His downplayed acting was good on Parenthood since it's believable, though it made for a weird contrast against all the over-acting by the rest of the cast (I mean, they were "normal" people, they should be quite un-dramatic). He played a gay kid on Private Practice though, and was pretty good if I remember correctly.

R106 I don't think Katims is homophobic. There was a minor gay subplot during either the second or fourth season of Friday Night Lights involving the assistant coach, I believe. Also, the daughter Hallie in Parenthood came out in the final season I believe. There is something ultimately wholesome about these two shows though, so it doesn't surprise me.

The show as a whole is really good. I love it. There's more Drew in the early to mid seasons... I remember him sort of disappearing once the character went off to college, though he's still present throughout.
