It's hardly "never-ending" or "persistent" seeing as most people had forgotten about him for the last 10 years or so. It was like an open secret that he's gay when he was famous the first time round. His publicized romances always seemed to be of a contractual nature. Who cares these days, though? If he wants to carry on as before, good for him.

R4, the song grows on you. I'm not into modern R'n'B practically at all and I remember disliking the song when it came out. At some point I realized I totally love it. There's something special about the lyrics and in the way he sings. Obviously that's just how I feel.

It's not going to grow on me, R7. I can't stand the sound of autotuning. I think it's one of those things that bothers some people and not others, kind of like handheld camera work. I can watch that all day long, but I have a friend who has to walk out of the theatre, it makes him so nauseated.

R12, he was awarded twice for a Grammy. But yes he's never been big in the US. However, people at the gay pinup forums generally know who he is since at some point he went into bodybuilding and paps loved it.

I think he relocated to South Florida. He's been seen around Miami for years. No clue about his sexual preferences. Who really cares. His first CD nad stuff with artful dodger was great. The second CD slowed his career in the US down to a slow crawl.

His career slowed down to a crawl in the UK at the same time. There was a popular comedy show on TV here at the time called "Bo Selecta" where the host would do surreal sketches as various celebrities but with huge rubber faces. He did one as Craig with a rubber bird on his shoulder who he called "Kes". It was ridiculous but it became a meme at the time and seemed to be the final nail in David's career. It seemed at that time as if he just withdrew from the spotlight but he may have been plugging away all this time, for all I know.

A friend of mine worked in his record company in the early 00s. Out of nowhere, she told me that his record label were "bricking it" (fearful) that he would be outed. I sincerely doubt she decided to make that up, especially as I never asked her about who was gay etc.

If he were 35, that would mean he was 14 years old at the time of his first hit. Which he wasn't. Wikipedia shows him as born in May of 1981, which makes him 39. I remember a LOT of buzz about him around '99-'00. He was supposed to be the Next Big Thing. Then I heard his music, and I was like "meh". It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Haven't given him a second thought in 20 years, but good for him on still doing his thing, and having a banging body.
