Is my fear irrational?
due to personal experience, I am weary of folks with Aspergers /autistics
by Anonymous | reply 207 | June 12, 2018 6:49 PM |
I don't know, how tired are you?
Weary/wary, OP, words have meaning.
Personally, I am weary of them but not wary of them - they bore me.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 3, 2016 11:48 PM |
Some of them can be vicious if you're a really sensitive person. I have a straight friend who was in love with this girl with Asperger and she put him through psychological and emotional hell. If he were stronger and not as sensitive as he is he probably would have walked away. It sounds like she basically didn't have normal feelings.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 3, 2016 11:55 PM |
Yes, OP. Your fear is irrational.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 3, 2016 11:57 PM |
There's a guy in my apartment block who claims to have Aspergers, but the way he manipulates people and lashes out whilst simultaneously playing the victim, he seems like a better match for Borderline Personality Disorder. He fell out with two of his neighbours and went around telling everyone they were paedophiles so they had to move out.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 4, 2016 12:03 AM |
That's the third Asperger nut I've heard about who accused perfectly innocent people of being pedophiles. What the fuck is up with that?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 4, 2016 12:13 AM |
I just had a big fight with him on the internet and he didn't know it was me. He said he was going to call the police on me, he said he was a secret hacker for the government, and his "daughter" is a lawyer when the guy is gayer than a tree full of parrots in reality. I know he's full of shit but when you know what he's capable of in real life, he's terrifying.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 4, 2016 12:22 AM |
He said he was going to the local press about me too. I don't know why he wouldn't take it national. There's probably a TV movie in there somewhere "News Site Commenter Makes Mean Comments Which Aren't Really That Mean."
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 4, 2016 12:27 AM |
OP, you sound touched yourself. or at least a tad illiterate. are you weary? or are you fearful? they are different concepts
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 4, 2016 12:54 AM |
Maybe he's both wary and leary and made a portmanteau.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 4, 2016 12:56 AM |
I know the autism spectrum is a huge umbrella term but I thought one of the few across the board aspects of autism is that people who have it are incapable of lying. Someone who's manipulative and making serious false accusations of pedophilia does sound completely like borderline personality disorder. Borderlines are vicious, vindictive pathological liars.
In a lot of cases, parents will get their mentally disturbed kids to be falsely diagnosed with autism because the diagnosis now carries so much public aide in the form of medical care and school services that if your kid has something less definable or less common they may miss out unless you just call them autistic. So maybe that's what happened with your hostile psycho neighbor, OP.
Real aspies and autistics may be emotionally illiterate and disconnected but they're completely honest and unassuming as children (though blunt) if you ask them questions.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 4, 2016 1:03 AM |
r7 Just for some context, it was an article about a local post office closing, he said something about Conservatives being terrible, one commenter called him a lefty and another said he didn't understand politics. Then he said he had Aspergers and was a vulnerable adult and what they said was hate speech and was calling the police. I said they'd said the same type of thing they'd say to any commenter and surely hate speech would involve ablist slurs and he completely flipped out at me.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 4, 2016 1:04 AM |
r10 I have a borderline ex and my neighbour seems SO borderline. He's estranged from his parents although he likes to tell everyone his dad's a millionaire. He's changed his name to a ridiculous fake one. His first name is Tahira and I'd better not say his surname in case he googles himself but he's the only person in the whole of the UK with that surname and it's taken from a Star Wars character.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 4, 2016 1:08 AM |
Yeah I've never heard of someone with autism renaming themselves, r12. If anything ppl on the autism spectrum feel uncomfortable unless they have a very structured, predictable daily routine. They don't go making up creative names for themselves or spinning grandiose tales of millionaire relatives.
BPD all the way.
At link is an article from a few years ago written by a man who has three sons on the spectrum. It's a heartbreaking article but I think it gives a good picture of what real autism is like.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 4, 2016 1:14 AM |
I will never give an Aspie the time of day again. They are sinister. They have no conscience. No emotion
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 4, 2016 1:24 AM |
r12 I forgot, he says he was the first lead singer of 911 (a shitty boy band) too although their Wikipedia article doesn't mention him and he doesn't look like he was ever good-looking.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 4, 2016 1:32 AM |
I don't believe Aspies are without a conscience, r14, they're just very bad at picking up on nonverbal social cues. It's like rather than talk to them like you would a normal person, you'd be better off thinking of it as if you were text messaging them out loud, complete with descriptions of emojis to indicate "I am happy" or "I think that's funny" or "what you just said about X makes me feel angry because Y." Almost like you're typing direct commands into a computer: things like sarcasm and dropping hints just go completely over an Aspie's head. But they do have feelings and most of them, from what I've read, are not at all malicious or dangerous. By contrast, real sociopaths (people who have no conscience) are much more likely to be extremely charming and charismatic, because they're not inhibited by self-doubt or concern for other people's opinions of them as the rest of us are. They'll look you in the eyes and smile sweetly and lie without hesitation.
I suppose it's entirely possible that about 4% of people on the Spectrum are both autistic and sociopathic,, but that's just because sociopaths make up 4% of the overall population.

do you tarry?
do you fret and moan?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 4, 2016 1:39 AM |
I've come to the conclusion over the years that anyone who comments on any website should be required by law to disclose whether they're autistic or not, and sites should also be required to offer a filter so that they can be filtered out.

I am consistently astonished by the degree of hatred of people identified by DL posters towards people they have identified as somewhere on the ASD. ASD is a recognized neurological, cognitive impairment, not a moral flaw, any more than cancer (unless you are Rosie) or a heart murmur are willfully "chosen." YOu may not like the ASD people you encounter and prefer to limit interaction with them--though that may be your loss in some cases (I've known some pretty great peopl who have an ASD diagnosis and live consciously within it)--but it seems to me reflect more on the hater. Do you also despise blind people and amputees?
ANd, no, I do not identify as autistic, though. I suspect we. All have some of the traits--albeit usually in invisible or mild form--associated with it. And, I think the jury is still out on the question of "lying."At most, the people on the AS may be evasive when trying not to speak their actual thoughts. It is not a moral virtue, per se, but a social skill they find hard to perform.

I cleared two Aspies gay guys from my life this year. Both have the habit of saying things that are cruel and totally inappropriate. Amusingly, I heard second hand that they both chose to paint themselves into the victims with mutual friends after I told them I could no longer tolerate their uncensored cruelty and lack of empathy. I think aspies are borderline sociopathic. If I pick up on the signs now in someone, I steer clear. They are toxic. I mean, both of these guys literally things to me early on that were giveaways, beside the usual cues. Things like "I never feel hurt or upset." Or "I have never cried in my life." And "I just feel black on the inside." when people stay stuff like this to you RUN FOR THE FUCKING HILLS -- don't just settle for the entertainment value of an Aspies.

r44 He also had a disagreement with the landlords and went in their office and started cutting himself in front of them. There was an injunction on him for years saying he couldn't be in a room with them or any of their employees. They've never managed to evict him. They're gross and should be avoided wherever possible. There are many of them in the Tech industry but if the boss knows what's what he'll provide them with isolation cubicles so they can continue their shut in lifestyle at work and not bother others.
The worst thing is an Aspie who wants to integrate - just say no.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 4, 2016 11:55 PM |
Female Aspies are even more dangerous given they get away with more.

R55, the isolated cubicle is the final step before termination.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 4, 2016 11:56 PM |
No, R55, enlightened Tech bosses know the Aspies work best like this. If you put them in an open plan setting they go batshit crazy as they can't cope with the phones, the chat and the sound of other people typing, or - God forbid - someone approaching them for an unscheduled conversation.
The worst thing is when an Aspie accepts an invitation for an after work drink and has alcohol to fit in, even though they're not used to it. They will then launch into a manic monologue and it will be impossible for you to escape. The solution is not to invite them.

I was defending ppl with ASD earlier on this thread but I just realized that one of my former coworkers was probably an Aspie. She was possibly the worst person I've ever met. Kind of a toss up between her and another coworker (at the same place) who was a heroin addict with Borderline personality disorder.
Anyway the suspected-Aspie was very antisocial and often openly hostile, didn't make eye contact, laughed or mocked people in completely inappropriate situations, interjected or interrupted other people's private conversations, would literally talk over you or walk out of the room if she wasn't interested in what you were saying, she had OCD, and would tell you the same dumb stories about her boring home life and the health ailments of her rescued cats over and over and over even if you told her you'd already heard that story. She had insomnia and took some meds but at the time I couldn't think of any one condition that would explain her awfulness, so I concluded that she was just inbred (she was a 17th generation descendant in a fairly geographically isolated area that originally only had 35 founding families=lots of cousins intermarrying over the last 3+ centuries). Now I think she must have been a total Aspie. And now I'm starting to hate Aspies too because yeah...she was the WORST!

He says people with Asperger's should be aborted, that they're evil, that they have no conscience, etc. He's letting fly with a lot of hatred and bigotry and he does it because he thinks he can get away with it. If he were saying the same thing about blacks, hispanics, Jews, the Webmaster would ban him. The Webmaster should ban him anyway. He's a sick fuck. A sad, sick fuck.

Despite having Aspergers, Michael Burry realized that a number of subprime home loans were in danger of defaulting. He bet against the housing market by throwing more than $1 billion of his investors' money into credit default swaps. Having spotted the trouble that led to the financial crisis, Burry profited accordingly and reaped a fortune becoming part of the 1%. with what virtually nobody had understood for years . From 2000 through the crash of 2008, Burry earned his Scion investors 489.34% in returns and walked away with 100 million for himself.

OP makes me weary of neurotypicals, and with good reason. They project their own shortcomings onto the differently abled and everyone else not like them. They start all the wars, they destroy the environment, they commit most of the crimes and built a legal system around a bigoted double standard of behavior to let themselves off the hook for the things they do to the so-called "other" while punishing them for fighting back. They're like the school bully who grabs your arm and hits you with it with one hand, then steals your lunch money with the other.

I broke off a 5+ year friendship with an Aspie because I just couldn't take it anymore. I think he was a good person at heart, but it was extremely frustrating having a conversation with him.
Everything was taken so literally. Sarcasm and metaphor were completely out. Idioms were particularly difficult too. If you said something like, "be careful what you say or you'll be eating crow soon," he would respond, "why would I eat a crow?"
He wasn't emotionless though. There were feelings and sincerity, but it's like his mind couldn't handle anything that wasn't 100% straightforward.
He hated lying and could be very cruel in his quest to always tell the truth.
He saw a therapist, but often didn't follow her advice. He wasn't supposed to drink alcohol, but did nonetheless.

by Anonymous | reply 116 | October 10, 2016 12:18 AM |
Neurotypical seems to be a pretty easy to understand term. Why would it trigger someone? What else can you call people with no neurological abnormalities?
by Anonymous | reply 117 | October 10, 2016 12:58 AM |
R117, I don't know if you are an Aspie or not, but I am happy you admit that autistic is significantly abnormal. My only joy is that more and more of society is seeing that they get away with a lot using the excuse of autism. Most people's experience with Aspergers is less than auspicious.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | October 10, 2016 1:18 AM |
R115, gives credence that autistic parents are either autistic or as many believe are narcissistic, no empathy parents.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | October 10, 2016 1:20 AM |
Please don't feed the demented Aspie troll. This fuck is insane. I think his father sodomized him repeatedly as a child. That could well account for his mental retardation and social maladjustment.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | October 10, 2016 1:29 AM |
R117, neurotypical triggers not because it's difficult to understand, but because it sounds like PC bullshit. How about the word normal?
by Anonymous | reply 121 | October 10, 2016 3:32 AM |
The word "normal" is not specific enough. If someone does not have autism but is nearsighted or has diabetes, he would not qualify as "normal."
by Anonymous | reply 122 | October 10, 2016 4:05 AM |
Nearsighted? Diabetes? These never come up when discussing autism or "neurotypical" people.
Neurotypical is only used when contrasting an Aspie with a normal person. It's clear normal refers "not on the spectrum."
by Anonymous | reply 123 | October 10, 2016 4:13 AM |
That website at r45 was eye opening. I recently ended a 3 year relationship that fits the majority of the patterns described in those testimonials. IT guy, repeats boring stories again and again, "I don't know what love is", "I don't lie and I'm very direct", same sexual routine, hates his parents, socially awkward with my friends who described him as "cold".
I adjusted to him immensely. I tried to give him the tools to make the relationship work by telling him what I needed from him but "when someone tells me to do something, it makes me want to do the opposite".
I will miss the conversations and the perhaps misguided notion that he was freer and more expressive when with me. In the end, it was the repetitiveness and lack of "I love you" that did me in.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | October 10, 2016 7:47 AM |
R124, yes, they are pretty sinister. Happy you got out. Aspies are very un likable
by Anonymous | reply 125 | October 10, 2016 5:46 PM |
R14 and R124 I totally agree. Utterly soulless and sinister. I was hurt very badly by a (mildly) AS guy I considered a close friend -- manipulative, self-obsessed, narcissistic liar convinced he was the sexiest thing alive (as he walked around all winter with massive sheets of eczema peeling from his face and would go days without brushing his teeth); all-around self-serving piece of shit the likes of which I've never encountered before. At least the Borderline I dealt with had a conscience and a shred of humanity buried underneath the insanity. Never again.

by Anonymous | reply 129 | October 11, 2016 8:02 AM |
I know a soulless aspie in LA who uses and abuses older gay men to secure access to homes in Palm Springs and launch businesses, including a toothpaste line. He literally has no conscience. The problem is: the people he usually uses are also on the spectrum so there's a weird understanding between the two dead-souled individuals.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | October 11, 2016 8:19 AM |
R123 I was responding to the idiot who was "triggered" by the word neurotypicall and advocated use of the word "normal". The whole point is that diabetes and nearsightedness and diabetes do not come in connection to autism. But someone with those afflictions could not be accurately described as "normal" even if they are nuerotypical.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | October 11, 2016 11:37 AM |
What is up with Aspies and skin issues? I know two who have an unsightly rash all over. Is it their behavior that brings it out?

by Anonymous | reply 134 | October 11, 2016 5:42 PM |
As you've inundated this thread with no less than 53 posts, it is you who are the "boring, insufferable" Aspergers Troll, r134.
You're obviously suffering from the very mental illness you continue to malign or you're obsessed for some reason by Aspergers.
Which ever is the case, you really need help, Toots.

by Anonymous | reply 146 | October 18, 2016 5:06 PM |
No, you fuck off, R146, you rotten stinking neurotypical piece of shit. You're the ones causing all the problems. Did it ever occur to you that every time you get shit from an aspie, it's because you did something to provoke it? You can only mistreat a person so much before throwing back that treatment at you in retaliation becomes justified, and this whole thread has crossed that line. Stop projecting your own moral and intellectual shortcomings onto us, you worthless trash.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | October 18, 2016 5:08 PM |
Neurotypicals lie, cheat, steal, murder, rape and destroy other people's property all the time, but somehow it's aspies, who are willing to give others the benefit of the doubt until they betray our trust, who are the problem? I don't think so.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | October 18, 2016 5:10 PM |
Neurotypicals are fucking war criminals. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein: not an aspie in the bunch. And I don't buy the lie that Adam Lanza was autistic. Most people on the spectrum don't have motor skills good enough to shoot as well as he did.

R150 Aspie-on-NT violence is payback for systemic ableism. You started it and we're going to stop it. The oppressor classes will get what is coming to them, and you worthless bigoted NT filth have proved yourself an oppressor. You NTs are fucking monsters. You poison the world with your technofetishes and forcing brown, black and yellow people to serve your lazy white heterosexual gentile asses because you're too fucking lazy to do things for yourself. You're scum. You're lower than scum. Your continued existence on this planet is a threat to all living things on this earth, not just actual human beings. Your words and your deeds are recorded by history and will be used as evidence to convict every last one of you of crimes against humanity and put you to the death you so richly deserve.
Adam Lanza was not autistic, just Italian. The worst ethnicity of the worst race. Besides, anything that reduces the number of NT oppressors is a GOOD thing.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | October 18, 2016 5:22 PM |
[quote]They love to massacre people.
Bullshit. It's NTs that fetishize death and destruction and claim it's "for your own good." That's why they banned the drugs that actually work and replaced them with brain-destroying pills with more side effects than actual cures. They're vile, vicious vermin and they deserve any and all bad things that happen to them.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | October 18, 2016 5:23 PM |
After reading this sickening thread, which is like reading Mein Kampf and the Koran back to back, anyone who takes the life of an NT oppressor is a hero as far as I'm concerned.

R152, 153, brilliant parody . Lmao.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | October 18, 2016 5:26 PM |
Parody, schmarody. I really do hate your fucking guts. Everything you say and do justifies people hating you and a whole lot worse. Do your friends know what a vile, bigoted monster you are and how much you deserve to suffer. I'm tired of the so-called neurotypical brain being called normal just because we don't share your fetish for idiotic and absurd facial gestures over actual words, especially when you use your face to conceal your true intentions: take advantage of others and engage in victim-blaming when you get called out on your shit.
So-called NTs are not normal and deserve to suffer for what they've done to the differently abled, just like racists deserve to suffer for what they've done to people of color, gentiles deserve to suffer for what they've done to the Jews, and heterosexuals deserve to suffer. You are just another oppressor class, and as such you have no rights that survivors of your oppressive words and deeds are bound to respect.
Seriously, just die. I don't care how it happens just as long as it happens and you suffer mightily because of it. Maybe then we can finally have some peace, quiet, respect and civil rights, all of which we have earned and deserved after putting up with your bullshit for practically forever.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | October 18, 2016 5:31 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 172 | October 19, 2016 12:34 AM |
R167 What you say is true. The problem is that they do not have a theory of mind, so it is hard for them to pull off high level manipulation. And their opportunism is obvious, because they do not have the skills to effectively conceal it.
It is like how a paraplegic is just as likely to have violent impulses as the rest of us. But they have less ability to successfully act on those impulses.

Because they get away with a lot of BS. They can and do manipulate to convince normal people who have empathy that Aspies are incapable of any wrong doing etc. And you can NEVER get them to admit to anything unless their ass was seriously on the line. Many naive, gullible people are deceived by Aspies, but only if they have minimal contact. The people who spend the most time with an Aspie, such as workplace, home, partners etc, will tell you how frustrating and insufferable they can be. The best description online I saw was THEY ARE ANNOYING AS SHIT!!
