SAD FINAL DAYS: Cloris Leachman

The Enquirer bestows its SAD FINAL DAYS tag on the star of "Phyllis"...

"Now her shocked friends are terrified that the brave actress is running out of time!"

I'm gonna outlive another one!

by Anonymousreply 2September 16, 2016 9:53 PM

She walked the earth with Christ, how do you expect her to look at her age?

by Anonymousreply 3September 16, 2016 9:54 PM

So sad! Some ovaltine?

Shes 90, very active and still working.....we should all be so lucky.

by Anonymousreply 5September 16, 2016 10:00 PM

In tribute, we should watch Cloris' daring 1970s TV-movie about V.D. in the suburbs. ... SOMEONE I TOUCHED.

I hope when I'm 90 I'm dead!

by Anonymousreply 7September 16, 2016 10:01 PM

Maybe she will be dead before Sunday and will be the last minute addition to the memorial slideshow at the Emmys.

by Anonymousreply 8September 16, 2016 10:03 PM

I hope I'm dead when I'm 90.

by Anonymousreply 9September 16, 2016 10:03 PM

Leggy Cloris in the poolside scene from SOMEONE I TOUCHED.

Little does she know that she'll soon discover her husband brought her a special present -- SYPHILIS.

Call me seriously heartless, but the bitch is 90 ................ sounds like a pretty significant lifetime to me.

by Anonymousreply 11September 16, 2016 10:13 PM

Cloris's film debut.

What so sad? Is she sick? Suffering? She was funny on Raising Hope just a few years ago. Many funny performances over a long career.

by Anonymousreply 13September 16, 2016 10:21 PM

R12 great clip. Boy she was fantastic with that dialogue.

by Anonymousreply 14September 16, 2016 10:21 PM

She's a 90 year old woman with no makeup on. Looks pretty damn good to me.

by Anonymousreply 15September 16, 2016 10:30 PM

Old age, the ultimate faux pas!

by Anonymousreply 16September 16, 2016 10:30 PM

r14 My aunt had that hair style until the day she died. She was probably the same age as Cloris.

by Anonymousreply 17September 16, 2016 10:34 PM

Still waiting from last month:

DELLA REESE: SAD FINAL DAYS!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 18September 16, 2016 10:35 PM

She looks fine considering her age.

by Anonymousreply 19September 16, 2016 10:35 PM

The funniest "SAD FINAL DAYS" headlines were in Bob Hope's final fifteen years. Almost every few weeks he'd be on the cover of the National Enquirer or the Globe looking like shit, with the headline "BOB HOPE'S SAD FINAL DAYS: 'THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.'" And of course it took him forever to actually die (he was over 100 when he finally croaked).

by Anonymousreply 20September 16, 2016 10:38 PM

Oh, dahlinks, I've stretched my "sad final days" into a "sad final decade." So SUCK IT!

by Anonymousreply 21September 16, 2016 10:42 PM

"YES. YES. Say it. He vas my... BOYFRIEND."

by Anonymousreply 22September 16, 2016 10:48 PM

Ovaltine ... Perhaps?

by Anonymousreply 23September 16, 2016 10:56 PM

Still filming a tv series so not sad and not final.

by Anonymousreply 24September 16, 2016 11:11 PM

She was on the dais of some Comedy Central roast in recent years and she was hilarious.

She got creamed by her fellow roasters but she gave as good as she got.

by Anonymousreply 25September 16, 2016 11:14 PM

I had no idea Cloris Leachman wasn't bad looking when she was young.

I know, I know, that goes for most ancient actors/actresses, but I really thought she must have been homely.

by Anonymousreply 26September 16, 2016 11:23 PM

At 90, she still has a nice head of hair.

I think Cloris aged into her hard, birdlike looks--more attractive from middle-age on than when she was young.

by Anonymousreply 27September 16, 2016 11:23 PM

Mary-Valerie-Cloris-Betty.

by Anonymousreply 28September 16, 2016 11:42 PM

I am stronger than all of those bitches combined. I am like cockroaches. I am like Cher.

I WILL OUTLIVE THEM ALL.

by Anonymousreply 29September 16, 2016 11:48 PM

Born in Des Moines. Vegetarian, atheist.

Placed in the Top 16 in the 20th Miss America pageant in 1946.

by Anonymousreply 30September 16, 2016 11:51 PM

In 2011, scientists took a sample of her DNA as part of a longevity study (really):

by Anonymousreply 32September 16, 2016 11:57 PM

I sure hope she lives long enough so that her motion picture swan song won't be that dreadful, crappy shit-fest from last year, "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse."

by Anonymousreply 33September 17, 2016 12:03 AM

A lot of people on this thread aren't getting fruit cup, R32.

by Anonymousreply 37September 17, 2016 12:38 AM

She just did a major guest role on the final episode of Royal Pains. She looked great.

by Anonymousreply 38September 17, 2016 1:24 AM

I loved her birthday tweet this year: I'm 90--how the fuck did that happen?

by Anonymousreply 39September 17, 2016 1:47 AM

[quote]A lot of people on this thread aren't getting fruit cup, [R32].

Exactly. Such rudeness toward a DL icon. Hmmph.

One of Cloris Leachman's best performances seems, oddly, to have been given little recognition. In "Twigs," a four-act play by George Firth, there was one act for each of three sisters and a fourth for their mother. Leachman played all four parts - and brilliantly, too. She was on stage (and talking) for all but about three minutes.

I taped the program when it was shown on A&E in the mid-80s. Over a period of 30 years, it's gone from Beta with commercials to Beta without commercials to VHS to DVD. At this point, the video is grainy and the colors are pretty washed out, but it's still a joy to watch. Just a fantastic performance - or, more accurately, four fantastic performances.

by Anonymousreply 40September 17, 2016 2:45 AM

I've had lot of "sad final days" for years now

by Anonymousreply 41September 17, 2016 2:51 AM

Cloris was "Miss Chicago" in the Miss America pageant (in those days, the contestants weren't just state representatives).

by Anonymousreply 42September 17, 2016 2:56 AM

Not so young!

by Anonymousreply 43September 17, 2016 2:59 AM

She looks great in OP and R1. I don't even know who she is but hearing she's 90 made me take a second look. She looks happy.

by Anonymousreply 44September 17, 2016 2:59 AM

I was in CVS one day years ago and the Enquirer had a ROBERT STACK'S FINAL DAYS headline on the cover. A few hours later, his death was being reported on the evening news.

by Anonymousreply 45September 17, 2016 4:12 AM

So terribly sad.

by Anonymousreply 46September 17, 2016 4:13 AM

Except for Ted Knight, the MTM cast members are really hanging in there!

by Anonymousreply 47September 17, 2016 7:03 AM

I just watched Cloris as a mean cat lady in A Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse a 2016 release.

by Anonymousreply 48September 17, 2016 7:13 AM

She was crazy good as the grandmother Ida on Malcolm in the Middle. I loved the way she looked in the seventies; I always thought she was striking.

by Anonymousreply 49September 17, 2016 8:30 AM

How long ago was she on DWTS?

by Anonymousreply 50September 17, 2016 9:44 AM

OP's pic looks like one of Cloris's character roles. Are they sure she wasn't shooting a movie?

by Anonymousreply 51September 17, 2016 10:01 AM

There is no "v" in Owaltine.

by Anonymousreply 52September 17, 2016 10:15 AM

My mom grew up in Des Moines, Cloris was her babysitter. She remembers her being really fun.

by Anonymousreply 53September 17, 2016 10:19 AM

She's got the oldtimer's disease. She was on Kathie Lee and Hoda awhile ago and didn't even know where she was. Senile old bat.

by Anonymousreply 54September 17, 2016 10:34 AM

R30 the "top 16" is not a thing. So, she was 16th?

by Anonymousreply 55September 17, 2016 10:36 AM

Hey R28, they had a good head start!!

by Anonymousreply 56September 17, 2016 10:44 AM

Doris Day has been the champion of living beyond her sad final days for many years now.

by Anonymousreply 57September 17, 2016 10:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 58September 17, 2016 10:57 AM

I'm sure she's getting it right now, as we speak. I'm certain she'll blissfully die while some hot and muscled silver daddy is pounding away at her.

by Anonymousreply 62September 17, 2016 1:23 PM

She was great in THE LAST PICTURE SHOW and one of the few among that talented cast who overcame Bogdanovich's ironic direction.

by Anonymousreply 63September 17, 2016 1:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 64September 17, 2016 1:39 PM

Thanks to you, I watched it last night (it's on YouTube). Really fun and Madolyn Smith is very good.

Cloris is fantastic as the smotheringly incestuous mother — with a Joan Crawford hairstyle, sucking suspiciously on a cigarette in every scene, stomping around in flaming red pants and what looks like a Dalmatian fur coat.

by Anonymousreply 126March 27, 2018 10:45 AM

by Anonymousreply 130March 27, 2018 5:05 PM
