Who was the hottest Golden Girls guest star?

My money's on Jake, the hunky caterer whom Blanche briefly dated in a season 2 episode, before dumping him because of his lack of social graces.

Donnelly Rhodes was hot back in the Soap days, as well.

There was just something about him...

by Anonymousreply 6January 31, 2016 1:49 PM

I remember being hot for Jake from the first time I saw that episode as a teenager. And I remember thinking, Blanche considers herself a slut?

I'd do Daddy Jake now and I'd have done Daddy Jake then regardless of his job or social background...

by Anonymousreply 7January 31, 2016 1:53 PM

I can't recall anyone remotely hot, though Mario Lopez grew into someone hot.

by Anonymousreply 11January 31, 2016 2:10 PM

Damn R1 I never knew he looked like that!

by Anonymousreply 12January 31, 2016 2:13 PM

Dorothy's son, Michael. For the longest time I thought it was two different actors playing him. He looked so different from the hippy look in the episode when he slept with Rose's daughter than the clean shaven look in the episodes where he married the black woman.

Also the guy who married Dorothy's daughter in one of the first episodes from season 1.

by Anonymousreply 13January 31, 2016 2:17 PM

R6 Agreed. I've never been into blondes, but Casey Sander is very hot. He was also a regular on "Grace Under Fire," and occasionally shows up as Bernadette's father on "Big Bang."

by Anonymousreply 14January 31, 2016 4:58 PM

[quote]Another one is Mark Moses from "An Illegitimate Concern". His VPL was so in-your-face throughout the entire episode that it was as if he intentionally didn't wear underwear.

R3 - Oh, YEAH! Forgot about Mark Moses in that ep. His (rather high waisted) jeans were pretty tight. He looked so hot in that ep. He had that probably-played-football-in-college physique. Thick in all the right places. I still think Moses is a handsome guy. Interestingly, of all the random GG guest stars, he's had a remarkably prolific career. He's never been a big name, but he's worked so consistently, so frequently that I wouldn't be surprised if he's amassed a small fortune from all his gigs. One of those I-know-his-face character actors. Loved him in Mad Men and Homeland.

by Anonymousreply 15January 31, 2016 9:38 PM

Call me crazy, but I liked Chick Vennera, who played both Enrique Mas and Pepe the boxer..

by Anonymousreply 16January 31, 2016 10:09 PM

[quote]Dorothy's son, Michael. For the longest time I thought it was two different actors playing him. He looked so different from the hippy look in the episode when he slept with Rose's daughter than the clean shaven look in the episodes where he married the black woman.

R21 is right, it's Scott Jacoby--the eldest of the Jacoby acting brothers (his brother Billy has been in a ton of movies and TV shows and played Blanche's smartalec grandson in the "On Golden Girls" episode, and Bobby was in the movie "Tremors").

by Anonymousreply 25February 1, 2016 5:51 AM

Hal Linden really was gorgeous when he played Dorothy's old fling.

by Anonymousreply 26February 1, 2016 5:53 AM

R15 Mark's brother, Burke Moses, also had a successful acting career, mainly on the stage. He originated the role of Gaston in Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST on Broadway. I also remember seeing him in an episode of THE NANNY, where he played Fran's boyfriend who turns out to be in the mafia, and she freaks. haha! nAnyway, he's very tall and beefy. Just my type!

Maybe not the hottest, but definitely one of the funniest: the gay caterer from the "Sophia's Wedding" episode in Season 4. He played the caterer again in the "There Goes the Bride" episode in Season 6.

Donnelly Rhodes, Chick Vennera and Edward Winter all came immediately to mind. I rewatch the entire episodes these men appeared in. I'm glad I'm in good company here. Did America know the Golden Girls had a huge gay following when the series was on NBC?

Chick Vennera did a full-frontal shower scene in the movie "Yanks" before he was cast in the Golden Girls. He was so hot and hairy; I'm getting a stiffy just thinking about it.

FUN FACT: Alex Rocco played Bea Arthur in the FAMILY GUY episode "Ready, Willing and Disabled," where Peter makes movie about Joe's paraplegia and how Peter trained him to go for the gold at the Special Olympics. He casts Tony Danza (voicing himself) to play Joe, Valerie Bertinelli (voicing herself) as Lois, and Bea Arthur (voiced by Rocco) as Peter.

by Anonymousreply 75February 2, 2016 6:35 PM

Donnelly Rhodes was the hottest for me. Loved him on Soap, too, as Dutch. I also liked Leslie Nielsen as Uncle Lucas. I've always thought Leslie was a handsome silver daddy. I liked Ken Howard, too. So fall and beefy, and I bet he was packing! Lastly, the bear from the three friends in the island episode. He was standing around in his towel showing off his bear physique and hairy chest.

by Anonymousreply 76February 2, 2016 6:51 PM

How soon we forget Miles, Harold Gould, who remained a very good looking Daddy well into his Golden Guys years. He had a varied very long career in movies and TV and always looked fine with his slim build nicely filling out the clothes he wore.

Enrique Más. He has all that gorgeous black hair and those swarthy Latin good looks and the sexy way he rolls his r's -- Enrrrrrrrrique! Boy, I'd love to get him on a couch made out of Corinthian leather.

by Anonymousreply 89April 7, 2016 12:34 AM

I just saw the Blind Ambition episode this morning, and I'd like to nominate the dimpled cutie Dorothy argues with about the hockey stick at the garage sale.

The garage sale that was Blanche's idea, btw, yet a few seasons later the very thought of Rose having a garage sale sends her into a big ole tizz.
