Burlington, VT

I'm going up there this autumn. Any places to visit/eat?

Any parts of town to avoid?

by Anonymousreply 38December 3, 2018 4:13 PM

Try to avoid being sucked into Jane Sanders' gravitational pull.

Check Roadfood.com ,OP.

I believe they have many entries for Vermont.

Hi! I live in Burlington, it's very nice here. lots of really great restaurants, some are quite pricey compared to what you think they will be. Really,, just avoid walking King and North streets at night and you will be fine.

How are the college boys in Burlington?

by Anonymousreply 4August 22, 2016 2:52 AM

well, I am a woman so, ymmv but we have a really high number of colleges for such a tiny city. Basically, whatever flavor you are looking for we've got.

by Anonymousreply 5August 22, 2016 2:54 AM

The Shelburne Museum is worth a visit. Also the Ben and Jerry's HQ. (Both are relatively nearby.)

Is Burlington one of the lesbian capitals of the world?

by Anonymousreply 7August 22, 2016 2:55 AM

I don't see that many lesbians, most of them tend to sticck more to Middlebury and Brattleboro.

by Anonymousreply 8August 22, 2016 2:56 AM

and by many, I mean in comparison to the gay guys.

by Anonymousreply 9August 22, 2016 2:57 AM

There is crime in Vermont?

by Anonymousreply 10August 22, 2016 3:11 AM

Cow tipping, R10.

by Anonymousreply 11August 22, 2016 3:13 AM

The Burlington Coat Factory!

by Anonymousreply 12August 22, 2016 3:18 AM

How close is it to Cabot Cove?

by Anonymousreply 13August 22, 2016 3:23 AM

Jane's old college. I'm sure by now it's an abandoned crime den.

by Anonymousreply 14August 22, 2016 3:45 AM

It sure beats Burlington, NC.

by Anonymousreply 15August 22, 2016 3:49 AM

Lots of nice uncut cocks. Must be the closeness to the Canadian border.

I've always wanted to visit Vermont. Mainly because I wanted to go to Bennigton College, but there was no way that was going to happen. It's 2 hours away from Burlington, I think. Is the southern part of the state much different from the north?

by Anonymousreply 17August 22, 2016 3:57 AM

very different.

by Anonymousreply 18August 22, 2016 9:55 AM

Most of the gays guys are in the closet. Dont bother trying to hookup.

by Anonymousreply 19August 22, 2016 10:15 AM

Thanks R3!!!

by Anonymousreply 20August 22, 2016 10:57 AM

The idea of someone asking which parts of some little town in Vermont they should avoid just cracks my shit up.

Gotta have street smarts to navigate the mean streets of Burlington.

[quote]Any places to visit/eat

No, there are no food establishments and nothing to visit either. In fact by law if you live there you cannot have visitors at your home. You have to go to South Burlington

by Anonymousreply 22August 22, 2016 2:44 PM

It's the Montreal of Vermont

by Anonymousreply 23September 1, 2016 12:00 AM

When you get off the bus, you will be met with stank air and heroin addicts. There is no reason to go too Burlington except to die by boredom.

by Anonymousreply 24September 1, 2016 12:10 AM

It can't be any worse than Burlington, Ontario :(

by Anonymousreply 25September 1, 2016 12:13 AM

What do you do between yawns?

by Anonymousreply 26September 1, 2016 12:42 AM

Vermont is boring, really boring. I've only enjoyed skiing there but there's not much else worth doing. Yes the Ben & Jerry's headquarters is fun but that's it. Most of the people are friendly but there are plenty of rude Canadians who like to visit since it's so close by. Honestly I didn't find many hot people.

by Anonymousreply 27September 1, 2016 2:33 AM

I read it has wonderful inexpensive coats for the entire family

by Anonymousreply 28September 16, 2016 12:43 AM

I went to a town wide garage sale there back in the early 90s ,there was nothing there . No restaurants , bars etc. By 6 pm we were the only people on the road .

by Anonymousreply 29September 16, 2016 12:55 AM

Check out what's going on at UVM. They might have a concert or guest lecture that is worth checking out. I went to grad school at Darmouth, and we would sometimes drive up if something was worth seeing. It's a small nothing town, but it's a good, small nothing town. You might also want to include Woodstock, VT, which is a little more geared towards visitors looking for the quaint New England experience. The Woodstock Inn used to be great; I assume it still is. It's a great part of the world. It's not terribly exciting, but worth seeing. Enjoy yourself.

by Anonymousreply 30September 16, 2016 12:59 AM

You visited a town named for a bird? You're nuts.

by Anonymousreply 31September 16, 2016 1:14 AM

Try to avoid the flying monkeys.

by Anonymousreply 32October 7, 2016 3:10 AM

Channel 3, WCAX TV, Burlington.

by Anonymousreply 33October 7, 2016 4:21 AM

I like the station from North Pole better.

by Anonymousreply 34October 26, 2016 2:58 AM

You're better off in Burlington, NC

Vermont seems like it wouldn’t have much crime at all. I imagine there are no bad neighborhoods.

by Anonymousreply 36December 3, 2018 4:01 PM

There are blacks in Burlington?

by Anonymousreply 37December 3, 2018 4:11 PM

That was almost 30 years ago, things are much different today.
