I think not. Yeah I know that, by her mid twenties, her beauty was gone, but in her prime - wow.
Brooke Shields - was there ever a more beautiodul womn?

Brooke is more beautiful here, and also probably younger.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 20, 2016 8:54 PM |
OP is intoxicated by her beauty.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 20, 2016 8:57 PM |
She never appealed to me. She always looked like a painted up little whore. Her look was pure eighties: overdone hair, overdone makeup, so unnatural looking.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 20, 2016 9:16 PM |
MANY more beautiful women. However, I saw her last week at a restaurant in NYC and she was stunning. She is aging extremely well.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 20, 2016 9:21 PM |
beautiodul OP? I'll let that go, but I do know people that went to high school with her in N.J., and she acted the way she looked: stuck-up bitch.

Sharon Tate was beautiful with no makeup, with makeup, with any hair color, hair style... and was by all accounts a genuine and kind person. So I would say her.

I agree, R35. I always believed Brooke was never into drugs cause she had a really smooth and glowy skin and shiny, glossy, thick hair. She just exuded good health and genes.

R40, I honestly am not being argumentative. That woman at r31 looks like Sharon. I just finished comparing a bunch of photos and it honestly seems to be the same woman.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 20, 2016 11:00 PM |
Brooke certainly had it all going on in the early 80s, but like most girls that are long and lithe at 14 she kept on growing and turned into what they term as "a handsome woman". She also never seemed to develop that beautiful classic American style that she was famous for in her youth, but Ii think fluctuating weight had something to do with that.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 20, 2016 11:01 PM |
r45 Just sent this thread to Sharon Tate's sister, Debra, and we'll see what she has to say.

by Anonymous | reply 125 | May 21, 2016 12:43 AM |
Anna Nicole Smith was all hair dye, makeup and fake tits and Photoshop. When she was poor white trash Vicki Lynn Hogan she was nothing to look at. Nothing.
I thought the teenage Olivia Hussey was more beautiful than Brooke Shields. In "Romeo and Juliet" she's gorgeous...and she doesn't look like she's wearing any makeup.
What was noteworthy about Brooke Shields was not her being good looking (LOTS of young women were as good looking as she was); it was that her face always looked like that of a woman rather than a child. Even as an infant her facial features were well defined and sculpted. It was definitely unusual. A picture of her topless when she was a little girl is startling: she has the face of a young woman and the body of a child. She was promoted as a sex symbol even when she was a child due to her mature good looks, which is incredibly sick. But nobody considered it untoward at the time.
Brooke Shields loved publicity, which is why she glommed onto Michael Jackson. She got a LOT of attention when she was his "girlfriend." Jackson liked the arrangement too; having a beard is a very useful thing.

There was a real touch of the werewolfy monobrow about Brooke Shields.
Marilyn was another big fan of the benzo/opiate combination.
Cindy Crawford has also become more masculine as she's aged. Looks a bit like a younger Caitlyn.

by Anonymous | reply 172 | May 21, 2016 2:21 AM |
I assume most people don't know the name, but there was a model named Rosie Vela who, in my opinion, was much better looking than Brooke Shields. Her face was incredibly lovely and she had a mane of strawberry blonde hair. I thought her beauty was perfect.
Another model, poor Gia Carangi, was better looking than Shields. She was also sexy as hell and had a fantastic pair of boobs. She was a successful model, had achieved the dream of millions of girls, but she was desperately unhappy and numbed herself with heroin. She died of AIDS at 26, her beauty long gone. But at her best, she looked incredible.

Brooke Shields is undeniably beautiful and I'd rank her as one of the most beautiful of all time. She photographed amazingly but I still think Isabel Adjani in her prime was the beauty gold standard. I just don't get Liz Taylor. Nothing about her rings beauty. She looks like an above average librarian. That short hair didn't help. Others of her time were much better looking. Grace Kelly and Jean Serberg to name 2.

Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. I don't see anything remarkable about Adjani. She's pretty enough but I don't think she's any great stunner.. I don't know maybe it's the hair in that picture.

Why she aged so quickly and got that hard masculine edge to her face is beyond me. I never would have thought it would happen this way to her.

I don't think Brooke lost her beauty by her mid 20s. That's way too young to write someone off. A woman can still be gorgeous with good maintenance through the 30s. I saw her when she was about 28 while married to Agassi, at a tennis tournament. In a very crowded room after the match, she was like a diamond among coal. Beautiful face, happy smile, eager eyes to congratulate her husband, glossy hair. Clearly, the prettiest girl in any room she was in. One of the things I've noticed about incredibly beautiful women is they usually have amazing symmetry in their faces. Even matches on either side, good proportions between facial features and fantastic bone structure. It's a pity that picture upthread of Brooke at 51. She looks far older than 51. Bad lighting and who knows what stressors she's had to age her skin so thin. There are two women I haven't seen mentioned up thread who are GAWGASS! Redheads Rene Russo and Ann Margaret.

R9 I'm wondering if the OP and some others on this thread find her beautiful as a kid bc of their recalcitrant paedophilia. Meanwhile people on the Michael Jackson thread are foaming at the mouth by what they perceive as his failings (for something not proven) but they allow some random homosexual to salivate over a teenage Brooke. By the way, whilst we are on the subject, I find her a lot more beautiful now as a strong, highly intelligent, mature woman.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | May 21, 2016 5:33 PM |
Brooke Shields in Endless Love was exquisite. A teen, though, is not a woman. At 15, I thought Natalie Portman would be one of the world's great exotic beauties. Not so. Generic drugstore makeup model prettiness, a big jaw, a too pinched nose job and a cold smile.
Maggie Cheung is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
Also Rachel Weisz, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry.
Easier to find more beautiful brunettes. There are more of them, and they seem to age better.

R288 and r289, I'm assuming you are the same person. I want you to objectively analyze Cameron's nose on the r289 post. She looks like she has a small nose crafted upon a larger nose. Her nose does NOT look normal or natural at all. Also, as I said, Cameron is one of the nicest celebrities that I've ever met. She's engaging and very magnanimous. 10/10 as far as personality is concerned. I've gone hiking with her and a group of people, and she has an AWESOME body. But I've seen her up close sans make up and unfortunately, she really does have sever acne scarring as r290 points out, uneven skin texture, and discoloration that presents as uneven skin tone.
I met her and ran in the same circles as her while she was dating Jared Leto, and later when she dated Justin Timberlake (who btw, is the biggest douchebag ever, and I have no idea why she dated him), so this was quite some time ago, and she was considerably younger.
I also find it weird that people (heterosexuals) find it odd that gay men can recognize beauty in women. Let me clue you in on something: some of the MOST acclaimed makeup artists in the world were/are gay (Kevin Aucoin), as well as high fashion photographers, and high-end fashion designers.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | May 21, 2016 6:14 PM |
R296 gay men are like het men but worse, they HATE and envy women. I don't know if it is some childhood hang up with their moms or they resent strong, powerful women (hence their moms). That is why threads like these have no place on a gay website. It's ridiculous. Stick to what you know penises and make up for transsexuals and drag queens.
by Anonymous | reply 297 | May 21, 2016 6:25 PM |
R297, I don't think that is true at all. Gay men have fun on this board and poke fun at women, but it has not been my experience that gay men hate women. Also, may I add that I believe that gay men are far more accurate at objectively identifying truly beautiful women, because their option is not driven by sexual desire, rather it is based on pure aesthetics.

The golden ratio mask fits the average white woman more than the average black or East Asian woman. Both the black woman and the East Asian have noses that are more like a western European type of nose, and the Asian’s eyes and the black woman’s lips don’t fit. The old sculptures used are cherry picked to fit the mask - they happen to fit a current beauty standard, and the Greek beauty standard was fairly similar to the current one as long as you ignore the unibrows and strong noses. I’d like to see them use paintings from the 1600s through the 1800s, with the extremely wide eyes, long noses, narrow lips, narrow jaws, and double chins that certainly wouldn’t fit the mask but were still the beauty standard. The mask wouldn’t work with the women of Heian era Japan, with their very tiny eyes and lips, high eyebrows, and long oval faces, and it wouldn’t work with the modern day Mursi women with their lips stretched, wormlike, over their chin. Then you have the women in Southeast Asian tribes who blacken their teeth or sharpen them into little shark teeth, or the ones who cover their whole face with scars or tattoos. It wouldn’t even work with the current beauty standard in Korea where women have a surgeon shave off half their lower face and give them a joker’s smile, and an overall look of obviously plastic surgery. Then you have the elongated heads of various tribes which is/was also considered beautiful, and even Nefertiti, the ancient Egyptian woman pictured under the mask, had that.
Idealized portrait from 1750, with the appearance most "beautiful" women at the time would've had:
by Anonymous | reply 303 | May 21, 2016 6:50 PM |
R298 beautiful is not an objective quality but one driven by societal and cultural dictates. In addition it is a weapon to 'keep women in their place'. Since we live in
a world that objectifies women and treats them or rather, mistreats them as 'things' or pets and denies their humanity, anyone who further contributes to the
de-humanisation of women and their objectification just supports the status quo as it is. Gay men add to this, driven by their own intense fear of strong,
influential and intelligent women, who drove them to prefer men in the first place.
by Anonymous | reply 304 | May 21, 2016 6:50 PM |
I do not think this is an ironic thread at all. We are biologically and genetically programmed to respond to beauty. Our eye and brain immediately reconcile it when we see it. We see it in art, architecture, nature, clothing design, etc. Yes, we may be highly influenced by culture and other intrinsic factor at play in nature vs. nurture, however, we all recognize when something or someone is undeniably beautiful. This is not a gay, or heterosexual thing. It is a "human" thing.

R304, I promise you that I am not trying to be mean when I ask you this, but are you a college aged heterosexual man who is currently in a "Women's Studies" class, and spending a lot of time with self-proclaimed post-modern feminists? Because this is exactly what you sound like. Nothing wrong with that, but once you get out of college and start traveling, and interacting with many different people across gender, race and culture, your current hypothesis is bound to change, thankfully.
Strong, and intelligent women did not drive men to sexually prefer men. Women did not make men gay. There are definitely cultural norms throughout the world that create and condone homosexuality as an acceptable social construct, however those norms are usually driven by misogyny, not the other way around.

I suspect you are old bc I think beauty standards have changed since the 50's.. I find so many of those "so-called" beauties look like above average housewives with horrible hair. I mean no disrespect to your age just pointing out that beauty standards change with time and VERY can transcend generations. The difference between Brooke Shields and other young girls who were equally as beautiful was that Shields had unusually mature facial features and was aggressively promoted as a sex object even when she was a little girl. I'm sure pedophiles drooled over those nude pictures of her that were taken when she was about ten years old, her face plastered with makeup. Supposedly her wacko mother considered those pictures "art" but they would also be viewed as kiddy porn. And those Calvin Klein jeans commercials where she purrs that "nothing" comes between her and her Calvin Klein jeans. And those movies she made: "Pretty Baby" where she plays a 12 year old prostitute, "The Blue Lagoon", they story of two attractive children who discover sex on a deserted island, and "Endless Love", an overwrought teen make out movie that made a travesty out of an interesting novel. That was what set Brooke Shields apart: not her looks, but her promotion as a child sex symbol. That got her loads o attention that she wouldn't have normally gotten if she hadn't been selling sex.

We can go on and on , on and on but the end of the day no one can deny the fact that no woman or any creature for that matter is as beautiful as Elizabeth Taylor. If the history of mankind was a book, she would be the cover page.
Her beauty is so unique, iconic and mesmerizing that to look at her is like having a meditation. Or conversation with God. If there were angels, they would be burning with envy looking at Liz. She is just Iconic in every sense of the word. If anyone says no, I wish death upon that one.

Here's a fun thing to do! Calculate your face, or the faces of some of the women mentioned in this thread. Does your boyfriend or girlfriend calculate well in the Golden Ratio analysis? Find out.
Share your results! I scored 79. Now here is something that's kind of weird... My best friend is very attractive (not only in my opinion, but in the opinion of others, too). My best friend, however, has had extensive plastic surgery in order to re-align the dental bite, as well as a rhinoplasty, and cheek implants. I have never had any type of cosmetic surgery. Not even Botox, or fillers. I applied photos of my bff into the software, and the calculation was 49. Three different photos, same score. I also did three of myself, and got 79 each time. It's not that I don't think I'm attractive, because I think I'm OK looking, but I always have considered my best friend to be way more attractive than me.

Beauty is more than pure symmetry, in some cases it works, like Angelina's corrective surgeries, but sometimes assymmetrical faces work too, or not so perfect faces but things like charm and the spark n the eyes make someone beautiful.

In Brooke's case it's not just the face (though Brooke has assymmetrivcal eyes - one is higher than the other) - it's the coloring. Tan skin, deep blue eyes and a cascade of golden-brown hair. Same with Elizabeth Taylor - it was her features plus her exquisite coloring - creamy white skin, black hair and blue eyes. Coloring is as imprtant as features in beauty.

Weird looking back at the 80s beauties like Pauline - in those days, all beauties had huge strong jaws and mega wide mouths. The standard seems to have changed to more delicate features and smaller mouths, with women like Kendall Jenner considered very beautiful.

Whoever described Natalie Portman as generic drugstore beauty ad pretty, it was spot on. Someone asked about the beautiful women in The Joy Luck Club. I don't recall any of them who stood out from another. But, you know who was the most beautiful in the film? Russell Wong. Hot damn, he was gorgeous in his prime. I do think facial symmetry plays a part in beauty. Why? Features that are far apart take away. To wit: Rumor Willis's lips are far from the chin. She has some pretty features (eyes, nose, lips), but her proportions aren't even. If you look at Brooke, look at each side of her face and from top to bottom. Nice features and good symmetry.
by Anonymous | reply 356 | May 21, 2016 10:54 PM |
R353 the standard is still strong jaws and wide lips. In the past it used to be more delicate and I guess it changed in the eighties. Kendall Jenner isn't a good representation of the current standard except for her low brow ridge - for one thing she has huge eyes, which I do think are beautiful. Jessica Alba (although her mouth is pretty normal width) and Alessandra Ambrosio are good examples of the current standard. Smaller, narrower eyes, a square, wide chin, a longer nose with less nostril show, lower, thicker, flatter brows, and fuller, taller, wider lips. The face shape tends to be overall longer, narrower, and more masculine. Angelina Jolie also has a very wide mouth, and she has the square jaw too. The change from the 70s was pretty dramatic, when the nordic woman with a big smile, tiny nose, thin eyebrows, big eyes, and usually blonde hair was the standard. Michelle Pfieffer, Cheryl Tiegs, Cherly Ladd, Cybil Shepherd, Susan Dey, etc. It's weird how many different looks have been popular over the past 100 years. Lillian Gish was considered beautiful, but she wouldn't be now.

by Anonymous | reply 360 | May 21, 2016 11:08 PM |
It was creepy the way Brooke Shields as a prepubescent and teenage model was lusted after in the 80s. Once she hit her 20s, the media didn't salivate over her as much. She grew to be too tall, with a straight awkward looking figure. True beauties like Liz Taylor, Jane Fonda, Marilyn Monroe, Monica Bellucci grow into their beauty and remain beautiful for a long time even in their 50s and 60s.
by Anonymous | reply 361 | May 21, 2016 11:14 PM |
WTF, R361?
Liz Taylor was FAT in her 50s and 60s.
Marilyn never saw her 50s, she DIED aged 36.
by Anonymous | reply 362 | May 21, 2016 11:18 PM |
The prettyscale program is flawed because it just shows you how a given face compares to a composite, which is a bunch of faces morphed on top of each other, and it doesn't take into account that some deviations from the norm matter and others don't. If you put a photo in you have to put it at the same angle as the composite, so the head shouldn't be too tilted down, up, or to the side. You also can't put in a smiling photo. That changes the look of the eyes and mouth. That's why Rita got the wide mouth result. Her head was tilted to the side which accounts for the bad face symmetry.
by Anonymous | reply 363 | May 21, 2016 11:20 PM |
{360} Marilyn Monroe was never a size 14. She was 5 ft 51/2 inches tall. When she died she weighed 115 pounds. At her heaviest, the most she ever weighed was 140 pounds. She had her gallbladder removed in the last year or two of her life and lost 25 pounds. I remember a program where they were showing some of the costumes from the film "The Prince and the Showgirl" and the host remarked how tiny Marilyn's dress was.

R328, actual someone can deny Liz Taylor was beautiful. I don't think anyone under 50 thinks she's beautiful and certainly not THE most beautiful. Not a dog face but even in her "prime" I doubt she'd stop traffic these days. I just don't find anything remarkable about her. Not many women can pull off short hair. Liz ain't one of them. Just getting acquainted with Jean Seberg (sorry not my generation) but there's a beauty! Liz can't touch her. For those who are unfamiliar, google her.

by Anonymous | reply 371 | May 22, 2016 12:57 AM |
For me eyes are the most important feature. After Marilyn Monroe had plastic surgery the rest of her face was quite beautiful, but she had an unattractive eye shape and she was somewhat wall-eyed as well. One eye was higher than the other and the inner corners pointed in different directions. She disguised her eye shape with the heavy-lidded look, generally corrected her inner corners with eye makeup, and had extremely angular eyebrows that made her eyes seem more upturned. Her eyes curved down towards the outer corner of her eye more than average, which is a masculine trait that increases with age, and it gives a saggy look to a woman. She would throw her head back in most pictures which kept you from realizing her eyes were weird because it’d seem like it was just the angle, besides being half-closed. You end up noticing the sleepy expression and that's about it. It's hard to find pictures of her with her eyes open and her head at a normal angle, which is pretty unusual.
When she smiled without tilting her head back her nose looked off, kind of pressed into her face or something, and she had a double chin. Without makeup she was washed-out. Makeup, lighting, posturing, plastic surgery were very important to her brand of beauty.
Also, did she have an underbite? Why does her lower face look like this in early photos?
by Anonymous | reply 372 | May 22, 2016 1:01 AM |
Marilyn's hair was always awful. I like straight, silky, long hair on a woman. Hair that's not too thick, with plenty of movement. Kendall Jenner's hair springs to mind, although her face isn't beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 377 | May 22, 2016 1:09 AM |
I looked it up and it says she actually had an overbite corrected. So maybe she was holding her mouth in a weird way to cover her teeth, and she pushed her chin out in photos because it was weak, which accounts for why she eventually had a chin implant.
by Anonymous | reply 378 | May 22, 2016 1:09 AM |
I should add I think her smile was absolutely beautiful when her head was tilted back. The main reason I don't believe she belongs at the top of the list is because in my opinion she had goofy looking eyes. Smiling photos or ones with her eyes half-closed does nothing to change that opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 379 | May 22, 2016 1:13 AM |
Cindy Crawford's daughter, Kaia Gerber, blows Kendall away, r355. Today's modeling standards are very different from those in the 80s, when a woman had to be naturally almost perfect in order to get work. And when Cindy was their age, she blew them both right out of the water.
by Anonymous | reply 381 | May 22, 2016 1:43 AM |
When she was starting out as a model Marilyn was told to "lower her smile" in order to make her nose look less "long." That's why she always had those weird, quivering lip movements.
In her earlier modeling photos she has very curly, reddish brown hair (her mother was a redhead) and her face does look different from her later photos. The nose is definitely different and so is her jawline. She definitely had work done. She did have that lush, uninhibited quality right from the beginning and the camera loved her and she loved it right back.
I recently got a good copy of "Before Marilyn: the Blue Book Modeling Years" at a used book store. It's full of photos of her before she became the straight-haired blonde glamour queen known as Marilyn Monroe. It really was a gradual transformation, an amazing one.

Kaia Gerber is 14 in that photo.
Trouble is, between 14 and 18, girls can really thicken up and their looks can change. She might not keep that spindly look past 16. Jenner has and that's why she's such a successful fashion model.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | May 22, 2016 3:04 AM |
Kim ruined her face when she got her nose job. She now has a huge, masculine gap between her top lip and the end of her nose. Her surgeon should have kept the length and just reduced the angle, but Kimmy wanted a little button nose and I guess it does look a lot better in profile.

r298 nailed it. Gay men are more object about the beauty of women, not driven my sexual lust but actual beauty. Lets be honest, if you think gay men as a stereotype have good taste, then it would naturally extend to women. We just dont want to sleep with them. I mean come on, most of the fashion designers for women are gay men, you have no problem accepting that as not ironic. Do you want "straight dudes" to make your next outfit?

Sharon Tate was a beautiful woman, absolutely, but I feel a lot of people let the horrible tragedy of her murder color their judgement. She was not the most beautiful woman ever, just a lovely woman who was senselessly slaughtered. Likewise the whole cult that has built up around Marilyn Monroe, who was a gorgeous woman who photographed especially well, builds her up into something more than she was. Do you really think if she had not died in 1962 at 36 , she would have been able to sustain a great career with her limited acting skills and fading looks ( she was still beautiful in stills for "Something's Got to Give", but how long would that have lasted, especially with her addictions?). I don't think things would have ended up as tawdry as they did for Jayne Mansfield, but her options would have been increasingly limited.

Of all the "great beauties," no one's is as tied to her coloring as Taylor. If she did not have those color eyes we wouldn't be having this conversation. Her facial features were not at all great - and of course the less said about her body type, the better.
by Anonymous | reply 399 | May 22, 2016 5:26 AM |
Despite all the criticism on here for Marilyn she is still a gold standard and ever imitated. Poorly. The camera loved her. No matter what era and despite changing trends and ideas of beauty she never goes out of style. Also, she was loved by men as well as women because she had a vulnerable little girls quality and most women who met her thought she was very sweet and kind so despite her sex appeal she wasn't really seen as threatening. and even women wanted to protect her.
by Anonymous | reply 400 | May 22, 2016 5:29 AM |
R397 but when Sharon was still very much alive her beauty was frequently noted by pretty much everyone. Random strangers would stare at her, people who met her would say how gorgeous she was. On top of that, she was a sweet and friendly person, never bitchy or snobby. Her murder actually damaged her reputation for a long time because rumors and gossip about her and her social circle being sex and drug-fueled rich hippy satanists.

R366, even with hardly any makeup and shorn hair, Seberg is still more of a natural beauty than Liz Taylor. R399, agreed. Nothing spectacular about Liz. Just look at the black and white photos. She's very above average at best. I don't even think the color of her eyes are that great. Someone said it right, Liz has bad bone structure too. She's got big tits but that's it. R407, here's a pic of Verna Lisi at her most beautiful. She's very pretty here. Later on, she lost a bunch of weight and appears to have had a rhinoplasty, and perhaps a chin implant. What a shame. She went on to further diminish her natural beauty, by frequently bleaching her hair. And let's not forget the massive amount of makeup that she wore. I know it was a trend at the time, but I don't think that women truly understand just how much the over use of makeup detracts, and distracts from natural beauty. I wish that women understood this principle. I see sooo many women on Instagram wearing tons of makeup, and injecting their faces chock full of fillers. These women are often times gazing at their own reflections on their phones as they snap multiple selfies, and you can see how enamored they are with themselves once they post a selfie or video. They honestly think they look hot! Here's a HUGE life tip, ladies: Truly beautiful women barely ever wear makeup. They simply just don't need it. When they do, it is usually pretty minimal. And they certainly do not pump their faces full of Radiesse or Juvederm. Why ruin a perfect face?
Bottom line: you are either a natural beauty or you're not, and people truly can tell the difference. No amount of makeup, perfect lighting, Photoshop, or filler can ever change that.

The best Estée Lauder model was Paulina. In my opinion, she was, and still is absolutely gorgeous. She was a 10/10 in her heyday, and definitely the most beautiful woman mentioned on this entire thread. 2nd runner up? Jaclyn Smith. 3rd runner up: Heddy Lamar or Vivien Leigh - they're a tie.

Also, I forgot to mention Vanity. She was perfection. Also that rare and elusive 10/10. I'm sure someone brought her up. I know I placed Jaclyn Smith as number 2, but I have no choice but to replace her with Vanity. As a matter of fact, I think Paulina and Vanity are a tie.

Btw, r445- I chose that photo for a specific purpose. Even with no make up, and in a t-shirt & jeans, Lynda Carter was radiant. You could easily see how pretty she is because she's not wearing any makeup to enhance her looks, and despite her outfit, it's pretty undeniable that she has a bangin' body.
by Anonymous | reply 447 | May 22, 2016 10:23 AM |
Linda Carter DOES look like Justine Bateman in that photo, and Vanity has a masculine edge that I'm not crazy about on a woman.

Virna Lisi had shitty eyebrows in the first of the two recent pictures posted that were overplucked in the center. Virna seemed to have a lot of trouble with styling in general. Sometimes her hair looked too thick from hairspray and it also looked better dark. Then you had her eyebrows, which were often plucked into a thin line to the point they looked sickly. Styling is a skill that many of the women listed here excelled at and she didn't. She probably had the nicest eyes of anyone who has been listed.
There is no such thing as a timeless beauty and someone close having it wouldn’t be unique or very interesting to look at. Timeless beauty would likely strike most people as “boringly pretty, not beautiful.” Someone who would never be the most beautiful of her time who would fit into many different standards, although of course never all of them. Probably someone who looked like a facial average, and of course it would end up depending on the country she lived in and the appearance of the population. Whatever flaw a person has, if the standard really emphasized the opposite of that flaw, well then your "timeless beauty" is thrown out of the running.

Brooke Shields was overrated. I'm sure there were plenty of teenage girls as good looking as she was, but not all of them had a crazy mother who would do ANYTHING to promote her daughter's career. Shields was conspicuous not because of her looks but because of the publicity that made her stick out like a sore thumb. The nude pictures while she was still a child, the Calvin Klein commercials, the teen sex movies....all of that made her the premier teen/child beauty/sex object. I never had any liking for Brooke Shields. She went along with all the sex publicity, she eagerly became Michael Jackson's beard, she didn't have anything to do with him for years (she distanced herself from him went the child molestation stuff came out) and then miraculously showed up at his televised memorial, eulogizing her dear, dear friend. Brookie is a cunt.

Brooke had a perfect, heart-shaped face up until her late teens-early twenties. Once she hit her mid twenties, she got her mother's jawline. She's still beautiful, but she was drop-dead beautiful/gorgeous up until she was 18ish.

by Anonymous | reply 474 | May 23, 2016 2:27 AM |
At some point Brooke's face just got too big. She was a beauty at 13 to 16. Once she started going to Princeton that was it. Her jawline just got bigger and bigger. Very tragic to see beauty like that fade so quickly.
She was still a handsome woman, don't get me wrong. But she lost the rare, exquisite beauty she'd had.

by Anonymous | reply 538 | May 23, 2016 6:50 PM |
Both Cindy Crawfords' and Brooke Shields' eyes seem to be sunken. Is this the result of a cosmetic procedure? An eyelift gone wrong? Or just something that happens as some women age?
by Anonymous | reply 539 | May 23, 2016 6:55 PM |
I'm not sure what you mean, R535. Melania Trump has naturally squinty eyes that sometimes show the whites above her irises in a comically crazy eyed, Norma Desmond sort of way. Virna never has any of that unless you count intentional squinting as natural squinting. They both have the inner part of the eye lower than the outside but that's a female thing. Are you sure it's not the eye makeup or the fact her eyelids are lowered?

She couldn't act at ALL. She's laughably bad in all those movies she made as a teen, but people didn't go to those movies to see her act, they came to see the teen beauty (or child beauty; she was 12 years old in "Pretty Baby") engaging in sex. When she phased out of her child/teenager sex symbol persona, her movie career was over FAST.

It’s pretty hard to find a more beautiful woman than Hedy Lamarr. In her day she was considered the most beautiful woman in the world. She was not much of an actress, hard to get along with and very demanding but despite that she still had a long career in Hollywood until her looks started to fade. She was said to not have a bad angle and could be shot from any direction. She was specifically noted for having a perfect profile that was copied by many a plastic surgeon.
Her life story is just plain weird: ground breaking inventor, world class beauty, sex maniac, etc., that she will continue to fascinate long after most of the women who have been mentioned in this thread have been forgotten.
