How much are these people dependent on gay guys to reach any level of success in their firvolous field of action?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 22, 2016 4:17 AM
|
To rise to the level of fitness modeling, not much. I would imagine even the biggest fitness models like the late Greg Plitt are supported by nutritional/protein companies. And with one or two exceptions (literally less than a handful), you can't make a living at it. So it's when they want to branch out to real modeling, acting, etc., they need gay support.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 22, 2016 4:33 AM
|
But not only gays for direct support meaning giving them money to afford the things they use to build muscle, I also mean gay supporitng their industry in an indirect way.I mean, it is no suprise that the whole muscle industry is all about iconography that is, they seel their bodies and an obejct of desire and there is not other way you can make muscles profittable.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 22, 2016 4:42 AM
|
That's a good question on what percentage of gay men buy nutritional products because they want to look like Fitness Models or buy fitness magazines. I would assume it's probably higher than the gay percentage in the general male population, but probably still well below 50%.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 22, 2016 5:02 AM
|
Just looking at the size of the guys on Gilles Crofta's instagram makes me a bit sad and sick at the same time. It seems you have to clearly be massively abusing roids to even book a photo shoot as a fitness model these days. I remember back in '07/'08 when fitness models had a more natural attainable aesthetic, hopefully the industry will cycle back to an aesthetic that is more natural looking.
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 55 | August 22, 2016 9:14 AM
|
Men want to be muscular because they want to embody the ideal of male attractiveness, strength, the alpha male, all this is inherently sexual. Men loos for muscles either to have them or to look at them. Muscles would mean nothing if it weren't for their sexual connotations of male nature. Gay men are known to be more appreciative of male beauty and muscularity than women so it is obvious gays and bisexual guys represent a great number in indirect supporters and sustainers of the muscle industry not only as your regular secret sponsor but also as the ones who buy the mags, the videos with nearly naked men looking at you with desire through the camera, guys buying all those suplements and clothes, paying their ticket to bodybuilding shows, conventions, etc.

I wonder why Sergi Constance became sort of a symbol of the so-called men's physique thing.
I'm not trying to dictate beauty, but his body isn't any more attractive than the bodies of other men who compete in his category. He is not ugly but his face isn't that of a model either.
I'm not trying to dictate what is beautiful and what not; I just wonder why all of a sudden he became famous for his looks even though there is nothing exceptially divine compared to other men's in his field.

Dear r53,
There are men who support muscles as an object of desire. But there are more men who support muscles as a way-of-life and desired trait. They pay for supplements, the fashion, the muscle mags and fitness guides so that they can ATTAIN muscles.
So no, it's not all about sex with the models. It's about getting strength and sex appeal for ourselves.

I can find the female body beautiful, but I certainly don't obsess over it.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | March 17, 2017 5:33 PM
|
But as a man, you might obsess over having the perfect abs or biceps and use other men as #gymspiration to obtain fitness or aesthetic #goals. We are living in the age of young men obsessing over body fat percentage, ripped abs, flexing, Instagram physique pics, and number of likes on social media. the Adonis Complex, Bigorexia, Aestethics physiques, and Dysmorphia are the norm.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | March 17, 2017 5:40 PM
|
Certainly you can obsess about having "perfect" abs and all that stuff, however, there's a blurry line between aspiring to have one of those bodies and being obsessed with other men's bodies. Certainly the line between mere athletic interest and erotic is very blurry and many times they intersect each other even whne claiming or implying heterosexuality.
Most of us may be out and have no problems to state our interest in men and the male body, but if there is something that is truth that is the fact that bodybuilding in modern times has worked in a compensatory way for repressed men to lust after the male body while still being able to retain a heterosexual identity to the public claiming only an athletic interest in the activity.

Even if they claim to be natural, the fitness and bodybuilding industries are incredibly vain and shallow so you are bound to use substances in a world where physical appearance is all that matters.
Even if I like muscled bodies I think these industries are psychologically exhausting and detrimental due to the fact that they emphasise physical appearance over other human traits that are more humbling and valuable.

Something interesting I notice is that psychologists tend to pathologise gay men regarding body image and that we feel pressure to achieve a fit/muscualr body in the "gay community"yet when you see most of bodybuilding advertisements and even Instagram what you see evocative of heterosexuality, thing like bodybuilders in erotic positions with women and stuff like that. All that directed at heterosexual men.

Just wondering...
If you were the boyfriend of any of these guys and he did webcam shows for money for other men and all that entails, how would you feel about it?
Just wondeirng because I was thinking how many girlfriends have to deal with that from their bodybuilder boyfriends.

I would be okay dating a fit bro who put up G rated pics at large on Instagram, but I would not date someone who did X-rated stuff or cam shows.

That's the thing with building a muscular body, you expect and want people to notice your body.

From time to time you come across these assholes.
Ufirtunately for those who like him, heps a homophobe. By chance encountered his discriminatory remakes against LGBT using the bible to back up his prejudices.
It is so contradictory that a bodybuilder can be a homophobe when all he does is flauntin his naked body around other men and let alone bodybuilding has homosexual roots.
Of course, he uses the bible to say homosexuality is a sin, but he ignores the passages that say that sensuality is work of the flesh thu a sin and that a man should always bcover his body parts decently and modestly.

I opened an IG to post random pics of muscle men and I have had guys lik Bryan Hawn and a friend of him as well as a homophobic bodybuilder liking the pics I upload.
It's the homophobic bodybuilder that confuses me considering the suggestiveness of the pics I upload.

I didn't know until I read one of his IG posts saying he believes in the bible, men and women are meant to be together and that gay men are not normal. Whenever his unaware gay fans comment on his looks he calls them gross.
Some have confronted him because there is a video of him doing webcam with nudity for gay men and apparently he also sells worn underwear to gay men. R421

He seems to be one of those Christians who don't really aspire to be good people, but rather one of those Christians who are very arrogant and self-centered who only use the bible to justify their biases and escalate in society through religious affiliation.
But he never applies the bible to scrutinise himself. Do you imaige if Jesus had been all about his own muslces and taking racy pics of himself? HEHE.

Luke Pearce is a 23-year-old fitness model who lives in New York and is represented by BMG Models. He recently graced the DNA cover and was the subject of an eight-page pictorial essay inside the glossy magazine.
Luke, you have such a wholesome, boy-next-door quality! And then along with that, you’re bringing us one of the sexiest bodies I’ve ever seen. It must’ve been a no-brainer that you could make it big as a fitness model. How did you first get into modeling, and how long have you been doing it? I first got into modeling back home in Alabama. I was getting into bodybuilding, and I started to get noticed for my look. So a photographer reached out to me, and it just blew up from there.
I know that most models supplement their modeling careers with other jobs. Do you do anything else to sustain yourself between magazine cover and romance novel shoots? Haha! Funny you should mention that. I have done a couple romance novel covers. That was a lot of fun. But, in answer to your question: Yes! I work as a full-time trainer at Equinox in Manhattan. I enjoy my work very much and take pride in seeing the progress my clients make. I use a weight-training technique called TUT: Time Under Tension. This method uses lighter weights and slower reps, which takes stress off the joints but feels like you’re using heavier weights!
What do you enjoy most about being a New Yorker? I enjoy that there is always something to do. It’s unlike anywhere else in the world! There’s always something going on.
How do you spend your spare time, although it doesn’t sound like you have very much of it? I enjoy exploring the city, traveling to new cities, seeing shows and playing sports. I love country music and being outdoors. I’m a big sports fan and root for the Atlanta Braves and the University of Alabama football team, the Crimson Tide!

[quote]I believe the modeling/ fashion industry can be hypocritical when it comes to promoting and championing the efforts of individuals who have the courage to be open about who they are. I cannot speak for everyone, but I myself have experienced and witnessed gay male models who do not "seem gay" be encouraged not to be open about who they are because it can be "dangerous for your career" and not "appealing to everyone". I want to get to the point where being gay is not an aesthetic but just a sexual orientation.
