Well, as a kid I thought it was the most hilarious thing ever, especially Kevin Kline.

OK. The Kline/Curtis sex scene set against the Cleese/Aitken bedroom scene was funny.

OK. The kids singing at the funeral is funny.

Stephen Fry is in the movie, for a second.

I loved this movie and Kevin was at his finest. I was surprised and pleased he took this role.

Overall - meh. Some laughs but not as hysterical as people say.

My favorite scene was near the beginning when that poor family stumbles upon John Cleese and Jamie Lee Curtis defiling their home. I love the look on the wife's face seeing that dirty underwear on her family portrait.

I thought that was a great line, and used it to effect in grade school.

Yes, R12. It was part of the Hayes office film requirements from 1982-1989. 7 second kisses and a sax solo over the last kiss/crane shot and over credits.

Why does a sax mean dirty, stinky, slutty?

Be careful, R16, don't forget Bill Clinton played a sax and played at sex.

Maybe r17, but now there's a razor for stinky women's armpits and the commercial for it has saxophone music.

I love this film. Was nice to see a comedy performance get a nomination - and win.

I never got its appeal. Everyone found it a lot funnier than I did.

John Cleese and Kevin Kine were both really sexy in this.

Jamie Lee Curtis' character is a real tramp in this.

I don’t love the movie but Kevin Kline’s win is so inspired. I love when a genius purely comedic performance wins (not rom/com, or comedy drama, but all out comedic performance). Joan Cusack in In & Out should have been the bookend to this.

R20- I never found the movie funny either. Baby boomer types LOVED this movie upon it's release in 1988.

This film makes fun of people who stutter.

John Cleese and Michael Palin should apologize and Kevin Kline should return to his Oscar.

Michael Palin's father had a stammer. He has lent his name and support to a center to help kids who also have a stammer.

It's quite the dark comedy with all the animals getting killed or eaten alive for laughs.

However, the movie made me realize that getting aroused by someone speaking a foreign language, or in a foreign accent, is a thing. And I experienced that myself with the Scottish accent.

Didn't you find the crushing to death of the little doggies hilarious?

I thought it was funny, but it is a dark comedy. And Palin's reaction when the old lady finally croaks is hilarious.

Even though they used the stammer for jokes, Michael Palin's character got the best of Kevin Kline.

I cringed, r28, then I laughed. Palin's reactions were wonderful, then that loony reaction when he realizes the old lady finally died.

I liked Barbara Trentham who played John Cleese's sophisticated but very bitchy wife. Her reaction to finding out he had an affair with Jamie Lee Curtis is very funny.

The scene between Cleese, Kline, and Trentham upon discovering Kline has broken into their house is hilarious.

“Oh you English are sooooooo superior”

Still a line I use to this day.
