Blind Item Bitch
This A-list actress is talented and versatile. She’s no Lucille Ball, but she can do comedy. She’s no Katherine Hepburn, but she can do drama. She’s a good performer all around, but her attitude gets worse and worse. She has such an ego on her that she believes she’s one of the greatest actresses of all time and has convinced herself that she’ll eventually win more Academy Awards than Meryl. I wouldn’t mind if she treated those around her with respect, but she treats the extras and the staff on set like serfs in her serfdom, and don’t bother approaching her if you’re a fan for an autograph of a picture. Unless she’s in a VERY good mood, she’ll decline in curt terms and walk away. Who is she?

I thought of Jennifer Lawrence primarily for the [ convinced herself that she’ll eventually win more Academy Awards than Meryl] part. Jennifer Lawrence has received 1 oscar and numerous nominations in her 3-4 years of being a name. No other actress who is currently relevant has an image that would be noteworthy of making a blind item about. American Blind might be a twofold reference to J-law's involvement in American Hustle and that American's are blind to her bitchy side since she's marketed as a down-to-earth / all-american girl who happens to be an actress.

Since the tag is "American Blind"--I think they must mean Sandra Bullock, who won her oscar for Blind Side. I hope it's not true because I've always been a fan and she seems really down-to-earth and charming when she's interviewed. I'm surprised I'm the only one to point out the obviousness of this clue since I don't usually get these.

I'd say Hathaway, don't know how much she really wants to win several Oscars though, and of course with Blanchett that Meryl-beating and one of the greatest thingy is much more realistic, self-awareneness and education and thoughtfulness aren't one of Hathaway's strenghts though. Comparing her a bit to a modern day Lucille Ball and of course more a modern day Katherine Hepburn makes sense though, and she can do comedy and drama, don't think Blanchett is very much into comedy, and she is more of an action gal. Hathaway is a theatre gal and kind of a trooper and she is a good overall performer and triple threatish, also triple threatish in movies, theatre, TV, also triplesexual.

It has to be JLaw. She is the only one young enough and with enough nominations already to think she is in the running with Streep. Bullock is too old to catch up. Reese is getting past her sell date. And Blanchett is, as others have already noted, a truly great actress.

It's not JLaw/Witherspoon/Bullock as they've all always been pretty nice to fans asking for autographs. I've seen them in public before and all were super nice.
Wouldn't be Anna Kendrick either. When she visits Maine she always goes to local bars and the local mall (I've known her since our teens). She is waaaaaaaaaaay down to Earth and basically just a normal girl. Always cracking sex jokes/having a dirty sense of humor.

I think it's meant to be Jennifer Lawrence. Don't know if it's true though. I've never heard of her being rude to fans. If the BI was about behind the scenes difficult behavior I'd buy it, she's already owned up to instigating the fight she got into with DOR while shooting Joy.

In looking at the thread on the original site, somebody says that Cate B. will be playing Lucille Ball in an upcoming film (Sorkin?) and as we know she played Kate H. in "The Aviator". She does seem to be quite haughty when she is being herself on TV as well. Great actress though. Don't see her outwinning Meryl, however.

The actresses who have a well deserved reputation for every single thing expressed in the BI are Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, and Julia Roberts. True, grade A Bitches. Of them all, the worst one is Charlize, who is difficult to work with, other actors and crew hate her, she has the whole "don't look at me" thing going on, and she is extremely rude to fans all the time when she's out in public. I mean seriously vile. She has a filthy mouth. Personally, I think she is mentally ill. When I heard she was dating Sean Penn I said "There is a God!" I 'd say the other two are tied for second place.Reese and Julia can put on the fake pleasant face for a minute. Actually let me amend that. Julia is second only to Charlize and both of them make Reese look downright generous which she surely is not. She has become very grand since she married CAA. This blind is actually pretty general, but those are my top three picks. Jennifer Lawrence has a reputation for being really nice to the crew and to fans.

Oh come on, it could be any of the current crop of glitzy but talentless actresses who all seem to be starring in vapid, forgettable movies.
And when does this amalgam of names end? ("J-Lo,” etc.?) Until someone spelled it out a few postings before this one, I was interpreting “J-Law” as “Jude Law,” and wondering why so many people thought he was a cunt, until I realized it was Jennifer Lawrence they were talk g about. I mean, if you’re going to get cutesy with names, at least create ones that can’t be applied to anyone else.
My guess as to who the actress in question is would be that uber-annoying, shrill-voiced, egotistical Ross Matthews, except I don’t know if she can act. As the most feminine of the actresses mentioned, Miss Matthews is an offensive caricature of gay people everywhere. Aren’t her 15 minutes up yet?

I realize that the clues lead there, but this really does not sound like either J Law or Blanchett, since Lawrence has a rep for being goofy and approachable (so surely the BI would mention if her true nature is very different from her public image), and Blanchett is at least as good an actress as Hepburn (and I don't think she does much comedy).
What other A-Listers do we have? Bullock also has a well-established rep for being really nice, and Roberts has been keeping a low profile lately.

After the performance he saw her literally run out of the building, across the street and down the block to avoid the crowd waiting for her. Blanchett is very much Australian, and not into all the celebrity bullshit. She can be edgy with reporters, and she doesn't like to interact with fans much, especially the gushy stage door bullshit, but she is very down to earth and very good with fellow actors and crew members. She and her husband have done a wonderful job with promoting and working to build the best live theatre opportunities in Australia. They're very dedicated and very serious about their jobs but totally unpretentious. She's also very serious when it comes to being a mother. If she hangs out with fellow actors it's not for the velebrity value which is what someone like Reese Witherspoon does.

Kristen Stewart? I doubt it. While she has some international awards that most American actors haven't got (non have the Ceasar, and I think she has a Bafta too ) she doesn't really have that sort of rep to the public in her home country. Most just know her as that actress from a bad vampire series and a smaller segment as that indie actress who once did a bad vampire series. Nor is she considered that versatile. But it wouldn't shock me if she tries to avoid Twilight fans. Who wouldn't?

There is no other reason to have both Lucille Ball and Katharine Hepburn listed in the blind unless this is about Cate Blanchett.

It's obviously about Blanchett. The references to Lucille Ball and Katherine Hepburn are clues easily linked to her-she played Hepburn in The Aviator and is slatted to play Ball in an upcoming biopic. She fits the rest of the blind item very well. She's often been talked about as the natural heir to Streep as Greatest Film Actress, and she's probably the only one who could boast of beating Meryl's Oscar success. Blanchett is 46 and when Meryl was that age, she'd been nominated nine times and won twice. Blanchett has been nominated six times and has won twice, and she will be nominated for actress again in a couple of months for Carol. She seems pretty cold and arrogant in RL, seemed pretty full of herself when she was winning all those awards for Blue Jasmine, has never been seen as fan friendly, and she's still A-List. One actress who might fit is Kate Winslet. She's been nominated six times and has one victory, and she just turned 40. She's likely to be nominated for Steve Jobs, and the category could be wide open if the Academy rejects Rooney Mara and Alicia Vikander for supporting, like the Globes just did. I'm not sure if she's still considered A-List, but she's done comedy as well as drama, and she campaigned as nakedly as anyone when she won for The Reader. She's a bit flaky, a bit luvvie, in British terms, but when has ever been considered bitchy? I still think Cate fits this better, but who's to say this blind item isn't full of shit? Someone may be trying to torpedo her chances for Oscar.

Toni Collette is a raging bitch who made a 10 year old actress on one of her films cry by literally telling her to fuck off iand don't talk to her in front of the whole crew as soon as the cameras stopped rolling. She was also sued in Australia for refusing to go through with the sale of a house she bought. That said, this BI ain't about her.
Blanchett could definitely expect to win at least one more Oscar, so she certainly fits the bill in terms of the description, except she doesn't have a bad rep with crews and ran the Sydney Theatre Company for years without incident. She's highly strung, but so is pretty much every actor.
As for Deb Messing, on what planet does she think she'll win even 1 Oscar, let alone 4?

Costumer is back! Welcome back, Costumer. Did you work on Carol, then? I will be watching it when it premieres in about ten days.

Also, just found out Carrie Brownstein's in the movie! Cool.

Yes, R126, I worked on Carol. It's gorgeous, and not just the clothes.

Btw I saw Blanchett on stage twice (Big and Small, Paris and London 2012), and I don't care if she is a bitch or not. She rocks! Few personalities have the ability to be stars AND terrific actors, on film and the stage. I would love to work with someone like her. You learn from top talent.

I am working WITH Reece soon, and I am terrified.
My take on this BI is Jennifer Lawrence, whom I have never worked with, but people I know have, and it sounds like the stories I've heard. I adored her in Winter's Bone, but not one thing since, but I would have loved to have worked on Hunger Games.

Hahahaha Reese... Love Election, one of my favourite movies. She was great in The Man in the Moon, when she was about 14. It was all downhill from there.

Love the Official DL Costumer.
Official DL ER Nurse gets kudos as well.

Cate looks absolutely fucking awful in that clip. Pin back your ears dear. She's really overdoing the botox and surgery too, in all the wrong places!

Thanks, dear r136. Love you too.

goodness, I meant R135. I don't love r136.

It's ok R106. As far as I'm concerned, a Keeping Up Appearances referral is welcome on any thread.

Well, I guess r133 has settled it.

Just saw an interview where Cate said the fur coat in "Carol' kept falling apart and had to be sewed after every take.

It's Blanchett. The title is "American Blind," but it does not say the actress is American. The references to Lucille Ball and Kate Heoburn are to obvious to ignore in the way they line up with Cate B.

Is Gary going to talk one of them out of it?

When I looked at the link, I didn't see a title at all on that site. However, the OP's post says "America Blind" not American Blind, as in America is blind to her bitchiness perhaps.

"The only Blanchette I know of is Blanchette Rockefeller."
What about Blanchette Jackson? He's been such a diva since his balcony dangling days.
