Was she magnificent ?
You do not need to be an elder gay to know about Lovey! She was a best character on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 8, 2015 12:36 AM |
She made tv worth watching back then!
I worshipped her.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 8, 2015 12:53 AM |
Magnificent. She'd be my avatar.

1. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll
2. Mrs. Thurston Howell lll

She was a lot of young gaylings introduction to fabulousness... Without trying or knowing it...
"Oh, LOOK! Gillian's little friend has come to join the PAH TY!"
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 8, 2015 1:06 AM |
She was Weezy Jefferson minus the Center.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 8, 2015 1:09 AM |
You know she was a lezbo don't you?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 8, 2015 1:10 AM |
r9 that's irrelevant. We're talking about the iconic Mrs. Thurston Howell lll here and all the fabulousness she embodied.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 8, 2015 1:15 AM |
Well she was fabulous at eating pussy.

We both had lots of old money, dear.

I, as a kid, thought her amazing and was entranced by her diamonds, especially one ring with a stone of such a high carat weight that, in some fantasy in which they'd all rapidly aged, she couldn't lift her hand while wearing it.

Ask Willard Romney dolt!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 8, 2015 1:25 AM |
I hate the bitch!

This is hard work Mary Ann, sitting on these suitcases with nothing to do.
Where's room service on this God forsaken island when you need it? Oh Gilligan!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 8, 2015 1:46 AM |
Let's be honest here, she put Jackie Kennedy to shame with her wardrobe choices. Never was she anything less than perfectly appointed for all occasions on the island. Such intuitive sartorial foresight she displayed when instructing her help as to what to pack for just a three hour cruise! "One can never rule out the unexpected"; she must have lived and breathed it!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 8, 2015 1:52 AM |
Poor Natalie Schaeffer, she was a Broadway baby (loved the theatah) and only flew out to California for a quick payday. She never dreamed that Sherwood Schwartz's pilot for Gilligan's Island would ever get picked up.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 8, 2015 1:55 AM |
I never knew her real story (NS) until I saw a TV movie about behind the scenes of Gilligan's Islands. Fun character -- great lady.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 8, 2015 1:57 AM |
She also shaved a decade off her age, because she thought they wouldn't hire her if they knew how old she really was.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 8, 2015 1:58 AM |
Don't forget Nat's turn on [italic]I Love Lucy[/italic] as Miss Phoebe Emerson, the snooty, shade-throwing charm-school directress:
Phoebe: Do you always wear that shade of powder? It gives you a weird, unnatural look.
Lucy: [bold]I'm not wearing powder.[/bold]

This is the lady who was George Kaufman's mistress for years, yes? Was she also a lesbian?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 8, 2015 2:25 AM |
Of course she was magnificent...she was, after all, Queen of the Pitted Prune Bowl Parade .
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 8, 2015 2:39 AM |
She was in "Female on the Beach" with Crawford and DL fave Jeff Chandler.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 8, 2015 2:41 AM |
George S. Kaufman was ugly as sin, but well hung.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 8, 2015 2:43 AM |
Natalie signed to do the "Gilligan's Island" pilot only because she thought it would never be picked up as a long-term series. When it was, she was surprised but then often later said it was one of her favorite acting jobs.

I loved this show. "Gilligan's Island" premiered on my 40th birthday back in 1964 so it was a real treat to laugh on such a "devastating" day. No, it wasn't really, I'm only joking. I celebrated with my family and it was just a wonderful time and then we all watched this show and laughed and laughed. Families watched TV together back then, so it was a real treat to be with my family on my 40th birthday.

They owned houses, bungalows really right next door to each other. I believe Dawn was the only beneficiary of Nathalie's estate.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 8, 2015 7:09 PM |
She and Thurston were the only ones allowed to have sex on the island.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 8, 2015 7:15 PM |
[quote]George S. Kaufman was ugly as sin, but well hung.
And a master at the art of cunnilingus, according to Mary Astor. Some of the less explicit pages of her diary were read out loud in court during her notorious divorce case. Among other things, she wrote that Kaufman was the sort of man she would go over a cliff for.

My mother, my aunt, my great aunt, and my grandmother.. All their jaws dropped at what Natalie Schaeffer had to say on Viginia Graham's GIRL TALK (what The View should have been).
I remember the theme music but I don't remember what she said.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 9, 2015 3:54 AM |
Despite her money, Lovey Howell was very tenderhearted, unlike her CBS sister Mrs. Drysdale. If the two had been switched, Gilligans Island would never have been as successful.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 9, 2015 4:29 AM |
Natalie S. appeared in a Los Angeles production of the lesbian-themed play, THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE
Despite her portrayals of upper class women and European aristocracy, she was the daughter of Jewish immigrants
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 12, 2015 12:01 AM |
I once read a comment made about Natalie Shafer, that she always acted with her hands above her elbows. Ever since then, whenever she pops up in an old movie or tv show, I notice how true that observation was. She was never with hands down below her waist.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 12, 2015 12:15 AM |
None of her friends knew how old she really was until just a few weeks before her death. They knew she was getting up there in age, but didn't think she was 90 years old.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 12, 2015 12:42 AM |
Shirley Booth used to eat her pussy.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 12, 2015 12:46 AM |
Lovey hated Janet Jackson.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 12, 2015 1:01 AM |
R54 is right. I was watching her being interviewed and she said Janet was way to ham hocky for her. Too much junk in the trunk.

God R2, that is a camp classic!
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 12, 2015 1:07 AM |
