The Mapplethorpe Foundation controlled the life rights and gave Dushku permission to pursue a film project nearly a decade ago. She's been trying to get this film made since 2007. Clearly they think she's got a passion for the subject and she presented herself in such a way that they feel confident she'll do justice to Mapplethorpe. The actors have zero to do with any of that.

None of you saw Ondi Timoner's first film, Dig!? It was fantastic. It's a documentary that follows two bands that I loved from the 90's - The Dandy Warhols and Brian Jonestown Massacre - as one band gains a spotlight and MTV popularity, and the other sort of flounders and crashes due to their maddening frontman, the fascinating Anton Newcomb. It was a great first feature. I'm excited to see her do a story like this, I think you guys are jumping the gun to imply it's going to be all about Patti. Seriously, watch the way her camera follows around Anton in Dig! - she will know how to do Mapplethorpe justice. She knows how to film brilliant, outspoken, magnetic assholes.

Just Google it, Unfortunately I can't remember his name, his bio was much more shocking than the Morrisroe biography.
