Rachel McAdams is the nastiest skank bitch I've ever met. DO NOT TRUST HER. She is a fugly slut!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 14, 2016 12:30 AM |
I heard a rumor that she had gotten pregnant, had the baby quietly and her sister is raising it.

Wow ! She and her bf are captured by the paps in WEHO buying bedding! That confirms she is straight! Everyone in Hollywood is straight then lol. Gay men loathe gay women

by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 14, 2016 1:47 AM |
Don't try and make this happen!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 14, 2016 1:49 AM |
Her career can't be that hot if and she is still sifting through irregular linens and infused vinegars at Home Goods.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 14, 2016 1:51 AM |
She was nominated for an Academy Award this year. On what planet is that a fizzled career?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 14, 2016 1:54 AM |
I never even heard of her. she looks washed out as a blond
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 14, 2016 1:55 AM |
She was nominated for one of THE most inexplicable Academy Awards in film history. I do not get her, especially that flat voiced performance in "Spotlight".
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 14, 2016 1:58 AM |
r5 Yeah, that makes sense; being childless is also so great for one's career.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 14, 2016 2:09 AM |
I always imagined she would be the next julia roberts after wedding crashers. She had another hit move that year 2, some thriller with her on the plane. It was entertaining fluff. She's in the sherlock films too right. She has had high profile stuff but I don't know why she isn't a-list.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 14, 2016 2:17 AM |
It's because she keeps getting confused with me!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 14, 2016 2:29 AM |
She's landed a role in a Marvel movie after her Oscar nominated turn in Spotlight. If you had asked this question maybe two/three years ago then maybe, but she's having quiet resurgence. Why she ever had a dip in the first place is baffling to me. 04-05 McAdams was on fire.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 14, 2016 2:34 AM |
She pings a bit to me. I also agree that she was at her peak during Wedding Crashers! drop dead gorgeous and so talented
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 14, 2016 2:38 AM |
I forgot she was in Spotlight. I think I know what the problem is. She's been related to supporting roles. Past times she would be a leading lady. hollywood has regulated all the leading ladies to adult teens or Jennifer lawrence playing dress up. That is if you are not M.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 14, 2016 2:40 AM |
She's going to be in the next Sherlock Holmes, even though she was previously killed off ? Interesting.
Thank God she's not with sleazy Michael Sheen anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 14, 2016 2:58 AM |
She made some bad calls at a crucial time in her career.
While the idea of doing indie movies and developing her craft seems smart, in the wake of Mean Girls, she ended up turning down The Devil Wears Prada and The Dark Knight (as Katie Holmes replacement). As both of those were blockbusters, it cost her momentum. Anne Hathaway vaulted ahead of her on the A list whereas prior she was below her. Meanwhile other actresses like Amy Adams were making all the right moves.
The thing is, on a purely script basis, I totally get it. Both Prada and TDK have utterly shit screenplays (the narrative of TDK Is an incoherent mess that makes the Tim a Burton Batman look like a model of lucidity). But Prada would have pitted her opposite Streep and TDK Opposite a string of A Listers. In an industry where connections and perceptions are everything, she should have realized how seeing her name alongside Streep, Bale, Caine, Oldman, etc. on posters would've cemented her rep as a serious actress.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 14, 2016 3:07 AM |
I'm sure she's a witch. But I would be her frenemy.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 14, 2016 4:07 AM |
Hearing she and Gosling did not get along on "Notebook" probably didn't help since that was her highest profile role (the one you mention when telling someone who she is) and considered a classic romance. But, really, she lost me on "Midnight in Paris" where she played one note bitch the entire movie and almost ruined it for me. I just think she's beyond limited as an actor.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 14, 2016 2:14 PM |
Didn't see MiP.
I like her, and I don't agree that she's beyond limited. People don't just continue quoting from Mean Girls, the name Regina George has become one of those character names people remember - because the performance itself has stuck in their mind and become a touchstone. When Katy Perry alluded to Taylor Swift being a Regina George in sheep's clothing all her Twitter followers knew exactly what she meant.
Besides, if being limited is such an impediment to stardom, how do we account for the success of Natalie, Scarlett, or sullen charisma-void Rooney, for example? Nobody in their right mind could think they are anything but limited in their own way.
If McAdams isn't one of the talented ones - leaving aside the older veterans (Streep, Mirren, Julianne Moore, etc), who are the good A list actresses in Hollywood? Winslet? Amy Adams? Chastain?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 14, 2016 9:35 PM |
Winslet, Adams and even the somewhat overrated Lawrence are talented A Listers.
Rachel is utterly mediocre, but quite charming.
Also shocked by her Oscar nom. Michael Keaton was the only worthy performance in that film.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 14, 2016 9:48 PM |
She seems like your garden variety bland rom-com chick; there are certainly worse ways to make a living, but her role on True Detective was such an incoherent mess, I doubt she'll be getting more serious roles (and I was equally baffled by her Oscar nom for Spotlight since she was such a very minor character).
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 14, 2016 9:55 PM |
I think Prada would have been a flop with her in the role. Though I hink anne is very pretty, she exudes a certain gawkiness that I don't think rachel would have been able to embody. I don't htink rachel would have been convincing in the way anne develops during the film

No, you're thinking of me, 30 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 14, 2016 9:58 PM |
Maybe, R26. On the other hand, she would've been better in TDK than Maggie G. Kind of hard to buy Maggie is this bombshell that Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent and the Joker are all obsessed about. Rachel is super cute, Maggie... Well......
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 14, 2016 10:02 PM |
Maggie looks like The Toxic Avenger as played by Olive Oyl.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 14, 2016 10:05 PM |
agree with you on that r28. maggie has a sort of sophisticated attractive even though she's kind of homely. Rachel would have been better, but maggie was much better than katie holmes.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 14, 2016 10:06 PM |
Did you know Amy Adams was the actress who did all the readings as Rachel Dawes in Bale's screentests for the lead? Can you believe it?! Adams was such a nobody she was never even considered for the part, she was just there to help out the studio as a still under the radar actress not even worthy to compete with red hot, A list.... Katie Holmes! She was also stuck doing crap like Cruel Intentions 2 which was too shitty for Sarah Michelle Gellar to bother with.
What a difference a few years makes! Before she knew it, Adams was scoring Oscar nod after Oscar nod at the same time as SMG and Katie saw their careers get flushed down the toilet.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 14, 2016 10:12 PM |
Amy Adams is one of the most overrated actresses working today.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 14, 2016 10:16 PM |
katie holmes can't act. Though shes very pretty, dime a dozen.
SMG is kidna talented in the genre she she does. She seems a bit one note however.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 14, 2016 10:17 PM |
She's a good actress, a real chameleon. I watched several episodes of True Detective before I realized it was her starring.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 15, 2016 1:12 AM |
R19, Michael Sheen is sleazy?
I thought she was good on "Slings and Arrows".
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 15, 2016 1:52 AM |
I love that she was so tucked away in a corner of the screen all throughout "Spotlight" that they couldn't find a clip that showed her off at the Oscars when her name/nomination was called; hers was one big reaction shot while some former priest confessed to having had sex with a boy (this shit again).
I did find a nice closeup later where she does the cliched scene of "We will not let this go!" or whatever but somehow Oscar night missed this. That movie baffles me in general, by the way. So fucking distanced from its subject. See "Doubt" instead.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 15, 2016 2:18 AM |
No, don't see Doubt. Streep's overacting was abysmal and in its own way, just as undeserving of a nom as McAdams' underacting.
If McAdams had been nominated for Mean Girls, no one would be complaining or scratching their head. She's just the latest of many to be nominated for the wrong performance.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 15, 2016 2:41 AM |
She's Canadian so is probably just as confused by her ambiguous sexuality as everyone else is.
Heard about the secret baby rumor but I think it's her brother and his wife raising it. There are pix of her in Canada where she's obviously pregnant.
Also, her career problems sound more like the result of everyone hating her manager to the degree of taking McAdams off lists so they don't even have to deal with her.
She needs strong direction and with it, she can be really great, and without one, well, you get Everything Will Be Fine or that amnesia movie with neckface. I thought she, recently, showed good range as the trashy boxing wife and then the bitter cop; would never have crossed my mind either of those women were also Regina George.
She's made mention in interviews that no one every recognizes her and how much she likes that and if you look at photos of her over the years she looks like twelve hundred different people so maybe she's also made some kind of effort stay just under the radar. However, she clearly called the paps to watch her buy wholesale pigeon feather towels so....guess you're not a movie star without regular US Weekly updates.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 15, 2016 4:28 AM |
She did consciously step away from acting for a year pretty much at the peak of her stardom. Don't know why but it seems to have sort of worked out. She got off the starlet track and the new Julia Roberts stuff. She keeps a lower profile now and even got a nomination last year.
Maybe she had to take time away to get her head on straight or whatever but I do remember there was a PR release as to she would be consciously leaving the limelight for a year.

Who is the father of her child?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 15, 2016 4:39 AM |
I like her. She does't try to be all glamorous like so many others in her category. She seems more down to earth. I've also seen her screen test for The Notebook, and it blew me away. She was beyond incredible. She's got the goods; she's just not showy.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 15, 2016 4:40 AM |
I thought she was dating Taylor Kitsch
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 15, 2016 4:47 AM |
r39, she "took a break" to go have a baby in Canada.
r40, timing would make it seem like either Gosling or Josh Lucas, if any of her public relationships are even real.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 15, 2016 4:50 AM |
I find it interesting from an objective point of view that Rachel is only seen in public with a new BF . She is GAY
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 15, 2016 10:59 PM |
She is a chameleon. I had a very vivid image in my mind of what she looks like but then I was at an industry event and someone was like "that's Rachel McAdams" and...yes, she was a lovely blonde but looked like a totally different person. I saw her again two months later and she was also incredibly unrecognizable, albeit beautiful and dressed to the nines. Very bizarre and almost scary. I even confirmed with someone else that it was her. Maybe there's a conspiracy where there are two dozen youngish starlets who take turns being "Rachel."

r45,she is damaged
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 16, 2016 1:25 AM |
I was going to start a "Why Did Her Career Go Straight Down The Shitter?" thread, but I happened upon this one.
Her career is all but dead since 2016. I think the industry has forgotten about her.
I did (sort of) like the Orthodox lesbian film she made with Rachel Weisz, "Disobedience," but that was 2017.
