Black Lives Matter activist Deray Mckesson opens up about being Gay and Black
At Saturday's GLAAD Gala in San Francisco, Black Lives Matter activist and community organizer Deray Mckesson opened up about publicly negotiating his blackness with his identity as a gay man.
Introduced by Empire star and friend Jussie Smollett, Mckesson used the success of the viral #BlackLivesMatter movement to highlight how people can combat stereotypes and false dichotomies surrounding LGBT identities and race -- all while highlighting pervasive violence against black trans-women. Watch his speech below and get ready to RT away.

BLM ... What do they want? I get that they want police brutality to end, but do they have a plan? As a movement it seems unfocused, reactionary and all over the map. Now the protestors are egging on police, and if any black suspect gets shot in any part of the U.S. under any circumstances then it's another protest? Just posting shit to Twitter and throwing shit at police is not a plan.

If he would man up and say once and for all that the narrative of "Hands Up Don't Shoot" from the Mike Brown Ferguson thing I would respet the hell out of him. It would show me that they are keeping it 100.
If they lie about HUDS, what else are they lying about? Yes, it was a catchy slogan, and IF it had been true, there wouldn't be a dead Mike Brown. But it appears that he prefers a good slogan to honesty, and he knows that many of his low info followers don't even realize that it never happened as was first reported.
As Jeh Johnson and Bill Bratton said today, comply with the cops PERIOD. Pursue your grievances later. You know, like MOST white folks do.

But what is BLM actually doing to combat racism in the police force and to combat police brutality? Inciting race wars like they're doing now is solving NOTHING!! Getting people to hate cops isn't solving anything. Calling every white bitch out on their "privilege" on social media isn't solving anything. That's NOT activism.
Meet with politicians, lawmakers, police commissioners etc.. Try to get some initiatives and programs in place concerning the hiring of police officers and ethics

I love and follow and communicate with Deray. He is a leader for our times though most of DL won't embrace the BLM movement. McKesson is not our only leader and he is a bit obsessively involved with social media even for me. But people would be wise to follow him. A brilliant, perfectly spoken man, wise, measured and WOKE. He will draw your attention to important matters AND say things that may excite white gays and all men and women to think and act. If he weren't so associated with BLM his credentials and dedication, history and vision would be more fully embraced. Truth is most DL members are just too old and prejudiced to understand. Is black lives matter an imperfect movement? Probably. So was ACT UP and The Freedom Riders.

Deray's famous calling to gay black men was to urge us to "come out of the quiet." If you are looking for reason's to put a gay activist down and all you can speak to is the existence of homophobia in the black community while pretending it is conquered in your own R51, then you display little interest in being enlightened or understanding our differences. If you think that gay black men are all going to denounce the lord and our mothers AND wild fucking sex you are living a simple life. I am Black. All the gay black men I know are more freely sexual and freely spoken than any white boys, who tend to just whore. Some blacks and hispanics are downlow or bisexual. Sorry if that upsets you so much. Come to Brooklyn. You will never feel so safe or embraced as a gay man. We don't need a parade for you, come see how black gay men live! Leave your moralizing behind. As long as white men don't understand that black men must focus on our race struggle FIRST AND ALWAYS before one's of sexuality, then you will miss out on some of the best minds and leaders in our nation, who represent both entities. BLACK LIVES MATTER. Gays are already here and protected. Always jealous and still whining. DeRay is a hero.

Black gays are at the epicenter of every civil rights movement for change. Not surprising to me that BLM founders are all black lesbians, and its spokesman a black gay man. MLK and the non-violent marches and SCLC was largely orchestrated by one Bayard Rustin, an African American gay man and civil rights activist-largely forgotten by both communities he fought for.

Deray was part of a 4 1/2 hour meeting with Obama this week and was still firmly and eloquently fighting the good fight last night as a guest on Stephen Colbert. DL can continue to degrade and trivialize this movement, but we aren't' going away. Deray is a wonderful and a bit wonky spokesman for not only BLM, but for gay black men. The padded vest is about branding himself. This guy is the biggest starfucker and loves to post selfies with celebs and say they were "talking about the movement". He didn't even show up for the massive BLM march in NYC in the Winter even though he was here. He was too busy "supporting" Netta at her Seventeen magazine photoshoot (ie networking like a motherfucker). Interestingly a lot of BLM people hate him, but he has his crew who will go psycho on his behalf if anyone says it (see Dream Hampton) and white people love him because he's the non-threatening black man of their dreams.

DeRay McKesson Lives in Home Owned by Wealthy Law Student
When Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson isn’t leading protest marches, he lives comfortably in a home provided by wealthy donors.
McKesson was arrested last weekend during a protest in Louisiana. His booking sheet shows his home address is a house on a leafy street in suburban Baltimore.
The 2,808 Sq. ft. 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home is owned by James and Robin Wood, who are wealthy donors to George Soros’ Open Society Institute.
