Check out the media room.

Its nice, but too bad gay marriage will cause it to fall into the ocean.

Bahalaa asha tiyah tololo!

by Anonymousreply 2November 5, 2015 8:13 PM

To be honest.. This is the first time I actually like a "Tasteful Friends" interior. Beautiful house, very neutral but stylish interior. Could use a few splashes of colour just to make it a tad more interesting.. I would move in tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 3November 5, 2015 8:34 PM

I like it too R3 but I'm partial to that style. The furnishings are some of the more tasteful I've seen and it looks comfortable. I love the al fresco dining area.

by Anonymousreply 4November 5, 2015 8:36 PM

Actually, R4, I thought the dining area was the only part of the house that felt a bit off.. A bit too bare. Tiny rug for such a big table, by the way. If you'd move your chair back to stand up between courses, you would scratch the legs of the chair right on the tiles..

by Anonymousreply 5November 5, 2015 8:40 PM

R5 you're talking about the dining room, I'm talking about the outdoor eating area.

by Anonymousreply 6November 5, 2015 8:48 PM

I wonder why he's selling it.

by Anonymousreply 7November 5, 2015 8:50 PM

I love it, it even reminds me of Jeff and I'm sure he was very comfortable there.

by Anonymousreply 8November 5, 2015 8:53 PM

I'd move in too. Provided Jeff came with it.

by Anonymousreply 9November 5, 2015 8:57 PM

Stunning and beautiful. I also would like to know why he is selling it.

by Anonymousreply 10November 5, 2015 8:57 PM

It make nice summer dacha.

by Anonymousreply 11November 5, 2015 9:24 PM

Damn, I hope he's not getting a divorce

by Anonymousreply 12November 5, 2015 9:25 PM

That amount of land really ups the price.

Records indicate it was last sold in 1994, and it's still being taxed at an assessed value of only $9.5 million.

If it sells for $29.5 million, the new owner is going to have a nice little bill to pay every year.

Not that bad, considering the rules of Prop 13.

by Anonymousreply 14November 5, 2015 9:49 PM

R8: Yes, my thoughts as well. The feel does match him.

by Anonymousreply 15November 5, 2015 9:51 PM

[quote]I wonder why he's selling it.

Oprah moved in nearby and it lowered the property values.

by Anonymousreply 16November 5, 2015 11:32 PM

There's no kitchen shown in any of the photos. Odd. It's on 20 acres right next to the mountains.

by Anonymousreply 17November 6, 2015 1:19 AM

R17

You can see the kitchen in the realtor's video at youtube.

This video moves too fast and spins too much. I be dizzy!

I had no idea he had that kind of money.

by Anonymousreply 19November 6, 2015 1:52 AM

I could happily live my days out there, I'd never leave if I could avoid it.

by Anonymousreply 20November 6, 2015 1:56 AM

R19 He bought it for under $7 million in 1994. If he had a mortgage, and refinanced with more recent low interest rates, I can see it.

by Anonymousreply 21November 6, 2015 2:13 AM

Not crazy about the glass dinning room table and could use a little color. It's my favorite of all these rich and famous houses.

by Anonymousreply 22November 6, 2015 2:46 AM

I'd consider it, but not with that small garage. I need space for at least six cars. I'm not going to be parking them outside.

by Anonymousreply 23November 6, 2015 6:07 AM

I think it's really cute, it looks comfortable and lived in.

by Anonymousreply 24November 6, 2015 6:37 AM

Small and cramped, but nice view. I will tear it down and build a golden palace, with a discotheque.

by Anonymousreply 25November 6, 2015 6:50 AM

It's actually really stunning. First time I've ever said that about a Tasteful Friends thread.

by Anonymousreply 26November 6, 2015 6:56 AM

[quote]I had no idea he had that kind of money.

Besides his own career he probably inherited a bundle from his dad. Lloyd Bridges worked steadily into his old age.

by Anonymousreply 27November 6, 2015 8:01 AM

There was a thread about this listing several weeks ago.

I really like the house and the decor too, although it looks like much of it has been staged for sale in the prevailing "no color anywhere" esthetic. I suspect that when he was living there, it looked a lot comfier, brighter and more lived-in.

by Anonymousreply 28November 6, 2015 8:41 AM

Why not just round it up to 30 million?

Maybe his record albums aren't selling as much as he hoped.

by Anonymousreply 29November 6, 2015 11:59 AM

I love it, inside and out. The views are stunning, the house is lovely. I'd take it in a heartbeat and never leave.

Also that sheepskin rug in the cosy area of the bedroom really ties the room together.

by Anonymousreply 30November 6, 2015 12:07 PM

UPDATE: Bridges property didn't sell and it was delisted at the end of March.

by Anonymousreply 31May 5, 2016 5:49 AM

Isn't the house staged for sale? I don't think this represents Jeff Bridges' actual taste in interior design.

by Anonymousreply 32May 5, 2016 6:04 AM

No, house photo shoots are not often staged for sale.

I'm curious why he was ever selling it.

by Anonymousreply 33May 5, 2016 7:55 AM

Oprah moved into Montecito and the ground sank.

by Anonymousreply 34May 5, 2016 7:58 AM

It's actually a very nice place, but far too large and estate-like for someone of his puny stature.

by Anonymousreply 35May 5, 2016 8:01 AM

Do they mention the fact that the hilly areas of Santa Barbara are usually on fire?

by Anonymousreply 36May 5, 2016 8:01 AM

R36 That could be part of the problem. The house is beautiful, but not everyone wants 19.5 acres to be responsible for. If that's the size house one wants (~9000 sf), it's not that hard to find nearby homes on 3+ acres of land at one-third the cost. That still affords a lot of privacy.

by Anonymousreply 37May 5, 2016 10:51 PM

I wanna buy if Jeff Bridges comes along and promise to fuck me bareback every night

by Anonymousreply 38May 5, 2016 11:04 PM

It looks staged to me. No sign of any personal objects or even personality in the decor. For Montecito home with 20 acres--- 30 million is quite reasonable.

by Anonymousreply 39May 5, 2016 11:06 PM

When it was listed, Redfin thought it was overpriced by about $10 million.

by Anonymousreply 40May 6, 2016 1:32 AM

I love that he's still with his waitress wife.

by Anonymousreply 41May 6, 2016 1:43 AM

This is nice. I love that stone outdoor sitting area overlooking the ocean. It looks like it has ocean views from all over the property, but maybe it is a camera trick? A view like that is not replaceable in California, so I am shocked that it has not sold yet. Very tasteful and beautiful, but also neutral. Can move right in.

by Anonymousreply 42May 6, 2016 1:55 AM

I love all the wood ceilings personally.

by Anonymousreply 43March 21, 2020 7:01 PM

Now this is a movie star's home!

by Anonymousreply 44March 21, 2020 7:22 PM

Why is this four-year old thread being bumped?

by Anonymousreply 45March 21, 2020 7:34 PM

this is a fine example of a true California style mansion. mixed elements of Spain and Rome. nicely treed around the house to provide shade.

beautiful, even if not to my personal taste.

by Anonymousreply 46March 21, 2020 7:52 PM

How many house does jeff own in this area? A few years back he was selling an estate for $30M and then 2019 Oprah bought the other house he was selling for $8M.

He seems to have a lot of real estate.
