Whatever Happened to Soloflex?

Mine, from 1994, is in my basement.

It was the super-fucking hot guys that got me to spend two grand on a clotheshanger/cat tree.

by Anonymousreply 46August 25, 2019 6:43 AM

I LOVED those commercials! I would yell to the cat "It's the Soloflex commercial!!" And drool over the insanely hot man!

by Anonymousreply 1December 29, 2015 2:45 AM

Wasn't Scott Madsen jailed for fraud awhile back ? (not related to Soloflex)

by Anonymousreply 2December 29, 2015 2:46 AM

Did the cat drool, too, R1?

by Anonymousreply 3December 29, 2015 2:48 AM

Op, why don't you start using it again?

by Anonymousreply 4December 29, 2015 2:49 AM

[R3] Yes she did. She was a gorgeous Russian Blue who liked hot men. ;)

by Anonymousreply 5December 29, 2015 2:51 AM

Oh, I'm so allergic to those blue cats. I touch one, and itchy blisters form on my face. They're so pretty, too.

by Anonymousreply 6December 29, 2015 2:53 AM

by Anonymousreply 7December 29, 2015 2:55 AM

We were drooling, too, R7.

by Anonymousreply 8December 29, 2015 2:58 AM

My dick started to hurt because I jerked off so much to the Soloflex ads.

by Anonymousreply 9December 29, 2015 2:59 AM

Jesus, those guys were so hot. I can't believe the company went under. What happened?

by Anonymousreply 10December 29, 2015 3:00 AM

[R8] My Russian Blue and your Maine Coon would have made the most gorgeous kittens!

If I had had the money back in the 90's, I would have bought one of these. Those abs are to die for!

by Anonymousreply 11December 29, 2015 3:02 AM

I owned one. It was effective, but it never felt 'right'. The original model is currently $1650, before a 20% discount. I think mine was $499, shipped.

Supposedly, this guy was a homo.

Scott Madsen, Soloflex dude of the eighties.

by Anonymousreply 13December 29, 2015 5:21 AM

He was married and had kids as I remember. I met him in the Castro in the 90's while he was doing a book signing. He wasn't gay then but he may have converted while in jail. He truly was beautiful in the same way as Tom Welling.

by Anonymousreply 14December 29, 2015 8:18 AM

I still have those brochures from 1982 when I was an undergrad in Seattle. Told myself I'd make a pilgrimage to Hillsboro Oregon to see Soloflex's HQ. That was perhaps my way of masking my inner desire for Scott Madsen. By the time I made it to Hillsboro, some 25-30 years later, Hillsboro was no longer a sleepy town out in the woods. I wonder what Scott is up to these days or what he looks like. Wasn't he supposed to have a movie deal with Bo Derek?

by Anonymousreply 15December 29, 2015 8:49 AM

Loved those commercials with their 1980s softcore erotic thriller made-for-cable movie aesthetic.

by Anonymousreply 16December 29, 2015 9:11 AM

I saw the adds for soloflex in magazines and thought Scott Madsen was the right model for this product and did a superb job of demonstrating it. I met him at a convention center in the San Francisco Bay area where a lot items were being advertised and displayed. I shook hands with him and replied that Soloflex definitely made the right choice by choosing him to model and demonstrate their product. It sold quite well nation wide and in Canada plus other outlying areas. I also noticed he modeled for numerous items such as men's closing etc. Un fortunately he contracted meningoc Cal meningitis at age 27 in1987 and almost died then. In the hands of great doctors he lived approximately thirty more years. I was saddened see him be sentenced to two years at Sea Sea Tac detention center for embezzlement from Adair finances. (His uncles business). I entered a statement in the condolence book which I ordered one after his passing on MARCH 16 2015. $cott will be remembered by me for his success in modeling. Please let Scott rest in peace. I feel bad that so many people out there made bad statements about him. I strongly believe those people simply envious of the good things he succeeded in.

It was a great tool, the bands were the issue, they broke but Soloflex always replaced them for free.

The problem was once you hit a certain point, over 200lbs, you couldn't stack the band right, as there wasn't enough room. This wasn't a problem since most people quit long before they got to that level.

I jerked off to that pic constantly as a teenager. Scott was so fucking hot.

by Anonymousreply 22February 2, 2017 5:22 AM

Scott was a very talented individual, a great gymnast and he stayed in good very good physical shape. He stuck to a good diet and took good advice from his physical fitness instructors and coaches in varsity sports that he participated in and it paid off very well for him. He had a great physique simply because stayed with it. As many of you know he was a table waiter at the Fish House restaurant there in Hillsboro he sees an add in a local news paper for gymnast wanted to model for Soloflex fitness equipment company which came to Hillsboro from Clovis New Mexico. He went to the site listed in the paper to audition for the job along with quite a few others and he was chosen to model and demonstrate the product. The sales of the machines sold very well all over the US,Canada and other out lying areas as well. Many people out there are envious of him because he did so well. Many people say things it doesn't take every fat thing out there and make a all of them a super stud like Scott. All I got to say if it's sitting in your garage or basement being used for a tool rack or a clothes hanger along with a bad diet let's face it you're not going to resemble Scott or any other gymnast. So get all of those tools and clothes off of it and use it along with a proper diet ant all of that will change. Lee Davison Coronado California 1March 2017

I remember ordering the free video promo in the '80s. It was a 30-minute VHS tape of him (and a gal) working out! Pre-porn material.

And here it is!

I bought two in one lifetime: both of them at the request of my partner at the time.

by Anonymousreply 26March 2, 2017 12:43 PM

Whoever keeps posting that he died, go away. He's not 50-something. The exact same comment can be found on one of the articles that comes up when you search for his name.

by Anonymousreply 27March 2, 2017 2:17 PM

Answer to comment # 27 you need to do the research by going to the respective websiteso and see for yourself about Scott Madsen the former model for soloflex. He grew up in Hillsboro Oregon and attended the Clover Park high school and graduated in the class of 1975 then enrolled in a college in Wisconsin where he dropped out later on. He was a table waiter at the Fish House restaurant where he saw the classified adds gymnast wanted to model and demonstrate the Soloflex home gym equipment that relocated to Hillsboro Oregon from Clovis New Mexico. He went to site to audition along with others competing for the job and Scott was chosen. Soloflex certainty made the right choice The fitness machines sold like hot cakes throughout the US, Canada and other out lying areas. At age 27 in 1987 he contracted meningoccall meningitis and almost died. Great doctors were abokle to extend his life approximately 30 years (look up meningococcal meningitis Scott'severin story listed under Scott Madsen former model for soloflex contracts meningococcal meningitis). Scott is hired by his uncle at Adair finances (his uncle's business) as general manager and later on he imbezzeles approximately 250,00 dollars from Adair finances. Then Judge Mosman of Portland Oregon sentences Scott to Sea Tac federal penitentiary for 2years. Look it up former Soloflex model sentenced to prison in 2010. Later he is released at age 54 then at age 57 SCOTT passed away at age 57 November 16th 2015. Look up Scott Madsen Obituary 2015. I bought a condolence book in his honor. So please do your researchrespectfully.

this thread got creepy fast

by Anonymousreply 29May 14, 2017 2:23 AM

Didn't they have an ad with two Marines in it?

by Anonymousreply 30May 14, 2017 2:27 AM

Lee Davison pointedly ignored the question that we would most like to be answered.

by Anonymousreply 31May 14, 2017 2:32 AM

I brought it. I think it was $999. I used it like twice. It became a clothes hanger yes. I sold it to some guy for $250. He was estatic to get it. I just wanted someone to move it out of my apartment. I was moving from a third floor walk up to another 3rrd floor walk up and wasn't about to take it with me.

I'm tempted to write in the remembrance book that Scott gave me a lot of enjoyment as a teen, but that's probably not a good idea.

by Anonymousreply 37May 14, 2017 6:29 AM

Look very closely at the pic at r21, especially the shapes formed by the shadows and contours of the ab muscles.

Apparently, they were doctored to create a subliminal image.

As with these types of images, if I tell you, it'll be the only thing you see. You need to find it for yourselves. No one actually ever confirmed one way or the other (the last time I bothered to check), but the debate was whether it was purposeful subliminal message or Rorschach test.

by Anonymousreply 38May 14, 2017 8:05 AM

Someone(comment # 31)asked well was he? I think you are asking was he gay? If that's your question I would say no based on the fact that he was a father of two children. He lived in Supprise Arizona for a while where he contracted meningoccall meningitis and came close to death but some great doctors were able to extend his life approximately 30 years (he survived this very life threatening disease as mentioned previously. He went through divorce proceedings. OK in his modeling career he posed node on a merry-go-round horse which sold like crazy and you know as well as I it made all of the gays bars in San Francisco and other cities with a gay population. It did mention he was getting 5000 dollars a day for some on his modeling calls. Would you turn down money like that? It said the gays worshoshoped him because of that poster. That doesn't mean that he's gay by no means. As said this is not publicity he cared for. But then again would you turn down 5000 dollars a day especially in 1984s economy and work maybe two hours for that pose? I know I wouldn't would you? Now what the poster was used for he had no control of. Netherworld money ranks BS walks enough said.

by Anonymousreply 39May 14, 2017 2:39 PM

What was the cause of desth?

by Anonymousreply 40June 26, 2017 8:46 AM

R38, Is the subliminal image of r21 of words (like the Disney "sex") or an object (like a body part)?

by Anonymousreply 41June 26, 2017 9:31 AM

He's not dead.

by Anonymousreply 42August 25, 2019 2:54 AM

The workout infomercials I remember were from the early 90s for solo flex. Was that Scott too? Dude was fucking hot.

by Anonymousreply 43August 25, 2019 2:57 AM

That obit is not the same Scott Madsen.

by Anonymousreply 44August 25, 2019 3:23 AM

Whoever “Lee Davison Coronado, CA” is...he is a fucking emotional freak. Recreating some model’s health history & timeline up until death and then buying a condolence book, all for the wrong guy.

by Anonymousreply 45August 25, 2019 3:41 AM

Were they any good? I wasted a lot of gym hours in Nautilus too. It was not until I discovered free weights that I packed on the muscles and became a sex god.

Yeah but Scott was hotttt.
