Oh yea, Canada had an election today. The Liberal Party of Canada formed a majority, and Justin Trudeau is the Prime Minister of Canada. And now, back to the thread on the hottest asses. . .
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 20, 2015 5:15 AM |
I want to see Justin's hot ass! he's a boxer and a judo expert--I'm sure it;s fantastic.

by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 20, 2015 1:09 PM |
Agreed, re: BDF. Is the Canadian accent general very sibilant? I just heard his acceptance speech on the BBC and he had what, to me, sounded like gay voice. The judo is nice to think about. I want a Turkish-style oil wrestling match between Justin and Putin. They could have it at the North Pole and the winner gets the Arctic.

[quote] Justin Trudeau, first-born son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, is exiting his 30s as his dad might have liked — with a bang, not a whimper. Though the Liberal MP for Papineau has apologized for the unparliamentary language hurled at Environment Minister Peter Kent in the Commons this week — “Oh, you piece of s---,” he shouted — Trudeau is unapologetic about the spirit that moved him. “I called him something that was fundamentally biodegradable, compostable and good for the environment. And you know what? For him to be called good for the environment? He should leap on any moment that he gets to be called that.”

I watched a youtube interview of Margaret tonight from old footage. R58 God Save the Queen was slowly dropped in the 70s due to the rising anti-monarchy sentiment in Quebec. O Canada was officially declared the national anthem of Canada in 1980. I was a child of the 80s and my schools continued to sing it with O Canada until the early 90s. Now it's only sung on occasions when the royals are in Canada.

I have a good friend, who is an Anglican Priest btw, who claims that he met Justin Trudeau in a bar in Vancouver when Justin was working there as a drama teacher (ok yes I know he taught math and french too) and that they ended up having oral sex in a secluded park.
It's a known fact that both his mother and father slept with anything on two legs.

He is a boyish looking man. That is one reason lots of gays are finding him so compelling and "beautiful". To me he has the pleasant face of whitie leftists from the 60's and 70's. He reminds me of Tom Hayden (Jane Fonda's lefty husband) and also the faces of 70's stars like Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro, and 70's rock star faces.

Perhaps Michel would have launched his own ski tourism operation; he loved the sport, and I believe he had a knack for business. In his spare time, he would have found a way to bring out his creativity through painting or writing. Whatever he chose to do, I know he would have been happy doing it. That was his gift.

Brazen Braz had his hair hacked of at the result of defeat.
Then came Pat's spiral. He was one of the youngest senators¿ ok? Even w/the crazy OTP tattoos. We get it. You're an Indian from a rez. Then came the drunken (surprised, not. Cliquet) domestic abuse. The ole down the stairs routine a la Hollywood. Then he got pinched fudging his taxes. Like the greedy mofo of indigenous idiots, he's now managing a strip club after being fired from an author post.

R167, Japan? Interesting. That would make sense as there was also small amount of Mongolian in my blood too (so everyone moving moving moving long ago).
I just googled the Japan/Mi'kmaq connection and also read that they were the Ainu who originated in the Nile Valley? This would also make sense because my dad's haplogroup is E1b1b1, which originates directly from this area.

Doug vs. Justin. Doug will make some comment about Justin not being fit to be PM because he wants to legalize pot.

Earl Cowan (angry Old Guy) was interviewed today and blamed the media for Harper losing the election.

R213 - I'm sorry I missed Cowan. That guy is a riot. I read that the event he attended where he called that reporter a lying piece of shit had been vetted by the Conservative party. If he got in, can't imagine who they rejected.
If Doug wasn't Rob's brother, the Cons would consider him. Diane Finley did an interview today because she wants to be interim leader and she's still towing the party line even without Harper - that all the voters the party contacted just LOVED the Conservative platform. It just needs to be a little 'softer'.
That probably seals the Liberal leadership for another 10 years.

It the same "playbook" as Tony Blair and Obama - a smiley face that is a phony "opposition" - continues same policies as Conservatives, and creates additional problems. As has been reported "Justin Trudeau’s Liberals have quietly been getting regular advice from Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, Barack Obama’s deputy campaign manager in the last U.S. presidential campaign."

He's pulling jets from Syria, overturning the ban on gay blood donation, and legalizing pot.... doesn't sound like Conservative policy.
by Anonymous | reply 352 | November 2, 2015 1:12 PM |
Pot has nothing to do with being gay. That was a fig leaf to cover up the fact that his policies are similar to Harper. Syria has nothing to do with gay either. The Red Cross had a major scandal with infected blood, that is why it stayed so long.
He will push the T agenda which is anti gay and R346 covered the other point. These will be BIG anti-gay things.

[quote]That was a fig leaf to cover up the fact that his policies are similar to Harper.
Not true.
There are huge differences between the Trudeau Liberals & Harper.
Saying otherwise just sounds like NDP spin.

Trudeau and Harper both for TPP and the spy bill. The smiley photos and the pot is to fool the chumps.
by Anonymous | reply 355 | November 2, 2015 8:59 PM |
Mulcair originally supported TPP until he suddenly came out against it in the final week of the campaign.
Mulcair originally planned to support the spy bill and spoke favorably of its provisions (see January 30 French interview with Mulcair on Radio-Canada website).
by Anonymous | reply 356 | November 2, 2015 9:07 PM |
I agree, R356. There wasn't really a choice in that election. They were all the same.
by Anonymous | reply 357 | November 2, 2015 9:09 PM |
No, they were not all the same.
Although I don't agree with Trudeau on everything and think Mulcair is a political chameleon sometimes, they were still far better options than the Harper Cons.
It's just like people complaining about Obama not being left-wing enough. Sure, it would be great if the Dems in the US and the Libs in Canada were farther left, but that's not realistic in our system right now.
by Anonymous | reply 358 | November 2, 2015 9:11 PM |
It's more like Tony Blair and Thatcher. Harper was Thatcher - all those years that ruined the country. Election of smiley Blair, who was supposed to be young, different, upbeat. But then there was much the same...and new problems.
I would like to be wrong, but this is what it looks like it will be....
by Anonymous | reply 359 | November 2, 2015 9:23 PM |
What's interesting is that Justin Trudeau met Margaret Thatcher as a boy when his father was PM, but it was Mulcair who ended up praising her policies when he was in the Quebec Assembly.

8-year old Justin Trudeau meets Margaret Thatcher:
by Anonymous | reply 361 | November 2, 2015 9:30 PM |
Please. You couldn't find two people more opposite than Trudeau and Harper. Harper's whole reason for being was to make Canada a super-petro state. Harper would skin his pet cats before he'd agree to attend a climate summit or let scientists talk freely or allow reporters to ask more than five questions. And campaign on running a deficit? Harper would have choked on his cornflakes and taken his name off the government letterheads before he'd do that.
Harper is Darth Vadar compared to Trudeau's Luke Skywalker.
by Anonymous | reply 362 | November 2, 2015 10:57 PM |
Trudeau hasn't even been sworn in yet and he's already doing things differently from Harper:
1. He met with the press the day after the Election in the Press Room in Ottawa, which Harper had refused to attend for the past decade.
2. He met with voters coming off the Metro in his Montreal district the morning after the Election to thank them for voting for him, something else Harper would never do.
3. He told Obama that Canada would be pulling its CF-18 jets out of the bombing mission against ISIS (which has already resulted in civilian deaths).
4. He invited Elizabeth May, Green Party Leader, and the other leaders, to the Paris Summit.

Speaking of bathing, there's a scene in the Canadian World War I movie that Justin Trudeau was in where he & the soldiers go for a swim in the river.
Supposedly there is a brief shot of Justin's naked butt.
Could someone with the DVD find out and make screencaps?

The cabinet is really kind of amazing. When you read all their CVs, there doesn't seem to be a weak link in the bunch. Actually, he could have had an all-woman cabinet with the pool he had to chose from. Now all he has to do is get out of the way and let them run their departments without interference.
The new minister of defense is incredibly impressive when you read this quote about him--
'Speaking about Harjit, Brigadier-General David Fraser was quoted in a letter to then Chief Constable Jamie Graham of the Vancouver Police Department:
“He was the best single Canadian intelligence asset in theatre, and his hard work, personal bravery, and dogged determination undoubtedly saved a multitude of Coalition lives. Through his courage and dedication, (then) Major Sajjan has singlehandedly changed the face of intelligence gathering and analysis in Afghanistan.”'

It's the most diverse cabinet in Canadian history -- more women & minorities than ever before, plus an openly-gay man in the important role of Treasury Board (Scott Brison).
Trudeau has just been sworn in and yet he has already done more to change the face of the cabinet than Harper did in a decade.
There were very few women or minorities in positions of power in the Harper cabinets, and NOT ONE openly-gay person.

I know people who work in the federal public service in Ottawa, and it was not a fun time under Harper and his cronies. A lot of fear and threats. I hope the public service finds renewed hope under this new cabinet.

The Conservatives were almost completely wiped out in Ottawa, R376 -- the whole city voted Liberal in all the ridings. The only Conservatives left near Ottawa are outside the city in the rural areas.
Across the river from Ottawa on the Quebec side, the Liberals swept all the ridings in Hull-Gatineau, too.
A big part of that was the federal public servants voting against the Conservatives. They were subjected to years of abuse by Harper.

People working within various departments were muzzled, and Herr Harper had moles placed throughout. He really was a despot.
by Anonymous | reply 392 | November 5, 2015 10:32 PM |
R392- I've been reading up on Harper's muzzling. I don't understand why more of this wasn't talked about in the media. One veteran who criticized the government on their plan to scrap vet pensions and replace it with a lump sum payment had his medical files pulled and examined by people in the Veteran Affairs office - people who had no legal right to do that. Then vets were told to sign some kind of pledge not to criticize the government in social media.
That, on top of scientists being muzzled and having to get permission to give interviews. Then when they did get permission, a government "chaperone" had to go with the scientist to the interview.
Harper's government sounded like a cross between the Tea Party and Scientology.
by Anonymous | reply 394 | November 5, 2015 10:41 PM |
The reporters haven't reported on anything substantial for a long time.
There was a rumor that the funding for the Reform Party, which Harper's "Conservatives" sprang from, came from the US Republicans (there was never a report on where their funding came from). And it was this that had a major impact on Canadian government/politics for the past couple of decades
by Anonymous | reply 395 | November 5, 2015 10:45 PM |
I can believe that US Republicans had something to do with Harper's Conservatives because I remember Pierre Whatshisface standing up and introducing the "Fair" Elections Act and justifying it by saying that they needed the law because of all the voter fraud. When I heard that, my first thought was, didn't the Republicans use that very same excuse to suppress the vote in the States?

by Anonymous | reply 408 | November 6, 2015 2:18 AM |
Wow, apparently Luntz *was* giving Harper advice---
" Elizabeth Thompson of the Montreal Gazette reported that Luntz, whose speech "Massaging the Conservative Message for Voters" offered Civitas members tips on how to obtain a majority for Stephen Harper's Conservative Party in the next federal election in Canada.
For example, Thompson wrote, "'Focus on accountability and tax relief', said Mr Luntz. 'Images and pictures are important. Tap into national symbols such as hockey.
'If there is some way to link hockey to what you all do, I would try to do it.'"
LMAO. Yeah, Harper should have made the analogy that his government policies were like getting a hockey stick shoved in the crotch. That certainly would have gotten his message across better.

[quote]Trudeau's 'Because It's 2015' Comment Gets International Attention
11/05/2015
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's succinct "because it's 2015" explanation of his new, half-female cabinet has attracted international attention.
The New York Times, Newsweek, Slate, the NBC Nightly News website and various other U.S. news organizations reported on Trudeau's swearing-in on Wednesday, including his retort to a reporter when asked why having a cabinet with an equal number of men and women was important to him.
Newsweek cited a United Nations study to note that with Trudeau's gender-equal cabinet Canada will now rank No. 4 in the world in terms of percentage of women in ministerial positions, tied with France and Liechtenstein. It was previously in 20th place, according to the UN Women report; Finland is No. 1.
Britain's Telegraph also carried a story on Trudeau's cabinet.
"In a shock 'politician recognizes it's the 21st century' move, he's picked 15 men and 15 women — the first gender-balanced ministerial team in the country's history," the newspaper reported in an article by Claire Cohen, the deputy women's editor.
Even some celebrities waxed poetic.
"Why a gender balanced/50:50 government? 'Because it's 2015!' Coolest thing I've seen in a while. Love U Canada," actress Emma Watson, of Harry Potter fame, wrote on Twitter.
When Trudeau won a majority government on Oct. 19, much of the ensuing international coverage focused on his physical appearance.
This week, it's the prime minister's pithy defence of his gender-equal cabinet that's prompted the international media to sit up and take notice.
The feminist U.S. website Jezebel's piece on Trudeau's cabinet was headlined: The Sexiest Thing About Justin Trudeau Is His Cabinet's Gender Parity.

Peter Mansbridge has certainly been around for a while now.
But Lloyd Robertson stayed on as CTV Chief Anchor until he was in his 70's, so Mansbridge has got a while to go before he catches up with Lloyd.
I guess Mansbridge is about 6 feet tall. Justin is 6 feet 2, and so Mansbridge looks only a couple inches shorter.
Not sure about Justin's hair. I would assume since he's in his 40's now that he probably has a few grey hairs, so perhaps he dyes them.

I don't see much of a Liberal slant either. The media made a whole big nitpicking thing about how some of the women were really only JUNIOR ministers and were getting less money, implying that Trudeau lied about the cabinet being equal. But it turned out that it was just because the Treasury board hadn't had time to change over so the information that was posted online wasn't up to date.
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

Reading the comments by federal scientists, the Harper government was even worse than imagined.
One scientist said that the scientists were not even sure they were allowed to give out 'red tide warnings'. It has something to do with algae that is contaminated with toxins that turns the water red - hence the 'red tide' label. It kills plant life, fish, shellfish and if humans consume the fish/shellfish, it could also kill them. The scientist said it was scary to basically cross your fingers and hope no tragedy happened if you had to wait to get permission to give out the warning from Ottawa.
The more the scientists talk, the more horrific stuff comes out.

Here's the quote about the red tide warning----
"These days, Canadian scientists are sent to international conferences with "government minders," Sandborn said.
"It's crazy. We have fisheries scientists saying that they're restricted from issuing red tide warnings without getting political approval from Ottawa," he said.
"So, you have a government scientist put in a quandary: do we issue a red tide warning — because red tides can kill people — do I do that right now or do I send it off to Ottawa and follow all the protocols and just hope that nobody dies while we're waiting for political approval from a minister's office?"
This sounds like something out of an Orwellian novel.

Yeah, Justin looked even sexier with the longer, curly hair than he does with the shorter hair.
It's unfortunate, but Liberal survey research showed that he looked too young with the longer hair.
You get judged based on your hair when you are in the public eye. It shouldn't be that way, but it is.
I remember in the 1990's when Marcia Clark was offended that research by the L.A. D.A.'s office showed that jury members found her straight hair too severe-looking and that she should change her hair style by making it into friendlier curls. She thought it was offensive & sexist, but she still did it.

R468 Believe it or not, there is a Red Tory faction within the party. I know quite a few. They're very happy to see Harper leave. I love that he refused to resign publicly.
by Anonymous | reply 470 | November 9, 2015 2:38 AM |
R467- Caroline Bennett is in the cabinet. She's the Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs.
I can't really see any tokenism in the cabinet. When you look over their resumes, there's really no one minister who shouldn't be there. And the Sikh minister of Defense, Harjit Sajjan, is clearly the best choice when you look at his intelligence background in Afghanistan. When the US wanted him on their team, you know that means he's more than qualified for that portfolio.

R471 Bill Blair is supposedly very upset he didn't make cabinet.
by Anonymous | reply 472 | November 9, 2015 2:42 AM |
Yes, it was a huge flip-flop for the Conservatives to suddenly say this week that they will support an Inquiry into the Missing/Murdered Aboriginal Women, because Harper was totally opposed to the idea and made it clear last year that he didn't give a damn about it.
by Anonymous | reply 473 | November 9, 2015 2:43 AM |
What about Maryam Monsef? She has a paper thin resume.
by Anonymous | reply 474 | November 9, 2015 2:43 AM |
R468-Harper refusing to resign publicaly - wasn't it supposed to be in that speech he read? - just shows what kind of person he was. And if it's true that the ONLY reason he stayed on for the election was to beat Trudeau's son - then that's perfect karma for him.
But if there are still Red Tories in the party, they should make themselves known because right now the Cons look like complete dog shit.
by Anonymous | reply 475 | November 9, 2015 2:44 AM |
Well, I think she was a Regional Councilor in Peterborough, R474.
But she's not in one of the big roles, so she doesn't require a lot of experience anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 476 | November 9, 2015 2:45 AM |
R475, Harper never resigned publicly.
He had the Conservative Party President John Walsh send out a statement on his behalf, but he refused to announce it himself in a speech the way most normal leaders do.
by Anonymous | reply 477 | November 9, 2015 2:48 AM |
R476 No, Maryam was never a Regional Councilor. Her resume consists of running for various political offices. You're probably right though about not needing much experience for that particular portfolio.
by Anonymous | reply 479 | November 9, 2015 2:50 AM |
R474- She's Minister for Democratic Institutions and when you read her bio, that fits with her experiences. What surprised me was how young she is.

R478, I'd love to run my hands along Justin's abs in bed every night!

by Anonymous | reply 481 | November 9, 2015 2:52 AM |
R470- The former Right Honorable Stephen Harper apparently exited Parliament via "the back door" according to journalists waiting in the Hall.
Now, there's a man proud of his political accomplishments as former Prime Minister and so in tune with the significance of his former stature that it didn't cross his mind to swallow his (false) pride and face the people and the media one last time and make an honourable exit befitting an former statesman waving at on-lookers via the Front Doors of the Parliament.
by Anonymous | reply 482 | November 9, 2015 2:54 AM |
R472- Blair seemed to have a lot of controversy surrounding him and I doubt Trudeau needed to take that on, especially when he had such a deep pool of people to choose from.
by Anonymous | reply 483 | November 9, 2015 2:55 AM |
Now, I'm curious. Since Harper is still a member of parliament for his riding, is he actually going to SIT in parliament? Is he required to be there for a certain number of days??
Because I can't picture him liking the idea of just sitting there, watching Rona stand up to talk. Not unless he's there to pass her notes to read from.
by Anonymous | reply 484 | November 9, 2015 2:58 AM |
R484 Lol. Harper will probably step down as an MP before the next federal election.
by Anonymous | reply 485 | November 9, 2015 3:14 AM |
R464- I think Mulcair is probably still shell- shocked by the whole election outcome. He lost longtime MPs who by all accounts were highly respected in their ridings.
Meghan Leslie, one the NDP's representatives in Halifax was reduced to tears during a live CBC broadcast last week. No one in their party saw the "red wave" coming so Mulcair has the unenviable task of working on their morale, and rallying the troops behind his (failed) leadership.
Plus Mulcair is up against a young, charismatic and extremely energetic Prime Minister tending to a deeply de-moralized public service so grateful for a a fresh, respectful and collaborative approach. That's gotta be tough on Mulcair. And Ambrose.
by Anonymous | reply 486 | November 9, 2015 3:18 AM |
R486 You don't think the NDP will dump Mulcair?
by Anonymous | reply 487 | November 9, 2015 3:21 AM |
I've got nothing against Mulcair but when you're the NDP and fighting an uphill battle against the Liberals, you've got to have a leader with more charisma. And no, dancing like Drake doesn't cut it.
by Anonymous | reply 488 | November 9, 2015 3:24 AM |
R487- Just the Facts
Despite early campaign polls which showed an NDP lead, the party lost 51 seats on election night and fell back to its former third place in Parliament.
By winning 44 seats Mulcair was still able to secure the second best showing in terms of the number of seats compared to Ed Broadbent's 1988 election campaign. However, this was still a smaller percentage than Broadbent had won in 1988 due to the increased number of MP's now represented in the House of Commons.
The party's membership will determine if he stays on as leader following a leadership review in April 2016.
by Anonymous | reply 489 | November 9, 2015 3:39 AM |
Mulcair lost 40 seats in Quebec.
He was supposed to WIN Quebec.
Instead, Justin Trudeau finished 1st in Quebec, and Mulcair finished a distant 2nd.
That is probably the biggest blow to his ego.

The reason it is significant is because there was not a single openly-gay MP in the Harper Government.
Not one Conservative MP was allowed to be openly-gay in the 10 years that Harper was in power.
Not one!

You're the one reporting a totally false number & spreading anti-Muslim sentiment.
The Trudeau Government has proposed 25,000 refugees. That's nowhere near "hundreds of thousands".
Btw, there was a terrorist attack on Parliament Hill last year when the Harper Conservatives were in power.
by Anonymous | reply 519 | November 19, 2015 11:40 PM |
Is Harper eating crow right now? He claimed that if Canada pulled out the CF-18s, it would totally damage Canada's relationship with the US.
Yet, Obama and Trudeau got along great, called each other by their first names --- Did Obama ever call Harper "Steven"? - and Obama and Michelle are having Justin and Sophie up to the White House to chat over the vegetable garden. Nice and warm and pleasant.
Plus the reports in the media seem to conclude that the experts feel pulling out the jets isn't going to make much of a difference if Trudeau is relocating resources in other areas.
Sorry Harper, you lost this argument too.
by Anonymous | reply 520 | November 20, 2015 2:01 AM |
There's no perfect solution to the terrorism situation.
The Conservatives are certainly full of garbage a lot of the time, particularly since there was a terrorist attack last year on the Canadian Parliament on Harper's watch.
On the other hand, there could be terrorism problems while the Trudeau Government is in power, too, so there's no way to know what the terrorists will do next.

I was looking at the leaders sitting around the table in Malta and it was kind of refreshing to see someone with a bit of youth - and swag - instead of the typical older, out of shape, one foot in the grave characters.
Which brings me to the Royal Family. When you look at the Royals who were on stage at the Commonwealth conference, Prince Philip 90- something year old dragged from his comfy evening jim jams and night cap at Buckingham Palace (meaning drink but maybe he wears an actual cap to bed) and Queen Elizabeth all decked in her glad rags, then Charles and Camilla - the Royals are starting to look like museum figurines.
The 'word' among journalists covering the event is this may be Queen Elizabeth's last foreign trip.

What an embarrassment the next 4 years will be. And we'll be spent into oblivion. A high school drama teacher is leading the country!
by Anonymous | reply 526 | November 29, 2015 12:22 AM |
r526 Don't forget he's an avid skateboarder!
That was why when I heard he was elected I thought: Deficits from Spending on 'Liberal' projects (in order to stay in power at least 20 years) and risky policies on everything: Syrian refugees being one.
He'll be intellectually out-gunned in any kind of debate or impromptu discussion with politicians (some who are extremely well educated in Europe).
This is still the honeymoon period for Trudeau. Mind you, Harper was no Einstein either and he seemed to 'hate' everything about his job that involved people - whether fellow politicians, journalists, citizens (veterans groups). He was so detached and almost invisible to the electorate except for 'showing up' at required events.
At least Trudeau projects passion on subjects. I thought having the two little First Nations girls at his Swearing - playing a traditional cultural game and erupting into giggles - was pure Trudeau and a nod to his father's deep reverence for Canadian culture. Only time will tell.

I see Conservative HQ is back with the 'high school drama teacher' nonsense.
Trudeau was never a drama teacher. He was a French & math teacher. And it's been a decade or more since he was a teacher.
He's been in Parliament for nearly a decade.
