Hunky CNN senior producer dies under mysterious circumstances while vacationing in Barcelona

What happened to Matt Null?

-

The CNN family is mourning the loss of Matt Null, a morning show senior producer who died Monday while on vacation with friends overseas.

For the last 3 years, Null was senior producer of Early Start. Before that he was a producer for FNC’s On the Record with Greta Van Susteren

Christine Romans, who reported the news on Early Start this morning, called Null “a rising star at CNN.”

“He is someone who really made a difference in the world through his job,” she added.

Before joining Fox News in 2012, Null worked his way through the local TV news ranks, at KRON in San Francisco, WSVN in Miami, WFTS in Tampa, among others. Null, 34, was in Barcelona when he died. A cause of death has not been revealed.

Maybe he knew too much about Cuomo?

by Anonymousreply 1August 17, 2016 3:40 PM

So he was vacationing in Barcelona with friends... just in time for the big Matinee Circuit party.

I'd say he did too much extasis and had a stroke.

by Anonymousreply 2August 17, 2016 3:46 PM

What R2 said.

by Anonymousreply 3August 17, 2016 3:48 PM

She looks like a White Party regular.

Poppers and meth. It'll git'ya errr'time.

by Anonymousreply 4August 17, 2016 3:49 PM

He had the shit on Dishonest and Corrupt Hillary, Fat Ass Grabbing Ailes and The Gargoyle and Liar Cuomo.

by Anonymousreply 5August 17, 2016 3:50 PM

Thats sad.

That said, he looked a very hard 34. His face shows some sort of drug abuse.

by Anonymousreply 6August 17, 2016 3:55 PM

Agreed with R6.

That face hit the wall again and again. Meth and party drugs prob.

by Anonymousreply 7August 17, 2016 3:56 PM

At 3am recently our doorbell rang. A generou$ gentleman had arrived to service us. He had no Euros but only $$$. $500 was the price, took him down to the balls and got filled up by his leche... His picture is above!

by Anonymousreply 9August 17, 2016 4:22 PM

Obviously killed by HRC.

by Anonymousreply 10August 17, 2016 4:23 PM

Barcelona is NOT a city to stumble around in, high or wasted, not knowing the language, and being oblivious to your surroundings.

by Anonymousreply 11August 17, 2016 4:30 PM

r2 nailed it right off the bat. This guy had some sort of partying gone wrong accident.

Seeing that and r9 it looks like he lived a fun life. Sad that he died young but at least he probably enjoyed it.

by Anonymousreply 12August 17, 2016 4:46 PM

So many responses and nobody is clutching their pearls over the fact that he was gay and worked for Fox News?

by Anonymousreply 13August 17, 2016 4:51 PM

Fox is crawling with fruits, R13.

by Anonymousreply 14August 17, 2016 5:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 17August 17, 2016 5:53 PM

Obviously drugs.

by Anonymousreply 18August 17, 2016 5:56 PM

(Barcelona + Friends) * Vacation = Drug-Related Death

by Anonymousreply 19August 17, 2016 6:01 PM

I think Sheperd Smith did it. You don't cross the Queen Gay at Fox.

by Anonymousreply 20August 17, 2016 6:22 PM

But at least it wasn't one of our dreamy Disney Princes, Tommy and Gio! YAY!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 21August 17, 2016 6:29 PM

Tommy and Gio, however much we mock them, at least aren't Circuit Queens. And they're married and devoted to each other, so they're not slutting around so much anymore.

by Anonymousreply 22August 17, 2016 6:32 PM

Conspiracy theorist on twitter are blaming it on the Clintons. I'm not joking.

by Anonymousreply 23August 17, 2016 6:35 PM

That's a shame, he was very handsome, even if he partied hard.

Young and healthy + making good money + vacation + mysterious death with no cause released = drugs.

by Anonymousreply 29August 17, 2016 7:05 PM

What drugs are they using that they actually die from? Is it mixing drugs and alcohol or what? Most drugs won't kill you, except maybe heroin or oxycontin pills

You do street drugs, you have no idea what they are cut with.

RIght now Fentanyl seems to be killing a lot of people. Why are street opiates being cut with hospital pharmaceuticals? I don't get it.

by Anonymousreply 39August 18, 2016 3:50 AM

Thanks r35. I am oddly proud of him that he went from doing gay porn to having a respectable job. Good for him.

by Anonymousreply 40August 18, 2016 3:56 AM

Looks like some of that past caught up to him, though.

by Anonymousreply 41August 18, 2016 3:57 AM

So he was a former porn actor, now Circuit queen and druggie working at FOX. I can't see why everyone is fawning over his 'achievements'.

by Anonymousreply 42August 18, 2016 4:22 AM

does anyone have a link to his porn. the article said he was hung with a long, thick pole.

Red-bull and Vodka is a really common mix guys like to do in the clubs but its actually very deadly if you over do it. Sky high amounts of caffeine, a stimulant mixed with alcohol, a depressant. Young guys have been known to drop of a heart attack.

How did he go from porn to being a producer? I know people that spent 4 years in film school and still cant get their foot in the door or a regular full time job. Just saying.

by Anonymousreply 50August 18, 2016 10:52 AM

He looks like 45, not 34. Man, porn and drugs have a real foot print on your appearance.

by Anonymousreply 51August 18, 2016 10:55 AM

Is hunky the buzz word for former porn star? They seem to use that term to describe him in all the other articles. They must of known about his porn past. To the naked eye, he does not look hunky.

by Anonymousreply 52August 18, 2016 10:56 AM

Nor does he look healthy r52.

A porn performer gets his life together, somewhat, and then "blows " it with drugs and too much partying. Move on boys, there's really nothing too surprising here.

by Anonymousreply 58August 18, 2016 11:51 AM

He was a producer for a 4am show r58... he had friends in the media & may have been good at his job.

by Anonymousreply 59August 18, 2016 11:56 AM

also, he did 3 videos- not exactly a huge past in the adult film industry

by Anonymousreply 60August 18, 2016 11:56 AM

IMO one pron tape is too many.

by Anonymousreply 61August 18, 2016 11:58 AM

why r61? are we that puritanical a country that the minute your cock is seen on video, you shouldn't have a career in any other film? Have you every taken a picture of your dick and sent it to someone? Thats a still frame of a video that someone can put on line. Should you be barred from everything else thereafter?

by Anonymousreply 62August 18, 2016 12:02 PM

Gurl! THINK!

[quote]Why would a big tv network give a job to someone with that kind of background??

GURL! THINK!!!

Okay... now I'm being serious here... What is the message here that is being sent to the children, R62?

Look... I like porn. I have a level of respect for porn people because they had the nerve to do something that I wanted to do, but did not have the nerve to do it. BUT, there's something very wrong here when these people are using, or have used, sex to get ahead. I know that many of you might say "DUH", but...

This guy might have been legitimately skilled and talented as a producer, but as someone pointed out up thread, most people couldn't get their foot in the door. This thread reminds me a bit of the other DL thread where a straight-up whore is now starring on some soon-to-be gay reality show. Like????

Is it now just about looks? How much time you spend in the gym? All of that Kardashian superficial bullshit stuff that is used just to get ahead?

by Anonymousreply 63August 18, 2016 12:21 PM

we are going to assume he got multiple producing jobs because he could do the job well, not because he had a big dick.

by Anonymousreply 72August 18, 2016 12:38 PM

Don't be coy, Jeffy at r71.

by Anonymousreply 73August 18, 2016 12:41 PM

r72 Or he had a rich, influential benefactor who helped him rise (no pun intended) in his career.

by Anonymousreply 74August 18, 2016 12:44 PM

I hope your jerking off helps you shoot a soothing load. Back in reality, nobody survives in an on-your-feet multitasking job, such as TV producer, through nepotism. Nobody. There are other positions where that might, might, be possible.

by Anonymousreply 75August 18, 2016 12:48 PM

[quote]we are going to assume he got multiple producing jobs because he could do the job well, not because he had a big dick.

This is NYC. Do you know how many producers are walking the streets UNEMPLOYED that can do the job "well"?

I don't want to take anything away from this guy. Besides his dick, he may have genuinely been a nice guy, but there's something wrong here. There are many here who want the exciting career, etc... "She wants to lead the glamorous life", but is it coming down to you have to sell yourself in order to obtain it?

You need connections to get a job as a producer in NY

by Anonymousreply 86August 18, 2016 1:30 PM

Not necessarily R86...most TV producers I've known started as interns and worked their way up.

Yes, having connections could help you land an internship or production assistant job; but if you don't have the goods...you are NOT moving up.

by Anonymousreply 87August 18, 2016 1:44 PM

Yes R87 but he needed connections as you said to get that internship. Even if you do, no guarantee you can move up. You need to hustle, network and use those connections to move up. Network news is the most insular industry, if you don't know someone you will never make it.

I know what I'm talking about because I've worked in the industry. You can't coast. You need to constantly hone your networking skills 24/7 to make it in this industry.

by Anonymousreply 88August 18, 2016 1:47 PM

I wonder if Shep got a taste of some of that schlong when Matt was at Fox News.

by Anonymousreply 89August 18, 2016 1:50 PM

professional "networking" does not mean waving your big gay dick around.

by Anonymousreply 90August 18, 2016 1:50 PM

Well, networking is about meeting people and building relationships with them.

Sleeping with the right people can be an effective networking tool. I mean you can judge it, but plenty of people have found success that way.

by Anonymousreply 91August 18, 2016 1:52 PM

R90 I never said it did. But if you think you can move up in that industry by responding to a job ad, it doesn't work that way. Almost all of these producing jobs are not even advertised. They hire by word of mouth.

by Anonymousreply 92August 18, 2016 1:52 PM

Jesus Christ you earnest dumbasses. He didn't start as a producer or got any internship in NY. He started in local news and worked in Tampa, Miami and SF before landing a job at CNN.

You bitches seem unable to even read a couple lines of the articles linked here before taking out your underwhelming dicklets and start wanking with your casting couch fantasies.

by Anonymousreply 93August 18, 2016 2:05 PM

Paying his way through college?

by Anonymousreply 94August 18, 2016 2:07 PM

R93 exactly, point I was trying to make.

by Anonymousreply 95August 18, 2016 2:09 PM

[quote] Jesus Christ you earnest dumbasses. He didn't start as a producer or got any internship in NY. He started in local news and worked in Tampa, Miami and SF before landing a job at CNN.

You still need connections and good networking skills nonetheless, that is my whole point. Nobody gets a job via a job posting at CNN, no matter how talented you are. At that level it is not what you know, but who you know.

If you worked at the network level, you would know that.

by Anonymousreply 96August 18, 2016 2:09 PM

He was on his back getting fucked, got interested in the camera work, and moved to the state where the dumbest people are so he could work his way up. Simple.

by Anonymousreply 97August 18, 2016 2:10 PM

R96 you have completely gone off on a tangent. Some jerkoffs assumed he fucked his way into any job and we sensible types were saying no, he could obviously do his job and moved up. Which is what you are saying as well. Nobody spoke about "job postings", duh.

by Anonymousreply 98August 18, 2016 2:13 PM

R98 ok thanks, I just thought the pushback on my narrative was the use of connections, contacts and networking. Never was I suggesting he got where he on his back.

by Anonymousreply 99August 18, 2016 2:15 PM

R98, you can fuck your way into a job, do the job well, and move up faster by fucking well. I went from temporary secretary in an ad agency to vice president in 4 years by fucking the right clients and fucking over the right colleagues. And you get to fuck.

by Anonymousreply 100August 18, 2016 2:16 PM

[quote]Some jerkoffs assumed he fucked his way into any job and we sensible types were saying no

And none of us will ever know the truth. You make it seem so crazy. I've literally gotten an interview because I once had a threesome with a couple, and one of the guys worked at a company that had a job opening he thought I might be appropriate for. I ended up having to pass on it for unrelated reasons, but networking takes all kind of forms.

If you are a sexually adventurous gay man with a big dick like he was, crazier things have happened.

by Anonymousreply 101August 18, 2016 2:19 PM

kudos

by Anonymousreply 102August 18, 2016 2:19 PM

Sleeping your way to the top can also backfire. You are known for exchanging favors, and whispers start circulating in the newsroom. You have no credibility. In addition no guarantee you will move up by putting out. The only way someone can sleep their way to the top in this business is if you have such a strong charisma on-camera, that promotions are undeniable. But you just need that little push or that little referral to get the ball rolling.

For producers, sleeping your way up does noting to advance your career. All it starts is whispers campaigns, which destroys your credibility.

by Anonymousreply 103August 18, 2016 2:23 PM

[quote]Jesus Christ you earnest dumbasses. He didn't start as a producer or got any internship in NY. He started in local news and worked in Tampa, Miami and SF before landing a job at CNN.

by Anonymousreply 117August 18, 2016 2:36 PM

Ok if this guy was an internationally known porn star, he would never get hired. But what I can gather it is not like he put that fact on any resume. He in all likelihood hid this from his bosses, hoping no one would find out. If the folks at CNN found out, he would be definitely let go using the morals clause in his employment agreement. he would definitely not work in network or local news again.

He would have better luck working behind the scenes in reality TV

by Anonymousreply 118August 18, 2016 2:36 PM

[quote] I know people that spent 4 years in film school and still cant get their foot in the door or a regular full time job. Just saying.

Again, contacts, connections, networking, bridge building. You could be a fabulous film-maker, but if you don't have those skills to schmooze, you will never make it.

by Anonymousreply 119August 18, 2016 2:38 PM

His face does look much older than 34, but I can't put my finger on exactly why. I guess it could be either meth face or poz face, or both.

by Anonymousreply 120August 18, 2016 2:46 PM

Another vote for excessive, mixed drugs.

Now he's Null & void.

by Anonymousreply 121August 18, 2016 2:48 PM

Young HIV+ men do not get "poz face" at 34. But if they take drugs, they get meth face.

by Anonymousreply 122August 18, 2016 2:48 PM

Producing the morning news at CNN was the perfect job for him if he was on meth,. you never sleep anyways if you are on that drug,. And you have to report to work at 3AM, just when the bars are closing. So he would probably sleep from 12 noon to 8PM, party all night, then go to work at 3AM

by Anonymousreply 123August 18, 2016 2:52 PM

Looks like he did three scenes for CF, hardly some big porn career. Did he work for anyone else? Seems about as harmless as having a Chaturbate account now, pretty easy to recover from and/or hide. The real question is who is going to inherit his tank top collection.

by Anonymousreply 124August 18, 2016 3:01 PM

The truth is out.

He was volunteering at the local homeless shelter when a boy started choking. He used the Heimlich to help. The meat came flying out.

He then left and walked to the hotel (because he doesn't want to support global warming by taking a car) he gave money to an orphan beggar and then agreed to adopt the child.

and then he took meth and died.

No. Here's the truth you won't read anywhere else:

Matt along with 3 buddies went to a French disco till 4:00 a.m. They took a taxi back to their hotel and along the way stopped to go to gents. A uniformed police officer, seeing them bust down the door of the bathroom, ordered them to stop and pay for damages.

Only 3 hoofed it back to the hotel. They were questioned by police the following. Someone recalled Matt lying on the ground with a gun pointed to his head saying "Whatever" to the cop.

Well if he was shot that will come out r127. Right now there are zero details about his death anywhere online that I can see. They are keeping things hush.

by Anonymousreply 129August 18, 2016 4:41 PM

Unless he died from a criminal act, what happened is really none of your business, though it has been fun to speculate.

Overall the guy seems like he led an interesting life, was very well liked, and he had some balls.

by Anonymousreply 130August 18, 2016 4:47 PM

She obviously had a 'client' who was high up in CiaNN and put her on the payroll.

Hardly anything to be proud of to be on the payroll of the criminal lying NWO propaganda machine CiaNN.

According to a comment on Str8UpGay Porn his work at Corbin Fisher was in his Linkedin profile. Given he's a producer and not on air talent, I would expect CNN couldn't care less about his porn past.

by Anonymousreply 133August 19, 2016 12:02 AM

His boyfriend is (was) an international DJ who played a bunch of gay pride after parties. They were in town for a circuit party so you know drugs were involved.

Have you every taken a picture of your dick and sent it to someone? Thats a still frame of a video that someone can put on line. Should you be barred from everything else thereafter?

That's how it worked in the good ole days. Even before the internet. Porn was a death knell...for hopes, aspirations, dream, and most times, life.

by Anonymousreply 140August 19, 2016 7:43 PM

Fuck ! I have been reading all the Facebook posts of the "friends" he and I had in common and NO ONE even dares hint as to cause of death... Seriously, blurt it out already...!!!

It must be really embarrassing... More embarrassing than the porn past... If he had been run over by a car crossing the street, people would say "he was run over by a car"... But no, nothing...

How does a 34-year-old man die vacationing with friends at a circuit party? It does smell of drugs, sex and dance music...

by Anonymousreply 142August 19, 2016 11:23 PM

Someone with him on the trip posted this on facebook:

[quote] Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on me and others. It has been a rough few days and Matt's passing was certainly the most traumatic thing I have experienced in my life. All of the love and support has definitely made this time a little more bearable... Matt was one of the most caring, compassionate and sincere people I have met. He always made any time I spent with him "Super Fun". In the years since I first met him, I can not count the amount of times he has turned my frown upside down with one of his silly jokes or grabbing me and forcing me to dance when I was "boring him". We had an amazing time in Barcelona and our last night together was one of our best. I take comfort in knowing that he passed having a "Super Fun Time" with all of us and I hope that all of you do as well... Many people have asked what they can do to help. It would mean so much if you could donate through the link below to help with the initial expenses the family will incur. Any little bit helps and every donation will be appreciated.

Any inferences from this message? Other than the oddity that a highly-placed television producer needs his friends passing around a hat for funeral expenses?

by Anonymousreply 143August 19, 2016 11:24 PM

They can't access his money. Dealing with an overseas death is complicated and expensive.

Stephen Gately had his rich friends/bandmates to facilitate his transportation and funerall expenses.

by Anonymousreply 144August 19, 2016 11:39 PM

*funeral

Should have typed Super Funerall.

by Anonymousreply 145August 19, 2016 11:43 PM

Right, r144 Stephen died also in Spain in similar gay-clubby circumstances... He and his boyfriend took a guy home for a threesome and he died doing him while the boyfriend slept, or something like that...

You reckon Matt's was a similar class act?

by Anonymousreply 146August 20, 2016 12:25 AM

Well, not all of us are sluts like you r140, so while I am not r61 I have never taken dick pics and sent them to anyone. You are projecting your own slutty behavior on the entire gay community. Speak for yourself. And no, I am not clutching pearls, I just have common sense.

by Anonymousreply 149August 20, 2016 2:27 AM

Wait, what? He worked at CNN and no insurance? I find that hard to believe. Most companies that size have a death type of clause where they will pay 15 - 25,000 for funeral expenses. That's more then enough for most people. The only way he would not possibly have that is he was working under the table or freelancer.

by Anonymousreply 150August 20, 2016 2:38 AM

"Super Fun Time" = Got blasted out of our minds on drugs and meth

by Anonymousreply 151August 20, 2016 2:40 AM

[quote]They can't access his money. Dealing with an overseas death is complicated and expensive.

I call bull shit on this, someone wants to make a lot of money from his death. Americans die overseas all the time as tourists. There are standard procedure to deal with that. Usually they cremate the body before its shipped back. Easy cheesy. less than 400 dollars. Some friends, they expect everyone else to pay for his expenses.

by Anonymousreply 152August 20, 2016 2:47 AM

[quote] take comfort in knowing that he passed having a "Super Fun Time" with all of us and I hope that all of you do as well.

Isn't that the case with all drug ODs? The person who posted that seems to have divulged more than was intended.

by Anonymousreply 153August 20, 2016 3:11 AM

Well, I am the one who copied the facebook comment to Datalounge... I must say that the friend who posted it is a young (20s, 30 at most) circuit party boy who until recently was dating an escort and former Splash Puerto-Rican bartender, and I believe (about 80% sure) he was an escort himself at one point or another... I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED if he and some other buddies are unscrupulous enough to seek to profit from the situation... Yes, I realize I am passing judgement and assuming that someone who would escort is probably less ethical in other matters (and it may not always be so), but I don't think that's an excessively unreasonable assumption...

by Anonymousreply 154August 20, 2016 4:12 AM

His crowd funding page is up to 13,000 of a 20,000 goal. I dont know, it looks kind of legit, says the money is going to his family. But I thought the reason they needed the money was to deal with his funeral? Like I said before, almost all employers that size have a typical pay out for that kind of thing around 25,000. UNLESS, the death was a suicide. Just saying, or maybe the OD is considered as such. There is just something fish about the story.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the most common cause of death in a circuit party - GHB. A couple of cc's more than the strictly measured dose, and, depending on how much you've had to drink, you can go to sleep forever.

Literally you're here one minute, gone the next.

by Anonymousreply 157August 20, 2016 12:32 PM

Maybe it's jealousy, but I have such an issue with these types of campaigns. It's like we're teaching and encouraging people to be irresponsible. Okay, no one really expects to die when they are 34, but this guy had a good job which I assume paid well. He had money to go to Barcelona for a circuit party. At his age, he doesn't have $10K, or close to it, from his own means?

by Anonymousreply 161August 20, 2016 1:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 164August 20, 2016 4:03 PM

R160 when you work in TV it is freelance. Meaning it is on a contract basis. Very rarely do they hire producers on "staff' meaning a full-time job with benefits.

by Anonymousreply 165August 20, 2016 4:06 PM

That is simply not true. He was staff at CNN -- and most people at CNN are staff. Basic life insurance is part of the benefits package.

by Anonymousreply 166August 21, 2016 3:39 AM

Go fund me is more often than not a way for people to avoid sacrifice themselves. And the people who are in on that page probably want to skim the cash to buy shit for themselves. They certainly don't want to be put out by any of the tragedies and inconveniences of life.

Insurance doesn't pay out that quickly and I'm sure the friends he traveled with aren't the beneficiaries.

You honestly think some American insurance company is going to send some twink a large sum of money cause they say so. There's next of kin issues.

by Anonymousreply 172August 21, 2016 4:10 AM

Was he not there with is lover who is a DJ? Guys in their 30's are not twinks.

When I was in my mid 20's my boyfriend had AIDS and killed himself. His family didnt want anything to do with him for the year before that. I borrowed money from my average middle class family to deal with it. I was pretty poor and was living paycheck to paycheck. That is what I meant by saying these people who are his friends don't seem to want to be inconvenienced by what life throws at them.

Not to mention, if he was partying with friends there, and he OD'd, they are not "responsible" but they are involved.

by Anonymousreply 173August 21, 2016 4:21 AM

WHAT? Okay, maybe it's me, but I don't know, (or have known) of any private company that offers basic life insurance as a benefit. It would make sense to me if a company had a deal that offered life insurance at a discounted price, nut the employee paid the premiums.

Who here reading this thread works for a company, or worked for a company that had life insurance as a benefit?

by Anonymousreply 174August 21, 2016 4:21 AM

Most of my jobs have had it.

by Anonymousreply 175August 21, 2016 4:23 AM

by Anonymousreply 179August 21, 2016 4:39 AM

R174 all of my corporate jobs for the last 20+ years have had basic life insurance as a company-paid benefit. The amount is typically equal to 1 year of salary. So if your salary is $100K for example, you have a life insurance policy for $100K and if you die your designated beneficiary gets that payout. This is a VERY common benefit for salaried employees.

by Anonymousreply 180August 21, 2016 4:46 AM

That's news to me R180. I've worked for some of the most well-known investment banks in NYC. I've had key-man insurance on me, but never a company that offered personal life insurance as a benefit. As I wrote earlier, group life insurance, (and where an employee pays the premium), makes sense to me...but, I don't know, or have ever known any company that does that. I suppose I have missed out! You learn something new everyday.

I'm of the generation of where a lot of these type of benefits have been cut i.e. Dental.

by Anonymousreply 181August 21, 2016 5:06 AM

R181 I spent 8 years with a Wall St firm and had the life insurance benefit described. I thought it was standard in that industry. I moved on to a different industry but find that it's pretty standard. You must work for the one firm that doesn't offer it LOL. There's usually an option to buy additional insurance at employee cost, but the 1x salary is company paid everywhere I've worked.

by Anonymousreply 182August 21, 2016 5:41 AM

And Amen to that, r179!

by Anonymousreply 183August 21, 2016 7:16 AM

[quote]maybe it's me, but I don't know, (or have known) of any private company that offers basic life insurance as a benefit.

It's you, every company I have worked for offered this as a standard benefit. Most people under 50 dont die on the job so its very cheap for the employer to offer this as a small perk. I worked in different fields from creative ones like you see in Hollywood doing post film work to education and architecture. All of those companies had this. Are you in the US? It's pretty standard unless its a very small company of say 20 or less. You may even have it and not know it. Read your benefits package or talk to HR...assuming you have any benefits where you work. If you have health insurance through your employer, most likely you have this too.

by Anonymousreply 184August 21, 2016 7:22 AM

He looked sort of like the porn star Bruce Beckham.

by Anonymousreply 185August 21, 2016 7:26 AM

I had life insurance offered as an extra where I paid part of the premium depending on the amount I wanted to be paid out. I cant remember how much they took out of my check but my other half would have received 250,000. I think it was maybe 50.00 a month. Its usually an extra you have to pay for unless your company has really great benefits. It didn't cover things like suicide or if I had some elective surgery like Lipo and died on the table. Only accidents and natural causes. So I would guess if I were to OD it would be considered accidental suicide. Which is why I suspect this guy died of an overdose.

by Anonymousreply 186August 21, 2016 7:38 AM

I have no sympathy for him at all.

by Anonymousreply 187August 21, 2016 11:55 AM

I'm sure they had life insurance on him, but his family won't see any of that and Isaac will probably be locked out of their apartment.

by Anonymousreply 188August 21, 2016 12:23 PM

Meth and roids. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 189August 21, 2016 12:57 PM

I admit, I looked up his scenes and watched them, because I was curious. I likely watched them back in the day, but didn't remember him. It was a stark reminder of now much more natural amateur porn was back then. He seemed like a sweet guy in his solo/interview video, and he obviously enjoyed getting fucked (a gay man enjoying having sex with a man--how refreshing considering how porn today is overrun with so many G4Pers who make it seem like some ordeal). He'd obviously lived lot and aged a great deal in the past 12 years, so it was a little bittersweet to see that he'd once been that fresh-faced. He was still a real person, and it's sad to have anyone that age go so soon.

by Anonymousreply 190August 21, 2016 3:20 PM

I have insurance to cover burial. Pay €18 a month. Am covered for €9k. Not because I am rich or planing on Lizard singing but because I dont want to be a inconvenience on my next of kin. Have also world travel insurance that will get my body from anywhere to europe as mortal remains not ashes. I only pay €8 for that a month. So I find you high living NY bitches immoral selfish crass and tacky as hell you live above your means in manses in the sky yet are not insured for whatever happens

by Anonymousreply 191August 21, 2016 3:50 PM

I've also always had life insurance with fulltime jobs. Sometimes not as much as a year's pay. But as someone mentioned you can opt to purchase more. It's a pretty standard benefit. Same with disability insurance. I think a lot of people are unaware they have this coverage through work, for some reason HR doesn't seem to publicize it. Everyone knows about medical because they use it. Death/disability insurance are not even considered most of the time.

by Anonymousreply 192August 21, 2016 3:54 PM

I've never had life insurance provided through an employer -- and I've worked in higher ed for 30+ years. I've had the 'option' to get insurance for up to 5x my salary, but that is a supplemental benefit requiring my contributions (and health exam, blood testing, etc).

I have a small life insurance policy to cover funeral expenses that my grandparents opened for me when I was born. It is a 5K policy that will barely do anything.

None of these provide benefits immediately upon death. The friends/family need cash now to ship the body back from overseas. While I think that a GoFundMe type operation is downright tacky, not all 30-somethings in NYC have that sort of disposable income to cover the 20K in expenses.

[quote]None of these provide benefits immediately upon death.

Actually that is not true. Many programs will pay very fast because of time constraints and most funeral homes will hold off on the bill if you can produce the documents to prove they are still covered. People die unexpectedly every day, most dont have 10,000 cash just lying around.

As for his poor friends in NY I call bullshit. Most of those party bitches had enough money to travel to Europe, they certainly can divide up the cost. I am sure living in NY most of them have credit cards with high limits, and no one cares how you pay as long as you pay. Those friends just dont want to be put out of their way.

When my first partner died of AIDS 20 years ago, I had to raise money to do exactly the same thing. And the age of 25 without GoFund me or Facebook. I called everyone from relatives to friends and asked them to pitch in. (one parent was on disability, the other was a drunk). THAT is when you find out who was a real friend and who was not.

by Anonymousreply 209August 24, 2016 8:51 AM

38 days left on go fund me? OK I call bullshit about needing the money for an emergency. What are they going to do just keep him on ice? This tells me that his expenses are probably covered like most people through insurance and they are hoping to some cash pay out for the family later.

by Anonymousreply 210August 24, 2016 8:57 AM

Cremate and mail ashes home. Not expensive.

by Anonymousreply 211August 24, 2016 9:27 AM

Or, R210 ,that his immediate acquaintances are going to put up to $20,000 on their credit cards and are hoping others will help them pay some (or all) of it off when it comes due.

by Anonymousreply 212August 24, 2016 10:52 AM

It's not 20,000! I know, I have lost several friends. Such drama queens. That's what it would cost if you had some elaborate casket with gold handles and hand finished lacquered wood. A typical funeral runs around 7,000 - 10,000 total, that's casket in the ground, ceremony, flowers everything. Yes you can spend any amount you want but 20,000 is way overboard. If they cremate him overseas, it would be 1/4 of that price. Chances are this ex-porn star is not that religious so, doubt he would care. 10 friends and family can't scrape up 1,000 on their credit cards while doing circuit parties in Europe? They probably spend more than that on drugs and entertainment.

Bitch, please.

And by the way, what about all those whiny fake bitches on CNN and FOX who said they shed a tear for him on the air. Those people make 10,000 a day or MORE. Why haven't any of them put their money where their mouth is? Whats one day of work for someone you called a friend who made you smile?

by Anonymousreply 213August 24, 2016 11:16 AM

It's not just cremation R213. Read R178.
