Can middle-aged guys wear Vans shoes?: Reborn
I loved wearing Vans when I was much younger. This was back around the time Sean Penn wore a pair of them while playing Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
I'm seeing they're coming back in again.I want know if a 47 yr. old guy can wear them around this spring without looking like a douchebag?

If you have to ask, then no, you should not wear them. You're too self-conscious to have any sort of style.

I'm 39 and wear Vans, Skechers, Nike, New Balance, DC, etc...
A nice shoe is a nice show.

OP, is your name Marco Pierre White?
If not, then no, you cannot wear Vans at that age but thank you for asking.

Who cares as long as you find them comfortable.

Post the ones you want to wear. They vary.
I wear the same New Balance shoes as my 70 year old father (well, when I am just doing errands or walking nearby)... so I am not one to talk, really.. but I live around fashionable people. I gave up caring after 35.

What is the arch support likes in Vans?
I can't wear Keds or Pumas because they're so flat. New Balance is the only sneaker I've found that has proper arch support.

Some of the Vans I saw yesterday at the shoe store looked cool, but I would never wear them because they are flat-footed shoes (originally made for skateboarding), providing little arch support, which is what my tired middle-aged dogs need.

OP, I hate people who say shit like this, but those are just too young for you. They'll come off as clownish. Black, white, or red would be okay, but that orange is too much.
They're cool on a 22-year-old, barely. On a 30-year-old they're annoying. On a 47-year-old they're sad.
They're "red hat lady" shoes on a gentleman your age.

OP you can wear anything you like, there are worse things to wear as a middle aged gay male. We are pretty much invisible to young gays at this stage so just wear whatever makes you feel good. If a pair of shoes makes you feel like you are young and attractive that's great, I believe that we are allowed to live in a world with just a little fantasy.

Middle aged men don't wear sneakers, especially red or blue ones.

I think it could work so long as they were a dark solid color, like black, navy blue, or charcoal. They also sell black leather vans with a black sole, and they look more like a regular shoe, and a bid dressier than the canvas versions. I also think a shoe looks more adult than the high top versions.

Do they make wide sizes? If so, the fatties will wear them.

Consider the high-heeled Guess sneakers for a bit of drama!

OP, your third poll option should have been "Vivian Vans."
