Hillary Clinton Is a Garbage Rich Person

In addition to being an enemy of the poor, it’s also important to note that Hillary Clinton is a remarkably terrible rich person. I wouldn’t say that necessarily disqualifies her (unlike her anti-poor stuff) from support, but it does certainly gin up some ill will.

According to Politico, Hillary’s net worth stands at $32,015,000. This is 137x more wealth than the median person in her age group. By comparison, Sanders’ net worth is $330,000, which is 0.4x wealthier than the median person in his age group (which is the same age group as Hillary).

Perhaps worse than the level of wealth is the fact that it has clearly been accumulated through corrupt influence-peddling. For instance, both Bill and Hillary have collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from Goldman Sachs for delivering a few short speeches. Despite Hillary’s considerable speech-making abilities, I am going to guess that her fee did not match her value-add to the economy, meaning her pay was not just a fraud on the political system, but also a fraud on the national accounts (counted as income collected for production instead of money collected as a gift).

In addition to their obscene level of wealth and the corrupt way in which it was amassed, the Clintons have also abused loopholes to avoid paying tax on it. As Bloomberg reported last year, the Clintons have created residence trusts that they’ve shifted the ownership of their houses into in order to shield the value of those houses from the estate tax. The apparent goal of this tax avoidance is to ensure that more of their ill-gotten fortune will pass to their daughter Chelsea instead of to the taxman. Why Chelsea needs some extra tax-free inheritance when she is able to collect so much “earned income” riding off the Clinton brand — such as the $27,000 per minute MSNBC paid her to be a “special correspondent” — is beyond me.

Perhaps it’s the unreconstructed class warrior in me, but I’d say corruptly building an unimaginable fortune that you then shield from tax so that your rich nepotist kid can be even richer is grounds for legitimate disgust. This is especially true when you do all of this and then turn around and say poor single mothers who receive a few hundred dollars each month in social benefits are dependent deadbeats who lack dignity. That classist formulation is a far more accurate descriptor of Hillary Clinton and her clan than it is the poor families she applies it to.

Most politicians are disgustingly wealthy. Not sure what you are trying to say.

by Anonymousreply 1November 9, 2015 1:35 AM

R1 How about you read beyond the title before commenting?

by Anonymousreply 2November 9, 2015 1:41 AM

OP, you can't be so poor that you can't do something about how bad that cunt of yours stinks. Obviously the fumes have destroyed what little was left of your reasoning skills.

by Anonymousreply 3November 9, 2015 1:43 AM

They were poor when they were in the White House.

by Anonymousreply 4November 9, 2015 2:00 AM

I read it R1. Politicians are wealthy and it's a way for them to enrich themselves. The rich always create tax loopholes for themselves. The Bush family, the Trump's, etc.

by Anonymousreply 5November 9, 2015 2:03 AM

That money was earned from Bill and Hillary's speaking engagements AFTER being in the White House.

Another stupid nonstory. NEXT!

by Anonymousreply 6November 9, 2015 2:06 AM

Hillary has produced nothing on her own. She hasn't never generated an original idea on policy, despite being in politics for 4 decades and having the benefit of an elite education. She is a true mediocrity whose greatest accomplishment is refusing to divorce her accomplished husband.

by Anonymousreply 7November 9, 2015 2:09 AM

I only read partway because the author kept making pointless accusations.

Hillary is free to make money however she legally may. There is nothing wrong from making speeches for money. Everyone would do so, if they could.

Nobody is obligated to maximize their tax payments. It's legal, and appropriate to try to minimize your taxes through any legal means.

I stopped there, as it was clear the author was trying too hard to make a point that had no support.

Pointless bitchery, indeed!

by Anonymousreply 8November 9, 2015 2:38 AM

When the Clinton's left the White House, they were hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt from legal fees, used to defend themselves from the years-long Starr Chamber.

by Anonymousreply 9November 9, 2015 2:40 AM

Hillary was the 11th most liberal member of the senate in her time serving there.

by Anonymousreply 10November 9, 2015 2:41 AM

Look out, r10!

I wrote that here a great number of times, and not only was I attacked as some sort of terrorist, but the facts don't mean anything, because nowadays we just FEEL everything and get to the SHRIEKING right away!

Hillary Clinton was First Lady of Arkansas, the FLOTUS, then Senator, then Secretary of State concurrently. She's only been a private citizen for just over THREE YEARS, and has ONLY been able to earn big speaking fees for that tiny amount of time. Hillary also made a lot of money JUST LIKE President Obama by writing THREE very popular books! Do you condemn her for that too?

by Anonymousreply 11November 9, 2015 3:01 AM

Representing New York. When she was first lady of Arkansas, Little Rock never even had a gay pride. She's not a liberal by inclination, which is why her autobiography published in 2000 is pitched at a "third way" between conservatism and traditional liberalism. She still does not seem to get that traditional liberalism (unions, reform of corporate governance, capital controls, trade controls) and an end to idiot world domination dreams are what the situation requires. But to tell truth, even Saunders doesn't really get all that. These people are not dealing with reality, they are still encapsulated in a false statistical bubble of ignorance.

Bill C. took millions from Saudi Arabia for his library, this a country where women can't swear on their own behalf in court, need a male guardian's permission to marry and divorce, travel, education, open a bank account, and have surgery. They also had to have permission to seek employment until 2008. Now men receive a text message if a woman they are responsible for leaves the country. They must wear the veil. Saudi tv in 2014 allowed a Saudi woman to report the news from London, UK for the first time without a headscarf. Women cannot eat with single men. A woman needs 6 male witnesses to buy and sell property. There can be no sex mixing at work and women traveling for work must be accompanied by a male guardian. Education is segregated by sex and women could not do sport until 2013. Women cannot drive and public transit is segregated. Domestic violence was not considered criminal until 2013 and the first women's shelter opened in 2008. Women can only inherit half of what males can. Women are scheduled to begin voting in December, 2015. If it comes off.

by Anonymousreply 12November 9, 2015 3:17 AM

So it's Hillary's fault that Arkansas didn't have a gay pride parade? And she and Bill are responsible for the oppressive laws in Saudi Arabia?

LOL. Keep trying. She is among the most liberal of Democratic politicians currently in the game. There's nothing that can change that fact.

by Anonymousreply 13November 9, 2015 11:48 AM

Look ,this is another example of the smear campaign the GOP operatives and their minions (OP is just a minion.) are engaging in to discourage people from voting for Hillary. Even some Bernie Sanders supporters are involved, and are playing right onto their hands. On her worst day, Hillary Clinton is the best possible choice to run this country, and I am voting for her, working for her, and supporting her. So fuck off, OP. I want someone who walks into the Oval on Day one and knows exactly what to do. Comparing Hillary's income to Bernies is ridiculous. Hillary Clinton is and has been a world recognized international, historic figure. From the moment she stepped onto the world stage in 1992 this has been the case. Bernie is a senator from a small state who has spent years ranting, and telling people he was right about shit that happened years ago.

by Anonymousreply 14November 9, 2015 12:26 PM

If the Clintons made their money off the backs of the middle class I could see the point here, but since they made their money by fleeciing the 1%, I tend to think of it as a mark in their favor.

by Anonymousreply 15November 9, 2015 1:30 PM

Let me get this straight Hillary is a terrible rich person but donald is not a terrible rich person. Republicans are clearly delusional, at least Hillary shows some form of empathy towards the poor and middle class. Donald will probably ignore the poor, he could care less about the middle class. We know how he feels about immigrants, who make up a rising number of middle class Americans.

by Anonymousreply 16November 9, 2015 2:22 PM

THere's no point to arguing with these brain dead morons. There is not one single reason to vote for any republican Ever. I have seen what they stand for, and what they do, and do not do, I have experienced their obstructionism, and dishonestly. Starting from when Reagan got elected in 1980, they have shit all over the people of this country. They are divisive, dishonest, negative and only get elected by lying, distorting, nefative attack style campaigning, spreading fear, gerrymandering and suppression. So there is nothing to argue about IMO. I don't need to justify why I am supporting the candidate who can not only win, but who can effectively lead this country. Again, Fuck off OP.

by Anonymousreply 17November 9, 2015 2:48 PM

Jesus, when did DataLounge turn into The Free Republic?

These crazy rightwingers are destroying the board with their fucked up conservative idiocies.

Can't you people go back to your own boards? Why come here and ruin ours?

by Anonymousreply 18November 9, 2015 2:52 PM

R8 Maybe you should try to control your discomfort and try reading again. The author's accusation is that Clinton's speeches are influence-peddling - she gets paid by some big bank for some half-assed speech and in exchange... you know the story.

by Anonymousreply 19November 9, 2015 3:02 PM

R14 The author is far more to the left than you've ever been. I can't fathom how politically mediocrity an environment must be for one to fathom that only people on the Right dislike Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 20November 9, 2015 3:05 PM

Hillary and Bill are truly Self-made millionaires.

Trump had Daddy's money

by Anonymousreply 21November 9, 2015 3:11 PM

I didn't realize that Bill and Hillary were forcing people at gun point to give them money for their speeches.

by Anonymousreply 22November 9, 2015 3:13 PM

That's complete bullshit. WTF do you think can afford to pay celebrity politicians to speak at their gatherings. If we castigated every politician who ever did that there would be no one left. Literally no one. Trade associations, special conferences, corporate retreats, etc. are all speaking opportunities. There are very few "gets" as valuable as a former President or a former First Lady. Hillary has no need to promote any institution or organization or industry. She is at a whole diffeent level. And if you think guys liike Boehner and Ryan and Cruz don't get paid I have a bridge to sell you. The media has done a very poor job of shining a spotlight on the junkets and free perks members of Congress and former cabinet officials enjoy, and the botes they take. Why do you think there are so many lobbyists? Why do you think the NRA controls so many members of Congress? You inadvertently stumbled on a much larger problem by citing Hillary for an imaginary offense that doesn't even apply to her. What assholes.

The only people who stoke up the faux indignation are guys who don't command the larger fees. Why do you think there are 16 fucking GOP candidates running for President? Do you really believe they all think they can win? Hell no. It's to raise their profile, promote their brand, and to make/keep them comnmercially viable. They're already signed up with agents and speakers bureaus.

by Anonymousreply 23November 9, 2015 3:15 PM

I'm so confused.

by Anonymousreply 25November 9, 2015 3:27 PM

So if Hillary's speeches are influence peddling, aren't Trump's speeches, Carson's speeches, and Bernie's speeches too?

by Anonymousreply 26November 9, 2015 3:28 PM

[quote]Maybe you should try to control your discomfort and try reading again. The author's accusation is that Clinton's speeches are influence-peddling - she gets paid by some big bank for some half-assed speech and in exchange... you know the story.

No, I don't. Spell it out. With citations and proof.

by Anonymousreply 27November 9, 2015 3:30 PM

ls are another way of buying influence from politicians. The people who pony up multi-million dollar advances to politicians are expecting the politician to do their bidding for the rest of their careers.

Politicians who grow rich in public service are grifters.

[quote]ls are another way of buying influence from politicians

That was supposed to say, "book deals are another way of buying influence from politicians."

by Anonymousreply 29November 9, 2015 3:36 PM

This is laughable. Hillary doesn't need to be an indlience peddler and she would never do it because it hurts her "brand." I swear it's really tedious to argue with people who are so stupid. And uneducable.

by Anonymousreply 30November 9, 2015 5:09 PM

Wow, R30, your blindness to the way the world works is stunning.

by Anonymousreply 31November 9, 2015 5:14 PM

Wow, R31, your hatred of Hillary and everyone who isn't just like you is stunning.

by Anonymousreply 32November 9, 2015 5:18 PM

Another Breitbart thread.

by Anonymousreply 33November 9, 2015 5:24 PM

Every time you ask this one anti-Hillary shill to explain himself, he always comes back with some variation on "Wow. I can't believe you're so naive about the world" without offering one shred of logic or proof. EVERY TIME.

TRY HARDER, ANTI-HILLARY LOONS.

by Anonymousreply 34November 9, 2015 5:48 PM

Oh, God, R34. Do you really think that corporations cut checks to the Clintons for a quarter million dollars just to deliver speeches with no strings attached? Do you really think politicians spend half their lives fund-raising from people who AREN'T buying their influence?

by Anonymousreply 35November 9, 2015 6:03 PM

Oh, God, r35, are you really going to keep dodging or do you have any specifics to offer?

by Anonymousreply 36November 9, 2015 6:35 PM

R35, ALL political speeches have strings attached. That's politics.

by Anonymousreply 37November 9, 2015 7:03 PM

Those pants suits. Noovo rich.

by Anonymousreply 38November 9, 2015 7:10 PM

Please. If you are able to snag one of the Clintons as a speaker for your organization, the prestige conferred on your organization is enough. You might try buying some politician, but once you are in the realm of POTUS it's a whole other thing. YOu people are so simpliestic. Really. Come on.

by Anonymousreply 39November 10, 2015 1:43 AM

What a load of hooey, R39! No one remembers or gives a fuck who delivered a speech once at your institution. Prestige indeed! The Clintons are corrupt whores.

by Anonymousreply 40November 10, 2015 1:54 AM

R14, you should save your post somewhere. Maybe edit it to make it more generic. Then be prepared to post it many times in all the various Hillary-hating threads that the Right-wing nut jobs post between now and next November. I'm being serious, too. They create these threads where they raise bogus subjects or make stuff up or otherwise stir up shit and it calls for a response of some kind, but it is tedious to write from scratch.

If you can't take their money, drink their liquor, fuck their women, and then come in here the next day and vote against them, you don't belong here.~California politician Jesse Marvin Unruh, referring to lobbyists, 1966.

by Anonymousreply 42November 10, 2015 2:07 AM

I am voting for Hillary because Sanders will not beat any Republican. Could you see the ads calling Sanders a communist who went on his honeymoon to Russia? Sanders might win the NH primary but that's it. Hillary leads by56 pts in South Carolina She leads by 18 in Iowa, 33 pts in North Carolina, 42 pts in Florida, 57 pts in Georgia 34 pts in PA, 49 pts in TX. Stop pushing Sanders. No one wants him. He's not even a Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 43November 10, 2015 2:25 AM

I'm voting for Bernie in the primary that Hillary is expected to win. If it were close, then I'd have to think about it, but I don't think it will be close. But there's a year yet to go, so who knows.

by Anonymousreply 44November 10, 2015 3:19 AM

The GOP will never do what they need to do to stand a chance of winning in November 2016. They are incapable, but the strongest ticket they could put together to stand a chance would be a Kasich Rubio ticket.

Carpetbagger senator running unopposed in one of the richest areas of the country, apologist for rape FLOTUS, ineffective and controversial head of the State dept., defending the use of a private email server whose creator is now getting FBI immunity to spill the beans, appointing unqualified donor to a sensitive board, implicated in the S&L crisis as FL of ARK, hiding billing records that would criminally implicate her, hiring the law partner as a consultant while he was in jail, falsifying records on the Warren commission and getting fired....the list goes on and on. No, she doesn't have the actual blood on her hands, but she sure as hell supplied the knife and we'll all get to hear about it from Trump researchers in the coming days. She's a psychopathic politician with a lust for power and I thought that before there was ever a Bernie Sanders in the picture. She will lose, and have no one to blame but herself. Most of you here are old and established yuppies who want to see the dividends keep rolling in so you've become complacent and angry when the youngsters want the same opportunities you had. For the fearmongers amongst you, please ignore that it was a republican appointed justice who cast the deciding vote that made equal marriage rights the law of the land.
