My grandfather went to elementary-high school with him (Billy beedle was his name then), and he said in a round about way that Billy developed his drinking problem probably due to the pressure of being in the closet, and that Billy also likely used the drunk thing as sort of a "dude, I got so wasted last night, I don't remember what happened" way of hooking up.
