Janet Jackson Unbreakable Sales Plummet 74% in 2nd week!

Janet's UNBREAKABLE album sales have cratered in its 2nd week of sales by 74%.

Album is down to #8 on Billboard. Album is down to #18 on iTunes. Disappointing sales have Jackson camp scrambling!

by Anonymousreply 56September 6, 2020 5:25 AM

It sold a lot more than I thought it would week one, I must say.

by Anonymousreply 1October 21, 2015 5:23 AM

The album is awful.

by Anonymousreply 2October 21, 2015 6:08 AM

Billboard Magazine POISON! Motown royalty!

by Anonymousreply 3October 21, 2015 6:24 AM

That's because everyone bought it the first week. The Beatles also had this problem. They'd release a new single or album and the first week everyone would run out and buy it. The difference between sales in the Beatles top spot and #2 was often greater than the other nine top ten spots combined.

Then the second week, since everyone owned it, it would fall out quickly.

This is why chart rank is useless for long term comparison.

by Anonymousreply 4October 21, 2015 2:27 PM

Actually, it's not a TERRIBLE album; it's just not a GREAT album. I don't understand why there's always rain in the background of 90% of Janet Jackson's songs. And that ridiculous whispering she does is stupid too.

No way in hell will her tour generate the same amount of revenue that Rebel Heart will.

by Anonymousreply 5October 21, 2015 2:31 PM

Rapper Khia (who wrote a track for her years ago) slams Janet and her new album.

Random stabs at the Jackson children thrown in for good measure.

Is it true Janet has only won a Grammy for music videos, in which she just waddled and lipcooed while others directed, shot and choreographed them?

by Anonymousreply 7October 21, 2015 5:33 PM

R6, that is hysterical! Girl more than throws shade on Janet. Puts her in the center of an eclipse!

by Anonymousreply 8October 21, 2015 8:28 PM

A fall to #8 isn't gonna cause anyone's camp to scramble.

by Anonymousreply 9October 21, 2015 11:45 PM

r9, look at the numbers, not the chart position. It's only #8 because there is no competition. It will fall off the chart when the holiday releases start coming out.

by Anonymousreply 10October 22, 2015 12:11 AM

Khia is a stank ass whore.

Pressed as the day is long!

by Anonymousreply 11October 22, 2015 12:14 AM

I don't know where anyone sees this piece of crap album at #18 on iTunes, I see it at #35. Now it's clear why no record company wants her. Her album and tour are both flops.

by Anonymousreply 12October 22, 2015 1:27 AM

See how fast it plummets, R12?

by Anonymousreply 13October 22, 2015 1:33 AM

Negrita ho!

by Anonymousreply 14October 22, 2015 4:25 PM

#36 on iTunes now

by Anonymousreply 15October 22, 2015 4:37 PM

No body wanted the album.

by Anonymousreply 16October 22, 2015 5:11 PM

Don't dare take and post concert pictures, cuz Janet Nasty Jackson's thugs will hunt you down!

* * * Janet Jackson’s fans are accusing the singer and her team of acting “Nasty” after they posted pics of her current “Unbreakable” tour on their Instagram feeds.

Numerous fans have claimed that after posting pics of Jackson live in concert, they’ve received e-mails from the social-media app explaining: “a third party reported that the content violates their copyright.”

One Jackson concert-goer in Los Angeles told Page Six that the morning after the concert, her Instagram account was deleted, “Without warning. Every. Single. Photo. Gone.”

Another blogger reported the same issue, claiming they had, “five e-mails from Instagram . . . about the five videos I had posted . . . It seems like Miss Jackson’s [legal] team is on fire. What a shame they don’t understand the times we live in.”

R5 the revenue numbers won't be anywhere close to the Rebel Heart tour. Janet is on average playing much smaller venues that M and even those smaller venues are not selling out. She's also now "postponed" 4 dates already due to "vocal rest". The take won't be half of Rebel Heart.

by Anonymousreply 38October 25, 2015 3:44 AM

Where's stinky Janbot hiding?

[quote]“Janet Jackson’s chart-topper this week was aided by the 30k units that were part of a ticket bundle for her tour, which explains why the album sold so well with virtually no airplay. The veteran artist and her wealthy husband, fashion mogul Wissam Al Mana, who financed the recording and underwrote her Rhythm Nation label, had shopped the album to the majors but got nary a nibble, enabling BMG to pick it up.”

Got nary a nibble. Imagine that, Jabba.

by Anonymousreply 41October 26, 2015 1:21 AM

[quote]concertgoers for Janet Jackson’s San Francisco show reported being given a free Unbreakable album with the purchase of every concert souvenir, which included t-shirts and concert books. It was also reported that albums were also given away with souvenirs in Los Angeles and San Diego, which explains why Unbreakable only dropped 3 percent in sales this week, despite sharply falling down the charts on iTunes (No. 62) and Amazon. (No. 31).

[quote]Showbiz 411 notes that in one deal, for either $29.99 or $39.99, you get a T-shirt plus three or four different kinds of recordings, all have which counted towards sales. However, many actual concert goers have reported that they have bought a t-shirt or other item for cheaper and still given the CD. In other words, one couldn’t get the T-shirt without the CD; it was automatically included. This has angered many on Twitter.

[quote]@showbiz411 @JanetJackson is bundling sales of her album with EVERY T-shirt at her concert. That is unfair! #billboard — Luke O'Malley (@lilmonsterluke) October 23, 2015

[quote]@HITSDD Janet Jackson is cheating. Giving away free album with EVERY tshirt sale. and calling it bundling. — Ted Lopez (@TedLopez39) October 18, 2015

Damn, now the people who criticized Madonna's sales because of the free CDs with ticket purchases will have to eat their words

by Anonymousreply 44October 26, 2015 3:44 AM

Please, R44, look at Janet-she's already eaten all their words. And their chicken.

by Anonymousreply 45October 26, 2015 5:55 AM

And dey fried chill'rin!

by Anonymousreply 46October 26, 2015 6:16 AM

[quote] Damn, now the people who criticized Madonna's sales because of the free CDs with ticket purchases will have to eat their words

Except with Madonna, they weren't free. You either added the CD in and paid one price or neglected to take it and paid a lower price.

by Anonymousreply 47October 26, 2015 6:17 PM

The only things Janet beats Madonna in is weight and low album and record sales. That means Janet is fat and can't sell albums or tickets, Janbot. Oh, and shitty tshirts, too.

Jabba doesn't come here anymore because over the past 3 years the Lounge has turned against her and shreds her everytime she opens her mouth.

Do you remember when she used to come here and actually BRAG about how FAMOUS she was and how many FRIENDS she had at DataLounge? Girl was delusional. Anyway, I'm sure she has found another forum to piss off.

by Anonymousreply 50October 27, 2015 9:38 PM

OK:

For comparison:

Janet's current album on the top 200 album billboard chart:

Week 1: #1 Week 2: #8 Week 3: #14

Madonna's most recent album first 3 weeks on the top 200 album billboard chart:

Week 1: #2 Week 2: #21 Week 3: #34

um...Janet's first 3 week numbers on the billboard chart are much better

by Anonymousreply 51October 29, 2015 3:29 PM

[quote] um...Janet's first 3 week numbers on the billboard chart are much better

That's delightful, dear. You're forgetting the real measure- SALES.

But you hang on to that hollow victory.

by Anonymousreply 52October 29, 2015 6:19 PM

The sales even for either of them doesn't mean much anymore. It's not where the money is made. The real money is now all in the touring. The releases are just platforms for the tour. Music sales in general are less than half what they use to be. There will be no comparison between the two in the touring revenue numbers.

by Anonymousreply 53October 30, 2015 5:13 AM

Real measure is fried chicken eating contest!

by Anonymousreply 54October 30, 2015 3:30 PM
