R1 beat me to it

by Anonymousreply 9December 17, 2015 10:23 PM

R1, I love putting together playlists, and this is by far one of the most effortless ones I've done.

by Anonymousreply 10December 17, 2015 10:30 PM

Curious, why are you putting late Streisand instead of something from her far superior early albums?

by Anonymousreply 11December 17, 2015 10:51 PM

I like the song, and I like that album. No particular reason other than that. What song would you replace it with? "Sleeping Bee" or "Cry Me a River" were my first thoughts, but I'm not in love with her version of the latter.

or

These Tunez Are Made For Walkering

by Anonymousreply 23December 18, 2015 12:22 AM

Ooh...I love this game. Make playlists all the time. I would call it Stormy Weather, but would probably add a song or two (Autumn Leaves...When the Sun Comes Out...Come Rain or Come Shine...Ill Wind You're Blowin' Me No Good)...just to play with the weather theme.

There's a couple of songs on this I've never heard. Gonna go listen now. Thanks OP.

Cliches and Rainbows

The Twink That Got Away

by Anonymousreply 27December 18, 2015 2:42 PM

Pretentious white guy would be a good title.

Seriously you picked out songs that are mediocre and artists that had no real talent for the most part but were considered "hip and cool" at least for their time.

by Anonymousreply 28December 18, 2015 3:02 PM

Songs I liked better by other singers.

by Anonymousreply 29December 18, 2015 3:15 PM

Songs of Shite

Anyone who has Stormy Weather by Lena Horne doesn't know any of her far superior recordings.

These are my favorite titles:

Middlebrow Memories (I think this might be my favorite)

Bourgeois Blue Notes

Menopause and Mist

Sophisticated Sad Sack

Gay and Moody (although this could be the title of several other playlists of mine)

by Anonymousreply 36December 18, 2015 7:22 PM

Ancient Queen MegaMix

by Anonymousreply 37December 18, 2015 7:28 PM

Nothing with Bessie Smith is middlebrow.

How about "List to Invite DL Razzes,"

since it seems the purpose of the thread?

by Anonymousreply 38December 18, 2015 7:30 PM

Hey, OP has a sense of humor and can take a little ribbing.

by Anonymousreply 39December 18, 2015 7:33 PM

No, R38. I actually thought most DLers would appreciate it. I started an Ella Fitzgerald thread a couple of years ago that was received very warmly, as was one discussing classic vocalists of the 1930s-50s.

by Anonymousreply 40December 18, 2015 7:34 PM

"MP3 Don'ts"
