I just saw Rita Wilson on television a few weeks ago. Seems she's suddenly become a rock star, and going on tour. Maybe she should take the kid with her.

Chet Hanks is a perfect example of why I never want to have children. If I had a kid who turned out like that idiot, I would just have to kill myself.

Chet is the result of bad parenting. Martin Short and his wife raised three wonderful kids -- all of whom were taught to be respectful and hard-working. They are about the same age as the Hanks/Wilson kids and socialized with them a bit. The contrast between the boys is striking -- but the contrast between Hanks two older and two younger kids is striking, too. Rita is the variable here. She is super selfish and she passed along that attitude to her sons.

Besides stealing a husband and the title of head cheerleader, how is she selfish exactly?

Curious that Chet is so physically and mentally so different from his father. Reminds me a bit of the Martin Sheen and Charlie dynamic. You really have to wonder if there is something we don't know about the parents or is he simply a proverbial bad seed.
