Chris, who are writing the pilot. We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun.

R131, that's certainly the best news one could hear about The Vampire Chronicles. Fuller is on another level. At least we'll get a great a pilot even if he won't continue as a showrunner.

I always found his Hannibal to have too much style over substance but I adored American Gods so I know he'll do a great job.

[bold]Quick Update on THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES TV Series; Pilot Is Written But Fuller Is Out[/bold]

[quote]First off, we learned from Anne herself that Hannibal and American Gods exec producer/writer Bryan Fuller is no longer involved with the project as he “chose to move on” this past February.

This is my shocked face.

I read and liked the first three books. Suffered through Tale of the Body Thief. I couldn't finish Memnoch the Devil. Then never went back.

I like hte first two books in the Mayfair Witches. The third book I finished and just didn't like. Never went back.

I like the Feasts of All Saints. I have no idea how true it was.

I think what finally closed the door for me on Anne Rice was that book she wrote about the early life of Jesus.

I threw her first book across the room after 50-60 pages. Never bothered with the rest. It was the first Tom Cruise movie I didn't see.

Rutger Hauer was the inspiration for Lestat.

It’s fun to go back in this thread and read my posts from years ago. I hope this show works out, but it really, REALLY isn’t needed right now.

[bold]Anne Rice's 'Vampire Chronicles' Lands at Hulu[/bold]

[quote]In a competitive situation with multiple outlets pursuing the drama, Hulu has landed Vampire Chronicles. The streamer, home to Emmy darling The Handmaid's Tale, has put the drama in development.

[quote]Bryan Fuller, who boarded the Paramount Television and Anonymous Content drama as showrunner in January, exited the project six months ago. Fuller opted to step back from the project rather than step on the toes of longtime friends Anne Rice and her son, Christopher Rice, who penned the original script. A search for Fuller's replacement is underway.

Interesting

by Anonymousreply 140July 19, 2018 1:59 AM

It hinges on the casting of Lestat and Louis.

by Anonymousreply 141July 19, 2018 11:18 PM

There’s a group of Versailles fans that want Alex Vlahos and Evan Williams to be cast.

by Anonymousreply 142July 20, 2018 1:39 AM

Sam Heughan would be great as Lestat.
