Had no idea he was so handsome. He actually DOESN'T have a face for radio. Wonder what he's packing in that tote bag.
Oh yes. Very very sexy. Good choice, OP.

I know, right, R1?? We can swap derivatives anytime, Kai! (Now I'm wondering what other hidden hotties are lurking in public radio land...)
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 8, 2016 8:11 AM |
His voice makes me want to have him abducted and tortured. Seriously annoying.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 8, 2016 8:16 AM |
I despise Kai Ryssdal with the heat of a thousand suns. He's smarmy and dismissive. He comes across as perpetually bored with a story after one or tow minutes. His' "okay we're outta here" at the end of the show before he fast-reads the names of Marketplace's staff is childish. God how I wish APM would fire his skinny ass.
I prefer Marketplace Morning Report with David Brancaccio - he comes across as an adult who's interested in his guests and conducts interviews in order to extract actual information.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 8, 2016 10:15 AM |
If OP thinks he's handsome, it's time for a visit to the eye doctor.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 8, 2016 10:22 AM |
Massive pussyhound. Big Paul Krugman supporter.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 8, 2016 10:31 AM |
Forgot him, gurls. Married for 19 years. Two daughters, one son. What's the origin of Ryssdal?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 8, 2016 10:35 AM |
Danish R8. Stinky foreskin.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 8, 2016 10:42 AM |
I like "Marketplace Weekend" with Lizzie.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 8, 2016 11:00 AM |
What R5 said.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 8, 2016 11:14 AM |
He cuts his sandwiches diagonally so I hate him.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 8, 2016 11:24 AM |
I can't tell if Kai has BDF or not. I think he does.
Yeah, David Brancaccio's probably a better host, but Kai's hotter.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 8, 2016 9:51 PM |
What is it with adults now using the name they were called when children? "Lizzie" O'Leary - jesus woman, grow up. You be Elizabeth, Beth, liz, but freaking, "Lizzie"? Ugh.
Plus, she speaks like she's a teenager - I cannot take her seriously.
BTW guys, Marketplace and it's various programs are NOT from NPR. They are APM productions, and yes, there's a big difference.

Oh man, R15... Steve Inskeep! I know people who work at public radio stations and have met Inskeep. He's a douche; really full of himself, definitely not a guy who is produceable on-air... the fake laugh, the voice that rises one or two octaves when he's just incredulous, incredulous! during a story or interview. Insufferalbe as a host, but a fine foreign correspondent. He's done some excellent work from Iran over the years.
Give me the calm, comforting, empathetic voice of David Greene in the morning. When Greene finds something entertaining, it's genuine (unlike that self-important Inskeep). I've met Greene, he's definitely a good guy and a DILF (well, maybe a DILF in training).
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 9, 2016 9:16 PM |
Steve Inskeep is the Matt Lauer of NPR. (Records show he's paid more than $350K a year for his on-air shallow douchiness).
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 9, 2016 9:34 PM |
David Greene is a straight man with gay voice.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 9, 2016 9:35 PM |
When Renee Montagne steps down, Steve Inskeep should also leave. Then we can all enjoy waking up to David & David (Greene & Brancaccio).
Kai should become the face & voice pitchman for a used-car dealership or for-profit education.

He's hot as fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 9, 2016 9:42 PM |
Marketplace's tech reporter Ben Johnson is just the right amount of chubby
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 9, 2016 9:51 PM |
there is no right amount of chubby
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 10, 2016 1:33 PM |
NPR business reporter Sabri Ben Achour (on the right)
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 24, 2016 9:12 AM |
More Sabri. He's a Georgetown grad who doubles as a pottery teacher.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 24, 2016 9:16 AM |
Thanks, R25. That image you've posted is from The Washington Blade, so I guess that's one question answered. He's really handsome. Love his radio voice, too. Is he... Turkish?

Another NPR know-it=all is Jeremy Hobson. Always, always the smartest guy in the room (or so he thinks).
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 24, 2016 8:28 PM |
David Brancaccio is gorgeous.

That's a bummer. I met him once at a party in LA. He was lovely - warm, engaging, seemed pretty smart. Quite cute for a tubby ginger. But, that was a party, not the workplace. I guess there are plenty of Jekyll & Hydes in media.

Thanks, R29, that was my first thought seeing the thread title.

I see the name "Kai" everywhere now.
Is it Hawaiian?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 14, 2017 3:34 AM |
I used to love him and then it gradually dawned on me how full of himself he is. He also comes across as quite conservative. I wouldn't be surprised if he's Republican.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 14, 2017 3:54 AM |
r36 I think he's Scandinavian.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 14, 2017 4:00 AM |

I wish people would stop using that expression. It stopped being clever well before the millionth repetition.
I love Kai's voice and think the is great at his job.

He totally looks like he plays bass in a dad-rock band with three guys from his YMCA basketball league
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 14, 2017 4:43 AM |
I follow him on twitter and he's usually pretty critical of the GOP, so I don't think he's conservative. He also worked in the Foreign Service during the Clinton administration.
Is Jeremy Hobson gay?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 14, 2017 4:44 AM |
