Is Tom Selleck gay?

The fraus tell me I am crazy for saying that

by Anonymousreply 94April 6, 2020 4:38 AM

He does look good for a 70 year old

by Anonymousreply 1February 12, 2016 2:53 PM

He looks like an overly-stuffed sausage on the verge of bursting.

by Anonymousreply 2February 12, 2016 2:57 PM

The fraus tell you you're crazy for saying "Is Tom Selleck gay?"

by Anonymousreply 3February 12, 2016 2:58 PM

I've always thought Selleck was gay, and his ugly wife was his beard.

by Anonymousreply 4February 12, 2016 2:59 PM

The fraus said everyone who alleged Rock Hudson was gay was crazy too. And George Michael, and Elton John, and Ricky Martin . . .

by Anonymousreply 5February 12, 2016 2:59 PM

You just tell those fraus not to worry. I'm not gay and I'll be over there shortly to fuck each one of them.

by Anonymousreply 6February 12, 2016 3:03 PM

to continue from r5, and Lance Bass, and Clay Aiken, and Anderson Cooper...

by Anonymousreply 7February 12, 2016 3:06 PM

And Raymond Burr, Richard Chamberlain, Tab Hunter, Sal Mineo, ....

by Anonymousreply 8February 12, 2016 3:25 PM

Oh, you filthy homosexuals! How dare you accuse all these men of such a thing! Next you'll be accusing that sweet Jimmy Nabors and classy Liberace of the same sinfulness.

by Anonymousreply 9February 12, 2016 3:47 PM

Thanks to the Internet, hundreds of TV channels, music videos and dozens of movies being released every month, we now have WAY more celebrities than we've ever had at one time. Back in the late 1900s, though, there just weren't all that many, and the ones there were were pretty much true celebrities.

Gay guys, being gay guys, loved to fantasize about which hunky stars may or may not be gay. The studliest and most attractive celebrities were pretty much ALL labeled as gay at some point, regardless of whether they actually were. Topping the list were Tom Selleck and Mark Spitz. Hang around any gay bar in LA for a couple of hours in the 1970s-'80s and you'd hear someone talking about how they'd done Mark Spitz at an after-hours party, or had seen Tom Selleck go down on two dudes at a Beverly Hills mansion. Or something. The better looking the celebrity, the more talk there was about him being gay.

Other people "positively" identified as being gay, but who by all accounts probably weren't, included Tom Brokaw, Burt Reynolds, Ryan O'Neal, Kent McCord, John Schneider and baseball players Steve Garvey, Keith Hernandez and Jose Canseco. And lots of others.

Of course there were Rock Hudson, George Maharis, Johnny Ray and George Michael, all of whom eventually proved to be gay, but that knowledge didn't exactly come as a surprise to anyone.

As long as there are extremely attractive celebrities, there is going to be speculation (i.e., wishful thinking) that those celebrities are gay. (I'm lookin' at YOU, Matt Gutman, I don't care if you ARE straight!)

[quote]He looks like an overly-stuffed sausage on the verge of bursting.

PIc of that?

by Anonymousreply 11February 12, 2016 4:16 PM

r10 There have been many rumors about Tom Selleck being gay, many people also here on dl said they saw him in gay bathhouses, or that they know of him having had boyfriends and casual gay sex in Hawaii back then and later on, people tend not to lie about such things, with gay stuff even more so, and e.g. the A-list was a site that had good gossip, they said he is an FOD, didn't use the gay word for legal reasons. And Magnum is a role a gay guy could have played well, Selleck also shied away from the tougher and more public movie business, he is a bit of an underachiever and played rather complicated roles, not simple and straight. I think he comes from a privileged background and was on a boarding school, many gay guys from rich families have family and are closeted.

by Anonymousreply 12February 12, 2016 4:17 PM

He filmed a movie with my roommate's girlfriend back in 2009. Apparently, he was hitting on her, from what my roommate told me.

I don't know if he's into men or not, but he's certainly into women.

by Anonymousreply 13February 12, 2016 4:21 PM

r13 I wonder what that fugly wife, Julie, would think?

by Anonymousreply 14February 12, 2016 4:23 PM

And I'm the dame who'll prove it.

by Anonymousreply 15February 12, 2016 4:29 PM

Of course, it could be my roommate's girlfriend's imagination that Selleck was hitting on her. But I guess she was about 45 at the time, and Selleck was about 64, so I guess she still would have been attractive to a man that age, and probably more realistically attainable than some of the other younger women on the set. Although, if I recall correctly, I think my roommate said that Selleck was hitting on all the women, not just the girlfriend.

by Anonymousreply 16February 12, 2016 4:29 PM

There have been at least three different posters here at DL who have had sex with Tom Selleck, all men. They have been very specific on his likes and tastes (versatile, treats you well, but just wants the sex, not a relationship). I knew someone in Fire Island who everyone knew to be his boyfriend back in the very early 80's. I think these stories are as credible as if not better proof of his sexual proclivities than "my girlfriend thinks he was flirting with her..."

by Anonymousreply 17February 12, 2016 4:35 PM

can we lay off the wife?

she's not having sex with him anymore than the rest of us are

by Anonymousreply 18February 12, 2016 4:38 PM

Yes, R17, but this "girlfriend" was a co-star of his.

by Anonymousreply 19February 12, 2016 4:59 PM

It was well known in the 1980s that she had a long time husband and also that she suffers from tinymeat.

by Anonymousreply 20February 12, 2016 5:07 PM

Please, I did plenty of stage work (including Broadway) and had plenty of co-stars and castmates of the opposite sex whom I heavily flirted with. I even had sex with a handful and no I'm not bisexual. I'm a certified cock-sucking, asshole eating, cumloving maricón since age 15.

by Anonymousreply 21February 12, 2016 5:08 PM

How can you watch Magnum PI and not realize that Magnum is a kept man, Higgins' boy toy? Did people not pick up on that back in the day?

He gave him a fucking Ferrari to drive for God's sake.

by Anonymousreply 22February 12, 2016 5:15 PM

If you think sucking cock, and eating and fucking ass are gay then yes.

by Anonymousreply 23February 12, 2016 5:17 PM

He is. I worked for Polo back in the 80's, and it was well-known that he had a thing for one of the department managers there, and would often come in to the store to try to pick him up. He never succeeded.

by Anonymousreply 24February 12, 2016 5:18 PM

After Tom and I had gay sex, I asked him if there's any substance to the rumors that he's gay. He scoffed and said that the tabloids love to write scandalous things like that. As he wiped his anus with a towel he said I shouldn't pay any credence to it at all and he was as hetero as the next three hetero guys all rolled into one. He thought about three guys rolled all into one for a few seconds, and asked me if I wanted to have gay sex again. I said I did.

by Anonymousreply 25February 12, 2016 6:23 PM

q: is he? a: no.

by Anonymousreply 26February 12, 2016 6:40 PM

I usually don't believe the rumors except for those hiding in plain sight (Wentworth Miller, Lance Bass for ages), but Selleck is the motherfucking ideal of the Tom of Finland Leather Daddy look and I can't see how he would resist all offers.

by Anonymousreply 27February 12, 2016 7:03 PM

[quote]people tend not to lie about such things

Is this your first time on the Internet?

by Anonymousreply 28February 12, 2016 7:03 PM

Contradiction in terms, R12.

by Anonymousreply 32February 12, 2016 8:09 PM

He is straight, fellas. Sorry to burst your 99 luftballoons.

by Anonymousreply 33February 12, 2016 8:15 PM

One thing I know for sure is Betty White's only husband, Allen Ludden was Gay. A trusted friend of mine was house sitting next door in Beverly Hills in the early 70's. He looked over the fence and Ludden was on his knees sucking off his well hung Latino Stud gardener. He passed shortly thereafter from a massive coronary. There is no reason to doubt my friend's story. He is still in the acting business as well.

by Anonymousreply 34February 12, 2016 8:23 PM

I can hear R34 woppiing to that story from England.

by Anonymousreply 35February 12, 2016 8:25 PM

A friend of mine (male) now deceased, had sex with Selleck in the 1980s.

by Anonymousreply 36February 12, 2016 8:48 PM

[quote]Selleck also shied away from the tougher and more public movie business

To the contrary, he actively sought a film career and eventually had some success though he never became A list. In the 1970s, he was Spielberg's first choice for Indiana Jones and Spielberg and Selleck tried to negotiate a temporary release from Magnum PI for him with the show's producers so he could do the part. The producers eventually refused (to the fury of Selleck and Spielberg) and second choice Harrison Ford got the part.

And of course he is. Well known "secret" for over 40 years. Allegedly his mousey chorus girl wife didn't find out until several years into the marriage and she was furious that she was being used as a beard. In the end, though, after major incentive$ were offered, she decided to look the other way and continue to enjoy the perks of being Mrs. Tom Selleck, A list TV star, B+ list film star.

by Anonymousreply 37February 12, 2016 9:43 PM

I hope not. He's a disgusting Republican.

by Anonymousreply 38February 12, 2016 9:44 PM

^ Sorry, early 1980s, not 1970s for Indiana Jones. Typo.

by Anonymousreply 39February 12, 2016 9:51 PM

Where are the "he's straight!!!" trolls for Tom Selleck? They just happen to appear for young attractive males, not old attractive males.

by Anonymousreply 40February 12, 2016 9:57 PM

This is one I know for sure. He is gay but some might say he is bi. He has had long sexual relationships with men when he was young. I don't know who he fucks now but when he was young, he was gay.

by Anonymousreply 41February 12, 2016 10:03 PM

Why deny the truth...nothing is wrong with being gay but the bearding, that kind of bothers me.

by Anonymousreply 42February 12, 2016 10:13 PM

Uh, Allen Ludden died of cancer, Genius.

by Anonymousreply 43February 12, 2016 10:29 PM

So did blowing huge latino cock cause this cancer for poor Allen Ludden or did the Latino cock sucking lead to a heart attack that caused said cancer? I'm confused.

by Anonymousreply 44February 12, 2016 10:50 PM

Tom is straight.

What is it that gets you boys off by thinking that he is gay?

by Anonymousreply 45February 12, 2016 11:43 PM

It doesn't get me off thinking he's gay. It sort of turns my stomach, to be honest.

by Anonymousreply 46February 13, 2016 12:07 AM

Perhaps he is bi, but he was most certainly acting out his gay side when he was in Hawaii shooting Magnum PI. I know a guy who dated him back then. They used to take trips together and Tom would refuse to sit together on the plane, which would piss this guy off. Hearing that made me grin because the guy Selleck dated is a complete douchebag.

by Anonymousreply 48February 13, 2016 12:23 AM

Why is that R46?

by Anonymousreply 49February 13, 2016 12:28 AM

It didn't help Selleck's macho image that he was the archetypical "Castro clone"--mustache, flannel shirt, Levi's 501s, waffle stomper boots. His look was what a huge number of young gays and gays-in-training wanted to emulate.

by Anonymousreply 50February 13, 2016 12:57 AM

Yes, I always thought he had the mustache clone look

by Anonymousreply 51February 13, 2016 1:03 AM

His hair in that Winston ad is two inches too long for Castro/West of Seventh cloneitude.

by Anonymousreply 52February 13, 2016 1:07 AM

Alan Ludden was most definitely gay. He picked up a friend who was hitch hiking from UCLA on Sunset and came on to him. Gave him his biz card and wrote his private number on the back. I saw the card.

In the early 80s, I was chosen by Tom Selleck to ride on an elephant with him at the Michigan State Fair. I am female and was about 7. He was nice and when it was over my mom said he chose me because she wasn't gaga over him like the other mothers. I asked why she didn't think he was hot. She said not her type and g-a-y. She and her friend laughed and didn't realize I knew what she meant and could spell. Never forgot that day.

by Anonymousreply 55February 13, 2016 1:53 AM

Didn't a supermarket tabloid recently run an article about him supposedly getting a divorce? I didn't read the article. When I went back to the store the issue was gone. Anyone read it?

Okay, so assuming he is a FOD, what type of man does he go for, either then or now?

by Anonymousreply 61February 13, 2016 2:01 AM

I don't know why that person is here lying because Tom Select IS gay. The only person who should mind, is his wife. And I rather doubt that she minds...what is he? 64?

by Anonymousreply 62February 13, 2016 2:04 AM

Some Upper East Side 20-something has posted about knowing Selleck is gay and that his wife and him have an arrangement. The poster's parents are friends with Selleck. It was about a year ago that he was talking about it.

by Anonymousreply 63February 13, 2016 2:20 AM

R34, Alan Ludden was Betty White's third husband. Ludden was a widower with two children. He really pursued her. I read she didn't want to marry again as she feared a third divorce.

by Anonymousreply 64February 13, 2016 2:29 AM

I heard from a producer on one of Tom's films that he is straight.

by Anonymousreply 65February 13, 2016 3:06 AM

His face looks like crixivan and restylane.

by Anonymousreply 66February 13, 2016 8:53 AM

by Anonymousreply 69February 13, 2016 11:15 AM

Face it kids - there are plenty of first-hand, credible stories here backing Selleck's attraction to men, and only a handful of rebuttals which consist of:

a) A poster saying he's straight over and over while insulting gay men here, to see if it sticks

b) "His producer said so..."

c) "My girlfriend thought he was flirting with her..."

BTW, r55, love your elephant story

by Anonymousreply 70February 13, 2016 11:20 AM

I have personally met 3 different men who stated they'd had sex with Selleck. None of them knew the others, and all of their stories were consistent with what I've heard elsewhere. Selleck was passive, allowed them to service him, either j.o. or oral, but did not reciprocate, and had no interest in repeats.

Though Selleck had a great physical image, I always felt his voice made him seem like a wuss. Just not the kind of lower-register male voice one would have expected from a man with such a look. This, plus the fact that his performances have always included a self-deprecating element of rueful introspection, also not an aspect of the typical leading man. When he made a couple of westerns with fellow hot looker Sam Elliott, Selleck looked great, but Elliott's presence was far more masculine, IMHO anyway.

In his early work, Selleck was just another aspiring model-actor, who has a bit appearance in the Fox bomb, MYRA BRECKENRIDGE.

by Anonymousreply 75February 18, 2016 1:05 PM

Seems like this thread pops up every now and then. I've posted in past threads about this, but I used to be friends with a lesbian who worked in London's West End theater district. I lived in England back then but fell out of touch with her after I moved back to the US. She worked on the technical side of the theater but was very affable and became friends with many stars. She had lots of good gossip back in the day (early 90s). She said that it was well known in the West End that Selleck is gay and he had an arrangement with Jillie Mack, his wife. She also said the wife is a lesbian, so it was a double-bearding situation.

My former friend was right about other stars being gay. The one I remember the most was she said Kelly McGillis was a lesbian back in 1990. At least at that point, I had never heard any such gossip, and we all know McGillis has come out publicly. She also said Sarah Douglas from Falcon Crest was a lesbian. Not sure if Douglas has ever come out, but I've heard that from others over the years who have been accurate in their gossip.

by Anonymousreply 76February 18, 2016 2:27 PM

So, how did they know about his supposed gayness? Was he sexually active? Did they just assume it? What proof did they have?

Don't know about being gay, but he has a physical problem. A few months ago, "Blue Bloods" was shooting in Jackson Heights, Queens. The Location Scout liked a house, but told the owner it couldn't be used because Selleck doesn't do stairs. Then I paid attention, he's always standing or sitting on the show.

by Anonymousreply 79February 19, 2016 2:34 PM

Yes I have heard he's going to quit blue bloods R79.

by Anonymousreply 80January 21, 2017 4:31 PM

How often does he have to dye that hair, eyebrows, and mustache? Every 3 days? High maintenance.

by Anonymousreply 81January 21, 2017 4:58 PM

He is a gay man but I don't know who he is involved with right now. Many people know him and know he is gay.

by Anonymousreply 82June 13, 2017 7:02 PM

He's not a good enough actor to pull off his character in In and Out unless he was gay. And he did pull it off.

He's on the Board of Directors of the NRA; he stole water during the California water crisis; he's rabid right Republican. I saw him be very rude to a group of fans who had been waiting for hours in the rain to see him. I just can't like him. Gay or not gay.

by Anonymousreply 83June 13, 2017 8:12 PM

I don't think he's gay. But I do think he's had a few dicks in his mouth.

by Anonymousreply 84June 13, 2017 8:16 PM

[R10} Your point is well taken. I always wondered why Yasser Arafat or Sammy Davis, Jr. were never speculated about...LOL if people don't want to be on your team why insist? by Anonymousreply 87August 10, 2018 7:50 PM

A while back when some of the gay rumors started circulating, Selleck made the statement, "There's not a man alive who can claim he had sex with me!' which made me think he must have lost a lot of lovers to AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 88August 10, 2018 8:07 PM

speculation on his sexuality, seems to be no different from people speculating on the sexuality of Wentworth Miller! When the rumors started about him, he was in complete denial! (I think he was quoted as saying he likes women and has a girlfriend!). It's o.k. with me that any celeb. suspected of being gay, chooses to deny it, but to put on the act that they date women and do the pda thing with them is too much! There are other 'suspects' who respond that their personal life is their own business: 'Next question?'

by Anonymousreply 89October 22, 2019 5:28 PM

As recent as ten years ago he was a hot daddy. Now, he's a bit too old for my liking, but in his youth he was pure walking sex. Hopefully he's experimented with some lucky bros.

He doesn't look like he's aged well over the last few years. I remember he still looked good in 'In & Out', then I looked it up and realized that was 23 years ago!! BTW: Kevin Kline is also showing his age, but not as badly.

Also, damn getting old sucks.
