Favorite 80s covers?

I am in love with this cover of "Take on Me."

I think I may even like it more than the original.

Grey's Anatomy-ready, OP.

I haven't heard of Jody Watley since the '80s. Did she fall asleep when "Borderline" was popular and wake up singing it ten years ago?

Please burn R2 at the stake for promoting crimes against music.

I like that, R6. It doesn't necessarily make me want to dance the way Whitney's version used to. But it's a man singing about another man. How wonderful is that? It would have been nice for Luke and Noah (I can't imagine the doctor dancing).

So far R6 is the best.

r13, "Love You Inside Out" is 1979; still, that IS an awesome cover. One of the few I think is actually better than the original.

Do any of these covers ever hit the top 10? I feel like in the 80s we had lots of great covers of 60s songs ("Venus", "Always Something There To Remind Me", "Tainted Love" etc), but nowaways the chart toppers seem to be all newly written songs. Maybe shows like Glee and American Idol somehow took away the specialness of a cover song?

"Mad World" has been covered a lot. Pentatonix recently dropped their version.
