I remember seeing one video on Youtube, which I can't find now of course, where he talked about his brother coming out and how hurt he was not because his brother is gay but because apparently his brother had told most of their family and they had kept it a secret from him and they had been very close growing. He also stated that he has struggled reconciling the church's teaching on homosexuality because he knows being gay is not a choice and he wants his brother to be happy, but then he ruined it by saying living a chaste life is of course would be the happiest solution! Ironically I think one of the issues has to address is mental health of the clergy, particularly parish priests. Priests who are part of a religious order is a little different because you do live in community so at least you have come contemporaries around you.

Funny how few nuns there are these days. Convents used to be filled with women who chose sisterhood because of their non-interest in men. But now they can be open about their sexuality and avoid having to take those archaic vows.

Years ago, I had a friend who went from our Catholic high school to seminary. He was straight. He only lasted a year because he said that the vast majority of guys there were gay and he got tired of constantly being hit on.

There are men who go into the priesthood even today, because they love their faith and they genuinely wish to serve others. I know Jesuits and Diocesan priests, who are intelligent, caring, and accepting. Many of them believe that the Church needs to change about LGBT acceptance and an expanded role for women, including ordination.

There are also a disproportionate number of men who go into the priesthood today, who are very conservative. They march in lockstep to EWTN, do all sorts of genuflections before receiving communion, think JP II, B VI were great popes, and Francis is just short of the anti-Christ. Quite a few of these men are closet cases.

This is the first time I've heard of Fr. Mike Schmitz. And, yeah, he's hot. I don't truly understand transgenderism, but his approach is simple. Whatever causes it, it's more deep-seated than what he describes.

I look at people like him and think "wow, he's very honest and smart". After watching this, out of curiosity I went to look at older videos of him and while he has always been a quick speaker, the more recent videos have different tone as if something upstairs is off.
