Let's Post Pictures of Handsome, Stylish Older Men
I want DLers to be inspired by these images. Middle age is no reason to give up the game completely.
I follow several style blogs and see these images of beautiful, mature men and marvel at them. Why not take a chance and make a visual impact? You don't have to be 22 or a model to do so.
This isn't really a porn or Daddy thread. Let's just celebrate gorgeous men.

What are some of the specific things that happen top aging men that start to make them look unattractive?
Is it the graying, the wrinkles, the thinning lips or the softening jawlines? Is there any feature of aging that if it were addressed would counteract some of the others'?
In my opinion, the signs of aging that are THE most detrimental to a man's looks(at least facially) is thinning hair, a waddle neck, jowly jawline and disappearing lips. Of course, extreme weight gain or loss is also very detrimental but those are not necessarily signs of aging. Also, stopping a weight training routine as one gets older can lead to a general look of frailness as muscle mass is slowly lost.
However, if the softening jawlines and turkey necks were surgically tightened and the lips given just a LITTLE filler I think men could get away with drooping eyelids, gray hair and weathered skin and still look ok. Of course, hair transplantation for some would help but if one is lucky enough to have a good head of hair the aforementioned procedures could be transformative. That being said men should NEVER have facelifts. They're very feminizing.
Gen. Wesley Clark is a good example of an older man who looked quite handsome and even fuckable up into his 60s....he and Peter Gruber are roughly the same age but look at what a difference. And a lot of that has to do with his tight, sharp jawline.

Yeah, but if he had his jowls tightened, his turkey waddle removed and his lips plumped a bit(you know, just to the point of having some lips again), it would some time off.
The man has no lips and Just restoring some volume would make a WORLD of difference.

Thread request: photos of well dressed men with less-than-ideal body types (overweight, large/tall, short, pics of muscular body builder types in formal wear that doesn't make them look cartoonish, etc).
Also, I'm liking this thread (Kevin Stewart at r85 is my favorite so far) but it would be useful if we could come to a consensus about what qualifies as an older man. 55+? 60+? Personally I don't think anyone under 55 should be included. The definition of middleaged keeps shifting as people live longer and age better than in past generations but in my opinion middleaged is roughly 38-54, "older men" are 55+ and seniors are 65+.

Anyway, I enjoy threads like these. Speaking as a 55 year old and only for myself, these type of threads keep me on my toes! Common to all these stylish gents: slim and preferably toned bodies and attention to grooming (essential). Also great hair (including beards) and the selection of accessories (eye glasses, document envelopes). I guess that's why fall looks work so well -- the coats, scarves, hats, etc.
Pitfalls to watch out for: going for too young (skinny pants, fashion tennis shoes -- oops, just dated myself), and looking too put together. Knowing where to draw the line separates the stylish from the ridiculous. Very tricky and very subjective: one man's just right is another man's fashion victim.
Going back to the gym tomorrow.

Skinny pants look great on handsome older guys with nice slim bodies as seen in various photos here. There's a difference between trying to look young and looking contemporary. The silhouette of clothing changes over the years. This is a moment for slim clothing and older guys can follow fashion trends too.

I don't think they have to slim and toned, r197. For me, what I've noticed is that men who embrace their greying hair come off far sexier than those who opt for dye. Compare and contrast these two beefy lads.

It is nothing more than a series of old men with money.

And just think how much better these clothes would look on young men.
It reminds me of middle aged men who can finally afford a great sport car convertible.

Why should the party be winding down?
As for the price of clothing. Any of these looks can be matched with less expensive brands.

[quote]This is the most depressing thread ever. It is nothing more than a series of old men with money.
First of all, what's wrong with being an old man with money? As for the price of the clothing, most of these looks can be matched with less expensive copies or similarities. Have you ever been to "Old navy"? Also, you would be very surprised by what you can find in thrift shops. What I see in this thread is style and attitude. I don't care how expensive an item is, if you don't have the attitude and confidence to carry it off then you look foolish.
I recall two of my best purchases ever was when I randomly walked into a thrift shop and found a BRAND NEW David Chu, (founder of Nautica and Bespoke clothing), suit and BRAND NEW sport jacket. Now, a David Chu suit usually retails for $1000, and his sport jackets aren't too far from that. Anyway, I bought the suit for less than $200 and the jacket for $75. I learned too that there were very good reasons why his clothing retailed so high! The quality material and workmanship are REALLY superior. For whatever reasons, these items ended up in a thrift shop. I just took them to my tailor, (he was the one who really explained to me the quality of the garments), and not much alteration was needed. I feel like a billionaire anytime I wear that suit or sport coat!

MAN! What a sucky outlook on life that you have, R212. Look... life isn't over after 30. I recall when R160, (Irvin Randle), made a splash about 2-3 months ago. He simply floored the fashion mags, etc. He received overwhelming positive press. I believe the hashtag #stealyourgrandma trended for some time. BUT, the bit of negative press that he received was much like your comment. Of course, the obvious; "He's gay" and then the "Dress your age" etc. Those comments basically came from people who had let themselves go and/or were unhappy with their own life, AND they were usually from people much younger too. But, make no mistake... that man inspired A LOT of people to begin to take better care of themselves.
And Irvin... he's a grade school teacher, father, grandfather, who always had a dream to be a fashion model.... Interesting... even at 55 you can still dream, set goals, make them happen, and enjoy life. Better yet, get paid!!!

[quote]This is the most depressing thread ever.
Depressing for you, r212? Upset that men of a certain age become more attractive than they were in their twenties while the opposite is true for you? And, yes. The clothes are expensive but I disagree that they would look better on younger men. Most of these, especially the more elegant numbers, would most definitely not suit younger guys and might risk coming off a bit costumy.
As for me personally, I haven't been attracted to someone in their twenties since I was 29, and by the response these men are getting on social media and sites like Buzzfeed, I'm certainly not alone.

R198 - No, old guys look hideous in skinny jeans. You are deluding yourself by thinking you look hot trying to emphasize parts of your body that no one wants to be exposed too. Your saggy old ass should not be put on display, even if you think you are 63 but look 35. Jeans of any type should not be worn by people over 40. This is the time you should be checking out the Dockers store/website.

A word of caution...be careful not to use the same criteria for 'good looks' for these men as you use for younger men. Younger men, you may want to see in a bathing suit or nothing...these guys you want to sit across from during diner and regardless of thinning lips etc. will look forward to sharing a bed with later.

I guess you haven't been looking at some of these images. Many of these guys are hot! They're in shape, dress well, and making it happen. All of them seem to be attracting the younger man too. It's a bit disappointing about Irvin Randle. The disappointment is not with him being gay, (or whatever he calls himself), but apparently he lies...and a lot. His real age is 56. What's wrong with 56 when you look as good as he does. I think he's now blown what modeling career he ever had.
