Not a single former acting co-worker of Patty Duke has offered a tweet, sympathy or condolences about her death.
Not a single one.
Was she that difficult to work with?

She told them to call her Anna so perhaps "Patty Duke Dead" went unnoticed.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 1, 2016 1:51 PM |
You couldn't add this useless question to an already open PD thread? You thought it needed a thread?
Of course you did. You can use it as a another excuse to talk about other dead actresses of yesteryear.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 1, 2016 1:56 PM |
R2 don't you find it strange that not a single former co-worker has offered condolences?
That is why it should have its own thread.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 1, 2016 1:58 PM |
Melissa Gilbert and Chris coffer did.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 1, 2016 2:00 PM |
Melissa Gilbert, Chris coffer and William Shatner you can fit into a phone booth and are B-list
Anyone else?

All I every cared about is if they said hello to me. It's one of my favorite words, along with enthusiasm and thank you. I too was taught not to say thank you for far too long.

Patty had to come crawling back to TV once the 70s rolled around, so of course her former co-stars are going to be B-list.

Cast members of that Disney show she just on have said something

Harry Falk is 83. Their marriage lasted only 4 yrs and Patty was a mess.
[quote] In 1965, Duke married director Harry Falk, who was 13 years her senior. During their marriage, she had repeated mood swings, drank heavily, became anorexic and overdosed on pills a number of times. The couple divorced in 1969.
Duke married Michael Tell on June 26, 1970, in order to "give (her child) a name". Their marriage lasted 13 days before ending in an annulment on July 9, 1970; Duke said the marriage was never consummated.
John Astin is 86.
What exactly do expect from two octogenarians and man to whom she was married for only 13 days?

If Sharon Tate or Anne Bancroft had an ounce of class, they would've put aside any petty grievances and taken the time to eulogize a national treasure. Shame on them. And shame on John Astin too...he had children with Patty and now is not the time to play the role of bitter ex-husband.

I have a question....why was Patty Duke so very very wrinkled? It was to the point of bizarre. And very tiny crinkles & wrinkles all over her face and neck, as if she were 102 years old. She really was very homely in middle age onward. She must have had a good personality and/or money to keep her husband of 30 years. And the butch hair-cut she sported in her 60's was homely.

[quote]why was Patty Duke so very very wrinkled?
Sun definitely. She was always out in the sun with a tan.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | April 4, 2016 10:15 PM |
I think it was a combination of why Patty Duke had wrinkles to the extent that she did. The combination was smoking which she was a heavy smoker, even some would say a chain smoker, lithium (which she took since the 1980s) which has a cause and effect to cause wrinkles and that's fair Irish skin and it's probably was a little bit hereditary. She definitely was not a sun person.

I did always appreciate that Patty did not have any sort of surgery or procedures to try to make herself look younger, I actually think it helped her career wise in the 90s and early 00s as she seemed to be everywhere on tv playing everyone's grandma. Tyne Daly took a similar approach, as well. Though, I suppose since neither were ever considered great beauties in their day, there was probably less pressure to 'stay young'.

by Anonymous | reply 108 | April 5, 2016 8:17 PM |
My father had a bowel obstruction two years ago. He'd been constipated for a few days, and then developed such severe pain abdominal pain (blood pressure shot through the roof) that we took him the ER. After two days of non-surgical treatment (which didn't work), he had surgery, which is now done laparoscopically.
It turned out to be an "easy fix" (surgeon's words). The culprit was scar tissue from an appendectomy, in 1945, while he was in boot-camp! Over time, his intestine had become twisted around the scar tissue, creating a pinch....and all they had to do was untwist it; no cutting. The surgeon was extremely pleased! Going in, we'd been warned that they might need to remove part of his intestine (depending what they found), and he would require a colostomy bag the rest of his days. But that didn't happen, and he came through the surgery like a champ! Vitals strong, and was relatively alert, all things considered (86, mild-dementia). He understood that he was in a hospital, and why he'd had surgery (he remembered the abdominal pain), and sorta chuckled/smirked at the fact that the boot-camp appendectomy was the cause of it all (a beloved family story). Things were looking good, we felt cautiously optimistic.......
Unfortunately, my dad never made it out of the hospital. He developed pneumonia within 24 hours, post-op, and died 23 days later. Technically, the bowel obstruction/surgery didn't kill him. The material backed up in his intestine did eventually evacuate, a few days after the surgery.......but it was the beginning of the end.
A link for R105. The more you know, and all that.....
